If there’s anything that is remotely better in the 2000s than in the 90s (I said remotely), it is Bollywood and its movies. That era was golden for Hindi cinema and 90s kids will agree that films in that decade were class apart.Β
Whether it was romcoms like Kal Ho Na Ho or comedy horror like Bhool Bhulaiyya, Bollywood experimented with stories and concepts a lot. It was also the time when it produced a number of con moviesΒ (a genre we didn’t know we needed), and they are brilliantly β€˜shaatir’.Β

Since the trailer of Bunty Aur Babli 2Β released a few days ago, the nostalgia-struck fans can’t help but wonder two things. First, why is Abhishek Bachchan not in the film? And the other is why has Bollywood stopped making amazing and intelligent con movies after 2010?Β

    Β© Yash Raj Films
Well, this reminds us of all the best and most cunning movies based on con men and con artists that Bollywood has probably stopped making now.

    1. Bunty Aur Babli Β© Yash Raj Films
It would be unfair to not start the list with the OG con movie of Bollywood that had the right proportion of everything from thrill, comedy, romance and good music all of us danced to as kids. Rani and Abhishek made for the perfect partners-in-crime who con the rich. We can’t wait for the sequel.Β Β

    2. Khosla Ka Ghosla Β© Taandav Films
This is a hilarious story of how a middle-class man acquires his own land by pulling off a con and deceiving the person who encroached his plot. How this relatable desi family resorts to crime and brilliantly scams Khurana (Boman Irani) is what makes it a laughing riot.Β  Β

From the directors of Khosla Ka Ghosla, this is also one masterpiece that is quite underrated in the con movies bandwagon. Based on a real-life thief β€˜super chor’ Devinder Singh aka Bunty from Delhi, Abhay Doel portrays Lucky who robs for fun.Β Β

    4. Dhoom Series Β© Yash Raj Films
While the third installment starring Aamir Khan was not up to the mark, the previous two parts starring John Abraham and Hritik Roshan are pure classics. Especially Dhoom 2, where a perfectionist thief disguises and steals the rare artifacts and leaves a signature β€˜A’ in the crime scene.

Aryan KhanΒ was detained by the NCB in connection with the possession of drugs at a cruise raid and has been in Arthur Road Jail since October 7. He has been denied bail four times even though nothing has been proved against the star kid yet.Β Β

The former attorney general of India, Mukul Rohatgi, has now stepped in to represent Khan in the Bombay High Court. Arguing before Justice Nitin Sambre in the Bombay High court, Rohatgi said Aryan didn’t possess any drugs. β€œNo recovery, no consumption, I submit I am wrongly arrested," the former AG said. He added, β€œPenalty is for consumption or carrying it. I don't have it, possession of somebody else can't be my possession. Unless it is in my knowledge.”

He made strong arguments in the court like how WhatsApp chats do not prove the conspiracy against him. He also highlighted how Khan was in a country like the US, where cannabis is legal. He has been trending since yesterday and here’s all we know about Mukul Rohatgi.Β
    1. He is the 14th Attorney General of India who was succeeded by KK Venugopal.Β
    2. He is a senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India.Β
    3. He held the post of the Attorney General of India for three years from 2014 to 2017.Β
    4. Rohatgi has represented several high-profile cases. He has also represented the 2002 Gujarat riots case where he appeared before the court for the government of Gujarat.Β

After facing social media backlash for his provocative religion-based statement, former Pakistan bowling legend Waqar Younis has finally issued an apology and tried to defend himself by saying that he didn’t mean to say those words and it came out of his mouth in the β€œheat of the moment”.
In the heat of the moment, I said something which I did not mean which has hurt the sentiments of many. I apologise for this, this was not intended at all, genuine mistake. Sports unites people regardless of race, colour or religion. #apologies
    β€” Waqar Younis (@waqyounis99) October 26, 2021
β€œIn the heat of the moment, I said something which I did not mean which has hurt the sentiments of many. I apologise for this, this was not intended at all, genuine mistake. Sports unites people regardless of race, colour or religion,” the 49-year-old former pacer tweeted.
"Rizwan offered Namaz during #INDvPAK match in middle of Hindus was most satisfying thing Mashallah, even more than his batting"

    - Waqar Younis & Shoaib Akhtar discusspic.twitter.com/ELTVJSTqh4
    β€” Pakistan Untold (@pakistan_untold) October 26, 2021
β€œThe most beautiful thing that Rizwan did was he offered Namaz in the ground itself in front of Hindus. For me that was the most satisfying thing, Mashallah, that was really something very, very special for me,” Younis had said during a discussion on ARY News.
First of all, Mr Younis, you are not a teenager who needs to be taught what to say and when to say. Instead of acknowledging his mistake and offering a genuine apology, the fact that he was trying to defend himself shows that this apology didn’t come straight from his heart but was a result of all the criticism that he faced on social media.
    Β© Twitter ICC
His hateful remark came on Sunday while discussing Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 World Cup opener but it took him more than 48 hours to reflect on his mistake and offer an apology.

