'Not sure why Ryan turned out the way he did,' quips Dwayne Johnson

There was a time when Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor was at the very top of the film chain having done some memorable and commercially successful films like Coolie No. 1, Dil To Pagal Hai, Raja Hindustani, Biwi No.1, and Hero No. 1.
© Disney+ Hotstar
However, the actress decided to take a complete backseat from films at the peak of her career when she got married to Indian businessman Sunjay Kapur. But all did not go according to plan for the star, who soon after marriage started having troubles with Sunjay, and some details of it are indeed very shocking.
© Twitter
As per reports, Karisma faced a lot of incidents of domestic abuse from Sunjay as well as his mother. According to Jagran, Karisma admitted that her life completely changed after marriage as she suffered from serious problems every day.
Talking about her worst memory from the marriage which ended in 2016, Karisma said that Sunjay actually tried auctioning her on their honeymoon.
Yeah, you read that right! It really seems terrible to read it. Imagine she actually went through such hell.
According to Karisma, the torture from Sunjay began as soon as she got married to him, after which, during her honeymoon, he tried forcing her to sleep with his friends. However, when Karisma refused, she was beaten up by Sunjay and he even went on to the extent of quoting her price to one of his friends. Things actually did not end there.
It was also reported that Sunjay was actually still in a physical relationship with his first wife, and when Karisma tried to confront him regarding the same, he assaulted her in return. According to reports, things were so bad that Karisma finally decided to put an end to the torture and in 2012, started living away from Sunjay along with her kids.
She then filed for a divorce from him and finally separated from him after being involved in a toxic marriage for a period of 13 years. She really did go through a lot. A lot of strength to her and hopefully she is living a better life today.

It's wedding season in Bollywood with superstars like Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif on course to tie the knot, and with Rajkummar Rao already being married to Patralekhaa.
© Instagram/VickyKatrinaupdates
Now, when we think of these lovely marriages, we certainly also think about the Bollywood marriages of yesteryears that failed to work. Weirdly enough, some of these marriages ended in divorces because of some crazy reasons. Here are the Bollywood couples that called quits for some shocking reasons.
1. Imran Khan & Avantika Malik © Twitter
Reportedly, the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na actor's marriage problems began when he decided to retire from acting. It was said that, unlike Imran, Avantika wasn't so keen on the idea of him quitting so early, and wanted to push him as an actor. Eventually, they split up, with the decision shocking everyone around them.
2. Arjun Rampal & Mehr Jesia © Twitter
Arjun and Mehr Jasia divorced each other after two decades of marriage, shortly after Arjun packed his bags to move out of their rented apartment. According to reports, the couple's marriage started wearing out due to their association with Shah Rukh Khan. Weird, right?
Well, as per reports, Arjun really wanted to be a part of Ra.One, which he eventually was, and well, Arjun's wife wanted SRK to provide a higher remuneration for her husband. If this is one of the reasons, it's gotta be pretty darn crazy!
3. Sanjay Dutt And Rhea Pillai © Twitter
When Sanju baba was married to Rhea Pillai, things may have looked rosy, but they sure weren't. As per reports, it was revealed that both Sanjay and Rhea had been in extra-marital relationships. You sure know what happened next. The D-word.
4. Karisma Kapoor & Sunjay Kapur © Twitter
Karisma used to rule Bollywood at a time because of her hits, which to be honest, were a lot. She later got married to businessman Sunjay Kapur, however, their marriage was reported to be very toxic.
In fact, it was reported that Sunjay even forced Karisma to sleep with his friends on their honeymoon, and when Karisma refused, he physically assaulted her. All these reasons forced Karisma to later divorce Sunjay.

Actor Kangana Ranaut is at it again. Only she can be honoured with a civilian award and less than two days later face the burning ire of Indians who are angry at her choice of words and thoughts. She recently made a statement about the country and her comments around India’s freedom have not gone down well with anyone in the nation. She mentioned that India’s true freedom came in 2014 and what we got back in 1947 was just mere ‘bheek’.
The RSS could never accept the fact that their British masters were forced to leave in 1947. Their slavery knew no bounds. No wonder they didn't hoist the tricolour for half a century.
