Rohit Sharma is set to lead Team India in his first-ever Test match, when he takes the field against Sri Lanka on March 4, Friday.

Rohit was named as the captain across formats last month and the chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma showed faith in the 34-year-old calling him the number one cricketer in the country.
Team India, after a thumping series win over Sri Lanka, reached Mohali and was seen sweating it out on the ground for the Test series on Tuesday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared pictures from Team India's training session, however, Rohit was missing from those pictures.

Fans soon noticed a few cryptic tweets from the new Indian skipper's Twitter handle that made little sense. The first tweet talked about how Rohit loves coin toss while the next one was about buzzing beehives.

I love coin tosses…especially when they end up in my belly!

    — Rohit Sharma (@ImRo45) March 1, 2022 The third and latest tweet from Rohit's account seemed to assure a few fans that his Twitter account was hacked. "Cricket balls are edible…right?" the tweet read. These strange and weird tweets led to speculation from fans who tried to decode what the Indian captain was trying to say.

    — SANIKA (@crazy_but_crazy) March 1, 2022While it is up to Rohit to clear the air whether his account really got hacked or it is something else, the fans who are sweating over his absence from the training session images that BCCI shared on social media don't need to worry.
India's new vice-captain in Tests, Jasprit Bumrah, addressing the media ahead of the Test series confirmed that the whole squad is fit and is available for selection for the first Test.

India will be brimming with confidence as their star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is all set to make a comeback in Test cricket after a long gap due to injury.

The first Test between India and Sri Lanka also happens to be Virat Kohli's 100th match in the longest format of the game. Bumrah said the team would like to gift him a win in his historic Test.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a friend who’s always there for you? Someone who can bail you out of whatever kind of troubles you may land in? Well, wouldn’t be even nicer if that friend also comes with a nice, hefty bank account? Just in case conversations and company aren’t doing the trick, and you need someone to gift you enough money to take all your woes away?
While you may think such friendships are probably just fanciful imaginations bordering on delusions, a guy can dream, right?
Well, you might be surprised to know that one such Hollywood superstar is exactly the kind of friend that would undeniably cheer us all up on a bad day - whether it be with a pint of your favourite or just a casual $1 Million to brighten your day (and your life).
Well, as it turns out, Hollywood royalty, George Clooney is a pretty darn good friend to have. No, seriously. The former Batman had once given a million in cash to not just one but all 14 of his close pals.
    © Reuters
In an interview with GQ, George Clooney had explained how he wanted to give back to those friends who had been there with him since his days of struggle, back when he wasn’t anywhere close to being the superstar that he is now.

He elaborated, "What I do have are these guys who’ve all, over a period of 35 years, helped me in one way or another”, further adding, “I’ve slept on their couches when I was broke. They loaned me money when I was broke. They helped me when I needed help over the years. And I’ve helped them over the years.”
Clooney’s act of friendly generosity transpired after he worked on 2013’s Oscar-winning film Gravity, discussing the incident, he said, “Because they didn’t want to pay us, they gave us percentages of the movie, ’cause they thought it was gonna be a flop, and that ended up being a very good deal.”
He further explained the thought process that went behind giving away $1 Million dollars each to all 14 of his close friends, by concluding, “I just held up a map and I just pointed to all the places I got to go in the world and all the things I’ve gotten to see because of them. And I said, ‘How do you repay people like that?’ And I said, ‘Oh, well: How about a million bucks?’”
    © Reuters
George Clooney’s close friend, Rande Gerber, had offered a different vantage point to this wholesome interaction, sharing in an interview with MSNBC in 2017, that the actor had purchased 14 Tumi suitcases which are $1 Million in each.

He then asked his friends to mark a date to come over for a dinner party, and it was then that Clooney presented them with the surprise of their lives.
Let’s pray that we all find a friend like George Clooney! Do share your thoughts in the comments below!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt opened to a positive response from critics and audience alike. The film has also scored well at the box office and trade analysts are of the opinion that Gangubai Kathiawadi is on course to be a hit.
Amid the love pouring in for the film, a Twitter user shared a picture of Alia Bhatt’s look from the film and posted it alongside a picture of his mother from the ‘80s.
He mentioned how his mother, a Kamathipura courtesan, had a look similar to Alia Bhatt as Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Indian Premier League (IPL) has changed the face of franchise cricket since its inception in 2008, a year after India won the inaugural T20 World Cup.

