Investigative mystery shows work for most of us on so many different levels.

    © Netflix
First, they allow us, the viewers to play the detectives, like most investigative shows. Plus, they also scratch the itch that we have for a good thriller story that is shrouded in mystery.

Whether you pick literature, cinema, TV shows or web series, this is a formula that has always worked.
    © HBO
These are shows that keep you engrossed, that just grab onto you and keep your attention hooked. A really well made investigative mystery show like the Mindhunter will always find a cult following.

    © Universal Television Distribution
Here are 6 investigative mystery shows that are, simply put, brilliant in every sense of the word. Almost as good, if not better, than Mindhunter:

    1. Freud
You’re literally watching Sigmund Freud, as an amateur detective, who’s investigating a spat of murders and disappearances.
As if that wasn’t cool enough, we see Freud get entangled with a ‘psychic’ and some occult. Think Sherlock Holmes: Game Of Shadows but on a better budget and shot in Vienna.
    2. The Alienist
If you haven’t watched the Alienist, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. The show is masterfully made and has a very gripping story.
You follow a group of amateur detectives (one’s a psychiatrist, one’s a cartoonist in a newspaper, and one’s a secretary) through the New York of the 1890s as they try and solve a murderer who kills young prostitute boys.
The second season is just as gripping, so you’re sorted for a whole weekend’s worth of binge.
    3. Broadchurch
Now, this is a show that not a lot of people are aware of, but if you are one of the few people who have actually watched this show in its entirety, you have great taste.
This is one of the best British television shows ever made, that’s just a fact. Of course, visually, the show is stunning. The story and the character development between each season is phenomenal.
If you haven’t watched this yet, do yourself a favour and, watch it as soon as you can.
    4. The Killing
The Killing is again one of those investigative mystery shows that follows all the classic tropes.
With that being said, the story feels very fresh. Do keep in mind, that this one is a little slow-paced at times. However, the show is absolutely worth a watch.
    5. The Sinner
As opposed to most investigative mystery shows, which explore the ‘who’ of the crime, as in “whodunnit,” The Sinner investigates the why. And don’t assume that these are your run of the mill criminals, they’re not.
Instead, we get to see a series of very ordinary people, murdering, looting and committing some of the most heinous crimes, without any memory of them doing it.
Seriously, this is a show that will keep you hooked till the very end.
    6. Maigret
Maigret is not suited for everyone. This is very slow-paced, and it does test your patience if you’re only interested in the story. The show has many nuances about class, gender, and a number of socio-political issues.
But at its core, it is an investigative mystery. Also, this is a great reminder for everyone who knows Rowan Atkinson just for his character Mr Bean. The range that the actor has is phenomenal.
    7. True Detective
Come on, you don’t expect us to have to explain to you why this is on the list, now, do you? This is hands down the best show on the list, especially if you’re one of those fans who only consider the first season.
Don’t get us wrong, the other two seasons are phenomenally made and are definitely worth a watch. But they don’t hold a candle to the first season. Actually, nothing does.
Also, if you aren’t in awe of Matthew McConaughey after watching this show, get yourself tested, there’s something seriously wrong with you.
Which of these shows do you think is the best of the lot, and maybe even better than Mindhunter? Think there’s a show that we missed out here? Do let us know in the comments below.

As compared to the other members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of the transgender community have it harder in India.
The stereotypes that the community is shrouded with certainly doesn’t make their lives easier.
    © BCCL
Starting from being denied basic healthcare amenities, and housing, to being denied education and government jobs, people of the transgender community have faced endless trials and tribulations.

    © BCCL
This is where our elected governments should come in, ideally. Over the years, some state governments have stepped up and introduced legislation and policies that made their lives easier, in a very proactive manner. Other states, well, not so much.

    © BCCL
Here are 6 instances where state governments have stepped up and introduced initiatives, that have helped the Transgender community, massively:

    1. Assam Allowing Trans People To Register For Civil Service Exam © BCCL
Back in October 2020, the state government of Assam added ‘transgender’ as an option in the gender category for their state civil service examination forms. This made them the first Indian state to do so.

This means that people from the community in the state can now get recruited as state police officers and as other different civil servants.
    2. Odisha Police To Now Recruit Transgenders, Issue Application © BCCL
The Odisha Police recently announced that they would too will start recruiting transgender people for posts such as sub-inspectors and constables.

