Allu Arjun enjoys a stellar fan base and not only is he loved as an actor, but this βstylish starβ is also known to be a wonderful and a humble human being.
Back in 2016, Allu Arjun was present at the SIIMA awards, and was called to give the award to Nayanthara, the beautiful actress who won the βbest actressβ award for her film Naanum Rowdy.
While she gracefully took the mike and thanked everyone in her life, what surprised Allu Arjun fans was when she actually said that she wanted to receive this award from director Vignesh Shivan.
While Allu Arjun happily obliged, people in the audience laughed and this angered his fans to no end.

Some even argued that she could at least have been cordial to him and the whole situation could have been handled gracefully.

While Allu Arjun's fans treated it as an insult to the actor, he was smiling, because he took it quite sportingly. His fan base has increased post the success of Pushpa and the actor has reportedly charged a whopping Rs 60 crore for the movie and its sequel.

After appearing in films like Uri: The Surgical Strike and 83, Dhairya Karwa is eagerly waiting for the release of Gehraiyaan. Directed by Shakun Batra, the film features Dhairya in one of the lead roles opposite Deepika Padukone. With the film's trailer and songs, the actor has already made his presence felt and is slowly making his place in the film industry by choosing diverse roles.Β
View this post on Instagram
Jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Jouska Films, Gehraiyaan also stars Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday and is all set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 11.Β Β
In an exclusive chat with MensXP, Dhairya Karwa talks about Gehraiyaan, his equation with Deepika, and more. Here are the excerpts:Β
MXP: The film is looking great. How has been the response so far?Β
DK: The response is amazing and I'm really looking forward to the release. It's been a very fulfilling experience of working with some esteemed artists and beautiful souls who welcomed me with all their hearts and made me feel comfortable. It's been more than a film where I've made genuine friends for life. I couldn't have asked for more.
MXP: How did the film happen and what made you say yes to Gehraiyaan?
DK: It started with a casting call, the team of our casting director Panchami Ghavri reached out to me. Before that, I had seen a news article about Shakun and the other three cast members and I was like 'wow man, these people are lucky'. Shakun is just two films old but every actor wants to work with him and I'm no different. So, the moment Panchami's team reached out to me, I was so excited. I asked them if it was for Shakun's film? They answered 'yes' and then I did my research. I was very prepared for my audition because I went through Shakun's films and what he likes, what he doesn't like. That audition process went on for a month or so, 3-4 rounds, and eventually, Shakun and Karan (Johar) felt that I was the right choice (for the part) and I'm grateful that they thought so.Β
Coming to the second part of your question, I said yes because I'm a huge admirer of Shakun's work and then there's Deepika, Ananya, Siddhant, and it's a Dharma film. I mean, it's a no-brainer.
View this post on Instagram
MXP: You worked with Deepika, Ananya, & Siddhant for the first time in Gehraiyaan. Tell us about your offscreen equation with them.
DK: Again, I'll give credit to Shakun because all four characters (in the film) have known each other for a while. So, to have that camaraderie and to be comfortable around each other, it was Shakun's vision to call us in early before the shoot started. We spent around two weeks in Goa before shooting and we all were together the entire time. By the time we started shooting, we actually became friends. That really helped. We were so comfortable around each other that there was no baggage or pressure of working with established stars. They were so friendly and we all got along really well. It's been a wonderful experience, we still catch up and hang out together. We generally are friends. We met over a film and our friendship continues even after work.Β Β
MXP: Since you're playing Deepika's onscreen husband, most of your scenes must be with her. What was your first reaction when you got to know that you're paired opposite her?Β Β
DK: Oh, excited. So there's a fascinating anecdote that I have regarding this. On the sets of 83, we really didn't interact that much. Only small talk, you know. But at the wrap-up party of 83, everybody was taking pictures with Deepika and I'm a shy guy. So, I was at a distance and just looking at it. I don't know what went through my head, I went up to her and told her 'I'll not take that picture with you because I'm going to do a film with you'. At that point of time, I didn't know such a film (Gehraiyaan) was being made. Around 3-4 months later, I auditioned and got the part. The first time, when we met on a reading, Deepika asked 'did you know you were doing this?' I answered, 'I didn't know about this film at all'. So, it just so happens that you put it out in the universe and the universe was listening to it.Β Β
