L Murugan was recently appointed as Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Information Broadcasting. However, this news didn’t change the minds of his parents as they continue to toil in the fields of Tamil Nadu to make a living.
Before Murugan became the Union Minister, he was Tamil Nadu BJP President. His parents, Loganathan and Varudammal live in the small village of Konur in Tamil Nadu's Namakkal district.
Read this report to believe it . Son @Murugan_MoS is a MOS in PM Sri @narendramodi cabinet. Parents are proud but continue their work for living . pic.twitter.com/Wx0d5wsL5M
— B L Santhosh (@blsanthosh) July 18, 2021
As per a report in TOI, the couple is living independently. It is also reported that Loganathan and Varudammal belong to the Arunthathiyar community, which is a Dalit subsect. The couple live in a tiny house and were working in the fields when they heard that their son will become a minister.
Talking to a reporter, Varudammal said that he didn’t do anything to make his son’s careers reach heights and she is proud of him. She also said that they supported their son’s education with borrowed funds and their own hard work.
Murugan is a lawyer and studied law at Dr Ambedkar Law College in Chennai. He also became a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
While he was practicing law, he represented BJP in many cases.
The couple doesn’t believe in changing their attitude even though their son has reached great heights. They still firmly believe in staying independent and want to keep working in the fields.
As soon as the news started doing the rounds of the Internet, reactions from all across the country started pouring in. Here’s what people have to say about this-
Proud of living....
Heartfelt Namaskar to @Murugan_MoS Parents

After a long wait of more than two years, the wrist-spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, famously nicknamed ‘Kul-Cha’ were named together in the same Playing XI when India took on Sri Lanka in the first ODI at Colombo’s R.Premadasa Stadium.
It was in this very city we saw Chahal and Yadav wearing the national jersey together for the first time. For the next two years, they became a vital part of India’s limited-overs squad and troubled batsmen all around the world.

Their dominant display had earned them a place in the 2019 World Cup squad where they featured in India’s first six games during the course of the tournament. As they say, all good things come to an end and so it did for ‘Kul-cha’ after just one bad performance.
India were up against hosts England in their sixth game of the tournament and that was the last time we saw them bowling together. The English batsmen took both the bowlers to the cleaners and collected 160 runs off their 20 overs as they paid the heavy price of India’s first loss in the tournament.

Since then, India has tried many spinners but none could weave the same magic as the two wrist spinners for an extended period of time and perhaps that is why they have resorted to trying them once again, perhaps for one last time with the T20 World Cup in mind.
As India announced the Playing XI for the first ODI, fans, who have long been demanding their reunion, started rejoicing and thanked skipper Shikhar Dhawan and head coach Rahul Dravid for playing them together.
Oh yeah this is happiness, our very own KulCha is back.

— Hemant Kumar (@SportsCuppa) July 18, 2021Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle also welcomed the move of going in with the two wrist spinners. While Chahal has always been in and out of the team, Kuldeep has struggled to get a consistent run in the team across formats and Bhogle rightly pointed out that it would be a make-or-break series for the chinaman bowler.
“Delighted that India have gone in with Kuldeep and Chahal. Keen to see if they can get that combination going again; especially Kuldeep. This is a big series for him," said Bhogle.

With spinners like Rahul Chahar, Varun Chakravarthy waiting on the sidelines, Yadav would have to grab this opportunity with both hands because he might not get too many.
Moment to cherish!

Meanwhile, India also handed debuts to two Mumbai Indians stars Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan. The duo had made their T20I debuts in the same match against England earlier this year.