The return of slavery in 2014 was their 'independence'. Kangana Ranaut is just one of them. pic.twitter.com/GmAkJ6QWPC
— Gaurav Pandhi (@GauravPandhi) November 11, 2021 Soon after the clip got viral on the internet, Indians united in fury to protest against her and some even called upon the President to cancel her Padma Shri.
Kangana must be booked against Sedition and Treason charges.
This is an insult to Independent India as well as an insult to Gandhiji, Nehru, Abulkalam, Patel etc.. https://t.co/hXMfQ63wG3
— . (@OfficialMohd1) November 11, 2021The President must exercise power conferred upon him under Rule 10 and cancel Kangana Ranaut’s Padma Shri for the disgusting bheek mey mili azaadi comment.
RT if you agree. pic.twitter.com/XT2qVFWLkR
— Karam Komireddy (@KaramKomi) November 11, 2021 People are denouncing her for letting down our freedom fighters and making callous statements around the Independence of India, a topic which continues to scar our cultural fabric and is extremely sentimental.
it's ironically to see that how can anyone let down our freedom fighters ? #KanganaRanaut you haven't even one percent of status in front of freedom fighters. @WhoNeerajKumar @RAMCHAN13198642 @CongressSiyaram @inc_aloksingh @Rajesh15183 pic.twitter.com/5xv53ECIsW
#KanganaRanaut pic.twitter.com/sLFwkQ1f8d
— Arjun Modhwadia (@arjunmodhwadia) November 11, 2021 In fact, a formal complaint has now been filed against the actor by Preethi Menon, the national executive chairman of the Aam Admi Party.
Submitted an application to @MumbaiPolice requesting action on Kangana Ranaut for her seditious and inflammatory statements on @TimesNow, under sections 504, 505 and 124A.
Hope to see some action @CPMumbaiPolice @DGPMaharashtra pic.twitter.com/9WxFXJFnEn
— Preeti Sharma Menon (@PreetiSMenon) November 11, 2021 While Kangana is not the one who minces her opinion or her words, she certainly went too far in degrading the fight for independence and reducing it down to a mere ‘bheek’. Indians are quite angry and it looks like this is not going down any soon.

Some movies touch you in a way that they become more than a mere few hours of visual aesthetic pleasure. Rockstar is more than a film for its fans. It translated into an emotion, the music basically became a part of the DNA of every fan and ten years post its release, it continues to be an emotion for all of us.
The movie changed the way anyone could ever look at Ranbir Kapoor as an actor, it catapulted A R Rahman to a demi-god like visionary with the music that continues giving us goosebumps and of course, it made Imtiaz Ali the recipient of so much gratitude for making a movie like this.
The journey of Janardhan to Jordan is not an easy one, and courtesy Ranbir's marvellous skills, we all embark on that journey. Social media is abuzz with fans recalling what the movie means to them and honestly, it’s a beautiful thread of nostalgia.

Manoj Bajpayee, the son of a farmer from Bihar, battled all the odds to achieve his dreams and showed the world that he didn’t need any godfather to make it big in Bollywood. In an interaction with Humans of Bombay, Manoj had said that he aspired to become an actor since the age of nine. “I’m a farmer’s son; I grew up in a village in Bihar with 5 siblings–we went to a hut school. We led a simple life, but whenever we went to the city, we’d go to the theatre. I was a Bachchan fan & wanted to be like him. At 9, I knew acting was my destiny,” he'd said.
View this post on InstagramBefore shifting to Mumbai, he wanted to do theatre. He applied to NSD but was rejected thrice. He was so heartbroken that he even the thought of suicide crossed his mind. His friends were his backbone and kept him going till he finally cracked NSD. When he finally shifted to Mumbai, Manoj like any other immigrant and an outsider had to face rejections and it was tough to sustain in an expensive city.
