What most people don’t realise is that a toxic workplace does not only affect your work and productivity but your mental health as well.
Since you spend most of your day’s time working, it's important that your office, the people you work with and the job you do brings you satisfaction and contentment, rather than making you miserable.

If you have been feeling miserable or unhappy at work lately, it could be more than just work stress or burnout. It’s possible that the work environment at your office is contributing to a bad state of mind. The signs may seem normal and harmless but you need to notice them before it’s late.

Here are 5 tell-tale signs of a dysfunctional and toxic workplace that you need to take note of and fix it as soon as possible:

    1. There Are Gossip Mongers Around...Constantly © iStock
If your colleagues indulge in gossiping and mocking other employees behind their back all the time, it can be really uncomfortable, not to mention derogatory.

Whether you are the topic of their gossip or not, you should call it out or part yourself from the group of people who do it.

If employees get preferential treatment from the managers and supervisors based on their personal equation with them, it can make other employees self-doubt their work and feel undervalued.

    3. Co-Workers Are Lethargic © iStock
If it seems like nobody in your office wants to take up any work or challenges, never has new ideas and are always demotivated, either because they are overworked or just lethargic, it is likely to be toxic.

You can expect lesser growth opportunities and professional and personal development of your own.

A lot can be said about the team and the work environment by how the leader is.

If they ask their team to work on odd hours as and when they please, show no empathy, have a bad attitude or put you down every chance they get, it’s time to look for other opportunities with hopefully better leadership.

While Hollywood has made a number of iconic films in the sci-fi genre over the years, the Hindi film industry is still far behind in getting them right.

After the release of the Hollywood classic Back to the Future in 1985, Bollywood too tried to make a sci-fi film about time travelling in the form of Time Machine.
Directed by Shekhar Kapur, Time Machine was an ambitious project starring Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, Gulshan Grover, Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha and Amrish Puri.
The story of the film was about a young man (Aamir Khan) who uses a scientist's (Vijay Anand) time machine to travel back in time in search of his parents, played by Naseeruddin Shah and Rekha.

It has been reported that the film was shot around 80 per cent before it ran into financial trouble and was, eventually, shelved.

Earlier this year, in an interview with Cinestaan, Time Machine’s Art Director Bijon Das Gupta opened up about the film and shared interesting details about it.
Talking about the concept of the film and why it was shelved, he said, “Time Machine had almost 10 or 11 reels ready. With a fabulous set, a house and all that. It was Back To The Future (1985) with an Indian touch.”

He added, “Unfortunately, the producers ran into problems. So they could not go any further. I told Shekhar you take over the project, let's give it to somebody else [for production]. But by the time it got there, there was a backlog of money the producers owed for various things. The film became the casualty. They told us the moment you get money, we can restart. But you know how it goes, it just got dropped.”

He also revealed that the movie had Aamir Khan’s character travelling back in time and meeting a young Amitabh Bachchan before he became an actor and a star.

Bijon stated, “(Aamir’s character) goes back in time and sees Amitabh Bachchan at a bus stop. He says, 'You will become a very big actor.' Amitabh is surprised because he is still struggling and does not know [what lies in store]. So Aamir sends him to meet these up and coming writers called Salim (Khan) and Javed (Akhtar). He tells him, 'Sir, you go and meet them. It will get done.' Then Amitabh gets Zanjeer (1973).”
Similarly, there was another sequence in the film where Aamir’s character travels to the era of Mahabharat and witnesses Lord Krishna and Arjun’s conversation right before the battle of Kurukshetra, “Whatever we shot was brilliant! That I can tell you. It had the best sequences, including one that takes him back to the Mahabharat.”
Since BR Chopra’s Mahabharat was highly popular in the early ‘90s, the sequence was based on similar lines.

The movie was also supposed to feature a number of ‘90s stars in guest appearances.

There is a short making video of the film available on YouTube where Aamir Khan, Shekhar Kapur and Bijon Das Gupta are seen talking about it. It also features Aamir Khan and Vijay Anand on the set filming for a scene.
    Watch the making video below:

Going by the details shared by the Art Director, Time Machine seemed like an interesting project that had the potential to change Hindi cinema.

Unfortunately, it couldn't make it to the finish line and Bollywood's quest to get a film time travel right continues.

After what seems like forever, yesteryear heartthrob Raveena Tandon is back in a new avatar. In the Netflix produced crime thriller, Aranyak, Raveena plays Kasturi, a cop attempting to find answers to a mysterious sequence killer.
The show was released on 10th December,  and is ready to be binged on Netflix.
What is Aranyak about? © Netflix
The story revolves around the events and inhabitants of the picturesque but fictional hill station called Sinorah. Parambrata Chattopadhyay essays the role of Angad, a city-bred cop armed with the necessary smarts to solve sophisticated crimes. Whereas, Raveena’s Kasturi is the congenial, local policewoman who understands the inner machinations of not just Sinorah’s inhabitants, but also its checkered past. The duo is required to meld their silk and steel in order to solve the befuddling rape-murder-mystery of a young tourist.

But before you decide to invest your precious weekend on Aranyak, let’s find out what the Twitterverse has to say about the show.
How is Aranyak? The show’s trailer looked promising when it was released, but the actual series seems to be a bit of a mixed bag, going by the reactions online. Raveena’s portrayal of a grounded cop had excited the audiences initially. Does that sentiment still hold true?
ReactionsLet's start with the positive. According to this user, Aranyak is riveting and increasingly engaging with every episode. A must watch for the weekend.

Another user resonates with sentiment, they said, “Binge watched a series after so long. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Also scared the sh!t out of me at times.

Raveena on screen is a treat to watch. #Aranyak”

#Aranyak finished all the episodes in one go…so good to see @TandonRaveena back with a full swing..gripping story
    — Yogesh Bhatt (@YogeshBhatt1183) December 10, 2021 However, it's not all peachy, for Aranyak. There have been murmurings that the show suffers from poor editing, something that according to this user affects their final score.

    #Aranyak

Loved watching it. Good acting and story. Suspense. Ignore Raveena's irritating acting in the first episode. She makes it up for jt from E2. pic.twitter.com/kKvNF2tsXE
    — Cycle Chain Shankar (@dakuwithchaku) December 10, 2021So have you made up your mind? Would you like to binge Aranyak through the weekend, or would you rather give this one a miss?