Furthermore, they have invited applications for the same.
    3. Tamil Nadu & Kerala To Pay For Trans People's Gender Reassignment Surgeries © BCCL
In 2018, Kerala became the second state after Tamil Nadu to offer financial aid to Trans People, who chose to go for reassignment surgery.

Both the state governments offered up to Rs 2 Lakhs for the surgery, and some other costs for therapy sessions to adjust to life after reassignment.
Tamil Nadu was also one of the first states to have a Transgender Welfare Board, which was established way back in 2008.
    4. Pension Scheme & Other Social Security - Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh & Andhra PradeshOver the years, some states have introduced several social security and pension schemes for people of the Transgender community.
Although this isn’t exactly a solution, it has been noticed that states which have some form of a welfare board or social security program, start paying attention to issues such as education and jobs.
    5. Dedicated Medical Boards & Sub-Committees For Trans People By Himachal Pradesh © BCCL
Healthcare, in particular, has been one area where trans people have faced some of the most biases, mainly because of administrative issues, not medical ones. This is particularly bad in government-run hospitals.

Back in 2016, Himachal Pradesh’s state government established dedicated Medical Boards & Sub-Committees, who were tasked with ensuring that the issues trans people have to deal with in getting adequate medical care, is dealt with urgently.
    6. Maharashtra’s Transgender Welfare Board & Their Focus On EducationThen, there’s Maharashtra’s Transgender Welfare Board, which was set up in 2019. Apart from conducting health programmes and providing education and employment opportunities to transgender people, the board also facilitates students in the state, who wish to apply for scholarships.
They also have numerous welfare programmes, which aim to make it easier for trans people to avail government schemes and benefits, in a timely manner.
    The Bottom Line…
While these states may already have robust systems in place to make lives easier for trans people, it is not enough, and a whole lot more needs to be done.
Reservation in educational institutions, government jobs are just a few of the things that are being deliberated. Other states seriously need to pull their socks up.
Most of them have only declared their intent to implement policies and measures that would help bring trans people for problems specific to them. Some, have not taken any actions, or haven’t made any such declarations at all.

Sushant Singh Rajput has left a void in people’s lives who genuinely loved him for his aura. A year has passed by already and it still feels like yesterday that the news started to flash everywhere that the beloved actor is no more.
When my father informed me of the news that Sushant is no more, I told him that he must have got it wrong for sure or it must be a hoax.
I knew Sushant and we had the most meaningful conversations whenever we met or talked on the phone. The news of his untimely demise pierced right through my heart and Sunday (14th June 2020) couldn’t have been any worse.
View this post on InstagramHis death did start many important conversations in Bollywood and many aspiring actors started to raise their voices against the injustice in the industry. Sushant has always been an important anchor for many youngsters who dare to dream big and make it big in Bollywood, without any strings or a godfather.
In an industry dominated by star kids, Sushant made his mark with movies like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kai Po Che, and Chhichhore in a very short span of his career.
He lived his characters and you could witness the entire metamorphosis in Sushant. More than just living his characters and giving them a new meaning, he was a man of wisdom and his words can give you a completely different outlook on life.
View this post on InstagramIt’s his thoughts that will continue his legacy and will be passed from generation to generation.
    1. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he had earlier said, “The closest synonym of happiness is excitement, and you can generate it by doing something that you can't completely comprehend. This understanding makes the process rich and exciting. So, you stumble over something new, and then work on it and make it your own.”
This is an amazing thought and it can completely change your outlook of seeing a particular situation if you implement it in your life. We have been living a monotonous life and if we manage to generate excitement, we have done half the job of lifting our spirits up.
    2. We all have goals but when we accomplish them, all we find is a dead end. I really loved how Sushant explained in of the interviews that happiness is not about achieving the very goal you have been desiring for ages, but it’s the process that keeps you going.
In an interview with Indian Express, he had said, “I really wanted to buy a Range Rover. It was a big dream, and the day I bought it, I was very happy, but by evening, I was immune to it. That’s when I realized that excitement if it’s happiness, is not in reaching the goal but in the process. Thus process trumps over realization.”
View this post on Instagram3. In a particular press conference, he had said, “To be able to make statements, you need to be confident about what you think. You need to have a sense of right and wrong.”
This one especially hit me the most as many people choose to let go of morality when they make statements and the key to success is to have a sense of what’s right and wrong.
    4. He had shared this thought in an interview with HT and we really need to understand the depth of it.
He had said, “We should never forget the inevitable, as we will lose everything, eventually. So, why fret over any kind of security? The idea is to just fly and experience it all while it lasts.”
It’s so true that we have been holding on to what next but it’s the truth that we will lose it all so it’s better to enjoy the experiences life is throwing at us on a daily basis.
View this post on Instagram5. It was in 2015 that he had said in an interview with HT, “Everybody is in a hurry to decode you in a certain way, and then they expect you to adhere to their definition. How can they possibly do that when you yourself are finding it hard to discover yourself?”
This statement holds true to every generation as we keep judging others but in reality, we are yet to have a grasp of our own selves.
These five statements by Sushant hit you completely differently. Which one do you relate to the most? Let us know in the comments section below.

