Rules can’t really contain human emotion. When you feel for something from your heart, chances are that you will end up doing going in that direction. Godhraj Meena, a BSF constable would have never expected that Home Minsiter Rajnath Singh would break a protocol to thank him for his service to the country.

In 2014, during the J & K, Udhampur attacks, Meena suffered an attack that caused an 85% disability. The bus he was travelling in with his fellow soldiers was ambushed mid-way on 5th August 2014 near the Narsu Nalah area. The convoy took heavy fire and shelling. Meena’s brave efforts and swift presence of mind kept two armed assailants away from the vehicle, which eventually saved 30 lives.

Meena suffered collateral damage. A bullet pierced through his mouth and eventually robbed him of his speech. His limbs and upper body also suffered major injuries. But like a classic Indian Army soldier, he took the beating and did his duty. Right after pinning the gallantry medal on Meena’s chest, the home minister hugged him as a gesture of how grateful the country is in to Meena’s sacrifice. Usually, as per the protocol, after pinning the medal, there’s a handshake and the jawan moves forward.
The internet loved it and acted accordingly
