    Sachin Tendulkar is arguably one of the finest ever to have played the game of cricket. In a career spanning over two decades, Sachin achieved almost every record that is there for the taking by a batter. 

    In such a long career, Tendulkar, on many occasions, was on the receiving end of some harsh calls by the on-field umpires.
    Despite dealing with howlers throughout his career, Tendulkar was never a fan of introducing technology into the game. It was largely because of him that India didn't trust the decision review system for a long time before it was made mandatory by the ICC.

    With the game becoming more and more favourable for the batters, an incident that took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday prompted a suggestion from the Little Master. 
    In the fourth Ashes Test, Ben Stokes survived a close call after a Cameron Green delivery came back in sharply and hit the off-stump, but fortunately for the England all-rounder, the bail didn't come off and he continued his innings.

    It was such a shocker of an incident that the on-field umpire Paul Reiffel thought the ball had hit Stokes' pads and gave him out LBW. Stokes immediately challenged the call and once the replays confirmed that he was not out, he couldn't stop laughing looking at the turn of events. 

    Tendulkar posted a video of the incident on Twitter and came up with a suggestion to introduce a new rule in a bid to make the game fairer for bowlers. 
    "Should a law be introduced called ‘hitting the stumps’ after the ball has hit them but not dislodged the bails? What do you think guys? Let’s be fair to bowlers," Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.

    Fans took little time to react to Tendulkar's suggestion and some even trolled the 'god of cricket' for suggesting such a radical change to the game. 
    A fan said the bails should be completely removed while another one said Tendulkar should've come up with this suggestion when he was an active cricketer.

    After the highs of Centurion, the Indian cricket team got a reality check when the Proteas defeated them by seven wickets at Johannesburg and kept themselves alive in the series.
    There were plenty of things that went wrong. The Indian batters couldn’t put enough runs on the board while bowlers also failed to pick 20 wickets. Overall, the hosts outplayed the touring party in all three departments and deserved to win this game.

    As pointed out by stand-in skipper KL Rahul at the post match presentation, one of the main reasons why India lost the match was because their batters failed to score enough runs in the first innings. They were bowled out for 202 which allowed the South Africans to take a small but important lead.

    Majority of the front-line batters failed but one player whose dismissal caused a huge outrage on social media was wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. The manner in which he threw away his wicket by playing a completely irresponsible shot, people had every reason to criticise him.

    Not just fans, many experts like Sunil Gavaskar and Gautam Gambhir also used some strong words while criticising the 24-year-old left-handed batter. Both the former India openers said that they were extremely disappointed with the way Pant completely disregarded the match situation and gifted his wicket playing a ‘stupid’ shot.

    The ‘Little Master’ had said that he was confident that head coach Rahul Dravid would be very upset with the southpaw and would have given him a ‘bamboo’ in the dressing room for playing a rash shot.

    “That is not the way to play and I am pretty certain that in the change room, Rahul Dravid would have given him a hearing, or as they say in cricket, Dravid must have given him a 'bamboo'," Gavaskar had said on Star Sports, while reacting to Pant’s second innings dismissal.

    When Dravid was asked about Pant’s shot selection during the post-match interaction, the former Indian skipper said that they were aware of his qualities and the impact that he could have on the game.

    The former NCA head said that they would not be telling Pant to drift away from his attacking style and become a completely different player. But at the same time Dravid said that he would be having a “conversation” with him about the timing of his shot selection.
    “...we know Rishabh is a positive player and he plays in a particular manner which has gotten him success. But yeah, of course, there are times, we will have a level of conversations with him around, it is just about the timing of that shot you know. No one is going to tell Rishabh not to be a positive or aggressive player. Sometimes it is about choosing the timing to do that,” Dravid said during the press conference after the match.

    “When you have just come in, giving yourself some more time would be more advisable. We know what we are getting with Rishabh, he is a very positive player, he is someone who can change the course of the game for us, so we won't take that away from him and ask him to become something very different.     The key accused in the Bulli Bai case was nabbed from his home in Assam’s Jorhat.  
    21-year-old engineering student, Niraj Bishnoi was found to be the mastermind behind the app that was created and used to auction photos of Indian (mostly Muslim) women.

    His father, Dashrath Bishnoi spoke to The Quint and has claimed that his son is innocent.  

    Recalling his arrest on 5 January, he said, “I have worked hard my whole life just so I can educate my children. When the police was taking Niraj away, I abused him and told him that he has ruined the family name. I have no idea what is going on, but I know he didn’t do anything he is being accused of.”