MXP: Now that you've worked with both Ranveer and Deepika, share one quality of both that you really liked.
DK: Apart from being these huge superstars, the quality that appeals to me the most is that they are both such grounded, simple, genuine human beings. They genuinely care about people around them and it is something that I want to carry forward as well. You should be a good actor in this business but it's important to be a good human being as well.Β
MXP: From essaying supporting roles in Uri and 83 to bagging one of the lead characters in a Dharma film. Tell us about your journey so far. Are you happy with the way your career is shaping up?
DK: The trajectory is in the right direction and I couldn't have planned it any better. It's been about six years in Mumbai now. When I moved here, I had no expectations. I came to Mumbai for modeling, to see and explore what the city has to offer. When I moved here, this whole film and Bollywood environment really engulfed me. That's when I realised that I enjoy doing this and I want to do this. Then, I worked really hard and I've been rewarded for it as well. My first break came around three years into Mumbai with Uri. Till now, whatever work I've done, it's just been because of auditioning. As soon as I finished Uri, I started work on 83. In fact, for 83, I had auditioned before Uri as well. The timings just aligned really well. After finishing 83, Panchami asked me to audition for Gehraiyaan and I cracked that too. It's working out fine till now. Like you said, from supporting roles to playing a lead part. Well, that's the responsibility an actor really looks forward to and I'm glad I have that responsibility. I've done my job honestly and I hope it replicates onscreen. I'm very fortunate that so early in my career, I've been a part of films that have been unanimously loved by everyone.Β
MXP: After playing a soldier & cricketer, you'll now be seen as a typical husband in Gehraiyaan which is a romantic drama. Is it a conscious decision to choose such diverse characters at the beginning of your career?Β
DK: Of course, I think it's the choices that define an actor and I've been fortunate also that I waited and the right opportunities have come my way. So yes, it's a conscious decision of displaying your versatility and choosing different parts.Β
MXP: When you got to know that Gehraiyaan will not be released in theatres, were you disappointed?
DK: I was not disappointed at all. In fact, I'm elated and excited. As an artist, you want your work to reach the widest audience possible and Amazon Prime Video provides exactly that. Our film is going to be released in over 240 countries and territories, so just imagine the number of people who are going to watch it. See, the charm of theatres will always stay and that's a different charm altogether. But OTT is here to stay as well. We've survived on that for the last two years and it's a pleasant change.Β
MXP: Earlier, Karan Johar had revealed that you lied about your height being 6'2" because you thought that you might lose the part for being too tall (6'4"). Have you experienced something like this before?
DK: When you start your career in Mumbai, usually you're auditioning for a lot of ads. During auditions, on the slate, you write details like name, age, contact number, height, etc. I felt that if I write 6'4", people will think he's too tall. I thought, who is going to come and measure me. Also, the co-actor I was auditioning with was a little short in comparison. So, I thought let's lie about my height but that didn't last for too long.Β
I think my height has always helped me in my career because my Uri director told me that he was looking for someone who's tall and has broad shoulders for the role. So, I got that. Then, I got Ravi Shastri's part (in 83) because he's tall as well. I'm proud of my height and there's nothing like I'm consciously trying to hide it.
MXP: After Gehraiyaan, what's in store for your fans?
DK: There have been a lot of exciting conversations happening. No confirmations yet. But, it's just been a matter of time when we announce something really exciting.Β
MXP: At last, a message for your fans. Why should they watch the film?
DK: It's an exciting and engaging film with a new take on relationships which, I feel, is relatable. The music is great. If I want to sum up our film in a word, I would say it is fresh. Because it has a fresh perspective, fresh pairing, music, and the way it is shot. So ya, I'm quite excited

During the #MeToo movement that jolted Bollywood, one of the big names that came up often was that of director Sajid Khan, when several women had raised complaints against him. Actress Sherlyn Chopra also shared her experience with the director and narrated an old incident.
She revealed that back in 2005, she met the director after she lost her father, and had to face some uncomfortable behaviour. Responding to a tweet about Sajid, she said, "When I had met him in April 2005, a few days after my fatherβs demise, he had taken his p**is out of his pants and had asked me to feel it. I remember having told him that I know how a p**is feels like & that the purpose of my meeting with him was not to feel or rate his p**is (sic)."

Naturally, people asked her on social media that why she decided to stay shut about this unfortunate incident all these years. "He has the 'superstars' of Bollywood to vouch for his 'character'. It's my word against theirs. The Bollywood mafia is a strong syndicateβ, she responded to a user.
βAfter flashing his p**is, he had not only asked me to touch it & feel it but also asked me if I had ever seen a p**is as well endowed as his,β she added. Following numerous allegations against him, Sajid was eventually suspended from the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association for one year. At that time he was working on his film Housefull 4 and had to quit the film midway.

The director had, however, confidently denied all allegations. "I'm under suspension from the directorβs association and am not working since the last 6 months. I will finish off my suspension period for the next few months and only then consider work,β he said in an interview.

Netflix and Chill!
Or maybe, Netflix, and Chill The F*** Out!
Yep! That's right. Looks like Netflix has taken the whole chilling game way too seriously now.
This is, at least, according to many of the viewers who have been left horrified after watching a new show on the international streaming platform.
Netflix's new show The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (Yeah, I know! A really long name) has reportedly left many fans shocked with a controversial *** scene.
Β© Netflix
The new show, which falls under the category of Dark Comedy and Thriller, is a miniseries created by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson, and Larry Dorf.
The eight-episode-long first season is centred around the life of a heartbroken woman named Anna, which is played by Hollywood actress Kristen Bell.
Β© Reuters
In the show, Anna is unsure of whether or not she witnessed a murder and takes it upon herself to find the truth.
While the show has received mixed reviews from critics, it is creating a buzz around social media for showcasing a rather graphic *** scene that has left viewers just mortified.
At the end of the fifth episode, Kristen Bell's character can be seen stripping off on her doorstep before having steamy *** with Rex, a character played by Benjamin Levy Aguilar.
Now, while *** scenes have rather been normalized in filmsΒ and show across countries, this one apparently takes it up a notch.
In this particular *** scene, the couple actually ends up having *** in the shower, on the stairs, and even against a window, with the footage obviously alarming people whose kids may have access to Netflix and other platforms.