This clearly shows that he was not really ashamed of his comments otherwise he wouldn’t have taken so long to apologise. The worst part is that after making himself look like a fool, he thinks we also fall in the same category and have no brain of our own.
    Β© Reuters
Apart from his public apology on the micro-blogging site, Younis also apologised on Live TV but if you hear that statement, you would realise that his apology was nothing but a damage control and he actually believed that Indian fans and media made a mountain of a molehill.

β€œA Lot of hype has been created around it. My intentions were not to hurt anyone. I always keep myself from commenting on religious matters. I was all excited that Pakistan won the match and in that excitement I saw Rizwan praying so in the moment I probably used words that could have hurt someone’s sentiments. I apologise if anyone felt uncomfortable because of me. I Never meant it. It was the game and it was the heat of the moment,” Younis said on ASportsΒ  YouTube channel.
β€œI also wanted to say that the fact that Pakistan won the match, my words were hyped even more because they couldn’t find any other reason,” he added.
Keep believing in these STARS ️.

After listening to this statement, it’s not hard to understand that he knew exactly what he was saying and meant every single word and whatever came out of his mouth was on purpose. Otherwise he wouldn’t have shamelessly tried to defend himself, saying it was not a big issue. The way he blamed the Indian fans and media for hyping the issue in order to get over the defeat reeks of his gross mentality.
After saying all of this, if he still thinks anyone in the country will take his apology seriously, then he’s seriously mistaken because Indian fans have vehemently rejected his apology.
It wasn’t β€œin the heat of the moment”. It was a well thought statement given to promote radical Islam and attack Hindus. You are disgraceful human being, Waqar Younis.
β€” Madhav Sharma (@HashTagCricket) October 27, 2021Sorry. I don't accept your apology. What damage you have caused idiot like you will not understand. In India thousands of muslims play for clubs owned by the Hindus. Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and Mohammad Azharuddin led the country.
β€” Makarand Waingankar (@wmakarand) October 27, 2021He perfectly knew what he was saying....there was nothing heat of the moment there...he adds that india lost, that is why more hype is being created which is not true...bigotry is bigotry and not dependent on winning or losing...he is worried about his media career

South African wicket-keeper and batter Quinton de Kock had opted out of playing against the West Indies during their T20 World Cup 2021 after he refused to take a knee ahead of their match on Tuesday.
During the toss, the team skipper Temba Bavuma had said that de Kock wasn’t playing because of β€œpersonal reasons”. However, it was later confirmed by Cricket South Africa that the β€œpersonal reason” was his refusal to take a knee, raise his hand in protest or stand in attention as a way to show their support towards social equality.
    View this post on Instagram
β€œWith freedom of choice, as much as we decide what you want to do, we can’t escape the consequences of the choices and decisions that we make,” Bavuma said before the coin toss. β€œI think if there’s people out there who feel that certain things need a bit more clarity, then the fans, the media, should probably ask those individuals themselves.”
The Proteas went on to win their contest against the Windies by 8 wickets and with 10 balls to spare. The 27-year old speedster Anrich Nortje, with is 1/14 in 4 overs, was chosen as the Player of the Match meanwhile, middle-order hitter Aiden Markram’s unbeaten 51-run innings also helped his side chase down a 143-run total in just 18.2 overs.
    View this post on Instagram
Despite the win, the discussions around de Kock’s refusal to take a knee remained the biggest talking point and Bavuma was asked once again to comment about his teammate’s decision, during the post-match conference.
β€œAs a team, we’re obviously surprised and taken aback. Quinton is a big player for the team, not just with the bat but the role he plays from a senior point of view,” Bavuma said. β€œIn saying that, Quinton is an adult. He’s a man in his own shoes. We respect his decision, his convictions. I know that he’ll be standing behind whatever decision that he’s taken.”

South Africa’s infamous past with racism has been well-documented. The existence of Apartheid in the country, and the eventual abolishment of it, made CSA feel extremely strongly about the World Cup directives to make their players protest against social inequality and racism.
The CSA statement said: β€œAll players are expected to follow this directive for the remaining games of the World Cup. After considering all relevant issues, including the freedom of choice of players, the board had made it clear it was imperative for the team to be seen taking a stand against racism, especially given SA’s history.”
Therefore, many feel that de Kock’s refusal to show his support towards the cause was incorrect and that he should have taken the knee or raised his hand in protest.
Showing solidarity against racism is not a 'political agenda', its something all decent humans should be doing...
β€” DK Louis (@DKLouis3) October 26, 2021Clear indication that in SA, racism is still existing among the players
β€” Oswald Samuel (@OswaldSamuel4) October 26, 2021Its really hard to understand why its so difficult to protest for such a serious issue .. i am afraid #DeKock career is all but over .. #IPL2022 should also take a note and should punish him specially #MumbaiIndians
β€” Dr Ratnadeep Goswami (@ratnadeepGoswa6) October 26, 2021As a South African I can't have a racist representing me in any tournament please remove Quinton de kock from the proteas with immediate effect
β€” Muntu (@Muntumuyeza) October 26, 2021However, there are also a lot of supporters of the 28-year old cricketer who feel that de Kock was rather brave in sticking with his personal choice and not mixing sports with politics:
I support Quinton De Kock . it's his personal choice..well done Quinny..
β€” Subrat Parida (@subratp85768956) October 26, 2021Massive respect for Quinton de Kock !!! He didnt take the knee and showed the woke world that he has spine !!!
β€” Nishith (@Nishith1608) October 26, 2021Blm is a political movement and has nothing to do with racism #quintondekock is more discriminated against in south africa than any black player #IStandWithQDK
β€” The Crypto Janitor (@ThCryptoJanitor) October 26, 2021This is ridiculous! You cannot force a team member to do anything, respect their decisions and let them play for their country.

