There is an old saying that goes, ‘where there is fire, there is smoke’.
If I were to tweak it a little, I’d probably change it to - 'where there is fire, there is Kangana Ranaut' because only seldom does it happen that there is a raging issue going on in the country without the Manikarnika actress pitching in her feisty two cents.
The National Award-winning actress gave a rather strong reaction to all the people who are demanding a ban on firecrackers with Diwali tomorrow.
Kangana Ranaut takes a dig at activist demanding ban on firecrackers: Walk to your office, don’t use car https://t.co/tSywBFPlo4
— sanjeev rana (@sanjeevrana02) November 3, 2021
Since Diwali is almost here, one major concern is the growing levels of pollution in the country due to the careless and incessant burning of firecrackers.
Not paying heed to the gravity and severity of the situation, where we’re already struggling with high levels of pollution, a lot of people decided to ask for a ban on crackers to avoid the situation getting worse.
However, what they did not anticipate was actress Kangana Ranaut’s subtle dig at them as she quite literally asked them to ‘walk the talk’, by walking to their offices instead of taking a car along.
© Instagram
This row was sparked after Kangana Ranaut shared a video on her Instagram stories where Sadhguru can be heard sharing his childhood memories of Diwali.
He goes on to talk about how he is looking forward to lighting firecrackers months before Diwali and would save some for later as well.
The Thalaivi actress commented on the video on her Insta story as she wrote, “He is the man who caused world record of green cover by planting millions of trees.” Further to this, she added, “Perfect answer to all Diwali environment activists walk to your office don't use cars for three days," to nullify the effect of bursting crackers. Because that is clearly more realistic...
If she keeps saying these irrational things, she will end up winning many more National Awards.https://t.co/voVERnp2bS
— Sarim Naved (@SarimNaved) November 3, 2021
Her reaction has come hours after filmmaker Rhea Kapoor openly dismissed the use of firecrackers and wrote, “Bursting crackers is not only dated but grossly ignorant, inconsiderate and irresponsible. Stop doing it, it’s so 19-never."
Earlier, states and union territories issued directives restricting the use of firecrackers in accordance with Supreme Court (SC) orders.
The apex court said on 29 October, that celebrations cannot be at the cost of citizens' health. It further clarified that there is no complete ban on firecrackers and only those which contain barium salts were prohibited.

Batting Legend Sunil Gavaskar came hard at Virat Kohli and Indian team management for dropping regular opener Rohit Sharma down the order against New Zealand in a crucial encounter of the T20 World Cup.
After India suffered yet another humiliating eight-wicket defeat against the Black Caps in their second group match, the ‘Little Master’ blamed the Indian skipper’s defensive approach for India’s downfall.
© Twitter/IPL
While many other pundits questioned Kohli for changing the batting order, Gavaskar was more scatchic in his criticism. He blamed the 32-year-old cricketer for killing Rohit’s confidence even before he entered the match.
Sunil Gavaskar said Rohit Sharma's demotion indicates team didn't trust him to face Trent Boult. (To India Today).
— Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) November 1, 2021 The batting legend claimed that by making such a unilateral decision, Kohli had indirectly told Rohit that he doesn’t trust his ability to tackle the in-swinging deliveries of a left-arm pacer up front.
Sunil Gavaskar said Rohit Sharma's demotion indicates team didn't trust him to face Trent Boult. (To India Today).
— Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) November 1, 2021 “I don't know if it is a fear of failure but I know that whatever changes they made to the batting order today did not work. Ishan Kishan is a hit-or-miss player and it is better if a batsman like him walks in No.4 or No.5. He could then play according to the situation of the game,” Gavaskar said on Aaj Tak.
“Now what has happened is that Rohit Sharma has been told that we don't trust you to face the left-arm fast bowling of Trent Boult,” he explained.
Nobody knew who exactly made the decision -- whether it was skipper Virat Kohli or the head coach Ravi Shastri or the mentor MS Dhoni. But still everyone assumed that the decision would have come from the leader of the group and blamed him after the loss.
© Twitter/ICC
Putting all these speculations to rest, India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour has explained whose decision exactly it was to send Ishan Kishan to open the innings and demote Rohit to number three position.
Speaking at the pre-match press-conference on the eve of India’s third group game against Afghanistan, Rathour revealed that not just Kohli but the whole management group, which obviously included vice-captain Rohit Sharma, took the decision based on a couple of reasons.
© Twitterd/BCCL
Firstly, they wanted to have a left-right combination at the top of the order and secondly they wanted to allow Kishan the freedom to play his shots inside the powerplay like he did for Mumbai Indians in the last two IPL games and the warm-up match against England.
© Reuters
“As far as who took that call, it's the whole management that sits and takes that call and, of course, Rohit himself is a part of that management. He was part of that discussion,” Rathour said during the pre-match presser.
“It tactically made sense to have a left-hander up front, we didn't want too many lefties in the lower middle-order with Ishan, Pant, Jadeja. So technically, it made sense and that guy has batted well,” he explained.
© Reuters
Just because Kohli is the leader of the group doesn’t mean he can make the decisions unilaterally. Even he has to follow a set protocol, which includes discussing the issue with the leadership group and taking them into confidence before coming to a conclusion.
Social media trolls who have little to no knowledge of cricket when they target Kohli it’s down to their lack of understanding of the sport but when greats like Gavaskar take out their sword without knowing the complete truth and try to create a rift between two star players, it’s painful to see.
Many times Sunil Gavaskar makes a comment which lets us to presume that he has lost all his understanding of the game.
— Footy Animesh (@AnimeshFooty) November 1, 2021Don't think that was the issue..maybe they wanted Ishan to attack and get some extra runs in the powerplay and also left right combination
— sindhu paramesh (@sindhu_paramesh) November 1, 2021Lol! Sharma was demoted because of inclusion of Ishan!
Ishan is effective only if he openes thats why some one had to give up opening posn. And Sharma did that being a senior. It's shocking that Gavaskar being a cricketer couldn't understand.
— Rohit (@Rohit97102675) November 1, 2021Aa gaye bhai aag lagane wale!
— Ranju Roy (@ranjuroy13) November 1, 2021Kick this Gavaskar , creating even more rift between teh so called fan club in india
— Camlin Oil pastels (@Crayon172) November 1, 2021 Rather than fuelling the fire, as a respected name in the cricket fraternity it’s his responsibility to help people think about the game in a more rational manner and not get carried away by their emotions but sadly, he hasn’t done that so far.