Indiaβs white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma, who returned to action a couple of days back, is set to become the countryβs new Test captain in the coming days. The selectors are satisfied with his improved level and have decided to hand him the red-ball captaincy.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the national selection committee chaired by former fast bowler Chetan Sharma has made its mind to hand over the Test captaincy to the 34-year-old opener.
Β© Reuters
The date hasnβt been finalised yet but it is expected that the formal announcement will be made when the selectors convene to decide on Indiaβs squads for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka.
Β β...a date for the selection committee meeting ahead of the series has not been finalised but whenever the Chetan Sharma-led committee meets, it is most likely to anoint Rohit Sharma as the skipper for the Tests, making him the India captain across formats,β read a report published in Cricbuzz.
Β© Reuters
When Virat Kohli shocked the whole world by announcing his Test resignation after India suffered a 2-0 series loss in South Africa, Rohit was considered to be the front-runner to replace him.
The only concern with Rohit was his hamstring issue which forced him to miss quite a few games in the last couple of seasons. He was ruled out of the whole tour of South Africa due to the same issue.
Β© Reuters
There were no Test matches in between and it allowed the BCCI the time to play the waiting game. Before handing the Test captaincy to Rohit, the BCCI wanted to make sure if he was fit enough to lead the side in the gameβs most challenging format.
During the two-month break Rohit worked hard on his fitness and even shed a few kilos on the advice of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) specialists. The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, and secretary Jay Shah were in action when Rohit returned to the field after a gap of two months.
Β© Reuters
Watching him take on the West Indies bowlers in the first ODI in Ahmedabad perhaps convinced the BCCI top brass that he had overcome his fitness concerns and could be trusted with shouldering the teamβs responsibility in the red-ball format.
The fans on social networking were divided in their opinions. Those in favour hailed it as the beginning of a new era while those against the move slammed the BCCI for not taking into consideration Rohitβs workload management.
Β© Reuters
Supporters also argued that that since India donβt have many challenging series this season, it was the ideal opportunity to hand over the Test leadership to a youngster. It would have allowed him to settle down in the role and grow in confidence.
Thank god, otherwise KL would have taken Indian cricket to new lows
β IndiaIsOne (@nehalsdua) February 8, 2022If he manages his injury rate, then itβs a W for everyone .
β Pradeep #LM7 (@KLRveriyan) February 8, 2022Good choice for captaincy till 2023 WTC and ODI WC
But fitness is the only issue which might be compounded by all format captaincy
Hopefully his captaincy experience helps him overcome that pressure

β kavya45 (@bleedhitman45) February 8, 2022Who reported this to cricbuzz.. if its true i welcome the change.. Rohit bhai sounds very tactical to me.. I believe he identifies and grooms the next indian team captain @ImRo45 @cricbuzz
β Rajesh (@poppoppu_) February 8, 2022Congratulations. Hope he can do justice to the role
β Stanning (@Cric_fanatic_) February 8, 20228 tests in Asian conditions coming up... Maybe best time to groom a young captain in Pant or KL.. Let rohit focus on 2 WCs and his workload management !

β Rizz (@kohlixpant) February 8, 2022Don't worry KL will be captain in SENA, now.
β SAM (@sam_titanium) February 8, 2022With this decision, it's clear that the BCCI is using Rohit as a stopgap so that they could groom the next leader while he is incharge.

When the trailer for Gehraiyaan first launched, one of the most common reactions coming out of people was strikingly similar to how my neighbourhood aunties react to almost anything they donβt understand - shallow, dramatic and uninformed.Β
A movie that skimmed through the lines of love, from a nuanced lens, from the looks of it through the trailer at least, was high on emotions, drama and chemistry.Β
And burning up the screen together were actors Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi who engaged in some very intense and intimate scenes for the film.
Had a very interesting conversation today where a friend told me "How #RanveerSingh ALLOWED #DeepikaPadukone to do such bold scenes in #Gehraiyaan "
My first response was - Deepika started her career before him.!! Also, dint he also do Befikre ?!
β Sadhana (@Thethinfoodie) February 2, 2022
And considering it was directed by Shakun Batra, who is known to tap into such deep emotions, we expected nothing less.Β Β
However, people on social media were more than curious to ask questions that besides not making sense, also invited a savage reply from the actress herself.
Also why would Deepika need Ranveer s permission
β Bishal Kashyap (@Bishal4bishal) February 2, 2022Allowed ! Allowed who!? Why! She is doing her job nothing else and it's a relationship and partrenship not some slavery or something else , their is gender equality and equality in a realationsbip too .
β Ben Sidhoum Siham (@SidhoumSiham) February 2, 2022Who is he to allow or not allow her to make choices as a professional actor?! When he kisses his female costars in his next films will ppl wonder if DP gave permission? Regressive aunties can f**k off! Deepika continues to do her thing & that has everyone bothered #Gehraiyaan https://t.co/VL7Fhq5FqY
β Aish (@deepikalove86) February 2, 2022 One such question was where several people tried to ask Deepika if her husband and actor Ranveer Singh was okay with her on-screen intimate moments with her co-star, and whether or not she sought 'permission' from him.
Who is he to allow or not allow her to make choices as a professional actor?! When he kisses his female costars in his next films will ppl wonder if DP gave permission? Regressive aunties can f**k off! Deepika continues to do her thing & that has everyone bothered #Gehraiyaan https://t.co/VL7Fhq5FqY
β Aish (@deepikalove86) February 2, 2022Β Replying to the comment while on an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Deepika said, βItβs stupid that weβre even reacting to it. I think, for us, thatβs the most important thing. I donβt read comments. Iβm pretty certain even he doesnβt. And, I think. Yuck! It just feels so stupid.β
She further went on to say, βI think he is extremely proud. Heβs extremely proud of the film that we made and heβs extremely proud of my performance.β
Deepika Padukone Reacts To Trolls Asking If Ranveer Singh Gave 'Permission' For Bold Scenes In Gehraiyaanhttps://t.co/pK8XodVdug
β Muzaffarpur Wala (@WalaMuzaffarpur) February 8, 2022
As far as talking about the role of intimacy in the film was concerned, Deepika commented, βThere is so much more to the film than intimacy. The intimacy comes in when you are trying to be authentic with modern-day relationships. It's just a part of the film. A lot of time we shy away from showing what relationships in real life are or what they could be on screen."

