Hindi-dubbed versions of Hollywood films are often a hit or miss. Whatever the reason may be, dubbing studios have to deal with a number of issues when dubbing in different languages. As a result, we often get instances in dubbed movies that either don’t make much sense, or are downright hilarious.

The Hindi dubbed version of Marvel’s Shang-Chi presented one such scenario that desi people on Twitter are finding quite hilarious.

    © Marvel Studios
In one of the scenes, where Awkwafina and Simu-Liu were flying in a jet, a stewardess comes up to them and asks them what they would like for their in-flight meal. While the original version has one of the characters say that they would like to go for the beef option.

This is a scene from the movie @shangchi.
Well, the beef in this scene has been changed to veg biriyani in Hindi dubbed version. It's Upma in Tamil and bread omelette in Malayalam. Welcoming @MarvelStudios into India's beef poltics. pic.twitter.com/CqUUUW83KF
    — Rohit Thayyil (@RohitThayyil) November 13, 2021
The Hindi dubbed version however, has them go for the “vegetarian” option, which in this case is ‘veg biryani.’ The subtitles also read something along this line.
What’s funny is that in different languages, the options they go for are different. In Tamil, it becomes Upma, and in Malayalam, it becomes bread & omelette. In some languages it becomes cottage cheese or paneer, as it is referred to in Hindi.
While this may have been a move by Marvel Studios to not rile up the the sentiments of most Indians, netizens on Twitter, couldn’t help but find this a bit funny.
I can just imagine a person watching this scene in the regional language and thinking "oh they eat veg pulao/upma etc there as well." For a huge population watching a movie can be the only glimpse in another culture. I'm just speechless.

    — r°jun (@wulfbiscuits) November 13, 2021Marvel played it extra safe and made it Veg Biriyani. Noice
    — Gokzilla (@gokz888) November 13, 2021Bread omelette for malayalis? Yeh kya na insaafi hai
    — Onward Kerala (@onwardkerala) November 13, 2021There were a few others, who did appreciate Marvel Studios, for going the extra mile, and take the local people’s sentiments and values into consideration. Of course, there were people who did equate it with beef politics.
Which part of india are you talking about!!! Kerala, Goa or Nagaland. Or is it just UP Bihar and MP ..FYKI kinds of you are playing Gobar politics.
    — It’s me (@nrynshny) November 14, 2021Because we believe in respecting the law of the land and the local culture. But in our own country, we expect others to respect ours too.
    — Manish Bhatia (@TonyMontana5461) November 13, 2021Marvel had taken the politics out of it and respected people sentiments. People like you have brought the politics right into it. I think you are more disappointed that you couldn't hear the word beef. As if listening those magical 4 words may have satisfied your urges.
    — Rajesh (@rajesh_1407) November 14, 2021ig Disney did not want any upma with the indian censor board
    — Varun posting his Ws (@Varun_9898) November 13, 2021Dubbing movies from one language to another will never be easy, given there are a number of judgement calls that need to be taken. Not only is there a difference in language and sentiments, but also of cultures, so it becomes a little tricky to walk that line. Still we have to appreciate what Marvel is doing here. For purists, they always have the option to go for the original, native version of the film.

Pakistani bowler Hasan Ali has finally made his first public statement since the time he had dropped the sitter of a catch that would have dismissed Matthew Wade, the Australian who struck three consecutive sixes to knock Pakistan out of the T20 World Cup 2021.
While the Pakistan cricket team looked in a good place and were well on their way to restricting Aaron FInch’s men from advancing to the final, Ali almost instantly became a national villain when he gave Wade an easy pass. It was his teammate Shaheen Afridi who had to face the bare brunt of things when he was sent for three maximums in a row that completely turned around the result.

However, since the moment, Ali had gone radio-silent as rumours of his family and him getting threats from all around Pakistan began to emerge in international media. After taking a couple of days to let the loss seep in, the pacer hopped on Twitter to apologise to his fans and talk about what he plans to do next.
"I know you all are upset because my performance didn't meet your expectations but not more disappointed than me. Don't change your expectations from me. I want to serve Pakistan cricket at the highest level possible, so back to hard work. This patch will make me stronger. Thank you for all the messages, tweets, posts, calls and duas (prayers) – needed them," Ali tweeted.
میرا سینہ تیری حُرمت کا ہے سنگین حصار،
میرے محبوب وطن تُجھ پہ اگر جاں ہو نثار

    — Hassan Ali (@RealHa55an) November 13, 2021
Eventually Ali’s wife, Samiya Arzoo also addressed the rumours of their child getting safety threats from the people in Pakistan and rubbished them as false and baseless. A fake Twitter account was also created in the name of Arzoo and one of its Twitter threads got a lot of attention on social media as well, as people thought that it belong to the actual wife of the cricketer.
“I Samiya Arzoo wife of cricketer Hasan Ali appeal to respected PM @ImranKhanPTI and @TheRealPCB to ask Pakistani fan to stop attacking our whole family. I do understand the depression of cricket fan, but it is part of a game,” the fake account holder had started the five-tweet thread.
However, it was eventually confirmed that the account did not belong to the real Samiya Arzoo and got banned from the micro-blogging website within 13 hours of putting up that series of tweets accusing the people of Pakistan and asking their Prime Minister Imran Khan for security assurance.

