Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar keeps finding ways to make the headlines. Sometimes he hogs the attention through his comments and sometimes through his actions.

The latest controversy that the Rawalpindi Express has found himself embroiled in occurred on live television, in front of legends of the game like Viv Richards, David Gower, among others.

Akhtar was present as a part of the expert panel to reflect on the Pakistan vs New Zealand match which the former won by five wickets. However, the discussion turned into quite a mess as the former Pak pacer walked out of the show while blaming the anchor for insulting him.

The video of this incident has gone viral on social media which shows the broadcaster telling Akhtar that he was acting “oversmart” and if he wanted to misbehave like that he could very well leave.
“You're being a little rude and I don't want to say this, but if you're being over smart, you can go. I am saying this on air,” the host said.

Sensing the things getting out of control, the anchor announced for a commercial break but it didn't calm things down between the two. After the break, it boiled down to a whole new level.

Akhtar asked the anchor to apologise to him but he refused and the former cricketer removed his mic and announced his resignation from the channel.

“My apologies for this but I am resigning immediately from PTV sports as I have been insulted and treated badly on live television in front of the nation,” he said.

Explaining the rationale as to why he took such an extreme step, Akhtar put out a couple of tweets, wherein he blamed the host for insulting a “national star” like him in front of the whole nation.
Multiple clips are circulating on social media so I thought I shud clarify.dr noman was abnoxious and rude wen he asked me to leave the show,it was embarrassing specially wen u have legends like sir Vivian Richards and David gower sitting on the set with some of my contemporaries

I tried to save everyone from embarrassment by saying I was pulling dr nomans leg with this mutual understanding that dr noman will also politely apologise and we will move on with the show ,which he refused to do. Then I had no other choice .

He even put out a video on his Twitter account explaining how, despite being insulted on LIve TV, he put his ego aside and tried to do damage control in order to save the whole nation from getting embarrassed in front of the whole world.

It all began when the presenter asked Akhtar his opinion on whether Pakistani batters made the mess of the small run chase. The pacer disagreed with him and instead of answering the question started praising Haris Rauf for his Man of the Match performance.
While the Babar Azam-led side is doing everything to change a narrative about the Pakistan cricket team, the off-field incidents in the last couple of days have somewhat jeopardised all their hard work and left the whole country embarrassed.