“Initially, it was tough–I rented a chawl with 5 friends & looked for work, but got no roles. Once, an AD tore my photo & I’ve lost 3 projects in a day. I was even told to ‘get out’ after my 1st shot. I didn’t fit the ideal ‘hero’ face–so they thought I’d never make it to the big screen. All the while, I struggled to make rent & at times even a vada pav was costly,” he said. He went on to add, “But the hunger in my stomach couldn’t dissuade my hunger to succeed. After 4 years of struggle, I got a role in Mahesh Bhatt’s TV series. I got Rs.1500 per episode–my first steady income. My work was noticed & I was offered my first Bollywood film & soon, I got my big break with ‘Satya’.”
View this post on InstagramThen, there was no looking back for the actor. He has set an example for other struggling actors who come from different cities, while giving them hope that if he could do it without any godfather, even they can. Actors like Pankaj Tripathi have admitted to the fact that they got inspired by Manoj Bajpayee.
Not surprisingly then, Manoj also owns quite a few sets of swanky wheels and it shows how his hard work paid him back.
Here is the list of cars in his expensive collection:
1. Mercedes-Benz GLS 400d 4MATIC © TOI
It was August 2021 when he purchased the Mercedes-Benz GLS 400d 4MATIC. Prices for the car start at Rs 69 lakh. It comes with cool features such as speech recognition, touch control buttons, a 360-degree camera for parking, and more.
2. Land Cruiser Prado © Toyota
Manoj Bajpayee is also a proud owner of Land Cruiser Prado, prices for which start at around Rs 96 lakh. With its spacious seven-seat cabin and user-friendly tech features, it’s a great addition to Manoj’s collection.
3. BMW 3 Series © BMW
As per reports, Manoj Bajpayee also owns a BMW 3 series car which he bought for around Rs 41 lakh.
4. Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Scorpio © Toyota
© Mahindra
Manoj has also invested in Toyota Fortuner that cost him around Rs 35 lakh. He also owns a Mahindra Scorpio for which he paid around Rs 15 lakh.

In a lot of ways, I believe this movie was both behind and ahead of its time.
Behind, because the movie is literally a sketch of all the gender-biased and patriarchal notions that are wrong with the society and have been for the past few generations.
And ahead because it predicted the impact of a woman falsely accusing a man of sexual assault way before #MeToo came into the picture.
© Mukta Arts
The movie starts with a simple and very stupid confusion, where Priya (Kareena Kapoor) mistakes Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar) for a hotshot lawyer, under whom she has come to earn an internship.
At the same time, Raj is awaiting the arrival of a maid, for whom he put an ad out. Of course, Raj of all people recognised early on that Priya is not here for the job of a housekeeper and was actually there by confusion.
© Mukta Arts
Instead of clearing the confusion, Raj decided to pretend to be a lawyer, just so he could keep Priya in his sights and at home. And mind you, none of this borderline psycho and manipulative behaviour was flagged as problematic, but shown to be super romantic. Because according to Bollywood , love ke liye saala kuch bhi karega.
© Mukta Arts
Priya soon figures out that Raj wasn't the barrister Ram Chotrani that she took him to be and confronts him. Instead of getting freaked out and running away which any normal woman would, she giggles and falls in love.
© Mukta Arts
And next thing you know, the ambitious young intern who wanted to make it big in her career in law, settles for being a wife with a child on the way.
© Mukta Arts
Raj is due to now be promoted to the position of CEO and one day while his boss and company chairman Ranjit Roy is meeting with him, he ends up introducing his wife Sonia (Priyanka Chopra) to him. And from there, the plot thickens.
© Mukta Arts
Turns out, Raj and Sonia go way back. 5 years, to be precise.
They had crossed paths in Cape Town, fallen in love and were in a relationship. Sonia was young, ambitious and had big plans for her life. However, shit hit the fan when she found out she was pregnant and not nearly as ready to have a child.
© Mukta Arts
Despite making it clear how her decision to abort the child wasn’t a lack of love for Raj, but her own career trajectory and wants at that stage of life, Raj left her not respecting her wish to not bear a child. They consequently broke up and 5 years later, destiny (or actually, karma) crossed their paths once more.
© Mukta Arts
An interesting detail here would be the stark contrast between Priya and Sonia, two women in the movie, out of which one has been painted in a negative light, why? Because she wants to prioritise her career over having a child and is bold, unnerving and unapologetic for her choices.
