Currency regulations in Pakistan permit passengers to legally take out of the country a maximum of $10,000 or its equivalent in other foreign currencies.

In March 2015, model Ayyan Ali ? reportedly linked with former president Asif Ali Zardari ? was arrested at the Islamabad airport by the Airport Security Force for allegedly attempting to smuggle over $500,000 to the United Arab Emirates. She has since been released on bail while a case is under way.Β