We live in a democracy and secular nation with many languages which form the fulcrum of the melting pot of India’s culture. While the barriers of language are going down in terms of cinematic experiences courtesy the OTT world, sometimes a few things can be lost in translation.
Recently a clip from a Tamil movie titled Jai Bhim started doing the rounds on social media. The scene shows actor Prakash Raj slapping a man who is speaking in Hindi and instructs him to talk in Tamil. The scene has now gone viral and people are questioning the intent and it has caused a lot of fury.
I am really heartbroken after watching #JaiBhim, nothing against actor or anyone but felt really bad, there is a scene in the film where a person speaks Hindi and Prakash Raj slaps him and tells him to speak in Tamil
Honestly this kind of scene was not needed….Hope they cut it
— Rohit Jaiswal (@rohitjswl01) November 1, 2021I am really heartbroken after watching #JaiBhim, nothing against actor or anyone but felt really bad, there is a scene in the film where a person speaks Hindi and Prakash Raj slaps him and tells him to speak in Tamil

— Rohit Jaiswal (@rohitjswl01) November 1, 2021 Many people questioned the intent in terms of why a man was slapping someone for speaking in Hindi.
Slaps a man for speaking Hindi ?!
What culture is this man portraying in the movie ?!
We speak 22 different languages with English & Hindi as official languages .
Are we going to slap each other over language?
Shollunge !! https://t.co/lVkn1b3NZN
— Capt Harish Pillay (@captpillay) November 2, 2021 However, on the other side, some viewers tried to clear the air around the meaning behind the scene and how it was not ‘anti-Hindi’.
I think Prakash Raj is acting a role of Linguistic fanatic ,which is a reality in a Southern State as well as some Hindi speaking states. https://t.co/pwXHSKwwfG

— Rohit Jaiswal (@rohitjswl01) November 1, 2021 Another angle that came up was that of a scene from Scam 1992 which was accused of fuelling anti-Tamil sentiments.
#JaiBhim So hindians Advising that prakash raj slapping scene was unnecessary...Fine..so what abt this scene in scam 1992...Spewing Hate on Tamil using a Tamil character so that it doesn't look its against Tamil..How cheap...so keep this as a counter for that scene. #hindi #Tamil pic.twitter.com/0tZY2sqGuC
— MohammedTanveer (@Tanveer27101995) November 2, 2021 Jai Bhim is a courtroom drama starring Prakash Raj based on the life of advocate Chandru , who inspired it. While if one only focuses on the scene, it can create a lot of confusion to the average viewer, but if you understand the meaning, you’d see that Prkash Raj is only essaying the character of a linguistic fanatic.

