After missing a major part of South Africa’s first innings due to injury, Jasprit Bumrah was yearning to make an impact in the game and it reflected in the way he ran and bowled on the penultimate day of the Boxing Day Test in Centurion.

India’s premier fast bowler made his presence felt in the closing stages of Day 4 and showed why he is rated so highly in world cricket. Chasing a stiff target, the hosts suffered a major blow as Aiden Markram was cleaned up by Mohammed Shami in the second over of the innings.
    Simply sensational from Bumrah

He gets the ball to come back in sharply, bringing an end to Rassie van der Dussen's knock of 11.

South African skipper Dean Elgar (52* off 122 balls) showed great temperament and kept Indian bowlers at bay from one end. He stitched a decent partnership with Keegan Petersen (17 off 36 balls) for the second wicket. A slight lapse in concentration and the Proteas youngster paid the price in form of his wicket as he poked his bat to a wide delivery and ended up giving a simple catch behind stumps.
By now the ball had stopped swinging and there were no demons in the pitch either, especially after the home side had used a heavy roller before their innings.
A session of solid resilience for marred by Bumrah's twin strikes at the death.

While the majority of the bowlers are effective when the pitch is conducive to their skills and favours their bowling style, the same rule doesn’t apply to Bumrah. The reason why he is widely regarded as one of the best in the business is because of his ability to trouble the batters even when the surface is of little to no assistance.

The 28-year-old speedster proved his worth once again by picking up two quick wickets towards the closing stages of the game. And both these dismissals were a result of his sheer brilliance.
    What a beauty by Jassi...Bumrah......

He first castled Rassie van der Dussen (11 off 65) and provided India with an important breakthrough. Bowling from wide of the crease, Bumrah managed to cut that delivery back in sharply just a fraction bit more which ended up kissing the top of off stump as the batter shouldered his arms.
What a ball, What a yorker, 143 kph and cleans up Maharaj. Bumrah is the King. pic.twitter.com/ityH4HANOB

Not just that, he finished the day with another peach of a delivery, sending South Africa’s night watchman back to the pavilion on the last ball before stumps were called. Famous for his yorkers, Bumrah bowled a toe-crushing delivery which proved too tough to handle for the South African spinner and India ended the day needing only six wickets to win the match and take a 1-0 lead.
    Random Jasprit Bumrah appreciation tweet.

Nothing I can write that you already do not know.

Just feel privileged to be around in the Bumrah era.
    — Abhishek Mukherjee (@SachinAzharCT) (@ovshake42) December 29, 2021Jasprit Bumrah - an absolute artist. And, with all the talk about how T20 can hinder players in Test cricket, illustrates how the very best players bring in T20 skills to enhance their Test game
    — Tim Wigmore (@timwig) December 29, 2021All our cricket fandom suffering has led to the positive karma called Jasprit Bumrah.

No logical way to describe him.

He doesn't celebrate his wickets much. They're inevitable.
    — El Chopernos (@El_Chopernos) December 29, 2021Bumrah has spoilt me so much that I each time he comes up with these magic shows, I have to remind myself: this is not normal.
    — Siddhartha Vaidyanathan (@sidvee) December 29, 2021Bumrah maaan! What a ball! What a bowler! pic.twitter.com/HtvUQxFvn6
    — Ashish Magotra (@clutchplay) December 29, 2021having checked this morning, can confirm that the bumrah yorker to maharaj wasn't a dream...merely, a dream delivery#SAvIND
    — Gaurav Kalra (@gauravkalra75) December 30, 2021If not for Bumrah’s twin strikes at the death, the touring party would have been in a much tricky situation going into the final day.
Watching him operate at full tilt is a delight in itself and whoever witnessed him bowl in the final spell of Day 4 fell short of words to describe his sheer class. All we could do was be grateful that we were in the same era where Bumrah ruled the show in world cricket.

