After Scoring A 99.99 Percentile In 12th Ahmedabad Boy Renounces It All To Become A Jain Monk

12th class starts and finishes with marks. Every student’s focus is just on scoring well in the dreaded Board exams. Everyone just dreams of getting a near perfect score of 99.99%, and for Varshil Shah, that dream actually came true.

Hailing from Ahmedabad, Varshil surely made his parents quite proud and with a score like that, he would have his pick of any college he wanted, followed by a lucrative career ahead. But, seems like Varshil has a very different plan.

The teenager has decided to go through a ceremony called ‘diksha’ and will give up all the worldly pleasures to become a Jain monk. Before class 12, he met a monk who helped him concentrate better and that helped him in achieving better marks.

Varshil’s spiritual journey began 3 years back when he met Surat-based Munni Shri Kalyan Ratna Vijayji, and since then he had just been waiting to complete school to become a monk.

He also said, “The result is as per expectations, but to attain and maintain peace, I think renouncing the world is the only way.”

The whole Shah family leads quite a simple life and are devout followers of the Jain principle of Jivdaya, or compassion for all living beings.

His incredible marks didn’t come as a surprise to Varshil, as peace ranks higher for him than anything else. Well, good for him for finding his calling and having the courage to actually follow it.