Like an annual occasion that can actually be marked in the Indian calendar now, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his birthday on Tuesday (November 2). The Badshah of Bollywood turned 56 and saw an army of fans parade outside his house to catch a glimpse of the star.

Shah Rukh Khan has had a month to forget after his eldest son Aryan Khan was arrested in connection with the cruise ship drug case by the NCB.
However, things looked on the way up after he got his birthday gift a wee bit early when Aryan was finally released on bail by the Bombay High Court. Now, having kept low key on his birthday, SRK was given something positive to think about after Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on Earth, honored the star by displaying a message for him on the building.

— Mohamed Alabbar محمد العبار (@mohamed_alabbar) November 2, 2021
The iconic skyscraper was lit up with an image of King Khan with a couple of messages that read, “Happy Birthday SRK. We Love You”
Soon after, a video of the beautifully lit building was shared on Twitter with 'Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam', the very popular song from Shah Rukh's blockbuster film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge running in the background.
Fans too were left impressed by Dubai's love for SRK and expressed their reactions on Twitter.
People share their stories & write an essay about SRK, Fans stands outside Mannat for hours, Celebrities & Verified accounts spill their hearts out and Burj Khalifa displays his name.
There has not been the biggest & impactful Star like him ever. Legend & Last of Stars @iamsrk!!

— anwer hashim (@anwerhashim) November 3, 2021 This mark of respect has not been put out for the world to see for the first time. In fact, it is the third time that the building has decided to honour Shah Rukh Khan, who almost has a legendary status in Dubai, where he also has a beautiful property of his own.
In 2020, on his last birthday, Shah Rukh celebrated his day in Dubai and also clicked a photo of him with the Burj Khalifa in the background wishing him a birthday. While he has naturally kept mum this year because of the whole Aryan Khan controversy, last year, he took to his Instagram account to share the message, “Being my own guest in Dubai... my kids mighty impressed and I is loving it!”

While things were quite gloomy at Mannat despite fans lining up outside his home, it was later reported that the actor had actually taken off to his Alibaug bungalow with his family for the birthday. This was the reason why he didn't step out of his Mannat home like always to greet the fans.

One of the favourites to win the tournament, the Indian cricket team is on the verge of making a group-stage exit. A team that looked almost unstoppable in the two warm-up games, beating the likes of England and Australia quite convincingly, has looked a shadow of themselves ever since the actual tournament began.
Forget winning, they have failed to compete. And all this has led to fans and critics taking their swords out and targeting the players left, right, and centre. While some are blaming Indian players’ overpacked schedule for their burnout, others are accusing them of not taking international cricket seriously.
New Zealand win the game, but #TeamIndia will look to make amends in their next match of the #T20WorldCup. #INDvNZ

— BCCI (@BCCI) October 31, 2021
Reacting to Virat Kohli and his side’s disappointing performance in the first two matches, former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram claimed that it was a result of players not taking “international series seriously”.
The legendary pacer argued that India players thought that playing IPL would be enough for them but they were hugely mistaken in comparing a domestic league with international cricket and are paying the price in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
“India last played a limited-overs series with all the senior players in March. Now we are in November. So that shows they are not taking those international series seriously. They think playing the IPL is enough,” Akram said on A Sports’ YouTube channel.
“You play as much league cricket in the world that you want. While playing league cricket, you will find one or two good bowlers in the opposition. In international cricket, you will face all five good bowlers,” he added.
© Twitter/ICC
The last time the senior India players played a limited-overs series was way back in March when they hosted England. After that, a B-string side, full of youngsters, did go to Sri Lanka in July for a white-ball series but many of the first-team players were missing from the squad because they were busy playing Test cricket in England.
There’s no denying the fact that no matter how well players perform in domestic leagues, they still need time to gel together and get used to their new role in the side, which might be totally different from the role and responsibility that they fulfilled while playing franchise cricket.
© Twitter/ICC
Everyone thought that having spent a considerable amount of playing in the UAE before the 2021 T20 World Cup would work in India's favour but looking at the way they have performed thus far, it’s hard to say it benefited or harmed them.
Having said that, IPL alone can’t be blamed for Team India’s poor performance because there were several international cricketers like Trent Boult and Kane Williamson who played in the IPL but still brought their A game into the World Cup.
Talk about getting into the groove @imVkohli | @ImRo45 #TeamIndia #T20WorldCup #INDvAFG pic.twitter.com/utXY9tSOKE
— BCCI (@BCCI) November 3, 2021
But there’s a lesson to be learnt from all of this. Going forward, the BCCI must ensure that it allows the players to play enough matches together before heading into any big tournament .

