    Karan Johar was recently a part of an interview panel where he was joined by other filmmakers like Zoya Akhtar, Nikkhil Advani, Reema Kagti and Sameer Nair. 
    During the conversation, host Anupama Chopra of Film Companion asked the producers about the pay disparity in the Hindi film industry and the rise in actors’ fees despite Bollywood going through a tough phase due to the shutting down of theatres in the last two years. 
    Karan stated that he is fed up with young actors demanding over Rs 25 crore despite the poor performances of their previous films. He said that even during the lockdown when the films were releasing in theatres, a lot of younger actors increased their fees for no reason.

    He said, “I am so fed up. I have seen prices of actors rise through the worst period of cinema for no reason. They hadn’t had a release, their last release was a failure, their films have not taken off, and yet they are just [rising their prices] because they are riding on the digital money. They have gone beyond deluded. And we all have to just suck it up and work with them because this is what we do.”

    He further added, “They don’t understand. Because in the climate that we are in, nobody is taking theatrical backends. You are taking a percentage of profit instead, which you can offer as well. Striking those deals with megastars make sense. What I am not understanding is that there is a younger order that is yet to prove their muscle at the box office. But instantly, you hear [them asking for] Rs 25, 30, 35 crore. What are these numbers?”
    He continued, “Then you want to show a report card to them and say, hello, this is what your last film opened to.” 

    Zoya said that it is “offensive” that crew members are paid so less and these actors charge a bomb. Karan added to that, “I would rather pay top dollar to members of the technical crew, who actually make the film special.” He even wondered why he paid Rs 15 crore to some actors and Rs 55 lakh to editors who have actually saved a film multiple times. 
    While Karan refrained from naming any young Bollywood actor, earlier this year there were reports of his falling out with Kartik Aaryan.  
    The news of Karan dropping Kartik from Dostana 2 have been doing the rounds after which Dharma Productions had confirmed with a statement, "Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence – we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D’Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon."

    Kabir Khan’s 83 finally released this Christmas weekend after facing a delay of over one and a half years. 
    The movie starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role along with a huge ensemble received rave reviews from the film critics and the audience who watched it. 
    It was expected to bring the glory back to the Bollywood box office which was struggling since the opening up of theatres. 
    While Sooryavanshi had turned out to be a big success, all other Hindi films failed to take off. All hopes of the film industry were pinned on 83 as it was a big-budget biographical sports drama starring a young star with a fair amount of box office pull. 
    Amidst positive reviews, the movie opened below expectations on December 24 and the much-needed growth was missing over its opening weekend despite a big holiday in Christmas.

    Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had called the business of the film a disappointment. 

    He had tweeted, “#83TheFilm disappoints… Biz witnessed slight growth *outside metros* on Day 3, but not enough to cover lost ground… The jump on Day 2 [#Christmas] and Day 3 [Sun] had to be massive, since #Christmas is one of the best periods, but it was missing”.

    His follow-up tweet read, “The non-performance of #83TheFilm has sent shock waves, since it comes with a big price tag and bigger expectations… Plus, the extensive screen count [3741 screens; all versions], so it had to deliver… Fri 12.64 cr, Sat 16.95 cr, Sun 17.41 cr. Total: ₹ 47 cr. #India biz.”
    Let’s see if #83TheFilm gathers pace in the coming days… Besides tough competition from holdover titles [#SpiderMan, #PushpaHindi], the release calendar is chock-a-block with films: #Jersey [31 Dec] and #RRR [7 Jan]… The fact is, #83TheFilm has limited time to score!

    After 83 underperformed in its opening weekend, the blame was pinned on the omicron variant of coronavirus and the fear amongst the audience to visit a theatre. 
    However, at the same time, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa has turned out to be a success in Hindi and is headed towards the Rs 50 crore mark, despite zero promotions. 
    And Spider-Man: No Way Home is all set to hit a double century at the box office in India and is still going strong.

    A report in Box Office India called 83 a disaster and the reason was its huge budget. It is reportedly one of the top three most expensive films of all time in Bollywood. 

    The report said, “The film is heading to become one of the biggest disasters of all time.” And further compared it to the box office bombs that were Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and Zero (2018). However, both those films featured two of the biggest stars of Indian cinema to absorb the losses. Same can’t be said for 83. 
    Another report in Bollywood Hungama has claimed that the movie will run into losses in crores of rupees. 
    The report quoted a source saying that the blame game will soon start now, “The film looks and feels like a documentary on the 1983 World Cup. Some from the production team had pointed this out while the film was being made. What was the need to shoot at the pricey Lords stadium in London when there are so many similarly vast cricket stadiums right here in India? But the naysayers were shut down by those from the film unit who were fully confident of getting the audience into theatres.”

    It is also reported that a large chunk of Ranveer Singh’s fee was pending and now he may have to let it go to counter some of the losses the film is facing. 

    83 was backed by many producers including Deepika Padukone, Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan.

    What most of us have gotten to learn over the recent course of years is that even if we didn't grow up being into Batman, Spider-Man, or other such superheroes, it's never too late to actually join the club.

    I mean, in all honesty, Marvel Studios as well as Warner Bros have made it a point to make the entire world superhero fans.
    And guess what? The plan seems to work quite well till now.
    There's been this crazy Spider-Man fever across the globe in the wake of the new Tom Holland pider-Man: No Way Home movie.

    And guess what? 2022 might have more such crazy superhero fevers! As it happens, Warner Bros have now released the new trailer for the Robert Pattinson Batman movie, and god! It looks just amazing!

    While we have loved Christian Bale and Ben Affleck as Batman in the recent past, it sure looks like Robert is going to do 'Justice' to the role as well.

    First off, as the trailer goes on, we get to have a good look at what the new Bruce Wayne looks like. He's got a real Gothic thing going there, with long hair, and a sense of mystery around the character.
    The trailer goes on to show that Batman, as well as Bruce Wayne, have a lot of history behind their characters and we might get to uncover just that when we end up watching the movie.
    Secondly, Zoe's Catwoman looks to strike good chemistry with Robert's Batman, with the two already having quite a lot of scenes in the movie, as per the trailer.

    Thirdly, Paul Dano's Riddler!

    We've been seeing plenty of his riddles for Batman in the trailers before, and it feels that he's got something really big and dark planned for Gotham and what could be its Darkest Knight ever!

    In the movie, we will get to see Riddler as well as the Penguin, with there being reports that Joker too might show up in the movie.

    This really sets this up to be a very decent Batman movie.

    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got new luxurious wheels and it has got the countrymen talking as the details of this car are insanely unique to protect the most powerful man in the country. The newest car in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy is the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard. This is an upgrade from the Range Rover Vogue and the Toyota Land Cruiser that he used until recently.

    The vehicle was spotted again in the Prime Minister’s convoy recently. The report further states that the car comes with VR10 level protection— the highest-ever provided in a production car. The car is priced at around Rs 12 crore.

    The car is equipped to protect the PM from hardened steel bullets as well as from an explosion of 15 kg TNT from two meters. The interiors of PM's new car also have a seat massager and offer increased legroom for passengers.

    Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard is a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that churns out 523 hp of maximum power and 830 Nm of peak torque. It can run at a top speed of 160 kmph.  
    As per a report in HT Auto, after becoming the Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi used a BMW 7 Series High-Security Edition for a couple of years before switching to Range Rover Sentinel. 
    This is how the most powerful man in the country is protected. We can only dream of owning this beast.

    On December 26, the news of a snake biting Salman Khan at his Panvel Farmhouse went viral on social media. It was reported that Salman was immediately taken to the hospital and was admitted there for six hours before getting discharged in the morning. 
    The news sent shockwaves amongst Salman’s fans all over. His friends and well-wishers from the film industry too were concerned about his health. 
    One among them was the legendary Dharmendra. 
    On Salman’s 56th birthday, Dharmendra took to Twitter to wish the actor. He shared a picture of himself with Salman from Om Shanti Om song Deewangi Deewangi and wrote, “Happy Birthday Salman”.

    However, in another tweet of his, a fan asked Dharmendra to wish Salman on his birthday. 
    Responding to the tweet, Dharmendra revealed that he considers Salman his son and was worried after the news of his snake bite broke. The yesteryear superstar then called Salman to inquire about his health and was relieved to know that he was doing fine. 
    His tweet read, “Malik, Salman is like a son to me…. He too have great love and respect for me . I always pray on his Birthday and wish him the Best . I got worried and called him  after the news of a snake bite . He is fit and fine.”

