Virat Kohli became a household name in the country after he led the Indian Under-19 team to their second World Cup in 2008. It was the same year when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to come up with the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Kohli was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Ever since the inception of the IPL, Kohli has been a part of the RCB camp.
He overtook the captaincy role in the franchise in 2013 and after leading the team for nine years, the former India captain decided to step down as the skipper of the team.
From 2008 to 2021, Virat Kohli has come a long way.

While the Bengaluru-based franchise has always made Kohli feel at home during all the previous 14 editions of the IPL, it was not the case in the inaugural edition of the league.
Kohli, while speaking on an RCB podcast, recalled an incident from his early days at RCB where the team's treatment towards him left Kohli disappointed.
"After the season, because I was an Under-19 boy, I was sent to the airport in an Omni van. Everyone else was getting a decent car to go, and I was the only one that was left, and they probably would have said just give him anything and just get him to the airport," Kohli said during the podcast.

"And that was not a good car, I’m sorry to say, but I would have loved at least a decent car which was not broken, something through which I could see the road, this one was on its last leg. So, not a good memory," Kohli added.
It is hard to imagine Kohli travelling in an Omni van, especially considering he is now one of the most popular cricketers in the world and that he is the brand ambassador of one of the leading luxury car brands -- Audi.

In terms of cricket, RCB had a forgettable season in 2008 as they finished seventh on the points table. The Rahul Dravid-led side could only manage to win four matches out of 14.
Kohli had scored 165 runs in 13 matches at an average of 15 in 2008. His best season as a batter came in 2016 when Kohli amassed 973 runs at a staggering average of 81.08.
The then RCB skipper hit four centuries and seven half-centuries in that season but he could not manage to take the team to the title as Bengaluru lost to SRH in the summit clash.

Virat Kohli is the only player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) who has never switched franchises since the tournament’s inception.
After guiding India to the 2008 Under-19 World Cup, the Delhi-born cricketer had become a household name. His overnight stardom had made him one of the most sought after teenage talents ahead of the inaugural edition of the IPL.

Since he belonged to Delhi, the opportunity to sign him was first given to Delhi Daredevils but owing to the team combination they opted for fast bowler Pradeep Sangwan. It was a golden opportunity and the Bengaluru-based outfit leapfrogged other franchises and brought him on board for a paltry sum of Rs 13 lakh.
Since then the IPL has completed 14 years and the 15th season is just over a month away. When Kohli had joined RCB he was just another teenager but now he has become the face of Indian cricket. The 33-year-old batter has come a long way and his long association with the franchise has made him synonymous with the red and black army.
A brilliant partnership between @imVkohli & @Gmaxi_32 comes to an end.

RCB have done well to keep hold of their marquee player for all these years but we often forget the role Kohli played in making it happen. He could’ve easily earned more by entering the auction but he decided against it.
To the franchise’s credit, the RCB owners also made sure that their biggest asset was paid handsomely. They made sure that he was the highest paid cricketer in the whole league – a tag that he held until last year. But money is not the only reason why a cricketer plays the sport.

There is no IPL fan in the whole world who didn’t wish for Kohli to ditch RCB and join their favourite franchise. Not just the fans, there was a stage when even Kohli had second thoughts about whether he should continue with the RCB or look for other challenges.
Kohli made this revelation himself on the RCB podcast. The former India skipper revealed that several franchises had approached him to reject RCB’s new contract and put his name up for auction.

Having spent considerable years in the same outfit, Kohli couldn’t win any silverware and perhaps that’s why he started having second thoughts about his future at the club. But to the delight of RCB’s incredible fanbase, he decided to stay.
“I’ve been approached a few times as well — to come into the auction somehow — I have thought about it,” Kohli said in the RCB podcast as quoted by India.com.

“At the end of the day, a person lives a certain number of years, and then you die and life moves on. There have been many great players who have won trophies and things like that but no one addresses you like that. If you are a good person, people like you and if you are a bad guy, they stay away from you. Eventually, that’s what life is all about,” Kohli explained.

We all go through moments in our life when we start having second thoughts about something. But, in the end, all that matters is the final decision.
Kohli has now publicly stated that he wishes to continue at RCB till the end of his playing days. Whether he wins the IPL trophy or not, it will be difficult for anyone else to match his legacy.

Fashion designer Niti Singhal was one of the 198 contestants on the business based-reality show Shark Tank India.
She had pitched her business model Twee in One which was rejected by “Shark” Ashneer Grover who was harsh in his criticism.

