GILGIT: Voting for the by-poll at Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly-4 in Hunza-Nagar began at 8am today and will conclude at 5pm.

There are 18,505 registered voters in the constituency, which fell vacant in February 2017 after the incumbent representative, Islami Tehreek Pakistan?s (ITP) Muhammad Ali Sheikh passed away due to cardiac arrest.

A total of 40 polling stations have been set up in the constituency, with 20 set up for men, 16 for women and four combined.

A strong contest is expected between ITP?s Mohammad Baqar Haider and Pakistan Peoples Party?s Javed Hussain.

The number of registered male voters is 10,018 and female voters 8,870 in the constituency.Β