‘Agar aap focused aur dedicated hain toh raaste apne aap bante jaate hain, Google ki zaroorat nahi padti navigation ke liye.’ - Pankaj Tripathi

If you have been following Pankaj Tripathi’s journey, you would have a fair idea that the above-mentioned statement by him perfectly sums up his journey as he has found success all by himself. Tripathi entered the film industry with Run and Omkara in 2004 and has every time made his presence felt on the big screen. From Sacred Games to Stree, he has proved that he's versatile too.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Pankaj Tripathi said that when he started off, things were completely different and he never imagined good things would come to him. He had said, “When I joined the movies, I had never imagined that any of these wonderful things were possible for me. I came to the movies with modest expectations, looking for good work. The very fact that the audience welcomed me with so much love is humbling.”
Pankaj Tripathi’s characters in his movies are  like a breath of fresh air. We decided to revisit his journey and we realized that there are characters played by him that truly deserve spin-offs.
1: Sultan Qureshi in Gangs of Wasseypur
It won’t be wrong to say that Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur changed how Indian cinema was perceived globally. It was raw and the characters were well-written. The powerful performances by the main lead actors only enhanced the credibility of the movie. It was this movie that made us notice Pankaj Tripathi whose character Sultan Qureshi was ruthless. He was the head of the Qureshi clan and it will be interesting to see his journey in a stand-alone movie.
    2: Rudra In Stree
If you have watched the film Stree, you would agree with us that Pankaj Tripathi’s character Rudra too deserves his own spin-off. Well, he is the only one who knows about the stories connected to Stree. It will be fun to watch his comical take about the entire story in a Bollywood movie led by him.
    3: Akhandanand Tripathi In Mirzapur
Whenever we think of Mirzapur, we cannot not think of Kaleen Bhaiya. It will be interesting to see a movie that showcases how he got the throne and how he exercises so much power. Pankaj Tripathi added life to the character of Akhandanand Tripathi and we can’t wait to see more of him on the screens.
    4: Guruji In Sacred Games
Guruji in Sacred Games was one of the most controversial characters played by Pankaj Tripathi. It would be interesting to know his life and how he started this entire cult.
5: Principal Srivastava In Nil Battey Sannata

This was the first time we got to witness the comical side of Pankaj Tripathi. In Nil Battey Sannata, Tripathi plays a strict Maths teacher and it will be interesting to see a web series on him running the entire school and how he tackles the functioning of the education system.
Do you agree with us? Or do you think we missed a few names? In any case, do let us know in the comments section below.

Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, recently spoke about Virat Kohli’s future with the Indian cricket team now that he has stepped down as the captain of the T20I squad and there are speculations of him giving up the leadership in other formats as well.
Speaking on Samaa TV, Afridi addressed the former Indian T20I skipper’s reasoning for giving up the captaincy and went on to share his thoughts on what Kohli should do next.
    View this post on Instagram
"I think Virat should take the decision to continue as only a player. There will be relatively less pressure, he has played plenty of cricket too. He will enjoy his cricket and batting because captaining a team is not easy, especially in countries like India and Pakistan. As long as you are captaining well, things go smooth", he stated during the conversation, suggesting that Kohli should resign from the captaincy spot across all formats of the game and simply focus on being the elite-level batter that he already is.

Afridi also went on to side with the Indian cricket board’s decision to crown Rohit Sharma as the next captain of the Men in Blue and spoke about the experience he has had with the ‘Hitman’ when the two were teammates for a year while playing in the Indian Premier League for Deccan Chargers.
    View this post on Instagram
"As far as Rohit is concerned, this was on the cards. I have played with him for a year (at Deccan Chargers). He is an outstanding player with terrific shot selection. He stays relaxed where required and shows aggression when needed to as well. We will see both sides."
"Like I said, this captaincy move was bound to happen. He should definitely be given a chance", he further added.

There have been rumours within the BCCI that Kohli has already started thinking about ridding himself of the responsibilities as the captain in all formats and that it will take place gradually but surely. This would in turn mean that Sharma might be trusted with the ODI captaincy as well.
At the moment, it has been confirmed that Kohli will be rested during the T20Is and Test matches that India will be playing against the touring New Zealand side in the second half of November.

