Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan pacer, posted a video on his YouTube channel as he recalled the telephonic conversation he had with the legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar who passed away on Sunday, February 6 aged 92. Mangeshkar, who ruled the music industry for decades, was famous across the world and tributes came from all parts of the globe for the 'nightingale of India.'
Lata Mangeshkar was an avid cricket fan and cricketers from past and present generations, even from across the border, paid tribute to the legendary singer as she left for her heavenly abode on Sunday.
On my last visit to India in 2016, i had the pleasure of speaking to her on the phone. She paid heartfelt tributes to Mehdi Hasan sb & Madam Noor Jehan.
    There won't be another. #LataMangeshkar .
I've told the conversation details in the video below: https://t.co/70L6UzpJtV pic.twitter.com/k8ZC3oZwZM
    — Shoaib Akhtar (@shoaib100mph) February 6, 2022
Shoaib Akhtar, who was one of the fastest bowlers in world cricket, paid tribute to the legendary singer and said he regretted never meeting her in person.

Akhtar said when he was in India in 2016, he had the honour of speaking to Lata Mangeshkar over a phone call. He said the legendary singer urged him to address her as maa when he greeted her by calling her Lata ji.
"In 2016, when I was working in India, I had the honour of speaking to her over the phone. I greeted her and she responded in her melodious voice. When I addressed her as Lata ji, she insisted I call her maa (mother). I addressed her as maa ji from there on," Shoaib said in the video.
    Watch the video here:

Shoaib also added that Lata Mangeshkar also spoke to him about his fierce rivalry with legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar.

"She told me that she had watched my matches and my battles with Sachin. She told me she found me aggressive on the pitch. She said my temper was famous," he added.
I consider myself fortunate to have been a part of Lata Didi’s life. She always showered me with her love and blessings.

With her passing away, a part of me feels lost too.

She’ll always continue to live in our hearts through her music. pic.twitter.com/v5SK7q23hs
    — Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) February 6, 2022 Shoaib mentioned that he wanted to meet her in person but she was fasting at that time (during his trip to India in 2016) and he had to leave for Pakistan. After that trip, he did not get a chance to go back to India and he regretted not getting to speak to her again.
Lata Mangeshkar was awarded the highest civilian award -- Bharat Ratna -- back in 2001 and her demise has left a huge void in Indian cinema.

Virat Kohli is as famous for his on-field aggression as he is for his world-class batting. He is a player who wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn’t like to hold back his feelings.
While some people love him for his being true to his nature on the field, many others find his aggression a bit too much. They often accuse him of being rude and arrogant to his opponents and not setting a right example for the young kids who admire him so much.
    © Reuters
There were reports last year after the World Test Championship final that had alleged that some of the senior team members had issues with Kohli's attitude and they had even complained about the same to the BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

Since then, many things have changed. Kohli, who used to be India’s all-format captain, has either stepped down or was sacked from the national team’s leadership role.
    © Reuters
Arguably the biggest name in Indian cricket, Kohli has been reduced to just another squad player. His wings have been chopped off and the white-ball captaincy has been handed to Rohit Sharma.

Since both Kohli and ‘Hitman’ are polar opposites of each other, it was natural that people compared their contrasting leadership styles. The biggest difference between them is that Kohli is all about energy and aggression while the new skipper goes about his business in a calm and composed manner.
    © Reuters
Comparing the styles of the two modern-day greats, former India spinner Pragyan Ojha said that due to Kohli’s aggression some players, who aren’t as expressive as him, might face difficulty in expressing themselves in front of him.

Whereas Rohit knows how to interact with shy characters. He makes them feel at home by giving them the necessary time to open up.

“Kohli is so energetic and expressive that a player who doesn't have similar nature has problems in expressing himself. He doesn't get an idea about expressing his thoughts to the skipper in intense situations,” Ojha said on a Cricbuzz show.
“But Rohit isn't too expressive. He knows that in such a high-intensity game, you will find players who are introverted. This is a major difference in the character or approach of Kohli & Rohit,” he added.
    © Reuters
Ojha said that intensity-wise both the players are on par with one another but Kohli’s in-your-face attitude makes him a bit intimidating for the newcomers and they struggle to open up and speak their mind.

The left-arm otrthodox added that many introverted characters in the team would have been really happy that Kohli wasn’t their leader anymore.
    © Reuters
“Overall, their intensity to win games is the same but many players say that they are comfortable with Rohit. Any new player takes time to open up and Rohit makes that easier despite not being expressive on the field. A shy player gets a bit intimidated by Virat's in-your-face attitude. But the bigger goal of both Virat and Rohit is to take Indian cricket forward,” said the former spinner who represented India in 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and 6 T20Is.

Till the time he was captain, Kohli led Team India with distinction and took Indian cricket to great heights. We shouldn’t forget that his aggression was his strength.
    © Reuters
The majority of us admired his aggression because it brought the best out in him and his teammates. Now that he is not our leader anymore, finding fault in his attitude is really convenient. Let’s just not do that.

Alia Bhatt entered Bollywood in 2012 with Karan Johar's Student of The Year and has established herself amongst the most successful actresses of current times. Fans are eagerly waiting for her next release Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The much-hyped film is slated to hit the big screens on February 25.
Post Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia will next be seen in Shah Rukh Khan-produced Darlings. The project also marks her debut as a producer and features Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew in pivotal roles.