There are many father-son duos who are known in Bollywood such as Amitabh Bachchan-Abhishek Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor-Ranbir Kapoor, Sunil Dutt-Sanjay Dutt, and many more. However, there are some fathers whose struggle in making their son a Bollywood actor is not known.

Many fathers are not themselves Bollywood stars but have made extreme efforts to make their sons Bollywood stars. So, here’s a list of actors whose dads played an integral role in making them Bollywood stars-
Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dad P Khurana View this post on Instagram
Ayushmann Khurrana is an outsider in Bollywood and made it big in the industry with just pure hard work. He has been able to win the hearts of his audience and he has struggled for a long time. However, it’s not only him who struggled and made him what he is today.
In a post, he expressed how his dad helped through the journey. He said, “From an under-confident child you transformed me into a people’s person. Your zest makes me more enthusiastic about life. Thank you papa for everything.”
Pankaj Tripathi’s Dad Pandit Benaras Tripathi
Pankaj Tripathi is one of the versatile actors that Bollywood has and he has been in the industry for a long time now but only gained stardom a few years ago. He brings a lot of edge to his roles but what we don’t know is that what role his father has played in making him an actor.
Pankaj Tripathi’s dad always wanted him to become a doctor but now he is happy as his son has become a successful actor.
Kartik Aaryan’s Dad Manish Tiwari View this post on Instagram
Kartik Aaryan has achieved a lot in a short period in Bollywood. From giving back-to-back hits to getting big-budget films, he has won the hearts of the audience. Now, that he has made it in Bollywood, it shows on his dad’s face how proud he is of his son’s success.

Officials from Krafton, the maker of PUBG on PC and consoles met with the Indian Embassy in Korea a few weeks before the PUBG Mobile ban.
According to an RTI request filed by MediaNama, it was discovered that Krafton Inc. met with officials at the Indian Embassy on August 13th, 2020.
    © Google Maps
It’s worthy to point out that a few weeks later, on September 2nd PUBG Mobile was banned by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

PUBG Mobile was developed by Chinese video games company, Tencent, who had been accused of violating privacy and data theft after border skirmishes with China last year. In fact, a whole array of Chinese apps were targeted for the same reason, which led to the ban of TikTok, Ali Express and other apps.
Tencent is also Krafton’s second-biggest stakeholder with an ownership of 15.5 per cent.
Due to Tencent’s involvement in Krafton’s business, many Indian politicians have started to call a ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India, the company’s replacement for PUBG Mobile.
However, it is difficult to ascertain the reason behind Krafton’s meeting with the Indian Embassy at the moment. In the RTI, the Indian Embassy did not detail the emails it received from Krafton citing “stringent Korean Privacy laws.”
It was also discovered that the Indian Embassy in Korea did not maintain any records of the request by Krafton. Having said that, the Indian Embassy did confirm that the meeting with Krafton involved the Korean company’s planned investments in India. Two months after the meeting, Krafton did announce its intention to invest US$100 million in India.
    © Krafton
Krafton is gearing up to launch Battlegrounds Mobile India sometime this month which awfully looks similar to PUBG Mobile. In fact, the game may even have similar gameplay to Tencent’s PUBG Mobile. The company has also come under scrutiny by key BJP leaders and MPs who have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a ban on the launch of the PUBG clone.

Earlier today, it was reported that India’s MeitY does not have the power to ban the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India. Additionally, it looks like both Apple and Google are reluctant to allow Krafton to launch the game on their respective app stores “due to the controversial nature of the app."