We are a part of the ‘swipe right and left’ world and even your dating life depends on a click. In this digital era where breakups and divorces are no big deal, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa’s fairytale romance will restore your faith in true love. Rajkummar and Patralekhaa have been together for many years and starred in filmmaker Hansal Mehta's CityLights which was released in 2014.
    View this post on Instagram
In one of her earlier interviews with the Humans of Bombay, Patralekhaa revealed how she first perceived Raj when she first saw him in Love *** Aur Dhokha (LSD). She said, "I thought that the weird guy he played in the film was actually what he was like. My perception of him was already tarnished. He told me later, that he had first seen me in an ad and thought, 'I'm going to marry her'. It was so ironic." What started out as a misconception for Patralekhaa turned out to be the most beautiful reality for her.
If you have known Rajkummar Rao in a personal capacity, you would have an idea that he is a die-hard romantic and has been committed to his ladylove for years. He has set standards for millennials to follow and well, you all can take some lessons from him to keep your love life all sparked up. There’s one more video that’s doing the rounds on the internet wherein you can see Raj proposing to her by going down on his knees. Patralekhaa accepted his proposal in no time but she also went down on her knees to show her love for him.
    Here’s the video:

There’s an anecdote that Rajkummar had shared in one of his earlier interviews. In 2018, Rajkummar had spoken about his mother's reaction to meeting Patralekhaa for the first time. “Patralekha is my best friend -- we discuss cinema, we discuss acting or traveling. We’re not discussing marriage or babies because we like the way we are,” Rajkummar said in a statement. “When my mom first met Patralekha, she said that she’s going to be the last girl I’m meeting,” he added.
In 2019, when filmmaker Karan Johar asked Rajkummar Rao about his marriage plans with Patralekhaa, he said, "I still feel like a kid honestly. I am not ready to get married. We are in a very happy relationship and we are very happy about it. Our parents are not complaining so there is no pressure to get married. And we both are focusing on our respective careers. It's not like we don't believe in the institution but right now we don't feel it's the right time. It's a mutual decision."
Turns out that they are now finally taking the next big step
    Congratulations, Rajkummar and Patralekhaa.

When it comes to Jaydev Unadkat, the fans of Indian cricket have always looked at him with sympathy for not being able to become a more prominent member of the senior Men in Blue squad.
Despite leading the U-19 team during the 2010 World Cup and being a regularly seen player in the Indian Premier league, the ambidextrous all-rounder has only managed to play in 1 Test, 7 ODIs and 10 T20Is. Furthermore, the last time he was with the Indian side, was back in 2018.

Coming off a forgettable IPL season with Rajasthan Royals, the 30-year old is finally having a much-awaited Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament in which he has already picked up nine wickets in five matches with a brilliant average of 14.66.
Always the one to enjoy the spoils of his victory, Unadkat has been recently sharing some video highlights of his batting and bowling performances during the domestic cricket tournament and adding certain eyebrow-rising captions while uploading these videos from his Twitter account.

    — Jaydev Unadkat (@JUnadkat) November 13, 2021Eventually, certain people on the micro-blogging website started feeling as if Unadkat was trying to send cryptic messages to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), taunting them for not considering him for the new squads that were announced ahead of the T20I and Test series against New Zealand on home turf.
Bhai ye sab dkhake kya proof kar rahe hai ..sab ne dkha hai har baar international players aur ipl mein kitni pitai hti hai bhai apki aur kafi chance diya hai apko .. Rajasthan ne itne chance diye har saal par apka performance poor raha hai ..

    — Jay (@JaipurwalaJAY) November 12, 2021Although, the Saurashtra skipper ignored the comments and criticism initially, he eventually ran out of patiences and decided to respond to the unnecessary bashing. Once again, he hopped on Twitter and let the critics hear an earful.
“By the means of uploading videos of what I was able to do in a recent domestic series (cos it isn’t telecasted), doesn’t mean I am taking a jibe at anyone or any player in anyway. I took pride in what I did for my team. I am happy. I showed off. (don’t we all love to do that?),” Unadkat tweeted.

    — Jaydev Unadkat (@JUnadkat) November 13, 2021
“Shouldn’t we take things in a positive way & have mutual respect for everyone who’s reached this level in the sport? Typing a tweet can be easy, but reaching an elite level in a sport, in a country of a billion, is not!” he further added in the same Twitter thread.
It didn’t take long for his fans and followers to get behind him:
Please keep doing this. If someone misunderstands you, let them.

But by all means do. Please. I know that many of us want them.