As per the latest buzz, Darlings has taken the OTT route and will premiere on a popular streaming platform this summer. Reportedly, the makers have already sold the film to Netflix for a whopping amount. Yes, you read that right!
Revealing the same, a source informed Pinkvilla, "It’s a dark comedy and the makers felt that the film will be able to reach its target audience through the OTT medium. The conversations were on with multiple players and it's finally Netflix, who has bagged the exclusive streaming rights. The film has been sold for a sum of Rs 80 crore, thereby making it one of the biggest deals for a female led film".
However, an official announcement from the makers is still awaited.

The source further added that the deal is in a similar zone as Deepika Padukone-starrer Gehraiyaan, which got an offer in the range of Rs 80 to 85 crore from Amazon Prime Video. It was part of a deal between Dharma Productions and the streaming platform, who profited handsomely from Shershaah.
For the unversed, Darlings is touted as a dark comedy that revolves around a mother-daughter relationship. Reportedly, Shefali Shah is playing Alia's mother in the film.
Besides Gangubai Kathiwadi and Darlings, Alia also has films like SS Rajamouli's RRR, Ayan Mukerji's Brahmashtra alongside boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor, and Karan Johar's directorial venture Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani opposite Ranveer Singh in her kitty.

The end of 2021 was a fairly good one for Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal who ended up marrying his love Katrina Kaif in what was a dream Bollywood wedding.

    View this post on Instagram
Well, it looks like Vicky is starting this year with a bang as well.

Vicky, who's really seen his stocks rise across Bollywood with powerful performances in many films, is already part of some very exciting projects that include Sam Bahadur and Govinda Naam Mera being some of them.
    © RSVP Movies
However, there is another interesting project that Vicky is now set to be a part of, and it looks super exciting if we're honest.

According to reports, the URI actor is actually teaming up with Bollywood director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and producer Ritesh Sidhwani for a very exciting project.
As per a Pinkvilla report, the trio was even spotted together in Mumbai on what looked like discussions for a reported passion project. And it looks like the reports were actually true as it was no ordinary chit-chat meeting.
According to the report, Vicky will be collaborating with Mehra and Sidhwani on a film based on Mahabharat.
    © YouTube
Yes! According to reports, Vicky will play the role of an iconic character from Mahabharat. Want to guess the name of the film?

The movie will be titled 'Karna', with Vicky, obviously, playing the titular character.
A source close to the development spoke to Pinkvilla, and revealed, “The project is extremely close to Rakeysh’s heart and has been wanting to make a film on it for many years now. Vicky will play the titular role in this mythological drama, which will be narrated from the perspective of Karna. Excel Entertainment will be producing the film and the trio are extremely excited to collaborate on this one. The movie is expected to roll by the end of this year, and Vicky will start with his prep closer to the shooting date,”
    This is not it.
According to reports, Vicky has beaten Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor to the role of Karna in the film.
    © Allu Entertainment
It is reported that Shahid, who will next be seen in the upcoming Jersey film, had been in talks with Mehra earlier, with the movie then being produced by Ronnie Screwvala.

Well, looks like Vicky would be perfect to play the role of Karna, and we sure cannot wait for it.

After the Hyundai controversy that has been raging over social media, sentiments of a large number of Indian citizens have been hurt, courtesy the controversial stand regarding 'freedom of Kashmir'. Not just Hyundai, other brands have also messed up just like this in the past, but did not get under the radar of pissed off netizens, somehow. That just changed, and looks like the first casualty is KFC.
After @HyundaiIndia & @KiaInd its time to say Good bye to @KFC_India pic.twitter.com/FIi6tV5gJM
    — Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga (@TajinderBagga) February 7, 2022
Clearly, the implications started showing immediately, and KFC stepped up and apologised. Here's the tweet.
We deeply apologize for a post that was published on some KFC social media channels outside the country. We honour and respect India, and remain steadfast in our commitment to serving all Indians with pride.
    — KFC India (@KFC_India) February 7, 2022
However, did it work? Looks like an apology post is not sufficient when it comes to doing damage control, judging by the soaring tempers of Indians on Twitter.
It's time to wrap up your business from india , wait and watch. #BoycottKFC

KFC knows everything about Kashmir India Pakistan still the comment Kashmir issue from my side it's a lifetime boycott....
    — I am Rohit (@RohitBidgar) February 8, 2022People are refusing to let KFC India or even the mother brand go scot free because the post was made from KFC Pakistan's handle. Here's an argument for the same.
Hyundai & KFC operate in China as well as Taiwan. But you will not see their Taiwanese subsidiaries ditch One China Policy or call for Taiwan's independence. Because if you do, you will never see them operating from China ever again.

Strength is feared before it is demonstrated.
    — Anand Ranganathan (@ARanganathan72) February 7, 2022
Looks like other brands are not exempt as well, as netizens have kept a track and old incidents are being uncovered as we speak.

Here are some more reactions, that sum up the tense environment permeating on social media right now.

Companies are expected do business and not to dive into geo-political issues, rubbing a nation with 1.3 billion consumers in a wrong way. pic.twitter.com/K45kA7CV48

    — Ashoke Pandit (@ashokepandit) February 7, 2022Looks like brands need to be more vigilant in terms of expressing opinions in issues that don't directly concern them or their business in any way whatsoever, especially when it concerns sensitive geo-political issues such as Kashmir.