There have been many countries that have started their own T20 league, following the footsteps of IPL. However, IPL being the only T20 tournament with Indian cricketers' presence along with the best of the overseas players, makes it the best franchise-based tournament in the world.
Fans often compare the quality of cricket in Australia's Big Bash League or Pakistan Super League with the IPL but Indian fans always get the last laugh as even the cricketers who have played around the world agree with IPL fans that it is indeed the best league in the world.
How sad @ArfaSays_ didn't mentioned about this in his regular tweets pic.twitter.com/4HHsKW8TVa
    — 𝕾𝖆𝖛𝖆𝖌𝖊 ⟿ 𝖌𝖚 (@cypher_nxxt) March 1, 2022 Usman Khawaja, the Australian cricketer of Pakistan origin, also highlighted the main difference that makes the IPL superior to any other league in the world including the PSL.
Khawaja, who is in Pakistan for the upcoming Test series, was interacting with the media ahead of the first Test. When asked to pick one between IPL and PSL, Khawaja expressed his views in detail.
    © Twitter IPL
"IPL is the strongest in the world. That's hands down. That's not really a contest there (between IPL and PSL) because at the end of the day they have all the world come to them and they also have the only league in the world that has Indian cricketers. So, it ends up becoming the best league in the world," Khawaja said.

Indian fans soon used Khawaja's comments as an opportunity to take a dig at PSL fans and boasted about the IPL's superiority on social media.

However, many Australian stars regularly feature in the IPL with the likes of David Warner, Shane Watson, Shane Warne and Ricky Ponting even donning the captain's hat at some stage in the tournament's history.

    — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) March 29, 2013 The 15th edition of the IPL will get underway on March 26 and all the league matches will be played across four stadiums in Maharashtra. The final will be played on May 29.
We too agree with Khawaja's statement here. Indian players are known to be crowd pullers and their presence in the IPL makes it the best league in the world.

Amid huge buzz and expectations, Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi was finally released on the big screens last week after facing several delays amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film has been getting a favorable response from moviegoers and is performing well at the box office.
    View this post on Instagram
In the ambitious Bhansali project, Alia is playing the titular role of Gangubai, who was reportedly sold into prostitution at an early age and was among the most powerful personalities in Kamathipura during the 1960s. After seeing the trailer, Alia was labeled as 'miscast' for the role, however, post the film's release, the actress is getting a positive response for her strong performance.

The latest buzz suggests that Alia wasn't Bhansali's first choice for the role of Gangubai. Reportedly, the maverick filmmaker had approached three big actresses before finalizing the 2 States star for Gangubai Kathiawadi. Let's find out the names of the three actresses who were approached for the film:
Deepika Padukone View this post on Instagram
After delivering hits like Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat with Deepika, Sanjay signed Alia for Gangubai Kathiawadi which came as a shock to the actress' fans. However, the filmmaker had reportedly approached Deepika for the movie. Back then, Deepika was already committed to playing a gangster in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Sapna Didi alongside Irrfan Khan. Hence, she turned down Gangubai's role as she didn’t want to do a similar role. However, the film was shelved after Irrfan got sick.

Priyanka Chopra View this post on Instagram
Priyanka too was reportedly approached for the lead role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Looks like, things didn't work out with her as well. Later, Priyanka had to come out and clarify that she isn't a part of the film. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, she stated, "I have no idea. I haven’t signed a Hindi film yet because the two I’m doing in the US and the one I’m starting next year, are taking up my time". She worked with Bhansali in Bajirao Mastani and won rave reviews for her performance as Kashibai.

Rani Mukerji View this post on Instagram
According to an India Today report, Bhansali had Rani Mukerji in mind when casting for Gangubai Kathiawadi was going on. In 2005, Rani had worked with the filmmaker in Black which is still considered her career's best performance. However, things failed to materialize and Priyanka was then approached to star in the film.

One of the easiest ways to tell whether a picture is from India or not, would be to check for two things - chaos and traffic.
As long as there is some sort of a rush in the pictures, whether it is in terms of people crowding in a market or cars crowding on a road to the point that it creates hour-long traffic jams, one could safely assume that it would be an Indian road.
However, much to everyone’s surprise, and especially, Anand Mahindra’s, things are changing.
    © Twitter
Recently a Twitter user shared an uncanny and rare picture of a road from one of the Indian cities and guess what? There was not even a single person trying to scoot their vehicle from the sidelines or cross over a red light.

I have seen this kind of discipline only in Mizoram. There are no fancy cars, no big egos, no road rage, no honking and no तू जानता नहीं है मेरा बाप कौन है.... no one is in a tearing hurry...there is calm and serenity all around... pic.twitter.com/ZAkXNNcES4
    — Sandeep Ahlawat (@SandyAhlawat89) March 1, 2022
User Sandy Ahlawat took to the microblogging site just a few hours ago to share a picture from Mizoram where people were actually following traffic rules, and honestly, more than a rare sight, it was a pleasant one.
He wrote in the caption, “I have seen this kind of discipline only in Mizoram. There are no fancy cars, no big egos, no road rage, no honking and no तू जानता नहीं है मेरा बाप कौन है.... no one is in a tearing hurry...there is calm and serenity all around…”

And acknowledging it was industrialist Anand Mahindra who agreed with the user and he wrote, “What a terrific pic; Not even one vehicle straying over the road marker. Inspirational, with a strong message: it’s up to US to improve the quality of our lives. Play by the rules… A big shoutout to Mizoram.”
With not even a foot out of line, it was indeed something to applaud, for in a country where the population is increasing by the second, to see that people are beginning to resort to the rules is but a great step forward.

