BIRMINGHAM: Fast bowler Wahab Riaz is expected to be sent home from the UK after developing a foot injury during the Champion Trophy match against India on Sunday, informed sources.
Doctors have recommended at least 10-day rest for Riaz to recover from the injury.
Sources have also informed that Coach Mickey Arthur has requested the team management to send an immediate replacement for the fast bowler, however Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shahryar Khan is reluctant to send a player to UK as he believes that with Junaid Khan and Faheem Ashraf in the squad there is no need for an alternative player.
The Pakistani pacer had to leave the game before completing the over, after which he was taken to hospital. He left for the hospital walking with the help of crutches, where he underwent X-ray tests.
