BIRMINGHAM: Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal failed to pass a fitness test ahead of Champions Trophy tournament.

According to reports, Head Coach Micky Arthur will now make the final decision on Akmal`s inclusion in the squad.

Earlier, in a video message released by Pakistan Cricket Board, Arthur said that fielding and fitness are of utmost importance to him.

?Fitness, fielding is of paramount importance. Good fielding gives us a chance for better batting and bowling," he said.

Akmal was excluded from the team squad ahead of Pakistan?s tour to West Indies after failing to clear fitness test.
