Sushant Singh Rajput has left a void in people’s lives who genuinely loved him for his aura. A year has passed by already and it still feels like yesterday that the news started to flash everywhere that the beloved actor is no more.

When my father informed me of the news that Sushant is no more, I told him that he must have got it wrong for sure or it must be a hoax.

I knew Sushant and we had the most meaningful conversations whenever we met or talked on the phone. The news of his untimely demise pierced right through my heart and Sunday (14th June 2020) couldn’t have been any worse.

His death did start many important conversations in Bollywood and many aspiring actors started to raise their voices against the injustice in the industry. Sushant has always been an important anchor for many youngsters who dare to dream big and make it big in Bollywood, without any strings or a godfather.

In an industry dominated by star kids, Sushant made his mark with movies like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kai Po Che, and Chhichhore in a very short span of his career.

He lived his characters and you could witness the entire metamorphosis in Sushant. More than just living his characters and giving them a new meaning, he was a man of wisdom and his words can give you a completely different outlook on life.

It’s his thoughts that will continue his legacy and will be passed from generation to generation.

1. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he had earlier said, “The closest synonym of happiness is excitement, and you can generate it by doing something that you can't completely comprehend. This understanding makes the process rich and exciting. So, you stumble over something new, and then work on it and make it your own.”

This is an amazing thought and it can completely change your outlook of seeing a particular situation if you implement it in your life. We have been living a monotonous life and if we manage to generate excitement, we have done half the job of lifting our spirits up.

2. We all have goals but when we accomplish them, all we find is a dead end. I really loved how Sushant explained in of the interviews that happiness is not about achieving the very goal you have been desiring for ages, but it’s the process that keeps you going.

In an interview with Indian Express, he had said, “I really wanted to buy a Range Rover. It was a big dream, and the day I bought it, I was very happy, but by evening, I was immune to it. That’s when I realized that excitement if it’s happiness, is not in reaching the goal but in the process. Thus process trumps over realization.”

3. In a particular press conference, he had said, “To be able to make statements, you need to be confident about what you think. You need to have a sense of right and wrong.”

This one especially hit me the most as many people choose to let go of morality when they make statements and the key to success is to have a sense of what’s right and wrong.

4. He had shared this thought in an interview with HT and we really need to understand the depth of it.

He had said, “We should never forget the inevitable, as we will lose everything, eventually. So, why fret over any kind of security? The idea is to just fly and experience it all while it lasts.”

It’s so true that we have been holding on to what next but it’s the truth that we will lose it all so it’s better to enjoy the experiences life is throwing at us on a daily basis.

5. It was in 2015 that he had said in an interview with HT, “Everybody is in a hurry to decode you in a certain way, and then they expect you to adhere to their definition. How can they possibly do that when you yourself are finding it hard to discover yourself?”

This statement holds true to every generation as we keep judging others but in reality, we are yet to have a grasp of our own selves.

These five statements by Sushant hit you completely differently. Which one do you relate to the most? Let us know in the comments section below.
