Us Indians find pride in everything remotely ‘desi’. From a song that went viral to Priyanka Chopra joining Hollywood, we love boasting, waxing eloquent about everything associated with our roots. India is also famous for producing so many super intelligent humans who have not only managed to hold some key global positions across the world but are also leading some big company names out there. Here are 7 India-born men who currently hold a high profile job abroad:

    1. Sundar Pichai © BCCL
The name is already synonymous with Google and needs no introduction. Born in Madurai, Sundar went to IIT Kharagpur and then to the prestigious Wharton School in Pennsylvania. Pichai joined Gooogle in 2004 and became CEO in 2015

    2. Satya Nadella © BCCL
This Hyderabad born business genius is the head of Microsft who holds an MS in Computer Science from Wisconsin. Before he joined Microsoft in 1992, he was a part of Sun Microsystems.

    3. Nikesh Arora © BCCL
This Indian-American business executive graduated from IIT Varanasi before joining Google. He then served as the president of SoftBank Group for two years, from 2014 to 2016. He is currently the CEO of Palo Alto Networks.
    4. Dinesh Paliwal © BCCL
Not many may be acquainted with this Indian’s contribution to our musical experience. He was the CEO at Harman International until last year before moving on to the board of directors. Also, he earned his engineering degree from IIT Roorkee and is solely responsible for shooting Harman’s revenue in the last few years.

    5. Pankaj Patel © BCCL
He is currently the chief strategy officer at a venture capital firm called JC2 Ventures and previously served as executive vice-president at Cisco Systems.

    6. Suresh Vaswani © BCCL
His portfolio is quite colourful and by the looks of it, he must be a very busy man. He was previously the chairman of Dell India and is currently a senior director with Everstone group and an external advisor to Bain Consulting.

    7. Sanjay Mehrotra © Twitter
He is the founder of SanDisk and served as CEO from 2011 to 2016 before becoming the now-CEO of Micron Technology.

Battlegrounds Mobile India is finally available for users who pre-registered for the game after months of anticipation.
The game is available for Beta testers at the moment until the full rollout of the game later this month.
The PUBG alternative looks and feels more or less the same as the previous game however there are some changes that players may want to know about.
    © Krafton
Firstly, the game is still not available to everyone which means only a few selected Beta testers will get access to the game.

The game has been adopted and gone through some changes that are very similar to the Chinese version of the popular Battle Royale game.
For starters, the blood in the game is now green and that has been changed probably because the Indian Government deemed it to be a violent game.
There are also four maps users can download at the moment called Livik, Miramar, Sanhok and Karakin. These maps aren’t any different from the maps you may have seen in the previous game.
Players will also be able to transfer their old data and progress from PUBG Mobile until December 31st 2021.
    © Twitter/Shivam Bhardwak
In addition to the classic Battle Royale mode, players can now also play in Arcade, Arena and EvoGround modes. Apart from the new modes, the game looks identical in build to PUBG Mobile, however, oddly enough the game does not make any reference to the previous game.

While only game testers who pre-registered for the game can access the install file right now, it seems like it will be available to everyone on June 18th on the Play Store.
Battlegrounds Mobile India has currently launched without any scrutiny from the Indian government at the moment as the Centre has no power to ban the game before it launches on the Play Store.
Having said that, the Centre will keep a close eye on the game once it launches for privacy and national security concerns.

Battlegrounds Mobile India is currently the biggest game release in the country where over 20 million gamers pre-registered for the game. It will be interesting to see how Krafton handles the Indian Government after launch since many politicians are already calling for a ban on the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most decorated footballers of our generation, a name synonymous with greatness and perfection.
He has been rewriting history time and again with his god-like skills and the Portuguese star, often finds himself being in the news for anything and everything he does.
Sometimes for wrong reasons as well!

    © Twitter/Stephen Scullion
Recently, Ronaldo nonchalantly made a face as he removed two bottles of carbonated drinks of Coco-Cola during a press conference at the European Championship.

As he kept aside the bottles, he said 'Drink water'.
This also led to a whopping loss of $4 billion loss for the brand, as Coco-Cola is a sponsor for the current tour.
Ronaldo's snub though made everyone laud the footballer and they called him a role model, while some took a jab at the brand and said it's the 'Ronaldo Effect.'

But, it takes only a few minutes for someone to go back in the past and dig some dirt on stars when they go viral for something good.

The same happened with Ronaldo as well.
An old ad of his starring in a Coca Cola commercial during his early days has gone viral. People on Twitter had a quick response to it and called the Juventus forward a 'hypocrite' as the old video re-emerged.
So Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't like Coke huh?

    Well this is awkward.....

Others also spoke about Ronaldo endorsing KFC, which is in opposition to him following a healthy diet and often talking about it.

