Moreover, restrictions under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure were imposed in different districts of Kashmir Valley including Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, Baramulla, Badgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora and Kupwara.
The protest leaders were staging a demonstration against the killing of a young man, identified as Adil Farooq Magrey, who was martyred during a clash between security officials and protesters on Tuesday.
In response, the authorities have also closed down all educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley to prevent more student protests. The examinations have also been postponed.
As a result, the internet service in the valley has been suspended.
Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani remained under house arrest and another leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq was also placed under house arrest on Friday.
