The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)Β recently faced huge backlash on social media over Team India’s new diet plan ahead of the two-Test series against New Zealand.
The reports published in several media outlets claimed that the Indian players will be allowed to eat only Halal meatΒ which led to a huge outrage on social networking sites, with fans questioning the Indian board for overlooking players’ religious sentiments and forcing them to abide by their unjust decision.

After facing severe backlash for the last couple of days, the BCCI has finally broken silence on the matter and rubbished all such reports that claimed they issued new dietary plans for its players.

Speaking to India Today, the BCCI secretary Arun Dhumal said that the board never issued any directives to the Indian team regarding what they can eat and what they can’t. He said the BCCI top brass never discussed this issue and ensured that this decision will not be enforced. He also added that every player is free to consume food based on their individual preferences.

β€œThis (diet plan) has never been discussed and will not be enforced. I don't know when this decision was taken or if it was. As far as I know, we never issued any guidelines related to diet plans. As far as food habits are concerned, it is the individual choice of players, BCCI has no role in it,” Dhumal told India Today.

β€œThe BCCI doesn't advise any of its players what to eat and what not to eat. Players are free to choose their own food. Whether they want to be vegetarian, it's their choice, whether they want to be vegan, it's their choice, whether they want to be non-vegetarian, it's their choice,” he added.
#BCCIHalalBouncer | #Exclusive: BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal speaks to TIMES NOW over the dietary plan controversy.

'BCCI doesn't tell players what to eat and what not to. This has been done to keep the menu unilateral', says Dhumal.

While Dumal has claimed that the board has given players full freedom to decide what they want to eat but he can’t run away from the reality. As per images of the guidelines issued by the team management, the catering service providers were clearly directed to not serve pork or beef and only serve β€˜Halal’ meat to the players.
The BCCI is claiming that this has been done to keep the menu unilateral for both the teams. However, the answer from the BCCI treasurer was far from convincing because looking at his response it was clear that all he wanted was to clear the board’s name from this controversy by putting the ball in the team management’s court.

The biggest question here is when the majority of the players belong to religious communities that don’t consume β€˜Halal’ meat then what message was the team management trying to send by making the Halal meat as the preferred choice.

The Shahid KapoorΒ we are seeing on the screens today has come a long way. He made his Bollywood debut with Ishq Vishk in 2003. He was introduced as a chocolate boy of the industry and after many failures, he managed to reinvent himself. He was once considered an underdog but now, he has shunned all the notions about himself and emerged as one of the most bankable stars of Bollywood.Β

From Haider to Kaminey, we kept seeing different shades of the actor. With Haider, he took a risk and proved to the viewers that he is much more than a cute-looking man who only does romantic roles. He again proved people wrong who thought he was just a conventional actor with good looks when he stepped into the role of a rockstar who’s into drugs in Udta Punjab. It was Kabir Singh that took Shahid to the next level and gave us a superstar.Β

The film had collected over Rs 250 crores at the box office in India. It was a big achievement for the Haider actor and at the trailer launch of his next movie, Jersey, he revealed that he went like a beggar to the filmmakers who have been a part of the Rs 200-crore club.Β Β

As quoted by Bollywood Life, he said, β€œAfter Kabir Singh released, I went like a beggar to everybody. I went to all these people who've made these 200-250 crore films. I've never been a part of this club, so it was completely new to me. Having spent 15-16 years in the industry, I never had such a huge grosser. So, when it finally happened, I didn't know where to go, it was all new to me.”
β€œYou could say, I tried my best not to do this (Jersey, which he was offered before doing Kabir Singh). So, credit to Gowtam (Gowtam Tinnanuri, the director) for still working with me, waiting for me, and I'm so happy I did this. I can safely say this is my best film yet,” Shahid added.Β Β
He also revealed that he was approached for Jersey weeks before Kabir Singh was released. β€œI heard this story and it stayed with me. I saw this film 2 weeks before Kabir Singh was released and I cried buckets. I saw it with Mira and my manager and they were both looking at me,” he said, as reported by Pinkvilla.Β Β

The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who was also the director of the Telugu version of the film. It is a story of a former cricket player who tries to revive his career but fails miserably. It is about a man who aspires to get back into sports in his mid-40s but faces several complications.Β