Regardless of how much we love our jobs and enjoy work, we still wait eagerly and impatiently for Friday every week. That’s the only 48 hours when there are no work calls, no client briefs and no targets to be achieved, except catching up on sleep and unwinding with some beer and maybe a movie. After you have slogged for five days, this is the least we deserve, right?

    © iStock
Someone on Twitter has some other POV regarding this. A user recently shared an unpopular opinion for young professionals advising them to work on the weekends for better career growth. They wrote, “Unpopular opinion: the best thing young people can do early in their careers is to work on the weekends.” Hmm.

    © Prime Video
People on Twitter aren’t too keen on the idea and are not sure how exactly this would help in one’s career. Would working on weekends fetch us a promotion or an “employee of the month award"?

But, if it messes up your sleep schedule and makes you miss out on the  important years of your life by spending them in a cubicle, is it really worth it?
    © Prime Video
It started an unending discussion about work-life balance, healthy work habits and the toxic corporate culture which is perpetuated by mentors and employers like these.

Nope. This generation is getting wise to this 40+ hour work week. There’s no need to work on the weekends to advance your career.
    — 🦊Melissa Amateis (@WW2HistoryGal) June 13, 2021Makes a note to not recommend any of the young people I mentor to work at one of your companies.

Balance matters; a full life matters; choosing to not be exploited by a company matters; establishing that balance and fullness starts early.
    — Grady Booch (@Grady_Booch) June 13, 2021Unpopular opinion: the best thing young people can do early in their careers is learn to have a fulfilling life at any income level so they don't trap themselves in a never-ending wealth-chasing capitalist hellscape for the rest of their lives.
    — Orchestructive (@orchestructive) June 13, 2021And then, there were some funny reactions on the thread that we totally loved. Here are some of them.
Some opinions are unpopular because they are bad

    — The most opinionated (@biigforehead93) June 13, 2021This tweet simply glamorizes overworking and encourages the workaholic culture, completely ignoring the fact that it’s important to have a life outside of work.
This reminds us of Japanese work culture where extreme work hours is an acceptable norm, so much so that employees dying due to overworking has a definite term ‘Karoshi’. Working for extra hours or extra days is definitely no solution or way to climb up the ladder of success. It is extremely unhealthy and unimportant.

We are glad that the replies came from some employers who said they would never motivate a young joinee to work on weekends. With bosses like these, young professionals can actually grow and feel motivated the right way.

    Okay guys, tell me this!

If you or any of your other Indian friends ever managed to keep long hair in college, you will know ki ladkiyon se zaada toh tumhe auntiyaan ghoorti hai.

The fact is that at many places, unfortunately, no matter how you are as a person, you will still be judged on the basis of your appearance.

Bhai! Even if you've not smoked weed or touched alcohol in your life, if you have long hair or dark circles (all that Netflix, bro), the police or your gully wale uncle will think of you as mohalle ka sabze bada nashedi.
While it's the hard truth, we're still pretty sure that you won't get arrested for just that.
Well, guess what? Neighbours Pakistan are one step ahead of us.
In what is clearly a bizarre reason to take someone on a ride to the local thane, the police in Pakistan's Lahore city jailed an artist for having long hair.
    © Twitter/Natasha Javed
According to reports, the artist, performer, and teacher, Abuzar Madhu had just been casually waiting for a rickshaw one fine morning before suddenly, a police car pulled up in front of him and took him to the police station.

Narrating the incident was his friend and child rights advocate, Natasha Javed, who said the police arrested him just because he had long hair.
"Last weekend, my friend Abuzar was picked up by Punjab Police in Lahore. He had to spend a night in Model town police station, in a lock-up. Reason: his long hair.” she said in a series of tweets.

Abuzar asked the officer what the issue was. The officer continued to threaten and scare him by saying that he will find out the issue once he reaches the police station. That the issue was his ‘Hulia’/appearance, his ‘lambay Baal’ and that he is out on the street at 3 am.
    — Natasha Javed (@natashajaved1) June 7, 2021Abuzar kept explaining that he is a teacher and an artist. However, The police harassment did not stop and they forced him to sit in the van and he was taken to the police station.

The officer who checked him asked ‘thaanaydar Saifullah’ to let him go at his pint. But, no. He didn’t agree and instead asked his junior to put Abuzar in the lockup.
    — Natasha Javed (@natashajaved1) June 7, 2021Apparently, despite Abuzar answering all that needed to be answered, the police insisted on teaching him a lesson by locking him up for his appearance.
He insisted that he wanted to teach Abuzar a lesson for his long hair & appearance. That a Night in jail would be good for him to know that he dare not look the way he chooses to. Abuzar reached out to friends through Facebook to seek legal support before his phone was taken.

Jokes apart, this clearly displays the insensitivity and the attitude of a certain section of our society including authorities towards judging people on the basis of their appearances.
We really do hope Abuzar wins this battle and the police officers involved in the incident face the necessary actions.

Caught up in the pandemic that has literally ruined our lives, there is bound to be a feeling of loneliness and despair, especially if you are living by yourself.

Well, there may be a thing that might help you. Cuddle Therapy!

Yes, it exists. And, we hear that it really, really helps.

While of course, nothing's ever going to truly beat the state of lying down on the bed, holding your better half next to you, however, cuddle therapy could be the second-best option to help you feel a bit better about things.
The concept explores the use of physical touch to help reduce heart rate, blood pressure, symptoms of depression while also helping to increase the flow of happy hormones in one's body.

In what is a growing trend, under cuddle therapy, professional cuddlers are paid to cuddle with people as long as it is platonic.

One such cuddler, Keeley Shoup has been working in Chicago, USA, in the capacity for the last seven years to help people suffering from trauma and abuse.

Shoup, who earns around $100 per hour for an individual session has even explained how she loves getting strange requests from clients.

"I kind of love strange requests, because what that means is that that person trusted me enough to tell me a thing that they wanted. That is atypical in society, that means they have to trust me a lot."
"That means that I have created a space safe enough where they don't feel like I'm going to judge them. I love that. I want them to have places in their life where they don't feel judged."
"One of the rules that I have is that they can ask me for anything that falls within the code of conduct, and they won't be judged," said Keeley.

However, she adds that the requests should all fall within the code of conduct that she abides by and should not put anyone in an uncomfortable situation.
"I'm not going to say yes to everything, I'm still going to check in with myself and see whether this is something I can actually do wholeheartedly - I'm not going to do anything that I will resent them for.
"I will hold my own boundaries, and I will never put myself in a position where I'm uncomfortable.
"That gives them the freedom to ask for anything," said Keeley.
Well, while you're out wondering what exactly falls under the range of strange requests, Keeley explains how they aren't sexual and are usually things that adults typically shy away from doing.
"I've had tickle fights with clients before. That's something that's kinda atypical or out of the norm."

"I've read books - like children's stories - because they wanted to feel taken care of in that way, and that was a thing they remembered from childhood that was really reassuring and nurturing. I've wrestled around like a puppy with someone before, just to get that sense of play. I say 'weird' in the most loving way possible. One that I think most people resonate with but don't think of it was... when you were a kid, you'd draw on someone's back and they had to guess what shapes [you were drawing]. That, I love doing, but it's not something that adults typically do," said Keeley.

Akshay Kumar recently took to Twitter to dismiss a news report that claimed that he has reduced his fees for his upcoming movie. The report said that Akshay had agreed to reduce his fees by Rs 30 crores for Bell Bottom. The film was shot in Scotland last year.
Akshay Kumar didn’t confirm the number on his tweet and called the report fake. He took to Twitter and wrote, "What waking up to FAKE Scoops feels like!"

What waking up to FAKE Scoops feels like! 🥴 https://t.co/jxn1cXT6as
    — Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) June 14, 2021
According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, producer Vashu Bhagnani had requested Akshay Kumar to reduce his fee and the actor agreed to the same. The report also said that Akshay Kumar had quoted a fee of around Rs 117 crores for the film, which was later elevated to Rs 135 crores.
Vashu Bhagnani also tweeted that there is no truth to the report at all.
The report quoted a trade source saying, “Being primarily a film that caters to the tier 1 and 2 cities, Vashu Bhagnani wanted to keep the budget in check and hence, he requested his leading man, Akshay to scale down his acting fees by ₹30 crores, as the rise in budget aside, there looms a lot of uncertainty on the release too. If theatrical, it's a given that the film wouldn't earn what it would have in a normal scenario."
The source also said that Akshay had graciously agreed to reduce his salary, keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation. It also said that the film turns a profit, he would be reimbursed for the discount. But, if the film doesn’t perform well that he will only be able to make around Rs 80-90 crore.
Here’s what people have to say about this-
