LAHORE: Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Sohail Aman visited Jinnah Hospital on Tuesday to inquire into the treatment of victims of the Ahmedpur East oil tanker fire tragedy. 

During his visit, ACM Aman said the Pakistan Air Force is standing shoulder to shoulder with the injured and bereaved families in their hour of need. 

"Will ensure that all kinds of aid reaches those in need," said ACM Aman according to a spokesperson. The air chief also read a prayer alongside relatives of the victims.

Several of those injured in Sunday's devastating inferno are under treatment at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore. 

According to health sources, 126 people were killed on the spot while 31 died later during treatment within two days after the crashed oil tanker caught fire Sunday morning in Bahawalpur?s Ahmedpur East tehsil. 

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, along with his brother Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, visited Bahawal Victoria Hospital on Monday to inquire into the treatment being meted out to the injured victims. 

He also distributed cheques worth Rs1 million each to the injured victims and announced compensation worth Rs2 million each for the families of deceased. 

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa also visited those injured in the tragedy at Nishtar Hospital, Multan on Monday.