In the video, he is seen enjoying a bucket of fried chicken. This video is still live on the Arabia YouTube channel.
While some criticised the star, others praised him as he discouraged everyone from consuming aerated drinks, despite the ad.
Take a look at the video here:

Here's how people on Twitter reacted.
    Hey google , what's does a HYPOCRITE mean ? #Ronaldo #CocaCola pic.twitter.com/KSNCDGAci5

    — Official SalaMighty (@sala_mighty) June 15, 2021The irony of all this is that I’ve seen Coca Cola mentioned more times in the past day than I ever have before, they’re probably loving the publicity https://t.co/U7pxnEL1qz
    — TalkFCB © (@talkfcb_) June 15, 2021Why would an athlete want to promote a bottle of sugar ? https://t.co/sylXfAL6nc
    — Gazberto (@gazberto) June 16, 2021Wonder how much @CocaCola paid for that to be placed there https://t.co/b7G6IAbZp4
    — Stephen Scullion (@scullion262) June 15, 2021Here's also some support...
Or he was very young and needed the money then and now has changed his mind about being more conscious of the things he promotes. 🤷🏻‍♀️
People are allowed to "change their mind".
    — Ankita Chaudhary (@cuckoobara) June 16, 2021Or he just came to the realisation that it was utter shite and decided he didn’t want to associate with it...

    ...y’know, folk can do that🤷🏻‍♂️

Let’s just be glad he’s setting an good example for the millions of kids that will see it
    — Greg Wilson (@Pecks1181) June 16, 2021Ronaldo moves some Coca-Cola out of his way at presser, then people say he did a Coca-Cola advert in the past. Any sort of 'hypocrisy' you see doesn't negate the positive action. We can celebrate the action and what it stands for separately. Because it's about how we react to it.

If most of your childhood has been spent saying ‘abba nahi manenge’ to everything your friends suggested, you know you’ve been raised by a strict dad. You had to prep, make mental notes of how you are going to ask for that one permission, get your mom and siblings (and neighbours and relatives) to support you and when you finally asked, you still got denied.

    © Vinod Chopra Films
Rings a bell? If it happened too many times when you were growing up, you will relate to these onscreen dads who are just a replica of every super strict desi dad. They play by their rules and you have got to too, if you want to stay under his roof, young man!

    © Aamir Khan Productions
Here are 5 Bollywood dads that will remind you of your strict desi dad.

    1. Gurtej Singh Kahlon from Patiala HouseApart from the strict house rules and the desi dad aura, this NRI dad aka bauji had his terror in his house. He loved his nation more than his children and didn’t let his children pick their own career or life partners. And, everyone had to oblige.
    © Hari Om Entertainment
    2. Nandkishore Awasthi from Taare Zameen ParIf this dad doesn't remind you of your math homework with your father yelling at you for not getting a simple sum right, are you even a child of a strict parent? He is the kind of dad who would compare his son with Sharma ji ka ladka and won’t take anything less than Rank 1 in the class.

    3. Mr Qureshi from 3 IdiotsFarhan’s dad was named Hitler Qureshi for a reason. He was the career obsessed dad who had high expectations for his kid and hated words like “passion, creativity and wildlife photography.” He meant well for his son, though and later gave in to his request and let him pursue his dreams.

    4. Mahavir Singh Phogat from Dangal Based on a real desi dad who was super strict and diligent, this hanikarak bapu was hellbent on making his girls Geeta and Babita wrestling champions. The kids didn’t have a say in it and had to wake up at 5 am to get trained by their dad.

    5. Narayan Shankar from MohabbateinOkay, he was a bit too harsh but if you also had to lie about talking to a friend, when in fact you were talking to a girl, you have been raised by a Narayan Shankar. He has always busted you at parties, gave you disappointed looks and expects you to marry the girl he chooses for you, because “parampara pratishtha anushasan.”

India, the country with over 130 crore people, and a tiny nation of New Zealand, with a meagre population of just over 51 lakh, are ready to lock horns in the final of World Test Championship in Southampton, England.
In terms of population, there is no comparison between the two countries, but when it comes to cricket, both nations have seen eye to eye over the last two years. Led by two charismatic leaders, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson, both countries have proven their mettle, outplaying their oppositions both home and away.
    ️ #TeamIndia announce their 15-member squad for the #WTC21 Final pic.twitter.com/ts9fK3j89t
    — BCCI (@BCCI) June 15, 2021
The only series loss India suffered during their campaign came against New Zealand which speaks volumes of the team's calibre but other than that, there has been no separating the two sides in the last two years in the longest format of the game.
But come the 22nd June (or June 23rd if the match stretches to the reserve day) one or both these teams, depending on the match result, will be crowned the first-ever Test world champions. For that dream to become a reality, both sides will have to cross one final hurdle and it begins with choosing their best XIs for the game. Both teams have announced their 15-member squad for the mega clash and with the world championship on the line, there is no room for an error.