BJP legislator Sudhir Mungantiwar's name has been embroiled in a controversy after he recently questioned the Maharashtra government's decision to appoint LGBTQ community representatives as members of universities. He was sharing his views about the Maharashtra Public University Act, 2016 (Third Amendment) Bill which advocates the inclusion of LGBTQIA|+ community members on University Boards. While the bill talks about equal opportunities, Mungantiwar strongly opposed the proposal and his controversial remarks have created problems for him now.
Can someone help me understand the issue Sudhir Mungatiwar, BJP is raising about #LGBTQIA? Isn't that problematic.#MaharashtraAssembly

Opposing the proposal of equal opportunities for the LGBTQ community, he said, "Are you going to hire lesbians and gays as members? Shouldn’t a joint medical committee be set up on this? It mentions bisexual and asexual relations. However, no one has yet defined these".
Talking further about asexual relationships, a misinformed Mungatiwar added, "Asexual relationships. No one has defined it. So if a person has asexual relationships with an animal, will the animal come and certify that there was an asexual relationship? What is going on?"
Mungantiwar is receiving harsh criticism for his controversial comments from the LGBTQ community members and from people who are fighting for their rights. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor too has slammed the BJP MLA for his statement. Taking to social media, the Neerja actress bashed the minister by sharing a post from an Instagram page named 'Yes, We Exist' which is related to the minister's remarks. She wrote, "Ignorant, illiterate and hurtful".

On the professional front, the actress was last seen in a cameo role in Netflix film AK vs AK. Featuring Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap in lead roles, AK vs AK saw Sonam playing herself in the film. She will next be seen in Blind, produced by Sujoy Ghosh.

It has been over two years since the time the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli had scored his most recent century back when Bangladesh toured India and the first pink-ball Test was played in the subcontinent in November 2019.
Since then, the batter, who remains one of the elite ones in terms of potential and technique, has failed to convert all those experiences and finesses into three-digit scores for himself. To make matters worse, during the ongoing Test series between India and South Africa, Kohli’s has gotten dismissed at 35 and 18 runs in the first and second innings respectively, thereby making very little impact on the game as an individual.
    View this post on Instagram
For the second consecutive time in the series, Kohli got dismissed in the same fashion. By giving up an edged ball right into the hands of one of the men standing behind the stumps. Considering the fact that it was the first ball Kohli played after returning from the lunch break, the shot selection of the batter was put in question by a lot of people, including the former Indian skipper, Sunil Gavaskar.
Trying to get inside Kohli’s head, Gavaskar said that the way the current captain moved his bat, it felt as it if was a “loose shot” and going for it was arguably a bad decision, especially because it was the first delivery of the second session of the day and the common approach is for the batters to defend a few balls, give themselves enough time and settle in for a long inning.
    View this post on Instagram
Reiterating the fact that Kohli remains one of the most experienced players of Test cricket not just in his team but also all around the world, Gavaskar sounded puzzled thinking about whatever was going inside the mind of the 33-year old. The ‘Little Master’ speculated that maybe Kohli was in a rush to put up a big score on the board as soon as possible before declaring their innings and allowing themselves a better shot at gaining a 1-0 lead in the series with a day and a half to spare.
This analysis makes sense as out of the 18 runs that Kohli scored in the second inning, 16 of them came from boundaries and the cricketer did look in a hurry to make runs.

Nonetheless, Team India still look to be in control of the match as they managed to dismiss South Africa’s four batters by the time gameplay ended on the penultimate day of the match. Ahead of Day 5, Team India is leading by 210 runs.

