New Zealand cricketer James (Jimmy) Neesham continues to show why he is known for his wit and social media dominance when it comes to roasting other cricketers and teams in a way that would definitely be remembered for a long time.
So when the England football team lost the opportunity to lift their first ever Euro Cup on Sunday, the Kiwi knew exactly the right buttons to push and press on the fresh wounds.

After scoring in the first three minutes of the final against Italy, England struggled to expand their lead in the first half and went on to give up a goal to their opponents in the 67th minute, which led to a stalemate neither of the sides was able to break in the first 90 minutes of the match. Despite adding additional game time, no certain outcome was given.
Finally, Italy managed to add to their winning streak against England and bagged their first European championship in 53 long years through penalty shootouts while scoring three goals against England’s two to win it all.

With the feeling of defeat still very much branded in the hearts of the British fans, Neesham decided to refresh their memories from two years ago when England ended up winning the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2019 with the help of one of the most ridiculous rules of the game.
After England and New Zealand were tied at the end of the 50-overs, a Super-Over contest was arranged between the two sides, which also happened to end in a tie. As a tie-breaker, the ICC looked at the team that had scored the most number of boundaries during the final - and that’s how Eoin Morgan’s men had won their very first World Cup at home in 2019.

Neesham, who found himself to be a part of the losing side of the championship due to this infamous rule, used a similar explanation, albeit in a joking manner to rub the Euro 2020 loss in the Englishmen’s face.
Why is it a penalty shootout and not just whoever made the most passes wins? #joking

β€œWhy is it a penalty shootout and not just whoever made the most passes wins?” Neesham wrote on Twitter moments after Italy defeated England for the title at the Wembley Stadium and it managed to get some hilarious responses too:
