Many don’t believe in the traditions and rituals the older generation has been following for years now. One of these festivals or rather a ritual is Karva Chauth, where women fast all day for their husband’s long life and break it only when the moon rises.
All women, even the celebs, observe the fast every year. Does it actually save husbands from impending danger? According to actor Jeetandra, it does.

Jeetendra recalled how in 1976, he dodged death because his wife Shobha Kapoor was fasting for him and didn’t let him go. He narrated the surreal incident on an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show where he appeared with his daughter Ekta Kapoor.

He said that had to board a flight on the occasion of Karva Chauth while his wife Shobha, who was observing the fast, tried to persuade him to postpone his trip. However, the actor had to fly to Chennai due to prior commitments.

He reached the airport only to find the flight had been delayed.  He said, “Maine phir Shobha ko phone kiya ghar pe. Maine kaha flight delayed hai, abhi jaa rahi hai 8.30-9 baje. Chand nikal raha hai ki nahi nikal raha hai dekh lo, khatam kar lete hai kissa (I called Shobha up and informed her that my flight was delayed by around two hours. I told her I could be home for the moonrise so she could complete the Karwa Chauth ritual).”

He came home which was situated at Pali Hill, from where the Mumbai airport was visible. “Mere balcony se dekhta hoon ek aag ka gola aise aise jaa raha hai (From my balcony, I could see a ball of fire in the sky). It went towards the airport and (makes a crashing sound),” he said.

He was talking about the Indian Airlines Flight 171 crash that happened in 1976. The actor said that within a few hours his phone blew up with calls with dear ones asking for his well being. “My ticket is there, I am supposed to go, that flight crashed.” He also said that he lost one of his co-stars in the crash.

He credits his wife and the fast of Karva Chauth that day that he was alive. Whether we believe in the ritual or not, it did give us goosebumps thinking he nearly escaped death in a crash.

The only buzzwords in Bollywood is the rumoured wedding of actors and superstars Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal. The ‘rumoured’ couple has left eyeballs grazing all over the place as fans await them to seal the rumour with their own stamp of confirmation. The media is busy speculating that the couple is going to tie the knot next month in an intimate ceremony amidst loved ones at a beautiful palatial property near Ranthambore.

The latest piece of information that has come forward is that ahead of the much-awaited December wedding, the couple got ‘rokafied’ in a small ceremony in the presence of their family members. According to an India Today report, the roka ceremony was held at Ek Tha Tiger director, Kabir Khan and Mini Mathur’s residence. He is extremely close to Katrina and she considers him as a Rakhi brother as well. The reports quote a source who claims “It was a beautiful roka. There were lights and decorations and Katrina looked stunning in her lehenga. Since the Diwali dates were auspicious, the families decided to go ahead with the ceremony. Kabir and Mini are almost like family to Katrina and they were the most gracious hosts.” The ceremony had Vicky’s parents and his brother, and Katrina’s mother and her sister Isabella.

While no wedding invites have gone out and both the actors continue denying these claims, there’s an army of fans who are rooting for this union to happen and are waiting for the rumours to be true. Well, only time will tell. Katrina is currently shooting for the third movie in the Ek Tha Tiger series whereas Vicky Kaushal is busy with the Sam Maneckshaw biopic.

I’ve always believed that all of us have both a good and a bad side to us.
And while most of us spend our lives trying to thrive on our better side, there are times, and inadvertently people, who bring out the worst in us.

Whether it is a boss, a parent, a friend or even a partner, there are times when we often find ourselves in the middle of a discussion that quickly escalates into a screaming match, and before we know it, we have in our hands a full-blown fight.
But that isn’t the worst part.
What’s worse is what comes next - the deafening silence and not knowing what to do next.
Since quite a lot of us struggle with breaking the ice after an ugly argument, here are a few text ideas that might help you navigate through that tough spot:
    1) When You Feel Remorseful © iStock
Anger is an all-consuming emotion, one that washes all over you and often makes you say/do things you later regret.

Which is why, when you feel remorseful or guilty after an argument for overstepping or perhaps saying something nasty, try to lead with something like, “I wanted to apologise for my behaviour and regret it deeply...”
While it may or may not be enough, it most definitely will lay out your intentions of not wanting to hurt the other person deliberately. And that is a great start.
    2) When You Feel Overlooked © iStock
The thing about a verbal fight is that it can spiral out of control at any given point, and sometimes that might make you feel unheard.

So, during times when you feel neglected and your feelings don’t get acknowledged, you can simply write, “After giving our conversation a lot of thought, I feel you did not understand the point I was trying to make..”
    3) When You Feel You’re Not Ready To Let Go © iStock
Sometimes, despite having had a squabble, one tends to feel there is still a little bit of a fight left in them, which makes them not want to let go just yet.

In those cases, it is best to text the person saying, “I don’t feel that I’m ready to have a productive conversation about how to move forward.”
Telling them you’ll come around when you feel calmer and simply need some time to cool off is always better than diving headfirst into yet another argument.
    4) When You Feel Hurt © iStock
‘Words are mightier than a sword’, and at times even more hurtful.

In a fit of rage or frustration, it is possible that you find yourself at the receiving end of a lot of harsh words that you can’t get over.
When that happens, rather than bottling those emotions, be upfront and text, “I feel extremely hurt by what you said..” so that the other person knows what is going on, instead of you waiting around for them to figure it out.
Chances are, pointing it out in a polite and dignified manner, might just help you get your point across after all.
    5) When You Want To Make Up © iStock
After all is said and done, there comes a point when you don’t want to pursue the quarrel anymore and simply move on.

When that’s the case, the best plan of action is to suggest putting an end to the fight and writing something like, “I hate that we’re fighting. Let’s try to find a middle ground and end this here.”
At the end of the day, what matters most is not winning the argument but arriving at a solution where both sides are heard and acknowledged.
