After rocking the industry with his smash-hit movie, Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor is making a comeback as he has stepped into the shoes of a cricketer in the Hindi remake of the hit Telugu film Jersey. The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who was also the director of the Telugu version of the film. It is a story of a former cricket player who tries to revive his career but fails miserably. It is about a man who aspires to get back into sports in his mid-40s but faces several complications.

The makers have launched the trailer of the film and Shahid has once again proven that he can play any character with ease. In the trailer, you will see how Shahid’s character juggles between his personal problems and his dreams of joining cricket again.

In the trailer, you get to see a father trying to fulfill his son’s wish of buying a jersey. It shows how unemployment changes your perception of seeing life. Shahid's character has to be careful about not tarnishing his image in front of his son. Apart from Shahid, the movie also features Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in the lead. Mrunal plays the role of Shahid’s wife and she owned the screen whenever we got to see her in the trailer. It will be interesting to see the two in the movie.
    Here’s the trailer:

People have given a big thumbs up to the trailer and are appreciating Shahid’s acting skills. They are also praising the fact that Shahid adds his own charm in the remakes.

Sharing the poster yesterday with the announcement of the trailer date, Shahid wrote, “ITS TIME! We have waited to share this emotion with you for 2 years. This story is special. This team is special. This character is special. And the fact that we get to share it on the big screen with you all is special. I don’t have words to express my gratitude. I hope you all feel what I felt when I played him.”

Earlier during an Instagram LIVE, Shahid Kapoor had said, “I watched Jersey before Kabir Singh. The time when I saw it, I was unhappy. I used to think about where my career would go, what I will do next. So, I could relate to the story of Jersey, which is about late success. It’s about a man who finds glory at a time when people retire.”
Originally, Jersey starred Nani in the lead. The film went on to win a National Award as well. Speaking with Pinkvilla earlier this year, Nani had said, “I think he will do it better. He is a brilliant performer and can really get into the skin of the character. Gowtam (Tinnanuri) showed me a few pictures - the director of the original, and it looks very promising. Gowtam is somebody who is a man of very few words, even if he likes something - I know it but not everyone can say it - I can see it on his face when he likes something. He doesn’t say much, but when Gowtam told me how happy he was with the output of the Hindi version, I already can imagine how brilliantly it would have come out.”
Jersey is set to release on December 31.

Bigg Boss OTT fame actress Urfi Javed has lately been hitting headlines for her airport looks. Recently, she was called out for copying Kendall Jenner in a dress which was very similar to hers and yet again, she’s become the centre of trolling after her latest airport look has made people ask a lot of questions.

    View this post on Instagram
A lot of people are questioning her bold choice of clothes for travelling and some people even called her ‘gareebon ki Hollywood actress’ along with enquiring about why her tailor was making these clothes in the first place. However, some people were irked by her look being a blatant copy of something similar worn by Bella Hadid in recent times.

    View this post on Instagram
Yeah, well the similarity is kind of uncanny. Bella wore this to a Music Award ceremony last year. Urfi is prone to people assuming things and in an interview with ETimes he had addressed this. “ I love planning my looks and I know they are OTT (Over The Top). I am OTT in every sense. I wear stuff which anyone would not even imagine. While it might be extraordinary for many, for me it is just ordinary as I have always been like this”, she quipped.

Well, Urfi is confident and she doesn’t care what people think about her sartorial choices. The internet can sometimes be a brutal place where no one is sadly spared.

Expectations were high but Team India endured a disastrous T20 World Cup campaign which saw them getting knocked out from the group stage itself.
From physical and mental fatigue to dew to the batting unit’s combined failure, most people, irrespective of who you asked, would have picked one of these three answers as the possible reason behind India’s dismal performance.
But in all fairness, as much as the players were responsible for the team's horrendous show, some other people also played an equal part in the team’s downfall.
These were the people who were trusted with the responsibility of picking a world-class squad but they made a complete mess of it. Be it the inclusion of Hardik Pandya or the shocking omission of Yuzvendra Chahal, their decisions came back to haunt India badly.
By the time the IPL 2021 ended, things became pretty clear that some of their decisions made no sense but they still persisted with the same group of players and sent India to face humiliation in front of the whole cricket community.
In the last few months, the selection panel led by former India pacer Chetan Sharma has made several questionable decisions but we look at only five of them which are enough to prove how their clueless decisions are ruining Indian cricket.
Yuzvendra Chahal View this post on Instagram
Ahead of the tournament if you had asked anyone who would be India’s first-choice spinner, nine out of ten people would have taken Chahal’s name. The leg-spinner was an integral part of India’s limited-overs set-up and was not dropped even once in the last four years.
The selectors argued that since Chahal bowls slow in the air, his skills would not be as effective on the UAE pitches as compared to Rahul Chahar who delivers at a greater pace. The Haryana spinner forced them to bite their own teeth with his incredible performance in the IPL 2021 but still they ignored him.
All the major teams in the tournament had at least one leg-spinner in their starting XI but India played without one in all but one match. Chahar’s decision clearly shows that the selectors and the team management were not on the same page.

Varun Chakaravarthy  View this post on Instagram
The KKR spinner was hailed as India’s ‘secret weapon’ ahead of the tournament and, to be fair, the way he performed in the second-half IPL 2021, those claims seemed to be totally justified. Towards the business end of the competition, Chakaravarthy got injured but he kept on playing, thus aggravating his injury.
The selectors ignored his injury concerns and retained him in the squad saying he would recover in time before the start of the tournament. He did play in India’s opening two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand but looked completely off. There was no mystery in his bowling as players from both the sides took special liking to his bowling and targeted him without thinking twice. He missed the third match with injury but returned for the second last group match
Now the question is, how come a player who was running through oppositions a couple weeks back had, all of a sudden, lost all his charm. The selectors would never acknowledge but the fact that he was dropped for the New Zealand T20I series only goes on to prove that he wasn’t 100 percent match fit.

Rahul Chahar View this post on Instagram
If anyone wants to learn how to shatter the morale of a talented cricketer, they must take lessons from Indian selectors. By preferring Chahar over Chahal in the T20 World Cup squad, they filled him with great confidence.
Even though he didn’t get much game time, he would have been happy sharing the dressing room with some of the finest cricketers in the country. However, in the very next series the selectors dropped him from the squad, despite him not getting enough chances to showcase his talent.
Hardik Pandya  View this post on Instagram
Hardik Pandya’s fitness was always a concern but the chief selector Chetan Sharma was confident that he would deliver his full quota of four overs. Not many experts were in favour of having an unfit or half-fit Hardik in India’s playing XI but the selectors defied every logic and kept backing him, saying he was on the right path.
Hardik played in all the matches but failed in all of them. He did resume bowling but it was nowhere near his best. The selectors were so confident in his ability that they didn’t even name his backup and the team was left with no choice but to play him.
Hanuma Vihari View this post on Instagram
Vihari’s last international appearance came at the Sydney Cricket Ground where he combined with Ravichandran Ashwin to eke out a remarkable draw from the jaws of defeat. Battling an injury, he produced a defensive masterclass and helped India keep the series alive going into the final Test match.
He returned to the squad after recovering from injury and toured England but didn’t get game time. Now, he has been dropped from the squad altogether. After his exclusion led to a huge outrage on social media, the selectors rushed to save their face and drafted him in the India A squad.
It's unfortunate to see a player who put his body on the line to help the team being handed demotion instead of promotion.