View this post on InstagramSpeaking to Hindustan Times about the irony and the harsh criticism that she received from Ashneer Grover, Niti said, “With the kind of product I have, there has been critical feedback for a long time. I am used to it. Even mentors in the fashion industry said a few harsh things over the years. So I have received criticism, of course not as harsh as Ashneer's. But since I have, it has made me thick-skinned. I believe in my product so I have the confidence to face all criticism. And in the end, any PR is good PR, even if people are talking bad about it.”
She further added, “They actually cut his speech half. He actually spoke twice so you can imagine the amount of things I heard. They were sweet enough to edit it out. It went on for a long time. But not like unke bolne se mera business band hoga (It's not as if his comments will shut my business). I was just thinking it's good. TRP badh rahi hai (the TRP is increasing).”

But the funny thing is that his wife Madhuri was wearing the dress I gifted him on The Kapil Sharma Show. It's kind of funny since he always says, 'Yeh sab dogalapan hai' but I was reminded of that line when I saw it.”

Sonu Nigam is without a doubt one of the best singers we have in the Hindi film industry. He has been at the top of his game since the ‘90s and continues to command a die-hard fan following.
However, in recent years, he isn’t as much in demand as he once was and the reason for that could be how music composers and film producers nowadays believe in auditioning singers.
They get a couple of singers on board and record a song in their voices. After a screening process, they ultimately decide on the singer’s voice they think will be best suited for the song.
    © Instagram/Sonu Nigam
Being a star singer with the kind of experience that he has, this whole “auditioning” process isn’t something that Sonu agrees upon and that is the reason we don’t hear his voice much these days in Bollywood songs.

Moreover, he revealed in an interview with Bollywood Hungama that he had recorded the chartbuster track Subhanallah from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani but his version of the song was dropped and makers opted for Indian Idol 5 winner Sreerama Chandra’s version.
The song was composed by Pritam, who is now composing music for the upcoming Aamir Khan film Laal Singh Chaddha and approached Sonu to sing a song for the film after the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fiasco.
    © Instagram/Sonu Nigam
Recalling the incident and why he agreed to come on board for Laal Singh Chaddha, Sonu told the website, “Pritam, very nicely he said, 'Sonu you are very special to me. I have a very special connection with you because you sang in my debut. You're a part of my debut. I've much respect for you. I don't want, and it happens nowadays, that a song is sung by multiple people and then one is chosen from there'. Now, this is the trend but I don't want to be a part of. Pritam also told me the same thing, 'This is why I'm asking you to be a part of a song that will not be sung by any other singer'. This was Aamir's decision that 'Sonu Nigam will sing this song'. So since the producer and star has said, so now it won't be that 'Let us make Sonu also sing the song and then compare'.”

He continued, “So Pritam spoke to me lovingly and I really respect that. He said that I won't tell you to sing for a track where I know it will be sung by eight other singers. What if your song isn't made a part of the film! Because I had sung the song Subhanallah, the last song for Pritam. When the song in my voice wasn't kept, I told Pritam: 'Don't tell me again'. According to me, I sang the song beautifully. But the song was in Sreerama Chandra's fate so he got it. That's okay. I don't mind if anyone else sings. I didn't ask, did I tell, 'Give me the song? Keep calling me? Keep trying with me?' No, I don't want to.”
    © Instagram/Sonu Nigam
Sonu further talked about how he isn’t an insecure person and doesn’t run after music directors or producers to hire him. And that his fans should be proud of him as he is not a beggar.

He said, “Agar mere shubhchintak jo hain, unko pata chale ke Sonu Nigam toh bhikhaari hai, saamne raja ban ke ghoomta hai, par actually peeche bhikhaari hai (How will my wellwishers feel if I started begging for work in secret, while pretending to be a king in front of everyone)…”
Sonu last sang for Aamir Khan in the 2014 blockbuster PK where he crooned Love Is A Waste Of Time and Bhagwaan Hai Kahaan Re Tu.

In recent times, he has crooned for Akshay Kumar in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Shah Rukh Khan in Raees, Ranbir Kapoor in Sanju & John Abraham in Romeo Akbar Walter.

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan is slowly and steadily cementing her place as one of the most prominent names in the industry.

Sara, who is the daughter of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, made her debut back in 2018 with Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
    © Zee5
Well, fair to say it's been a decent four years of experience for the actress, who has done a wide range of films in that period with Love Aaj Kal, Coolie No. 1, Rohit Shetty's Simmba, and the recently released Atrangi Re, which was directed by Anand L Rai.

Now, while she is all ready and set to go for newer projects, it appears that she is actually absolutely done with a certain aspect of Bollywood film.
According to Sara, there is one thing that she doesn't want to do anymore, and it's starring in any more Bollywood remakes.
As you know, Sara starred alongside Varun Dhawan in Coolie No 1, which was the remake of the 1995 film starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.
She also did Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal opposite ex-boyfriend Kartik Aaryan, with the film being a remake of Saif and Deepika Padukone's first film.

“No more remakes for me right now. I will star in the remake of Atrangi Re. You tell Aanand ji and we will start rolling at India Gate in Delhi,” Sara told Hindustan Times.

