India suffered their first-ever loss in a Test match at the Wanderers on Thursday as South Africa made light work of the 240-run target set by the visitors.
As the hosts levelled the three-match series, the cricketing fraternity started pointing fingers at the loopholes in the Indian batting.
One name that was heavily criticised for being lacklustre in his approach was Rishabh Pant.
The young wicket-keeper has failed to make his presence felt in the ongoing tour of South Africa and the way he got out for a duck in the second innings of the 2nd Test did not go well with many cricket experts.
    It's Kagiso Rabada again

Rishabh Pant makes the long walk back for a duck!

Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar was one of the cricket pundits who minced no words while expressing his disapproval of the attitude shown by Pant in the lost Test match.
Gavaskar had said that the way Pant went about his business, it is not the way one should play and added that Rahul Dravid must have given him an earful in the change room after he walked back to the pavilion, playing an unnecessary shot.
"That is not the way to play and I am pretty certain that in the change room, Rahul Dravid would have given him a hearing, or as they say in cricket, Dravid must have given him a 'bamboo'," Gavaskar had said.

The legendary cricketer, who was furious at Pant, seems to have taken a cue from politicians who are known to eat their own words as he made a complete u-turn on his criticism of Pant and said that his dismissal alone was not the only reason behind India's loss in Johannesburg.
Gavaskar mentioned that while Pant's dismissal was not pretty to watch, to say that the team lost because of that dismissal is not right. He asserted that India should have scored more runs, especially in the first innings after getting off to a good start.

    — Rishabh Pant (@RishabhPant17) January 19, 2021
“Whatever you might say about that particular shot, it was not pretty to watch for sure, but it was not the reason that India lost. India should have scored more runs, batting first they had a pretty decent start but they weren't able to capitalise on it and get to 280-300,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports' post-match show.

This sudden change of perception of Pant by Gavaskar makes us wonder that the legendary cricketer would've managed to play a successful knock even in the field of politics.
Pant has had a dismal run with the bat but he has proved in his short career so far that when he gets going, he can turn the match around in a flash.
Indian fans will be hoping that Pant comes good in the series decider in Cape Town as the visitors continue their search for a maiden Test series win in the Rainbow Nation.

We’ve read and heard about celebrity affairs around the block but seldom do we hear the mental or emotional impact it can cause the celebrity being targeted. Back in 2006, actress Sameera Reddy and Jr. NTR’s names were constantly being taken in the same breath after the rumors of their alleged affair made the rounds. The Telugu star was known to be a reserved person in general and after the two worked in the romantic film Ashok and became close friends, it was being speculated that it was more than just ‘dosti’.

    © YouTube
Years later, the actress addressed the whole situation and made some surprising revelations, including how this whole rumour forced her into quitting the Telugu film industry. The truth is that I'm a very friendly and straightforward girl. I'll not try to hide anything. The truth was that it was blown out of proportion because he is a really wonderful co-star to work with. He taught me a lot. When I came to Telugu cinema, being a Telugu Reddy girl, I didn't know anything. It became such a big deal that there was too much being spoken and my family got upset. As much as I have been a bold actress in so many films, my father is still an Andhra Reddy man at the end of the day and I have to answer to him. Somewhere he got questioned a lot by his family” she said.

The way it was affecting her family took a toll on her and she eventually decided to move away from the industry and this friendship as well. “When he kept asking me, I decided to move away from Telugu cinema because there was too much talk. Is he going to marry her? or You have to marry him? Fans were saying a lot of things. People were only talking about us. They were not talking about my movies. They weren't talking about what I am capable of. The focus went from Sameera Reddy to Sameera NTR”, she exclaimed.

While a lot of people were left surprised by Mahesh Babu’s gesture, there were some who criticised him heavily for completely ignoring the lead actress of the film Rashmika Mandanna.

Mahesh Babu had tweeted, “@alluarjun as Pushpa is stunning, original and sensational… a stellar act @aryasukku proves again that his cinema is raw, rustic and brutally honest... a class apart. @ThisIsDSP what can I say.. you’re a rock star!! Congrats to the entire team of @MythriOfficial. Proud of you guys!”

After over three years, Anushka Sharma is all set to make a comeback to Bollywood with the Jhulan Goswami biopic titled Chakda Express. As the film went into production, makers released a short teaser treating fans with Anushka’s look from the film as Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami.
The teaser instantly grabbed eyeballs on social media.
While there were many who were excited to see Anushka’s return to acting, there were others who were left disappointed and criticised the actress for her poor Bengali accent and brownface makeup.

However, this isn’t the first time that an actress was criticised for brownface makeup to portray Jhulan Goswami.

Back in 2020, actress Aahana Kumra too had courted controversy when she decided to pay a tribute to the noted cricketer by doing a photoshoot with brownface makeup.
Sharing a few pictures from her photoshoot as Jhulan Goswami, Aahana had written a long caption praising the dast bowler. She had said, “No I'm not promoting any film. This is purely a tribute to a woman I admire the most after spending time with her and learning her whole story about her journey, her hardships and her passion for the sport! @jhulangoswami fondly called jhulan di by all her team mates is loved and admired by all the members of the Indian women's cricket team!”

She had further mentioned, “This photo series is my tribute to her and hopefully as actresses one day we can all break stereotypes and be the best versions of ourselves by telling the greatest stories!! @jhulangoswami thank you for your story! And I wish and pray the best for you forever! Your fan! AK”.

    Check out her post below:

While Jhulan Goswami had appreciated Aahana’s tribute saying, “Great job keep it up!!”, social media users heavily criticised the actress for her brownface makeup.
One user commented, “What a tribute by colouring yourself black ... Not to 1 percent you show any resemblance to her so is it a tribute or invitation for directors to direct a film on her and cast you as main lead or are just making fun of her?”
Take a look at the screenshot of some of the comments on Aahana’s post below:

Since then Aahana has disabled the comment section on this particular post of hers.

As for Chakda Express, the Netflix Original is directed by Prosit Roy and produced by Anushka Sharma.

Of late, sports biopics have been getting more popular in Bollywood.

It's such a good way for the movie business to go as obviously, the producers and other moviemakers have understood to take advantage of India being an insane cricket-loving nation.
We Indians, love our cricketing heroes! The game is just a religion to us.
Thankfully, Bollywood knows of that, which is why we got to see Ranveer Singh's biopic of Kapil Dev, 83.
    View this post on Instagram
We're now set to see Anushka Sharma play cricketer Jhulan Goswami in the biopic, Chakda Xpress.

Well, guess what? The cricket biopic mania is not over yet!

Looks like Kartik Aaryan, too has joined the biopic bandwagon and he wants to play a cricketer as well.
Who? A very, very good one.
Kartik, who recently saw the release of his Netflix film Dhamaka, was speaking with Bollywood Hungama in an interview when he was asked whose biopic would he be interested in playing.
Well, the actor instantly responded, 'Virat Kohli!'

This one name in cricket sends chills down the spine of Indian fans as well as anyone who watches cricket across the world.

The Team India cricket captain is without a doubt one of the best cricketers in the world and looks to cement his name as an all-time great as well.
Now, with cricketing legend Kapil Dev's biopic already done and dusted by Ranveer Singh, Virat Kohli sets to be another name that could join MS Dhoni in having their biopics.
I personally think Kartik is more than fit to play the part.
    I mean, look at it.
Both Kartik and Virat came from humble backgrounds, worked really hard, and got success against all odds. Secondly, both the stars are in their prime right now, and with Kartik already in a rich vein of form, he could really be the perfect choice to play Virat.
Moreover, it looks like Kartik has already started prepping for the role, as seen in his Instagram posts.
    View this post on Instagram
Doesn't he just look wonderful as a cricketer?

Kartik has a long list of movies that are going to release this year, with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 being one of them, and Freddie being the other.

Looks like the Virat Kohli biopic could be another that may release in the future.

    Excited? We sure are!

There is something extraordinary about college life.
No matter where you are in life, one phone call from your college buddy and you are right back to being that young lad or girl sitting on the campus staircase or at the canteen, discussing life after college.
MX Player’s new series Campus Diaries is like that old buddy who takes you back in time to reminisce about all the masti and dosti of the good old college days.
Amidst critically acclaimed and much-loved shows like Kota Factory, Panchayat, Aspirants and Engineering Girls - I believe Campus Diaries is the next big youth drama series to watch out for.
This is a true-blue coming of age drama that starts with the first day of college at Excel University. It takes you through the best, sometimes tough, personality shaping and career-defining years at the University.
    MX Player
Created by Prem Mistry and Abhishek Yadav, Campus Diaries manages to touch upon many societal issues, one of them being ragging and rampant drug abuse.
The very first episode introduces us to the foreign return Raghav. Expelled from his old university for possessing drugs, Raghav is trying hard to fit in the new crowd.
On his first day at Excel, he refuses to give in to an attempt at ragging. His fierce stance sets the tone for the show - nothing too preachy!
Catch a quick glimpse of the show here:

Campus Diaries is not just about any one student. It chronicles the life of 5 friends who form a lifelong bond with each other.
There’s the yaaron ka yaar politically inclined Sudheer (played by Harsh Beniwal), the forever friend-zoned guy, Abhilash (played by Ritvik Sahore), the popular class rebel, Sushmita (played by Salonie Patel) and the type A class topper and girl-next-door, Sanya (played by Srishti Ganguli Rindani). It also sees Saloni Gaur as Priyanka, a righteous and independent girl who is a strong adversary for Sudheer and goes up against him in the elections for Hostel Secretary.
From awkward first dates to hook-up sessions, smoking up and toxic exes, Campus Diaries touches upon deeper issues that mould our personality at an early age. It also highlights issues like discrimination based on a societal bias that leads to a deep-seated shift in our personality.
    MX Player
The fast-paced narrative makes Campus Diaries an entertaining binge-watch. The 40-minute episode runtime doesn’t leave you bored or heading for the remote!
Our Verdict:Add this one to your must-watch list.
With 12 entertaining episodes, Campus Diaries takes you on a nostalgic journey back to college and makes you want to ditch the online model to hit campus again.
