'Politics Has Reached...' Urmila On Claims Of SRK 'Spitting' At Lata Mangeshkar's Funeral

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, on February 6, was seen bidding the last goodbye to Lata Mangeshkar by offering his prayers and “blowing” duas. A video from the last rite ceremony made it to the internet in which SRK is seen with his manager Pooja Dadlani. While the actor was appreciated for his gesture, many people mistook the actor's facial motion for spitting, and they began trolling him unnecessarily.

BJP leader Arun Yadav was amongst the people who stirred this controversy in a tweet after which a few netizens started trolling SRK for 'spitting' on the mortal remains of the legendary singer.

However, the actor's fans and various well-known personalities including Swara Bhasker and Ashoke Pandit came out in his support. Now, SRK's Chamatkaar co-star Urmila Matondkar too has criticised the people who had accused the superstar of 'spitting'.

India Today has quoted Urmila saying, "As a society, we have deteriorated so much that we think praying is spitting. You are talking about an actor who has represented the country on various international platforms. Politics has reached such low levels and it's really sad".

Lata Mangeshkar, on January 8, was taken to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia. On February 6, she died of multiple organ failure at the age of 92 and was cremated at Dadar's Shivaji Park with full state honours.

Urmila also expressed her grief at Mangeshkar's death in a tweet. She posted her song Allah Tero Naam and wrote, "Apart from being a #Legend an exemplary life of a #Daughter of #India who showed us what a daughter can achieve and stand tall for the entire #family #RIPLataMangeshkar".
