Battling the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Sooryavanshi, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Pushpa has turned out to be the biggest box office hit of 2021. Despite the ongoing coronavirus situation, the pan-India film is inching close to Rs 250 crore mark. Ever since its release, Pushpa: The Rise is creating history at the box office and has turned out to be a hit on IMDb as well.
    View this post on Instagram
On IMDb, the world's most popular source of information related to movies, Pushpa is rated at 8.1 out of 10. Till now, over 21k people have rated it.

With this rating, Allu Arjun's first pan-India release has left Prabhas' Baahubali: The Beginning behind. Yes, you read that right! The first part of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali series had received an 8.0 rating out of 10 on IMDb.
However, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is still ahead of Pushpa with a rating of 8.2.
After the huge success of Pushpa Part 1, the makers have already locked the script of Pushpa 2. In an interview, the director recently revealed that the team is planning to release the second part on December 17, 2022.
View this post on InstagramTalking about the sequel, Sukumar told Pinkvilla, "Pushpa: The Rule is mainly about giving a conclusion, a closure to Pushpa’s life. It’s about the conflict between Pushpa and Shekhawat. When I completed the entire script, I felt that Pushpa 2 has a very interesting drama. I promise, I won’t disappoint and I hope the audience enjoys the sequel too".
For the unversed, Mahesh Babu was the original choice to play the lead role in Pushpa. According to reports, he was in talks with the director, however, they had creative differences due to which the actor refused to be a part of the film. At last, the movie went to Allu Arjun and the rest is history.
Also featuring Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil, Pushpa has become the 7th South Indian film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark at the domestic box office.

Marriages in India just hit different!
We often see videos of gender reveals and wedding functions in foreign countries, but we all know that the marriage game in India is just completely something else.
Add this to the phenomenon that is Bollywood, you've got royal weddings that people just can't get enough of. This was just the case of the recent wedding of actors Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, who married each other in an extravagant fashion at the exotic hotel in Rajasthan.
    View this post on Instagram
Now, with that done and dusted, we know that there is one Bollywood couple who is in line to get a similar reception as and when they do get married.
Of course, we're talking about the one and only couple of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
    View this post on Instagram
Royalty really doesn't come much better than these two, with Ranbir the golden boy of the Kapoor Khaandaan, and Alia being the talented offspring of Bhatt Khaandaan.
The union between the two lovebirds is something that people have been looking really forward to and it sure looks like another royal wedding that will go off in an exotic location if we are to follow history.
However, as excited as we are and I'm sure Brahmastra stars Alia and Ranbir would be too, celebrity astrologer slash Numerologist Niraj Mancchanda has some bad news for everyone.
According to him, the wedding between both will go ahead, but it will only work if, Alia is 'submissive' in the marriage.
Very weird to hear something like that, to be honest.
I mean, both the actors are absolutely exceptional in their fields and we doubt that there should be any such conditions from them when they get married.
However, Niraj believes that it will be the one condition that will decide the fate of their marriage. Niraj, while speaking to Bollywood Life, said, “Ranbir and Alia will get married. As long as Alia is a pawn of RK, the marriage will work wonders.”
Now, I doubt that Ranbir or Alia will be losing any sleep over this, as these beliefs are obviously not 100 per cent certain.
On the other hand, Niraj also gave a take on marriage between stars Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora.

“If Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora get married then it will be a sudden decision taken by Arjun,” said Niraj.

Wow! Let's hope that both the couples stay happy forever and prove this to be absolutely bogus!

Cricket is a great leveller they say. Just look at the highs and lows Team India experienced in a span of one week.
Last week, they registered one of their most memorable Test victories away from home as they breached South Africa’s fortress at Centurion. It was a historic triumph because never before they had beaten South Africa in a red-ball game at the venue. Not just that, the Proteas were unbeaten at this venue for the last seven years.
    View this post on Instagram
So, naturally when the Indian team managed to pull off a stunning result, everybody thought they would run away with the series. Not just the experts, even the players started behaving as if they had already clinched the series.
But sadly this game is not as easy as many people think it to be. No matter how many victories you have under your belt, you still have to start everything from scratch going into the next game.
    © Twitter/BCCI
It’s a cliche but every time players step onto the field, they have to prove their mettle once again for their past performances count for nothing. In professional sport, you can’t take any team for granted because if you do you have to be ready for the consequences.

In the last one week, India and New Zealand, ranked number one and two in the world Test rankings, learned this lesson the hard way. While New Zealand were humbled by Bangladesh in their own backyard, India saw their feathers chopped off by the Proteas – with both the underdogs winning by exactly the same margin of eight wickets.