If you’re a Marvel fan, you love collecting memorabilia items and you have some hefty cash lying around, then maybe the contents of an auction that’s live right now might pique your interest. The Captain America shield used by actor Chris Evans in the 2019 Avengers movie is up for grabs for anyone willing to participate (and win) the bid.

    Β© Marvel Entertainment
Auctioned by the Hakes Auction, the shield is currently being offered for a bid price of $45,000 and along with it, a screen used by Chris Evans in the movie is also up for grabs.

β€œHake's Auctions is proud to offer Chris Evans' screen-used hero prop shield from Avengers: Endgame in Auction #233. Constructed by Marvel Studios Senior Prop Master Russell Bobbitt, the shield is 24" in diameter, approximately 3" deep and is constructed of high density foam, with a spun aluminum exterior and hand-crafted leather arm and hand straps on the interior. 30 to 40 shields were produced for Endgame, but this example was used for close-up shots in Evans' hand as it shows the most detail and its spun aluminum surface exhibits a mesmerizing metallic sheen. The other prop shields made for Endgame were used in long shots and action sequences, lasting one or two scenes before sustaining damage from use associated with stunt work. This shield was handled with care on set so it could be utilized in multiple scenes, making this shield's near pristine condition an even rarer feat”, the official website claims.

Currently, there are only six bids on the site and if you convert 45000 dollars to INR, it's approximately Rs 33,71,769! That’s a lot of money for sure but if you wish to own a piece of the MCU universe, then maybe go for it.Β

Days after winning the rights to own the Ahmedabad franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the US-based private equity firm CVC Capital Partners has come under scanner after it emerged that it had invested heavily in betting and gambling companies.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, the former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, who brought the IPL to life back in 2008, slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for awarding the rights to a firm that owns a β€œbig betting company”.
i guess betting companies can buy a @ipl team. must be a new rule. apparently one qualified bidder also owns a big betting company. what next - does @BCCI not do there homework. what can Anti corruption do in such a case ? #cricket
    β€” Lalit Kumar Modi (@LalitKModi) October 26, 2021
β€œI guess betting companies can buy a @ipl team. must be a new rule. apparently one qualified bidder also owns a big betting company.Β  what next - does @BCCI not do their homework. what can Anti corruption do in such a case?” Modi tweeted.
The CVC Capitals is a major player in international sport and has made huge investments all over the globe. The firm owned Formula 1 between 2006 and 2017. In August this year, it paid a staggering $3 billion to buy a 10 percent stake in Spanish top-flight football league La Liga, which is home to two of the biggest clubs in the world Real Madrid and Barcelona.
    Β© Twitter IPL
The IPL has been marred by betting and match-fixing controversy in the past and this kind of negative coverage will only spoil its effort to restore its clean image.

According to a report published in Outlook, the BCCI has already taken cognizance of the matter and have reached out to the private equity firm to find out if their association with the betting companies would lead to any conflict of interest issue later on.
    Β© Adani Group
The same report also claimed that this development has put Adani Group on alert and they are already weighing their options and will be the front-runners to bag the rights if the CVC is shown the exit door.

Submitting a bid of Rs 5,625 crore, the CVC outbid the local favourites Adani, who had placed a bid of Rs 5,100 crore. The highest bid was made by the Sanjiv Gokenka’s RPSG Group but they chose to own the Lucknow-based outfit, leaving Ahmedabad for the second-highest bidder. The RPSG Group, which previously owned the Rising Pune Supergiant, committed to pay Rs 7,090 crore over the next 10 years.
    Β© Reuters
As this news made its way to the social media, the fans started praising the Adanis, who could make a backdoor entry, for playing smartly and bringing Shah Rukh Khan’s famous dialogue from Baazigar -- Haar Ke Jeetne Vale To Baazigar Kehte Hai-- to life.

Some people even pointed out the BCCI’s hypocrisy (). One one hand, the Indian board has brought in several fantasy platforms on board as sponsors and is making money, on the other hand they are targeting the international firm for investing in betting companies.
That is going to Adani the next highest bidder. Well played modi ji