Shark Tank India started airing in India on December 20, 2021, last year and ended its season one on February 4, 2022.Β
Ever since the show aired, it grabbed eyeballs, made headlines and became a talking point on social media.Β
Now, the show has found itself in a new scoop after an entrepreneur claimed that he was one of the contestants on the show but his episode wasnβt aired for reasons unknown to him.Β
Β© Sony TV YouTube
He also blamed the βSharksβ and lashed out at them - Ashneer Grover, Aman Gupta and Peyush Bansal, in particular.Β
Taking to Twitter, entrepreneur Akshay Shah, founder and CEO iWeb, went on a rant as he tweeted, βSo we had featured in #sharktankindia too but our episode has not been telecast due to reasons best known to the Channel & Sharks however I am putting down a thread for the benefit of all my entrepreneurial brethren and the public in general on Shark Tank India.βΒ
He further wrote about the process and how he was asked to present his pitch in Hindi even though βat times your USP can get diluted but that's how the scheme of things is.βΒ
He accused the channel of favouritism and stated, βsome guys are given more practice and attention from the 1st day and if I can connect the dots I feel they are the channel's so-called recommendation to the Sharks to invest, with whom they spend less time are maybe the backups or wild cards who are left in the tank to test their luck, we were one of them.βΒ
Β© Sony TV
He continued saying, βMy wife who is also our director sales and my 11-year-old daughter were also called for the side kick and TRPs :)β.Β
Further, he admitted that his βbusiness is not straightforward and with pivots and a business model second to none, we tried our best to make the pitch as simple as possible and had it telecast am sure the Common Man would have understood and fellow entrepreneurs benefitted but where we feel the problem was, is the Sharks! Technically, we have as much business exposure as the Sharks sitting on the other side and since our Business Model is second to none and a bit against one of the Shark's Business Model is where the games began :).βΒ
Explaining his business model, he said that it directly went against Ashneer Groverβs business of zero MDR. βSo when we said we have 700k students with us, his exactΒ was "Data to Kilo ke Bhaav main Chandni Chowk pe bikta hai!!" My reply to Mr Grover is, sir, this is not a name place animal thing data like you might be capturing in BharatPe to show GMV and gain valuation & funding,β Shah said.Β
Β© Sony TV
He then went on to slam boAt founder Aman Gupta who had a problem with the name and logo of their company.Β
βSo my reply to Aman is, Sirjee! yeh koi USB headset nai, that aasani se samaj aa jayega, thoda vakt lagega this is hightech :) Secondly, trust me, till date I have not understood why is boAt called boAt and your company called Imagine Marketing Limited, but I can't ask, right!!!βΒ
He then added, βIf someday tables turn, I will ask him the same question in the same arrogant tone and with the same expression he did that to us. I mean, we are in SharkTank, selected from over thousands of applicants so the channel and their team would have done some due diligence, right? Thoda to respect do fellow entrepreneurs ko, am here to pitch my business not take a brand name approval from you, Mr Shark!!!βΒ
Β© Sony TV
Shah then said that Namita Thapar was kind to them and even debated with Ashneer Grover to be respectful towards their grit but questioned her why she didnβt opt out of other tech pitches as she opted out of theirs after saying she had no understanding of it.Β
He then targeted Peyush Bansal and said, βNext came in was LensKart #PeeyushBansal who had started up an Education discovery platform before he started LensKart and since he could not monetize nor run it nor earn via its marketplace his fixation was that this can't scale up!βΒ
Anupam Mittal had an issue with that one Gujarati line that Shah used in his pitch which he claims was the channel's idea. He said, βLast came in the shaadi(.)com hero Mr #anupammittalΒ who also had a serious problem with me pitching 1 line in gujarati which is my native language which I had done only and only at the behest of the channel to make the pitch a bit entertaining. We had rehearsed this time and again with the channel creative and they had even advised me to use a few more gujju words just to keep the pitch light but alas it seems the Sharks were not as well trained as we were and hence twice I was asked by Mr Mittal why did I say 1 line in Gujarati as if that pierced him like a bullet - to which I had to retort that I am a gujju so it came naturally (although I wanted to say go and ask the channel creative sirjee if this hurts u so much as its they who told me to speak this line in Gujarati!βΒ
Β© Sony TV
Signing off, he wrote, βCheers and thanks for reading, hope this helps and remember 1 thing,
Raja raja hota hai, chahe bada ho ya chota, doesn't matter, I said the same to Rannvijay post shoot when he asked me how I am feeling, I even told him god willing I challenge the so called Sharks and will replace them in the years to come on the show and do real justice to my fellow entrepreneurs with humility as I have been on the other side of the table too :) Cheers!!!βΒ
Take a look at his long Twitter thread below:Β

India are set to take on the West Indies in the second ODI in Ahmedabad on Wednesday with an eye on securing the three-match series after taking a 1-0 lead on Sunday. India had outclassed the West Indies by six wickets in the series opener thanks to exceptional performances from Yuzvendra Chahal and Rohit Sharma.Β
Chahal picked up four wickets for 49 and was the pick of the bowlers at the Narendra Modi Stadium where the pitch assisted spinners.Β
India had opted to go with Washington Sundar as the second spin bowler in the playing XI and he too did well with the ball, picking up three wickets for 30 runs.

However, with the pitch assisting spinners and the West Indies batters finding it hard to face turning deliveries, the hosts might be tempted to include another spinner in Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI.Β
The left-arm spinner, who last played international cricket six months back, took to Twitter to share a few pictures from his training session and his cryptic caption left fans wondering whether Kuldeep will get a game tomorrow (February 9).Β

Cricket fans who have been waiting to see the left-arm spinner back in India colours expressed their happiness and shared their expectations from the bowler, if he gets a chance to play the second ODI in Ahmedabad.Β

β HARSHIT (@INVINCIBLE45_) February 8, 2022Β India have limited 50-over games left as they look to find the perfect combination for the next ODI World Cup, set to be played in India next year.Β
India tried Ravichandran Ashwin in South Africa but he failed to provide breakthroughs in the middle overs. With Ashwin out of the mix, Kuldeep's chances to play against the West Indies seem bright.Β

If he does get a place in the playing XI, it will be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma manages three spinners against an explosive West Indies batting line-up.
Rohit has already backed Yuzvendra Chahal and the new India white-ball captain made his intentions clear that going forward the team is banking on the leg spinner to deliver in big matches. And it feels like Kuldeep too needs similar support from the team management and captain.