A couple of weeks ago, Indian cricketer, Mohammed Shami was abused on the basis of his religion on social media after being the one to give away the winning runs to Pakistan in their first-ever World Cup win over India.
Many blamed ‘Pakistani bot accounts’ for the message and the attempt to spread communal hate within India. Some even went on to slam the Indian cricket board, BCCI, for sharing a post in favour of the India-Muslim pacer just a day after the loss to the arch-rivals.

But limits were crossed when a Twitter user decided to give rape threats to the Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s 10-month old daughter Vamika after he decided to speak in favour of his teammate and called the social media haters a bunch of “spineless people”.
Once again it’s a Pakistani bot…. https://t.co/a3iickCCcT pic.twitter.com/SMrpxTx5KP

And once again, this Twitter user Amena (@criccrazyygirl), was presumed to be a Pakistani bot trying to spread hate in India, before the tweet was deleted, and the account was suspended.
However, new reports have suggested that the location from where the account was created has finally been disclosed and that it was not Pakistan, but within India, that origin of this tweet was traced back to.
According to The News Minute, the unique Twitter ID number for this account, which remains the same regardless of how many times the user changed its username, is “1386685474182369290”. The publication investigated some of the previous tweets and retweets shared by this account and some of the other accounts it was redirecting towards and concluded that all the activities suggested that it was created within India. Check out the complete breakdown of their investigative process.
Twitter user Mohammed Zubair, who is also the co-founder of Alt News, also shared a Twitter thread explaining how he reached the assessment that the creator of the Twitter account Amena (@criccrazyygirl) was not created anywhere else in the world but in Hyderabad itself.
Lol nice try to distance yourself. The account @Criccrazyygirl is not from Pakistan but a Right Wing troll from Hyderabad. His earlier accounts were : @Criccrazyygirl, @ramanheist & @pellikuturuhere.

Virat Kohli is yet to make an appearance in front of the media ever since his post-match comments about the lack of intent and courage with which India had faced New Zealand in their most recent loss at the T20 World Cup. He had also skipped the post-match conference and had sent Jasprit Bumrah to face the heat, which didn’t help his case as the leader of the Indian cricket team either.

There have been days when I have wondered to myself, what it would really be like to be a celebrity.
The fame, the money, the luxury, everything is too enticing to not at least wonder. And while that star status is seductive and lucrative in its own way, it comes at a cost.
Being in the limelight also means being in the direct sight of trolls who will come at you for anything and everything that you do, just like with actress Sara Ali Khan who is being brutally trolled right now for visiting a temple.
View this post on Instagram
The Simmba actress, who made her debut in the Bollywood industry in 2018 with the hit film Kedarnath alongside late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, made a trip to the pilgrimage centre recently with her good friend Janhvi Kapoor.
The two actresses had been posting snaps of sipping chai in the small town of Kedarnath and also made their way to the famous temple, considering it holds a special place in the actress’s heart.
However, a simple and devoted visit to the temple was taken completely out of context by trolls who made the entire debacle about religion and shallow-mindedness.
© Instagram
Within hours, pictures of Sara and Janhvi visiting the Kedarnath Temple went viral, and as did horrible and insensitive tweets that called her out for ‘bringing disgrace to Muslims’ by her visit.
Muslim trolls abuses actor Sara Ali Khan since she visited a Hindu temple
What a madness pic.twitter.com/YgJE6gCZSa
— Priya Kulkarni (@priyaakulkarni2) November 2, 2021
The actress posted her picture with a caption that read, “Back to where it all began. #JaiBholenath #grateful #blessed,” and several people, including some from the Muslim community, thrashed her online for several reasons, some by even calling her visit to a temple and praying to the shrine as a ‘sin of idolatry’.
© Instagram
At the same time, several fans of Sara Ali Khan have also come together to give it right back to the trolls in the comment section by having the young actress’s back.
And this isn’t the first time trolls have attacked celebrities for their personal choices either, as there have been times when actor Shah Rukh Khan or even former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif found themselves under the fire for no apparent reason other than ticking a few closed-minded people off.