If I were to pick up an analogy to describe a relationship in the most simplistic way, I’d probably go ahead to say how it’s almost like a roller coaster ride. For some, the line to get to the ride is short and quick, for others, it is long and tiresome. But the thing common for everyone who gets aboard it is that it is full of ups and downs.
There are bound to be a few high and a few low points in the course of a relationship and the best way to navigate through all of them is by being prepared and guarded by the safety belt.
While it is easier to get lost in enjoying the high moments, it is also natural to feel queasy when the low suddenly arrives.
© Maddock Films
And one such low point in any relationship could be when your partner tells you they want space. Which may sound worrying or startling at first, but is completely normal and needs to be tackled with just as much patience and sensitivity.
Here are 5 ways to help you give space to your partner, without worrying about losing them along the way:
1. Don’t Take It Personally © Maddock Films
Before you jump to any conclusions and take it as a sign to break up, take a moment to remind yourself that relationships can be overwhelming and wanting some time to yourself to handle it doesn’t always have to be bad.
Remember, it is more about them than it is about you.
2. Talk About It © iStock
It is important for both the partners to be transparent with each other about what they mean when they say they want space.
Is it a few days to themselves? Is it a weekend getaway with best friends, talk it out and hear them out. Chances are they feel burnt out and having a few days to be with themselves will help them get right back on track. More so, with your support.
3. Hold Back From Reaching Out Too Much © iStock
Once you have decided to offer space to your partner, make sure that you stick to it.
Someone who is already feeling overwhelmed and has requested some time to claim themselves back would like it much better if they wouldn’t be getting bombarded with your texts or calls all the time.
This also doesn’t mean you two go radio silent, but that you respect their privacy and let them reach out to you.
4. Use The Time For Yourself © iStock
Relationships can take an emotional toll on both people and it is always a good idea to take some time to rejuvenate and relax.
Use this time to connect with yourself and tend to your own needs without worrying about anything else. Meet with your friends, take a spa day, pay attention to other relationships in your life.
5. Be Supportive © iStock
For whatever reason that your partner feels like they could use a little space, don’t judge them for it. It could be that they’re going through a hard time and being encouraging might just help them deal with it better.
Give your partner the liberty to come back and share their thoughts with you at their own pace.

With oily skin, comes a dozen other skin problems. Dullness, acne, blackheads and whiteheads, among other woes.
Although all skin types struggle with blackheads, people blessed with oily skin have more prominent and stubborn blackheads that just add to their already existing skin woes.
© iStock
Whether or not you have oily skin, if you have blackheads, there are ways to get rid of them and achieve spotless and smooth skin at home.
You can rely on the natural and fail-safe ingredients to whip up some DIY blackhead removal masks that are easy, effective and don’t hurt as much as those eye-watering, viral peel-off masks you have seen on your Instagram feeds. Those are no friend to your skin.
© iStock
Here are three homemade masks that actually do wonders for your skin, while removing blackheads without pain or effort:
© iStock
1. Oatmeal & Honey Mask © iStock
Oatmeal is coarse and thus, can help exfoliate your skin while removing the blackheads and whiteheads effectively. It also leaves your skin moisturised and soft.
Blend oats into a powder and add some honey to it to make a thick, sticky paste. Apply this mixture to the affected areas like your T-zone and let it dry.
Scrub it off after 15-20 minutes and rinse with cold water.
2. Egg White Mask © iStock
Egg white helps zap oil from the skin and because it’s sticky, it works as a natural peel-off mask that’s also incredibly easy to make at home.
Separate egg white and yolk and whisk the white portion until it’s frothy and white. Apply it onto your face with a facial brush and cover it with bits and pieces of tissue paper.
Once completely dry, peel it off and wash your face.
3. Lemon Peel Off © iStock
Lemon is an excellent ingredient for oily and acne-prone skin and if you are dealing with clogged pores, there is no better face mask than the one with lemon juice as its main ingredient to clear excess sebum, dirt and extract blackheads.
Take gelatin powder and warm water in a bowl and add a few drops of lime juice to it. Mix until it’s a gooey mask. Apply it on the blackheads and let it dry before you peel it off. Wash and moisturise.

If you've been a fan of the Harry Potter movies, you cannot deny the fact that studying at Hogwarts, the scenic and towering magical boarding school in the wizarding world, was at top of our wish list.
© Warner Bros.
© Warner Bros.
Now, while nothing can really come close to beating that, let's just say that the life of a student studying in an Indian boarding school isn't all that bad.
Talk about The Doon School in Dehradun, The Lawrence School, Sanawar near Shimla, or the Good Shepherd International School in Ooty, all of them are set in marvelous scenic locations that are expected to give a child an experience of a lifetime.