And the other is Priya, painted in an ideal light because she wears covered clothes, decided to abandon her career in law to get married to a man who lied to her in the first place. The resemblance of how women are perceived in society to how they were in this film, was uncanny!
© Mukta Arts
While drama starts stirring in Raj’s life, considering Sonia is still evidently butt-hurt and Raj ignores to share this past secret with his naive wife Priya, Raj’s colleague Rakesh tells him about a defect their company’s new mobile headset is facing - it calls two people simultaneously, one the intended recipient and another - a random contact from the caller’s phonebook.
As Raj decides to stop the order for production, Sonia (being the cocky wife of the company’s chairman) exerts her powerful position to invite Raj over for a ‘discussion’. Obviously, she doesn’t talk shop and performs a seductive and terrifying dance solo (which can be a virgin’s guide on how to still stay a virgin) in front of Raj who is not interested enough to engage, but interested enough to sit through all of it. Nice.
© Mukta Arts
As his moral conscience kicks in (only after a locket with his wife’s face pops in front of him), he ups and leaves. Sonia, who gets very offended at now being embraced goes up to her husband and falsely accuses Raj of sexually harassing her, because how dare he, a married man, reject her advances?
© Mukta Arts
A case is filed and Raj asks his friend and barrister Ram Chotrani to take up his case. There is enough evidence against Raj at this point, primarily being the testimony of a crying (and lying) woman. Because who will believe a guy over crocodile tears in this society, right?
© Mukta Arts
Somehow, a tape is recovered that had recorded the entire incident at Sonia’s place, but Sonia manages to destroy it and continues to enjoy ruining Raj’s life, one slick move at a time. As the case proceeds, Ram Chotrani faces an injury and so, Priya decides to take over.
© Mukta Arts
What must be noticed here is the convenience with which Priya is substituted in place of barrister Ram Chotrani, only after he falls sick and only because her husband was facing a trial. At no point before this in her married life, did this formerly ambitious woman be shown to be practising law, but when it’s your pati parmeshwar, you’re all game. Well done on the patriarchy, Bollywood!
© Mukta Arts
Priya manages to expose Raj and Sonia’s previous relationship and also gets hold of a voice mail sent to Rakesh which exposes the fact that Sonia only married her husband for his money and that she was the one trying to seduce and frame Raj.
© Mukta Arts
Priya and Raj win the case, as Ranjit files for divorce against Sonia. Having lost and feeling exposed, Sonia ends up committing suicide, unwilling to go to prison.
Meanwhile, Raj and Priya have their child and blissfully continue to lead their prejudiced marriage.
The End.

Marvel just released The Eternals on November 5 in India as part of its Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase IV. Well, the superhero movie is being well received in India as well, mainly because of a star-studded cast that features actors like Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, Salma Hayek, and many others.
© Marvel Studios
It's the newest superhero team to have finally revealed themselves to the world, and with their integration to the whole Marvel universe now in full play, things are certainly going to get even more interesting. However, one thing that Indian fans are surely loving more about Marvel is that it finally is bringing in Indian talent to the screens as well.
And no. Right now, we aren't talking about Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar, but about Harish Patel, who was an integral part of The Eternals.
© Marvel Studios
Harish, who is famous for his character 'Ibu Hatela' in the 1998 Hindi film Gunda essays the role of Karun in The Eternals. And he's not just any other actor, as the veteran Indian star is actually quite admired by the Marvel bosses as well as The Eternals stars.
In fact, Marvel even released a solo poster of the actor Karun on their Twitter page.
Meet Karun. Check out his brand new character poster and see Karun in Marvel Studios’ #Eternals only in theaters NOW!
Get Tickets: https://t.co/zCpW4ecVMp pic.twitter.com/P51IbXdanT
— Eternals (@TheEternals) November 9, 2021
"Meet Karun. Check out his brand new character poster and see Karun in Marvel Studios’ #Eternals only in theaters NOW!" Tweeted the official page of The Eternals.
And well, Harish's co-star Kumail Nanjiani is said to be a big fan of the actor, so much so that he retweeted the picture and called Harish 'The Real Hero Of Eternals'.