The beauty about cricket in India is the fact that there is an abundance of incredible talent in every corner of the country and all each of them needs is an opportunity to prove their worth at the highest level of cricket and make their spot on the national cricket concrete.
Here are 10 of the most promising prospects discovered in 2021 who deserve a national call next year:
Abhimanyu Easwaran View this post on Instagram
Despite his average of 43.57 in first-class Test cricket with 13 centuries in 64 matches, Easwaran has only managed to be picked as a backup during the WTC final in England.
Shahrukh Khan View this post on Instagram
A great finisher with the ability to deliver a couple of overs, Khan’s capabilities as a cricketer were highlighted during his 47-off-36 innings. Tamil Nadu’s knight in shining armour, Khan will look for an India spot actively.
Abdul Samad View this post on Instagram
The J&K star has had a strike rate of 146.05 in the IPL and SunRisers Hyderabad have shown faith in his potential by retaining him ahead of the mega auction. Clearly, he has what it takes to make it to the next step.
Riyan Parag View this post on Instagram
Even though he struggled to make an impact during IPL 2021, the fact that he was the leading run-getter for Assam during VHT 2018-19, & his unorthodox bowling are proof that he deserves the promotion.
Avesh Khan View this post on Instagram
Yet another great find from IPL 2021, Avesh Khan took a step forward as India’s net bowler during T20 WC. 2022 may be the year he breaks into the 15-man squad as a regular face in Blue.
Kartik Tyagi View this post on Instagram
A U-19 WC prodigy, who is a wicket-taker, and absolutely clutch in death overs who can bowl accurate yorkers on command, Tyagi is the bowler to watch out for in the new year.
Ravi Bishnoi View this post on Instagram
The hot-headed spinner who put himself on the map thanks to an exciting U-19 World Cup run, Bishnoi’s ascend in IPL is undeniable. Also, his fielding prowess gives him an added benefit over his competition.
Arshdeep Singh View this post on Instagram
Although sometimes a bit experience in terms of economy rate, the southpaw pacer does have a little bit of Zaheer, Nehra and Pathan in him. Without a doubt a wicket-taker, Singh could be seen in the national kit soon.
R Sai Kishore View this post on Instagram
Known to be the best spinner in domestic cricket at the moment, Kishore dominates first-class cricket and has 48 wickets with an economy of just 2.68. He’d make for a great addition for matches at home.
Ishan Porel View this post on Instagram
A leading pacer from Bengal, Porel has picked 53 wickets in just 20 first-class matches and can be seen frequently in the India A team. If he managed to stay injury-free, his international call isn’t that far away.

The Indian Premier League is the greatest T20 league in the world and every year, the fans find the best of the talents from all across the globe join forces and chase the prestigious title. However, with the massive inflow of brilliant athletes every single season, some of the elite-level players often go underappreciated.
Most Underrated Players of IPL 2021 Here are the 10 most underrated players from the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League who may earn big contracts during the Mega Auction 2022.
Sheldon Jackson View this post on Instagram
He failed to make it to the national side despite some good performances, but with the mega auction coming up, he could find a better venue. All he has to do now is score runs on a regular basis.
Aiden Markram View this post on Instagram
In 20 T20I matches, he’s scored 588 runs. His propensity to score runs quickly is demonstrated by his 147 strike rate. Aside from that, he's also a fantastic fielder. After PBKS didn’t retain him, he might find another home soon.
Jitesh Sharma View this post on Instagram
Despite being in the domestic circle for 8 years, he’s never gone beyond Mumbai Indians’ dressing room. He has scored 174 runs at a strike rate of over 200 in the SMAT & Mega Auction could be his ticket to success.
Tanmay Agarwal View this post on Instagram
Bought by SRH in 2020, he is known for scoring 1477 runs in 50 T20s and had a strike rate of 151 during SMAT. He can be a great opener for any team in the league.
Rassie van der Dussen View this post on Instagram
The best SA batter during the T20 World Cup 2021, he surely put himself on the tactical board of a lot of franchisees in the league and can earn big money during the Mega Auction.
Adam Zampa View this post on Instagram
He has bowled with an economy rate of 7.74 in the IPL. A leg spinner's wicket count of 21 in 14 games is never poor. With new teams on the horizon, he will be sold at a fair or extraordinary price.
Akshay Karnewar View this post on Instagram
An ambidextrous bowler who set a world record of bowling four maiden overs in a T20 game… What’s not to like?
Daryl Mitchell View this post on Instagram
The Black Cap’s 72-run T20 World Cup semi-final winning performance against England shows that he is ready to earn that sweet sweet IPL contract everyone has been raving about.
Liam Livingstone View this post on Instagram
One of the most improved cricketers since last year, Livingstone earned a mere Rs 50 lakh contact by RR before IPL 2021. His destructive batting will surely earn a lot during the mega auction.
James Neesham View this post on Instagram
Jimmy always remains an undervalued player especially for the kind of talent he brings to the table with the ball and the bat. His Rs. 75 lakh contact with MI feels like a cheap joke right now.