Looking at the way India performed in Johannesburg, it seemed as if our players were still on cloud nine after securing a win at Centurion. The way Proteas fought back after being humbled in the series opener, they thoroughly deserved to win the match while India deserved to lose.

The only silver lining for the visitors from this eye-opening loss is that the series is not done yet and they have one chance to make amends for their mistakes.
Talking about mistakes, there were numerous reasons why India lost the match in the manner they did.
Here are five such reasons that led to India’s downfall at The Wanderers – a venue where they had never lost a Test match before.
    Arrogance © Reuters
Some might not be able to digest this reason but if you analyse the players’ on-field behaviour throughout in this match, you would realise why we are saying so. From Jasprit Bumrah to Rishabh Pant to Mohammed Siraj, it felt as if the majority of the Indian players were looking for a fight.

The bowlers were more focused on hitting the batters rather than getting them out and it showed in the amount of short-pitch deliveries they bowled. After facing a bouncer, Rishabh Pant charged down the track and threw away his wicket. There were plenty of other examples which exposed our players’ arrogance.
    Overconfidence © Reuters
There is a very thin line between confidence and overconfidence. It’s a cliche but very true. People don’t realise when they have crossed this line and frayed on the other side of the spectrum and the same happened with Indian players in Johannesburg.

In their second innings, fifties from Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara had gotten India in a commanding position and they had the opportunity to kill the game then and there by setting a huge target. Instead the Indian batters undermined the opposition batting prowess and started swinging their bats, perhaps thinking that they already had enough runs in the bank.
Bowlers On Cloud Nine View this post on Instagram
The biggest reason for India’s overseas success are their bowlers and whenever they have done well more often than not we have won matches. However, in Johannesburg our bowlers looked completely off so much so that not many people would argue if we called it their worst performance in recent time.
Barring Shardul Thakur, it seemed the rest of the pacers were yet to get over their Centurion performance. The way they bowled, especially in South Africa’s second innings, they looked a shadow of themselves. After India had set up a 240-run target, they thought they would easily win the match and that was their biggest mistake. They did not do the basics of the game right and tried too many things and by the time they realised their flaws it was too late, the fate of the match was already sealed.
Kohli’s Absence View this post on Instagram
In Virat Kohli’s absence, stand-in skipper KL Rahul tried his best but India definitely missed their regular captain dearly. Just to put into perspective, with Kohli at the helm, Team India has never lost a Test match after setting up a 150-plus target.
Out of 27 such matches, India have triumphed on 25 occasions while two matches have ended in a draw. Going by these stats one could say that with Kohli in charge, the result could have been different.
Siraj’s Unfortunate Injury View this post on Instagram
India suffered a major blow when fast Mohammed Siraj pulled up his hamstring while bowling during South Africa’s first innings. Kudos to him for trying to contribute as much as possible despite the injury but he wasn’t the same bowler as before.
His speed went down quite a bit. His line and length became wayward and Indians were left with only a three-pronged pace attack.

Sachin Tendulkar is arguably one of the finest ever to have played the game of cricket. In a career spanning over two decades, Sachin achieved almost every record that is there for the taking by a batter.

In such a long career, Tendulkar, on many occasions, was on the receiving end of some harsh calls by the on-field umpires.
Despite dealing with howlers throughout his career, Tendulkar was never a fan of introducing technology into the game. It was largely because of him that India didn't trust the decision review system for a long time before it was made mandatory by the ICC.

With the game becoming more and more favourable for the batters, an incident that took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday prompted a suggestion from the Little Master.
In the fourth Ashes Test, Ben Stokes survived a close call after a Cameron Green delivery came back in sharply and hit the off-stump, but fortunately for the England all-rounder, the bail didn't come off and he continued his innings.

    — Jane McGrath’s Barmy Army (@TheBarmyArmy) January 7, 2022
It was such a shocker of an incident that the on-field umpire Paul Reiffel thought the ball had hit Stokes' pads and gave him out LBW. Stokes immediately challenged the call and once the replays confirmed that he was not out, he couldn't stop laughing looking at the turn of events.

Tendulkar posted a video of the incident on Twitter and came up with a suggestion to introduce a new rule in a bid to make the game fairer for bowlers.
"Should a law be introduced called ‘hitting the stumps’ after the ball has hit them but not dislodged the bails? What do you think guys? Let’s be fair to bowlers," Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.

Fans took little time to react to Tendulkar's suggestion and some even trolled the 'god of cricket' for suggesting such a radical change to the game.
A fan said the bails should be completely removed while another one said Tendulkar should've come up with this suggestion when he was an active cricketer.
Say's a batter who has retired already.....
    — Just Logically Speaking (@rsushant327) January 7, 2022Sir you have retired .Let the game be a batsman game and let them enjoy this .

    — ABS (@escape_veloc1ty) January 7, 2022 Stokes rode his luck and went on to score a gritty half-century that helped England to save the follow-on in the ongoing Test match at the SCG.
England finished the day at 258 for seven, trailing Australia by 158 runs in their first innings.

Ever since the emergence of social media, Jackie Shroff is one celeb who often goes viral for just being himself.
It all started with that infamous BTS video of a polio campaign and now, a clip of an older interview of his is making the rounds of social media.
In the clip, Jackie is seen talking about the philosophy of life.
He, in his classic “Bhidu” style, says that he lost his brother, father and mother and in return, he had his wife, son and daughter. So, life has its own way of balancing things. He lost three people closest to him, he found three others.

After the highs of Centurion, the Indian cricket team got a reality check when the Proteas defeated them by seven wickets at Johannesburg and kept themselves alive in the series.
There were plenty of things that went wrong. The Indian batters couldn’t put enough runs on the board while bowlers also failed to pick 20 wickets. Overall, the hosts outplayed the touring party in all three departments and deserved to win this game.
    © Twitter/BCCI
As pointed out by stand-in skipper KL Rahul at the post match presentation, one of the main reasons why India lost the match was because their batters failed to score enough runs in the first innings. They were bowled out for 202 which allowed the South Africans to take a small but important lead.

Majority of the front-line batters failed but one player whose dismissal caused a huge outrage on social media was wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. The manner in which he threw away his wicket by playing a completely irresponsible shot, people had every reason to criticise him.
    © Reuters
Not just fans, many experts like Sunil Gavaskar and Gautam Gambhir also used some strong words while criticising the 24-year-old left-handed batter. Both the former India openers said that they were extremely disappointed with the way Pant completely disregarded the match situation and gifted his wicket playing a ‘stupid’ shot.

The ‘Little Master’ had said that he was confident that head coach Rahul Dravid would be very upset with the southpaw and would have given him a ‘bamboo’ in the dressing room for playing a rash shot.

“That is not the way to play and I am pretty certain that in the change room, Rahul Dravid would have given him a hearing, or as they say in cricket, Dravid must have given him a 'bamboo'," Gavaskar had said on Star Sports, while reacting to Pant’s second innings dismissal.

When Dravid was asked about Pant’s shot selection during the post-match interaction, the former Indian skipper said that they were aware of his qualities and the impact that he could have on the game.
'Sometimes it's just about figuring out what is the right time to maybe attack or maybe play out a slightly difficult period'

India head coach Rahul Dravid has said the team management will have conversations with Rishabh Pant over his shot selection #SAvIND
    — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) January 7, 2022
The former NCA head said that they would not be telling Pant to drift away from his attacking style and become a completely different player. But at the same time Dravid said that he would be having a “conversation” with him about the timing of his shot selection.
“...we know Rishabh is a positive player and he plays in a particular manner which has gotten him success. But yeah, of course, there are times, we will have a level of conversations with him around, it is just about the timing of that shot you know. No one is going to tell Rishabh not to be a positive or aggressive player. Sometimes it is about choosing the timing to do that,” Dravid said during the press conference after the match.
    © Reuters
“When you have just come in, giving yourself some more time would be more advisable. We know what we are getting with Rishabh, he is a very positive player, he is someone who can change the course of the game for us, so we won't take that away from him and ask him to become something very different. It is about figuring out when is the right time to attack. He is learning, he plays in a particular way but he will keep learning,” he added.

    © Reuters
Dravid’s comments evoked mixed reactions on social media, with few fans praising the head coach for defending his player like a father and others criticising him for not pointing out the obvious flaws in Pant’s game.

Still backed pant in tough situation, great coaching example by Dravid sir

    — Pushkar Kumar (@Pushays) January 6, 2022we have to be patient with him..hopefully he will put a price tag on his wicket soon.
    — Meme Professor (@Meme_Professor9) January 6, 2022 Many people felt that Pant should consider himself lucky that he was getting constant backing from the team management despite playing immature cricket. A frustrated user even described him as ‘India’s Tim Paine’
Rishab pant is new Tim paine of India
Running away always running away with no responsibility
    — Haniel Peter (@peter_haniel) January 6, 2022Should have said that pant needs to improve

    — Deepak Haranahalli (@imdeepakhm) January 6, 2022Fans also know when to attack or not
But pant even after playing actually cricket is still figuring out
    — King Indra Verma (@NinjaKumar2709) January 6, 2022With the series on the line, we hope that Pant takes Dravid’s advice and puts a price on his wicket in the next match in Cape Town.