    While he believes that his son has done nothing wrong, he did mention he used his laptop till late, often after midnight. “My son would spend day and night on his laptop,” he said. 

    Niraj was a meritorious student who got the laptop he used to create the app from the government a few years ago. 
    “He got a laptop from the Assam government when he scored 86% in class X, and since then, he is always on his laptop. He uses it to study. You can ask any of our neighbours in Jorhat; my son has a very good record.”

    His father also said that he “never heard his son making islamophobic or sexist remarks” at home. According to him, he used to watch one news channel and might have been impacted by him. However, he said that he stopped watching it a year ago.

    Niraj was studying B.Tech at VIT. The prestigious college suspended him post his arrest for his involvement in the case.  

    While his father is of the opinion he isn’t the culprit, he has already confessed to his crime saying he did the right thing and has no regrets for his actions, according to reports by India TV.

    It was reported that the two stars got 'physical' while partying at a club in Lisbon, Portugal. Later, Bipasha would speak about meeting Cristiano and how both of them even found each other cute.

    Kabir Khan’s biographical sports drama 83 is now on course to be the biggest disaster in the history of Hindi cinema.  
    The film was released on December 24 and received rave reviews, but the audience decided to stay away from it.  
    The film, that was made on a reported budget of Rs 260-270 crore, could only collect in the range of Rs 95 crore at the box office.  
    It is now crawling towards the Rs 100 crore mark but that won’t make much of a difference to the film’s box office status.  
    According to a report in Box Office India, 83 will suffer the biggest loss any film has seen in the history of Hindi cinema. So much that the losses incurred by 83 will be even higher than the big disaster that was Anurag Kashyap’s 2015 film Bombay Velvet starring Ranbir Kapoor.

    Bombay Velvet had lost around Rs 70 crore at the box office and now, 83 in its final run, will entail losses in the range of Rs 80 crore.  

    According to the report, 83 will have a recovery of Rs 80 crore from its theatrical run, Rs 50 crore from OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar and Star Network for digital and satellite rights, Rs 30 crore from Netflix for digital rights and around Rs 20 crore from music and regional satellite rights. This means the total recovery will be Rs 180 crore.

    The budget of the film is a massive Rs 240 crore with additional Rs 20 crore from P&A. The makers also had to pay interest costs due to delays in release but that was counteracted by the rebate offered by the UK.

    Unlike other recent films that had a 4-week release deal with OTT platforms, 83 couldn’t get the same and hence the losses are higher.

    In comparison, Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, which was made at a much lesser cost, has a recovery of around Rs 300 crore. 

    This is due to the huge box office collection and better digital, music and streaming rights deals.

    The fans of the Indian cricket team have absolutely no patience when it comes to hopping online and talking trash about the players of the squad. And when it comes to someone like Hanuma Vihari who is highly underrated and does not get a lot of opportunities to prove himself, the general trolls of the social media world do not think twice before they start calling him names and embarrassing him in public.
    The 28-year-old Test veteran, Vihari, finally got to break into the Playing XI ahead of the second Test between India and South Africa at the Wanderers cricket ground after the captain of the team, Virat Kohli, had to be excused with an upper back spasm just moments before the toss.
    Surprising news for the Cricket Team fans as the captain Kohli has an upper back spam and will not take part in this second Test against South Africa!

    However, the variable bounce that was being experienced on the pitch stopped the batter from being able to score big in the first inning. After 53 deliveries, Vihari got out on 20 while scoring three boundaries in the process. The second inning was relatively better for him as he managed to add 40 more runs to the team’s total and remained unbeaten till the very end.
    The kind of stability with which Vihari was playing, he very well could have scored a half-century on Day 3 or 4 of the match, if only the wickets stopped falling on the other end of the pitch.
    Nonetheless, he did go on Twitter to express his disappointment in the kind of result the Men in Blue got after not being able to dismiss South African skipper Dean Elgar and his batting order while chasing a mere 240-run total.

    “Disappointed with the result. Looking forward to the decider in cape town,” he wrote while talking about the third and final match of the series which, if won by Team India, would get them their first Test series victory on South African soil.
    However, the reason why Vihari got the spot in the team in the first place was because Kohli was injured. During the post-match conference on Thursday, the head coach of the squad, Rahul Dravid confirmed that the skipper had gotten the green light from the medical staff and that he would be absolutely ready to play in Cape Town.
    This obviously leaves Vihari in a bit of a predicament as he might be looking at the Playing XI from the outside as all the slots may already be filled. As if this isn’t bad news in itself, there were some social media trolls who hopped on to his account to rub salt on his wounds:
