Michael Vaughan was recently suspended on a temporary basis by the BBC from the Radio 5 live’s Tuffers and Vaughan Show on Monday after facing allegations of making racist comments while playing for Yorkshire in 2009.
According to The Guardian, Vaughan has been accused of telling three Asian cricketers that there were “too many of you lot, we need to do something about it” ahead of a county cricket match against Nottingham.
The former England skipper has “completely and categorically” denied saying those words to the Asian cricketers in his Daily Telegraph column, although agreeing to have his name being mentioned in the racism case of the Azeem Rafiq report.
EXC: Michael Vaughan accused of “denying the truth” by former Yorkshire team-mate Rana Naved, he asks: “Why is he denying Rafiq’s claims?” and says there are “lots of racists at Yorkshire”

"The night before I was due to give evidence, out of the blue, I was hit with the news that Rafiq was alleging that in 2009, when I was still a player and before a Yorkshire match against Nottinghamshire, I had said to Rafiq and two other Asian players as we walked onto the field together that there are "too many of you lot, we need to do something about it.
"This hit me very hard. It was like being struck over the head with a brick. I have been involved in cricket for 30 years and never once been accused of any remotely similar incident or disciplinary offence as a player or commentator. That the allegation came completely out of the blue and more than a decade after it was alleged to have happened made it all the more difficult to process.

Upon reading his comments, yet another Asian-origin player from Yorkshire, this time the former Pakistan all-rounder Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, has challenged Vaughan’s statement, while suggesting that he too had heard what the Englishman had said.
"I am very surprised to hear that Michael Vaughan, who is a big name player, is denying what he said. I was witness to it and the other 4-5 Asian players who were playing must have also heard it and should be asked about it," Rana Naved-ul-Hasan said.

As the investigation grows deeper, more and more instances of Vaughan’s questionable behaviour are coming forward. Some of his old tweets in which he had said “YES” to the suggestion of Moeen Ali going around asking Muslims if they are terrorists, have also reappeared on the internet after Vaughan had deleted it from his profile.

Ravichandran Ashwin has always been a top choice for the Indian cricket team when it comes to Test cricket but when his name was mentioned in the squad ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021, not a lot of happy faces could be seen around this news.
For the first couple of matches of the tournament, the all-rounder was nowhere to be found, despite the Dubai pitches favouring the spinners and India falling short of an additional decent bowler to keep the middle overs in check.

Nonetheless, the 35-year old finally got to show off his skills in an extremely important, must-win match for the Men in Blue when he was picked in the Playing Xi against Afghanistan. In the four overs that he got in his quota, the off-spinner leaked just 14 runs while picking two significant wickets in Afghan hitters Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran.
He proved to be a little more expensive against Scotland, as he was knocked for 29 runs in four overs but also took a wicket to end his night on a high.

His first stint in white-ball cricket had ended in 2017 and there was little to no chance for him to make it back to the blue-kit teams. However, it was the success of his countless variations in the Indian Premier League since then that allowed him a ticket into this roster, as suggested by his skipper, Virat Kohli.
After proving his worth and justifying his spot in the team, Ashwin responded to these critics ahead of India’s win over Scotland.

"For a lot of people who are giving expert opinions on the game, I sometimes feel sorry for them. I have been playing this format since 2007-8, and every two years, the game leaves our realms and it teaches us something because the game is so fast-paced. I feel the understanding of the game is still backward in so many ways. For me when you say a bowler has to pick wickets, for fast bowlers there are different plans and for spinners, there are different plans," he said.

"There are different lengths that you cannot afford to bowl as you do in a Test match. Wicket-taking is not something that just happens. Experts say that the game is about partnerships. Every time a bowler is picking wickets, there is an over that was bowled well before. I think I expect too much from the people who watch the game. This is how I play the game and in the process if I keep taking wickets, I do that. 24 events are there when I bowl and I take them very seriously," he added.

People were promised to be served with a typical Bollywood masala movie on the screens when the trailer of the much-awaited movie Sooryavanshi was dropped on March 2. It’s after a long wait of 19 months that viewers got to watch a typical Rohit Shetty action movie on the screens. Rohit managed to pique the curiosity of the viewers as he got actors like Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar in one frame.
View this post on Instagram
While going through the reviews by critics, we realized that it’s not a movie that all would appreciate as the director has infused the 'bad Muslims vs Indian Muslims' angle in the movie and has tried to make it jingoistic.
Quint’s film critic Stutee Ghosh writes, “The desh ke dushman theme is painstakingly interwoven with the 'Good Muslim-Bad Muslim' philosophy that Sooryavanshi vehemently endorses. Watching a movie in the theatre is pure joy for film aficionados. How wonderful it would have been if Sooryavanshi lived up to its hype.”
NDTV’s Saibal Chatterjee wrote, “Sooryavanshi is far less thunderous than Singham. It plays out more like regular police procedural than a crusading cop-fighting-a-corrupt-system drama.” There were some reviewers that did say that the movie did give the big screens vibe and said the movie might revive Bollywood from the losses it incurred these months.
Here’s the trailer:
Well, the common emotion of all the critics was that the movie didn’t live up to its hype. The viewers are of the same opinion and aren’t very pleased by the movie. Obviously, fans did praise the movie but viewers didn’t approve of it. One of the Twitter users wrote that the movie is one of the worst presentations in Rohit’s career as a filmmaker. Another said that it’s completely bogus and not worthy of people’s money. One of the users pointed out that the movie is a waste of time as it has no storyline and the desperate attempt at showing secularism makes it worse.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that former Indian cricketer, captain and National Cricket Academy head, Rahul Dravid was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. According to the reports, ‘The Wall’ will be taking over the role while replacing Ravi Shastri as soon as the T20 World Cup 2021 concludes.
Dravid’s first assignment as the head of the coaching staff would be the bilateral series between India and New Zealand on home turn when the Black Caps visit us for three T20Is and two Test matches.

While most of the fans are overjoyed with the fact that Dravid has finally agreed to become the head coach, and that there is little to no doubt that the team will flourish under his command, a former Indian cricketer has raised an important point.
Ajay Jadeja has asked whether the head coach or the selectors would hold the power to appoint the next captain of the squad in the shortest format of the game as Virat Kohli will be stepping down from the role in order to focus on his duties as a batter and also to manage his workload.
View this post on Instagram
“If there’s a role model of discipline and dedication, it’s Rahul Dravid. You want a lot of things from a coach, but discipline and dedication are probably the two prime things. It will be interesting to see who will make the next T20 captain - Rahul Dravid or [the selectors]. There’s no doubt in his praise but when someone becomes an Indian coach, if you don’t let him work or don’t use his vision then it’s all redundant, anyone can be a coach in that way,” Jadeja told Cricbuzz.
“So, if you have brought Rahul Dravid, the biggest name, then at least go with his vision. This is my request to the board… If a man like Rahul Dravid has joined then please, please move alongside his vision, understanding and dedication, don’t tell him how to run the team,” he added.

Dravid has done a phenomenal job improving the quality of young cricketers that the senior Indian side has had the privilege of picking players out of in times of extreme urgency. He was a great coach for the India A and the U-19 teams and worked hard on making the NCA a respectable institution once again. Hence, the former cricketer deserves all the authority that he needs to work his magic with the senior side as well.

Being a celebrity has its perks and perils. They get immense love from their fans on one hand, while on the other hand, they are mercilessly trolled by the public for trivial things, even when they are right.
Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor recently became the target of trolls on Twitter for doling out an advice on the festival of Diwali.

He slammed people who burst firecrackers, saying that it is bad for the environment, scares his pets and makes everyone uncomfortable at home. He advised people to not do it. He took to Twitter to express his views about bursting crackers on Diwali and spread a message to his fans and followers. However, it somehow backfired.

“People still bursting firecrackers all over the place..my pets are scared it’s uncomfortable for everyone at home and really bad for the environment in more ways then one.. I’ve never been a prisoner for cultural preses for these reasons common sense has to prevail sometimes [sic],” he wrote.

A few people on social media dug up an old photo where the actor’s father Anil Kapoor was bursting firecracker with her sister Sonam Kapoor and him standing at the back and watching.
A user asked him sarcastically if the crackers being burst in this photo were eco-friendly.
Dear @HarshKapoor_ ji, I am sure these crackers on ur sister wedding were ecofriendly, imported frm States, and all birds & dogs in ur home and neighbourhood were supplied with airpods well before d event. https://t.co/QaxV4hlPWW pic.twitter.com/JgY6c2PV9u

“Dear @HarshKapoor_ ji, I am sure these crackers on ur sister wedding were ecofriendly, imported frm States, and all birds & dogs in ur home and neighbourhood were supplied with airpods well before d event,” he wrote. Someone posted another photo from the same day and commented, “Pets were in Paris then..”

The photo was from Sonam Kapoor’s wedding in 2018. Although Harsh Varrdhan deleted his tweet, he did hit back at the trolls. He shut them by telling them it’s an old photo and people evolve with time. He replied, “Recently bro, open to change, are you? Yeah didn’t think so.”

All he was trying to do was tell people to be a bit considerate about animals and the environment on Diwali by not bursting firecrackers all night. People who have pets or wake up to a smoggy morning the day after would agree with his advice.
However, trolls called him out for hypocrisy. He didn’t deny doing it in the past but at least he learned with time.