    — ICC (@ICC) June 15, 2021
    Rohit Sharma © BCCI
Indian have named only two designated openers in their 15-men squad, hence there is no point in guessing that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both are set to open the batting. Barring a few innings here and there, Rohit has been on top of his game ever since he began opening in Test cricket. While Rohit is set to play his first Test as an opener in England, the fact that he has a wonderful white-ball record should give him a lot of confidence going into the match.

Shubman GillWhile Rohit is coming off a wonderful Test series at home against England, Gill, on the other hand, failed to deliver on the high expectations that people had from him after his heroics Down Under. That said, he is one of the most promising young batsmen in the country, all he needs is to unlock that beast from within and what better stage to do it than the WTC final.
Cheteshwar PujaraCheteshwar Pujara has been India’s batting mainstay in the longest format for several years now. A classic Test batsman in Pujara is capable of wearing out any bowling attack with his sheer determination of spending long hours in the middle and he is probably the reason why India have managed to win so many matches away from home in hostile conditions. Pujara at his best can be a nightmare for any bowling attack and the good thing is he is on our side.
    Virat Kohli © Reuters
Before Kohli became India’s captain, India were known as a nation tough to beat at home but were never considered a good travelling side. However, things have changed in the last few years, especially after India’s back-to-back Test series wins in Australia, and Kohli and his aggressive leadership have played a major role in bringing about that change in mindset that has unlocked players to play fearless cricket -- be it home or away. While Kohli the leader is brilliant, Kohli the batsman is even better and his records are there for everyone to see and Indian fans would expect him to lead by example.

Ajinkya RahaneWhen your middle-order comprises the likes of Pujara, Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, the thought of tinkering shouldn’t even cross anyone’s mind. Given what Rahane achieved both as a leader and a batsman in the last six months, he has more than earned his place in the starting XI. A little bit of consistency and he will end his career as one of the greats of the game.
Rishabh PantIt’s hard to believe that in December last year, Rishabh Pant was fighting for his place in the side, but his heroics -- first against Australia and then at home versus England -- has seen him seal his place in the starting playing XI.
Ravichandran Ashwin © Instagram Indian Cricket Team
While it’s been a smooth sail so far, here comes the first real issue for Kohli and the team management. But let’s get one thing straight, given the number of left-handers New Zealand have in their squad, there should be no debate about Ravichandran Ashwin starting the game. He is the only bowler to dismiss over 200 left-handers in red-ball cricket and is expected to do the same against the Kiwis.

Ravindra JadejaThe main tussle is whether to pair Ashwin alongside Ravindra Jadeja or not. Mind you, had the match been in India, Jadeja and Ashwin both would have started, no questions asked, but the conditions in England leave Kohli and management with a tough choice to make.
Apart from his bowling, Jadeja has matured as a batsman in the last couple of years and when it comes to fielding, there’s hardly anyone better than him in world cricket. Also, by leaving him out, India are left with a comparatively longer tail and that’s never a good thing to do, especially in foreign conditions.
So, to conclude if it was up to us we would start both Jadeja and Ashwin because New Zealand batsmen are not accustomed to playing two quality spinners that often and if things turn out well, this could very well be India’s masterstroke.
    Jasprit Bumrah © BCCI Twitter
Jasprit Bumrah, despite a relatively young Test career, has quickly emerged as India’s first-choice pacer especially away from home and the same trend is expected to continue. His unorthodox action, ability to bowl in excess of 140kmph and generate good amount of pace and bounce give him the edge over any other bowler.

Mohammed ShamiMohammed Shami has picked up 180 wickets from 50 matches and is another bowler who could hurry batsmen with his seam, swing and extra bit of bounce. His records show that he does well with the old ball because he knows how to get the ball to reverse.
Ishant SharmaThere is no substitute for experience and veteran pacer Ishant Sharma is the only player with over 100 Tests under his belt. After Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan, Ishant is the country’s third-most successful bowler of all-time. With him in the side, India have won many battles in the past and they would hope he delivers once again in what he describes as big of a match as a 50-over World Cup final.

“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” although this phrase was introduced to us by the all-time great boxer Muhammad Ali, it is also the best way to describe the now 48-year-old Leander Paes - humble in his words, so joyous to talk to, and full of experience at the highest level of competitive tennis.
I first met Paes at a sports award show a couple of years ago. He was being honoured with the ‘Lifetime Achievement' award for a professional career spanning 29 years. These were 29 years of winning everything there was to win as a professional tennis star and then some.

Eight doubles and ten mixed doubles Grand Slams including the historic 6–7, 6–3, 6–4, 7–6 win with partner Mahesh Bhupathi at the 1999 Wimbledon final, and Paes would still greet you with warmth and affection. What stands out in his humility is the fact that he will always be the first to introduce himself. "Hi, I am Leander," he would say while hoping to shake your hand, as if the world did not already know who he was, and wasn't already hoping to get a picture clicked with him.