The real hero of #Eternals. https://t.co/0nVEmtBMw4
— Kumail Nanjiani (@kumailn) November 9, 2021
In the film, Harish's character Karun is the assistant to Kumail's Bollywood superstar and Eternal, Kingo. It certainly is good news that Indian talent is finally getting recognition overseas and getting the opportunities that they actually deserve.
Before The Eternals, Harish has done a lot of work in Bollywood and featured in movies like Mandi (1983), Vivek (1985), Mr. India (1987), Billoo Badshah (1989), Tikdamdas, Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989), Police Public (1990), Thanedaar (1990), and Gunda (1998).

Is Intermittent Fasting good for weight loss?
This is a question that every person wanting to lose weight has asked, at least once.
Intermittent Fasting or IF is an extremely popular dieting strategy that millions of people swear by. It is a system of diet with two windows in a 24 hour period - a fasting window and a feeding window. One is supposed to eat everything that one is supposed to in a day during the feeding window, and remain in a fasted state for the entirety of the fasting window.
via GIPHY
The most popular ratio is the 16:8 ratio for a 24 hour period. Simply speaking, it means one has to remain in a fasted state for 16 hours in a day, and should eat everything in the remaining 8 hour window. There are other ratios too that one can formulate depending on what they think would work best.
via GIPHY
While a lot of people claim that intermittent fasting has worked for them like a magic spell when it comes to losing weight, science says it in fact, is not as effective as people think it is. Here are the 3 reasons why.
via GIPHY
1. Weight loss or gain happens because of calorie deficit or surplus. Meal timings have got nothing to do with it. While many claim that IF has helped them lose weight, they just think it has - while the real hero in the picture is the calorie deficit they have unknowingly adapted to.
via GIPHY
Sounds confusing? Let us simplify it. Suppose you have a huge, loaded pizza that is cut into 8 slices. Now, if you have all day to finish it, you probably will easily be able to devour it all by yourself even before dinner time. However, what if you only had 30 minutes to finish the entire thing? You won't even be able to finish 4-5 slices, even if you're ravenously hungry.
via GIPHY
The result? You ended up cutting down almost half the calories that you would have otherwise consumed, if you had all day. This is exactly what happens during Intermittent fasting. People think they are losing weight because of their meal timing, while they are actually losing weight because they have been consuming fewer calories.
2. It is possible to not lose any weight, or even gain weight while following Intermittent Fasting as a strategy.
via GIPHY
It is, unfortunately, very much possible my friend. Let us remind you that weight loss will only happen if you're going through a calorie deficit. When one is blindly following Intermittent fasting, they tend to ignore quantified nutrition, and usually labour under the misconception that just by perhaps following a 16:8 fasting-eating strategy, they would magically be able to lose weight. What if they are eating more than their TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) within that feeding window? They would end up gaining weight, plain and simple. Scary, right?
3. The strict feeding/fasting windows can make you hungrier and crankier than usual, thereby pushing you to eat more. It can simply be disastrous for emotional eaters - people who resort to food to cope with anxiety/stress/sadness.
via GIPHY
Since they are lulled under a false sense of security because of IF, they are likely to just ignore the calorific value of different food items and binge on calorie-dense food items without worrying about the repercussions.
via GIPHY
100 gm of peanuts contain almost the same amount of calories as 700 gm of potatoes. How difficult is it to eat 100 gm of peanuts? Not at all, right? You can just finish it in 5 minutes as a chakna.
via GIPHY
Now, imagine having high calorie snacks like this at your disposal during your feeding window, and consuming them under the pretext of having security only because you're following Intermittent Fasting. Still want to call it an effective strategy?
via GIPHY
What you're supposed to do is, quantify your daily nutrition. Find out your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), and eat fewer calories than that every day in order to lose weight. Usually a deficit of 200-300 calories works great to begin with. This, my friend, is the only way to ensure weight loss, irrespective of whether you're following Intermittent Fasting or not.
via GIPHY
Intermittent Fasting is neither a magic pill not a stupid fad, it's just a dieting strategy that needs to be followed if you think it works for you, after evaluating all the options while keeping quantified nutrition as the base. If you think it is for you, go ahead; if not, ditch it without any FOMO whatsoever. All the best!