Sara then spoke about her belief in versatility and how doing a wide range of different films is why she loves to act in the first place.
“The favorite thing of my job is that ek din main Ranveer Singh ke saath high energy gaane karungi, aur doosre din Dhanush ke saath scene karungi, Varun (Dhawan) ke saath comedy. That’s why I do what I do so that I can do everything.” said Sara.
The 26-year-old also revealed how she has now become “greedier for meaty parts”, especially, since Atrangi Re.
    © Prime Video
“For me, the role and screen time matter. Of course, having done Aanand ji’s film, I am greedy, I want more meaty parts. I want to do all kinds of films. Today, if Rohit Shetty (director of Simmba) comes to me with another commercial film where he needs me to do another Aankh Maare, I will do it.

“After seeing the nuances with which Anand ji directed me wherein he told me: ‘Your character in Atrangi Re has zubaan pe gaali aur aankhon mein nahin chahiye’... Such things are very exciting to hear,” she said.
Sara will next be seen in Laxman Utekar’s upcoming project opposite Vicky Kaushal, with the film's shooting already reported to be wrapped up in Indore.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, on February 6, was seen bidding the last goodbye to Lata Mangeshkar by offering his prayers and “blowing” duas. A video from the last rite ceremony made it to the internet in which SRK is seen with his manager Pooja Dadlani. While the actor was appreciated for his gesture, many people mistook the actor's facial motion for spitting, and they began trolling him unnecessarily.

The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see two new teams -- Ahmedabad and Lucknow -- fighting it out with the existing eight franchises for the title.
KL Rahul has been named as the captain of Lucknow while all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the skipper of Ahmedabad.
Hardik, who has played for the five-time champions Mumbai Indians ever since he made his debut in the IPL, had said that he is super excited to start a new journey in the franchise-based T20 league with Ahmedabad.

"Hardik Pandya wanted to become the Captain of Mumbai Indians. And he had said this to the franchise as well," a journalist said during a panel discussion on Sports Tak's YouTube channel.

Mumbai Indians have won five IPL titles under Rohit Sharma's leadership -- the most by any IPL franchise. And fans, rightly, expressed their disappointment over Hardik's desire to take up the leadership role despite the team doing well under the current captain.

In order to revive the India-Pakistan rivalry, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja had said last month that he would approach the International Cricket Council (ICC) with a proposal to start a four-nation T20I series.
Besides India and Pakistan, the other two teams as per Raja’s proposed quadrangular series were Australia and England.
    Pakistan | India | England | Australia

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja to propose an annual T20I quadrangular series in the next ICC meeting

    — Cricket Pakistan (@cricketpakcompk) January 11, 2022
When Raja came up with the idea, it garnered a lot of headlines but everybody knew bringing the BCCI on board would be a tough task.
As expected the BCCI secretary Jay Shah has rejected the proposal saying it was nothing but a “short-term commercial initiative”. The BCCI No. 2 said that with the addition of two new IPL teams, the duration of the IPL is set to expand.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, "with the IPL window expanding and the ICC events every year in the cycle, our primary responsibility is to safeguard bilateral cricket at home, with emphasis on Test cricket". (To Reuters).
    — Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) February 7, 2022
“With the IPL window expanding and the ICC (global) events every year in the cycle, our primary responsibility is to safeguard bilateral cricket at home, with emphasis on test cricket,” he told Reuters.
Hence, rather than brainstorming about a new quadrangular series, their focus was on securing an extended window for the IPL, safeguarding the bilateral cricket series at home, and promoting Test cricket.
    © Reuters
“I am also looking forward to seeing cricket at the Olympics, as that will help the game grow. Expansion of the sport is a challenge that our game faces and we must prioritise it over any short-term commercial initiative,” he added.

Since the BCCI is the most powerful cricket board in the world, it realises its responsibility towards promoting the game and making it global like any other sport. Shah said that rather than short-term financial gains, the expansion of the sport is among their top priorities. Their long-term focus is on cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics.
    © Reuters
The four-nation series makes sense for a country like Pakistan which relies heavily on ICC’s grants for their survival but not so much for the other three nations who are the wealthiest cricket economies in the world.

It’s quite clear why Pakistan is stressing so much on the four-nation series as it can help them survive but the BCCI doesn’t have any concerns of that sort and that’s why it doesn’t make sense for them to green signal this initiative.
    © Reuters
Also, don’t forget that the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had proposed a similar four-nation ODI Super Series involving India, Australia, England and one more top team in 2019. The inaugural edition of the multi-nation event was supposed to take place in India last year but the plan had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Australia, England, India and another top team will feature in the Super Series which begins in 2021 and the first edition of the tournament will be played in India,” Ganguly was quoted saying by Telegraph in 2019.
    © Reuters
Another reason why the BCCI is averse to Raja’s proposal as it doesn’t want to create a direct competition for its proposed mini-tournament.