If you get the opportunity to be in the legend’s vicinity when he is talking about his parents and how they created a sense of discipline in his life, consider yourself lucky. The way Paes articulates even the smallest of the details of his journey, the way he talks about the most important episodes of his life with a smile on his face, it will make you admire how unique this athlete is.

He may not be the skinniest guy on the court, he’d definitely not be the most athletic either , but the man covered all of it up with his heart. He will burn himself out to chase the farthest of shots. Every point mattered the same to him and nothing seemed to be impossible until the ball bounced twice.
“In the semis I meet Leander Paes, from India. He’s a flying jumping bean, a bundle of hyperkinetic energy, with the tour’s quickest hands. Still, he’s never learned to hit a tennis ball. He hits off-speed, hacks, chips, lobs — he’s the Brad of Bombay. Then, behind all his junk, he flies to the net, covers so well that it seems to work. After an hour, you feel as if he hasn’t hit one ball cleanly — and yet he’s beating you soundly. Because I’m prepared, I stay patient, stay calm, and beat Paes 7-6 6-3.” This is how former world No. 1 and all-time great, Andre Agassi described his first encounter with a then 23-year-old Paes in the semi-final of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
    View this post on Instagram
“He hit like maybe 25 drop shots. That’s strange. But just because he plays strange doesn’t mean it’s not good. It’s just strange,” Agassi added.

I’ll never get over this day. Just another boy who believed he could. But it took a LOT more than just belief. Look Dada, now we can finally sit on the same table as two Olympic champions I earned that for you, me, for our people and for our country. It feels GOOD pic.twitter.com/y9AHyM87JZ
    — Leander Paes OLY (@Leander) August 3, 2019 It was also during the same tournament that Agassi’s father Mike told Dr Vece Paes (Leander’s dad): “Amazing. My boy is supposed to play well, but your boy has been playing this week like a Top 4 player.”
    #OneLastRoar pic.twitter.com/WwALCVF5LO
    — Leander Paes OLY (@Leander) December 25, 2019 The Calcuttan decided to have that “one last roar” before saying goodbye to the sport back in 2019, and there was nothing but immense pride, honour and joy in the hearts of his people. There is no greater way to sign off than this. This is the legacy of Leander Paes, and it is as magnanimous as he is.
Here’s wishing a very happy birthday to the man who never knew when to quit and, who didn’t let his weaknesses become an excuse and who is one of the strangest to ever play the game of tennis but that’s not always bad, right?

With the World Test Championship final starting from Friday, the biggest names of international cricket have turned their attention towards the one-off contest between the two leading titans, India and New Zealand.
And as it is inevitable, the war of words between the two sides who will be locking horns at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl cricket ground has already started.
    View this post on Instagram
However, New Zealand legend and Mumbai Indians bowling coach, Shane Bond explains that the banter between the leader of Blackcaps’ bowling attack, Trent Boult and the opener for the Indian batting line-up, Rohit Sharma, began way before the two sides were even in the United Kingdom for the clash.
According to Bond, Sharma and Boult, who are Mumbai Indians teammates, began their rivalry, albeit a little casual back then, during the first leg of the Indian Premier League, 2021.
    View this post on Instagram
"What I do know is that even during the IPL season, Trent Boult was running in, swinging the ball and hitting him (Sharma) on the pads and telling him, 'that's what is going to happen in the World Test Championship final'," Bond said on Star Sports about how the Kiwi pace-man tried to intimidate Sharma.
"So he (Boult) was talking about it four months in advance. There was banter going on, which was just brilliant. Those two were very aware that they were going to come up against each other," Bond added.
    View this post on Instagram
However, Bond realises that when you are going against a veteran player like the ‘Hitman’, such intimidation may not be enough and more often than not, the opponents end up in the dirt.
"I love Rohit Sharma as a player, I see him almost in a Matt Hayden kind of role where he goes out, as he did against England in the series in India on very difficult wickets, and he imposes himself," Bond said.
    View this post on Instagram
"He could come out and score very quickly, he's that sort of player, very dynamic in difficult conditions, like Rishabh Pant, can take the game away from a team in a very good hour even when New Zealand are bowling with the new ball. So with the field up and he's such a stroke-maker, it sort of suits him being at the top of the order when the ball is hard.
"There are obviously some areas in his game which New Zealand will look to exploit but what he does do is he scores fast and if he can score fast and put runs on the board, that instantly puts pressure on the bowling attack and there's nothing worse as a bowler than going for runs, especially if you're trying to pitch the ball up."

All eyes will be on the Kiwis and the Men in Blue after they battled and won against the rest of the world and came out as the top two teams to take part in the World Test Championship finals between 18-22 June.