    Salman has time and again mentioned how Dharmendra is his favourite actor and his inspiration in the Hindi film industry. 

    Last month when Salman made an appearance on Ranveer Singh’s TV show The Big Picture, he talked about Dharmendra saying, “Actually, I have always followed Dharamji. He has this innocence on his face. He is the most beautiful looking man with that vulnerability or manly body.”

    For anyone who loves watching Hollywood films, you cannot deny that Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone is truly one of the most remarkably versatile actors out there.

    Be it her role in Birdman, La La Land, or many other movies, she can really play different characters pretty damn easily.
    Emma also became pretty popular amongst moviegoers for her role in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man movies, which saw her star opposite Andrew Garfield, who she happened to date during the course of the movies.

    Now, with the success of Tom Holland's Spider-Man: No Way Home, there's been repeated calls for Andrew's The Amazing Spider-Man series to get a third movie, with the hashtag 'Make TASM 3' trending almost everywhere on social media at the moment.

    Fans have been calling for Emma to reprise her role as Gwen or come back as the female Spidey version of it in the movie if just in case, it is revamped somehow.

    Now, while Emma is obviously in the news for this and for her performances of late, there was a time when the 33-year-old actress made a buzz for something very different.
    Yep! Emma was reported to have an alleged *** tape, who she recorded with one of her ex-boyfriends.
    And no. It wasn't with Andrew.
    As per Radar Online, Emma had made the tape when she was younger, long before she dated Andrew, with the report stating that an insider said she "has a *** tape, and that’s a fact.”
    According to the source, the tape actually still remains with the person she recorded it with.
    “She made it long before she started dating Andrew Garfield, and before she really became a household name. She was just young and probably thought nothing would ever come of it. The tape remains in the hands of the person she made it with,” the source said.
    The source also controversially reveals how the tape goes on to become more valuable.
    “But that doesn’t mean there’s any guarantee that it won’t eventually hit the market. The higher Emma’s star rises, the more valuable that tape becomes,” said the source.
    There have been plenty of *** tape scandals in Hollywood, with some of them even being leaked online by hackers in the past.

    Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, and Dhanush's much-awaited Atrangi Re has been streaming online on Disney Plus Hotstar. People gave it mixed reviews when we saw the reactions on Twitter when the movie was released on Friday but there were many others who saw the movie over the weekend.
    View this post on InstagramIf you have seen the movie, you might have understood that the makers have tried to simplify the issues of mental health but landed up romanticizing it. In the movie, the character of Sara Ali Khan, Rinku, is dealing with a childhood trauma that affected her so badly that she started living in her imaginary world.  
    Here’s the trailer:

    Rinku’s hallucinations are used as the main plot to keep the viewers entertained. To keep the humour content high, the makers went on to stereotype how mental illness has been in society for ages. For example, there’s one scene wherein Dhanush aka Vishnu’s friend Dr. Madhusudan, a psychiatrist, lands up saying that Rinku should be kept in a museum but she is roaming on the streets of Delhi.

People are angry and questioning the makers for not dealing with the issues sensitively. One of the users wrote, “It’s 2022 almost. And Bollywood’s treatment of mental health is abysmal, cruel, and ignorant as ever. Do the world a huge favour and don’t watch #AtrangiRe.”  
    Another wrote, “The way they have trivialized a serious mental health issue is what is disturbing. Especially that whole “magic pill” business. Recovery and rehabilitation from mental illness doesn’t happen like that. But then it’s a “Bollywood” film where “entertainment” is more imp. #AtrangiRe.”

    People are also upset with Sara for taking up this character but for her, this was more of a curse-breaker as her previous movie didn’t work out in her favour. 

    In an interview with Firstpost, she said, “After Kedarnath and Simmba releasing back to back there was a certain expectation from me and I apologize that I have not been able to deliver in my third and fourth film (Coolie No 1). I am cognizant of that, I realize that. So after Kedarnath, there was dealing of success that I had to go through and after Love Aaj Kal there was dealing of failure that I had to go through. It is all part and parcel of life,” she says.

I think how you deal with your failure immediately is very important. This film matters to me the most because I get to play Aanand L Rai’s leading heroine and I know now after having watched the film, having done his film, and having done other films what the value and what the importance of this film in my life is. I also know that Aanandji on a personal level uplifted me and gave me love and confidence at a time that I lost it for my own self.”