One user even wrote, “For the first time seeing such traffic discipline in India. Bows to the people of Mizoram. Hope this propagates everywhere in our country.” And we wholeheartedly hope for the same!

If there could be one person who would be single-handedly responsible for stirring most gossip in the Bollywood industry, Karan Johar would probably win by a margin as big as the Raichand Mansion in the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
From having access to A-listers to having a way of making them spill their secrets, Karan Johar’s show Koffee With Karan was one of the most controversial shows on TV. Which is why, every time I sit down to watch it, I find at least one statement that was either all ice or fire.
    © Reddit
Like this one in particular when War actor Hrithik Roshan went on camera to take a sly dig at superstars Aamir Khan and Salman Khan... over their height.

The fact that Hrithik is perhaps the greatest dancer in the Bollywood industry, is a given. That he is also one of the most handsome ones in the fraternity is also very well-acknowledged. However, that he is petty and the kind to make fun of someone over their height, is brand new knowledge to us, thanks to a thread on Reddit.
    © Twitter
User /u/ArtichokeSpecial494 recently took to Reddit to share an old clip of actor Hrithik Roshan appearing on the infamous Koffee With Karan, along with actress Priyanka Chopra, and giving a rather uncalled for and risque answer to one of Johar’s questions.

    © Twitter
As Karan asked Hrithik, who would he like to work with - Aamir or Salman, Hrithik took what was the longest pauses in history only to say, “They’re both the same height, so either”. Both the actors are nearly 5’8 in height.

    © Reddit
Seconds later, PeeCee broke into laughter mostly from being surprised, as did we all, for who thought that the designated good-boy of Bollywood, had some teeth after all, along with that 5’11 height?

Post the massive success of Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rise in Hindi starring Allu Arjun there was this argument on social media all over about how South Indian films have taken over the Hindi film industry.
There were already a lot of “Pan-Indian” films in the works, the success of Pushpa: The Rise in Hindi that released with zero promotions amplified that.
More than a month later, Ravi Teja starrer Telugu film Khiladi was released in the dubbed Hindi version and met with a disastrous response.
    © Pen Studios
This week, besides Gangubai Kathiawadi, Tamil film Valimai released in Hindi as Valimai: The Power. Starring Ajith and directed by H Vinoth, the film took a record opening in Tamil and was expected to go the Pushpa way in Hindi but it eventually failed to find an audience and turned out to be a box office disaster.

The film opened to a poor Rs 20 lakh and collected Rs 35 lakh on its second day. Over its four-day weekend, the action entertainer could only amass Rs 1.5 crore.
Valimai: The Power has now joined the long list of pan-India flops that released in the last 7 years or so.
    © Zee Studios
There is this perception that audiences in the Hindi markets are now preferring South Indian films over Hindi ones but that is far from the truth.

The reality is that in the last seven years only six South Indian films have worked in the Hindi belts. These include the two Baahubali films, Saaho, 2.0 (also starring Akshay Kumar), KGF (to an extent) & Pushpa: The Rise.
    © Mythri Movie Makers
On the other hand, there are over 10 noted pan-Indian films that flopped.

While February was a disastrous month for dubbed Hindi films from the South Indian film industries, the month of March will see two major Telugu films releasing in Hindi.
These include Prabhas starrer Radhe Shyam and SS Rajamouli’s RRR starring NTR Jr, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt & Ajay Devgn.
Both the films are expected to rock the box office across regions.

In April, there is KGF: Chapter 2 that is expected to open big. Besides Yash, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt & Raveena Tandon.

A few months back at an interview round table, Taapsee Pannu & Sanya Malhotra had complained about disparity between a male and female lead. They had talked about how the biggest of the actresses play second fiddle to an actor but not the other way round.
You don’t see major stars doing supporting roles in films centred around an actress. It often happens in Hollywood where male stars do supporting roles in films but it rarely happens in Bollywood.
Well, with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's latest directorial Gangubai Kathiawadi, Ajay Devgn has proved why he is the most secure superstar in the Hindi film industry.
    © Bhansali Productions
While the film is centred around Alia Bhatt’s character and she has nailed her performance, Ajay Devgn plays an important supporting role and adds value to the narrative.

This is truly one of the few times where a major movie star has accepted a supporting role in a female-centric film in Bollywood.
Moreover, his character isn’t romantically involved with Alia’s character. In fact, the two share a brother-sister kinda relationship.
Having said that, Gangubai Kathiawadi isn’t the only time Ajay Devgn has proved why he is the most secure Bollywood star, he has done it time and again.
In an industry and a profession where actors are highly insecure about their image and ageing on-screen, Ajay Devgn has displayed it quite frequently and successfully.
In the 2019 rom-com De De Pyar De, he played a 50-year-old man and the film actually addressed the age gap in his relationship with a girl who was 24 years younger than him. The May-December romantic comedy was a success at the box office.
    © T-Series
Two years before that in the 2017 blockbuster Golmaal Again, there is a whole subplot where Ajay’s character has fallen head over heels in love with Parineeti Chopra’s character not knowing that she is a ghost (spoiler alert?) and he is actually a fatherly figure to her.

In fact, throughout the film, there is a running joke about Ajay’s character being of her father’s age. In one sequence, Arshad Warsi’s character points out “Bachpan-Pachpan”. Which other superstar would do that?
    © Reliance Entertainment
Sure, Aamir Khan played a father in Dangal but for that, he completely changed his appearance and his daughters in the film weren’t leading stars back then. Also, the film showed the journey of his character from young to old.

In the 2016 film Fitoor, Ajay Devgn was seen in a special appearance where he played a fatherly figure to one of the young stars of today, Aditya Roy Kapur who starred alongside Katrina Kaif.
    © UTV Motion Pictures
In the 2004 film Taarzan the Wonder Car, when Ajay was only 35 years old, he played a father to the film’s lead hero Vatsal Seth.

    © Baba Films
This isn’t all! Ajay Devgn is also possibly the only current superstar to have starred in a horror film.

Horror is a genre that is considered highly difficult to execute and its success rate of it is quite low. Despite that, Ajay Devgn not only starred in one but it also turned out to be a cult hit in the genre. The film was Ram Gopal Varma’s 2003 hit Bhoot.
    © Nitin Manmohan
Now, I am not saying Ajay hasn’t romanced actresses 20 plus years younger than him or hasn’t tried to play a younger guy than his current age. But, at a time when other superstars are trying to hold on to their leading man image, he is the only one breaking stereotypes.

Whether playing his age on screen or doing a supporting role in a female-centric film, Ajay Devgn is a superstar like no other.

As Virat Kohli gears up to play the 100th Test match, there is a sense of excitement among the fans of the Indian cricket team.
The match will be played behind closed doors but the fans are delighted to see their favourite cricketer joining an elite list of cricketers who have completed a century of appearances in the traditional format of the game.
    © Reuters
Come Friday, the 33-year-old will become only the 12th Indian cricketer to play 100 Tests for the country. This list is led by none other than Sachin Tendulkar who has a world record to his name with 200 Test appearances.

The anticipation around the series has reached a whole new level and Kohli’s landmark outing has been the major driving force.
    © Reuters
It’s been over two years since Kohli last scored a century and the supporters want him to end the drought in the series opener at Mohali’s PCA Stadium and make his special occasion even more memorable.

It’s not that Kohli has looked out of touch but somehow he has failed to convert his starts into big scores – something which he used to do on a regular basis till 2019.
    © Reuters
While fans are wishing for a huge knock, legendary cricketer great Sunil Gavaskar, who knows a thing or two about pressure in these landmark games, feels that it won’t be easy for the Delhi-born to turn these huge expectations into reality.

Kohli has been getting wishes from all over the world ahead of his landmark appearance but Gavaskar feels sometimes all these things can create unnecessary pressure on a player. It doesn’t matter if it’s Virat Kohli or someone else.

“There's always pressure because everyone is wishing you well and expecting a century from you. You know that it is a unique Test match. The nervousness that you get in your first Test, you feel the same in your 100th game as well,” Gavaskar said on Sports Tak.
“In your first Test, you are nervous because you want to do well and cement your place in the side. In your 100th Test, you are even more nervous because you know this will only come once and you want to make it memorable.”
    © Reuters
Ahead of the landmark occasion, the ‘Little Master’ gave a strange piece of advice to the former India skipper to block the outside noise. He asked him to keep his earphones plugged in at all times, whether he is in his hotel room or on his way to the ground.

“I would advise Kohli that whether he is in his hotel room or going to the ground, he should plug in his earphones and listen to whatever he wants to. Because sometimes the good wishes that you receive can create pressure on you,” said Gavaskar, who finished his career with 125 Test matches.
    © Reuters
Gavaskar’s advice is hilarious. But we are not sure if following that would help Kohli end his two-year-long wait for an international century.