While, of course, it can be tough to leave the comfort of one's home or the support from one's parents, however, boarding schools offer a shot at independence unlike any other, aside from a chance at making a really good bunch of friends for life.
Like all things in India, Bollywood films do a more than decent job of showing us the life and times of a certain event, and we'll let it do the same for the life of a student at an Indian boarding school.
1. Rockford © Disney Plus Hotstar
The Bollywood coming-of-age film was directed by National Award-winning director Nagesh Kukunoor, and boy did it do a great job of describing life in a boarding school.
The movie tells the story through the lens of Rajesh Naidu, a 13-year-old boy who leaves home to study at the Rockford Boys' High School. While Rajesh is of course a tad bit sad and lonely at first, he soon makes some really good friends at the school. Together they try fighting off the school's big and bad bully, Raja, who clearly does not have much affinity towards Rajesh, who also ends up forging a deep friendship with his PT Instructor/mentor Johnny Matthew.
Be it in terms of boarding school friendship, awkward high-school romances, or bullying, Rockford succeeds in displaying all the elements perfectly, making you want to enroll yourself in a boarding school.
2. Taare Zameen Par © Netflix
Okay, we all cried when Ishaan (Darsheel Safary), an 8-year-old boy with dyslexia, was shipped off to boarding school and "Tujhe Sab Hai Pata Meri Maa" played in the background.
Now, while the boarding school life was indeed very tough for him at the start, it is there that he meets Rajan, a physically disabled boy, who actually cares for him as a friend, regardless of him being good at academics or not. Most importantly, the boarding school becomes the place where Ishaan ends up meeting the very empathetic art teacher, Ram Shankar Nikumbh, who really tries to help Ishaan out of actual care and not just obligation.
The movie may be more about a social message than the focus on a boarding school, however, the fact that the movie does explain how adversities become an opportunity to brew true friendships regardless of age , all in the backdrop of a boarding school scenario, cannot be ignored. After all, it is, after living in the boarding school, that Ishaan truly ends up getting closer to his mother and father.
3. Udaan © Netflix
Well, we know what you're thinking. Udaan? Really? That movie was more about an abusive, alcoholic father (played by Ronit Roy) doing everything in his power to stop his older kid Rohan (Rajat Barmecha) from pursuing his dreams.
The thing is, that the movie begins with Rohan living out his boarding school life, and it clearly paves way for the entire film. At the start, Rohan along with his close buddies is seen jumping the walls of their boarding school hostel to catch a late-night movie, only to be later caught and expelled. While hell awaits Rohan on his return home, the movie shows how his loving friends, that he had met in the boarding school, play a silent yet integral part in being a glimmer of hope that helps him come out of the darkness.
In the end, one just feels that if that studying in a boarding school was what it took to make such long-lasting, genuine friendships, so be it.
4. Mohabbatein © Prime Video
Okay! Let's admit it. No boarding school in India looks like the one in Mohabbatein.
In fact, the Gurukul school in the movie is actually Longleat House, a stately home in the United Kingdom wala UK, not the Uttarakhand wala.
Now, while the movie may have been a larger-than-life idea of a boarding school, it sure resonated with us. We loved it, and we will continue to do so because it had Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan in it, giving us a long, yet gripping story of how life can be at a boarding school.
The movie perfectly highlighted how the camaraderie between school students develops when they are all thrown into a school far from home, where they are to do everything on their own while sharing the same bunk-beds. While some of it may be too Bollywoodish, but we sure loved how Mohabbatein showed us the challenges the trio of Uday Chopra, Jugal Hansraj, and Jimmy Shergill had to overcome while chasing their high-school crushes.
We may love it or make fun of it, we sure cannot deny that we'd have liked studying in the Gurukul where Shah Rukh Khan was our music teacher/love doctor.
