The England cricket team has come under immense pressure from the public after a barrage of racist and sexist tweets from the past have returned to haunt a few of the players.
After the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the indefinite suspension of new-comer Ollie Robinson for discriminatory remarks made by him over eight years ago, big names such as limited overs skipper Eoin Morgan, and veteran pacer James Anderson have emerged in bad light.

However, it seems as if these players’ misfortune is not restricted to the potential actions that may be taken against them by their own cricket board but also have a trickle down effect on the various Indian Premier League franchises these cricketers are playing for.

Case in point, Morgan, who not only leads the English squad in white-ball cricket but also the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, may find himself in hot waters for mocking the way their Indian fans speak English.
    Here’s how KKR fans reacted:
    Should be done....
Hate morgan, respect for baz lost....

    — Rohit (@rohit_0718) June 9, 2021To make matters worse, the head coach of the two-time champions, Brendon McCullum was also a part of the racist conversation with Morgan and even though none of the active New Zealand cricketers are a part of the racism row, McCullum’s chances of facing the heat seem high.
"We don't know enough about it to comment at this time. Let's wait for the process to be completed to get all the facts before we jump to any conclusions. Just to reiterate, the Knight Riders organisation has 'zero tolerance' for any sort of discrimination," KKR CEO Venky Mysore told Cricbuzz on Wednesday.

"Although there are questions over the precise context of the tweets, they were written at a time when Buttler and Morgan have established England players and have caused offence on social media," a report in UK Telegraph said about the two English players' Twitter comments.
"Since we were alerted to offensive tweets last week, a number of historical social media posts by other individuals have been questioned publicly as well. There is no place for discrimination in our sport, and we are committed to taking relevant and appropriate action where required,” the ECB wrote in a public statement.
“Given the concerns which have been raised are clearly now broader than a single case, the ECB will discuss how we deal with issues over historical social media material in a timely and appropriate manner. Each case will be considered on an individual basis, looking at all the facts. We will assess cases with the ECB before making further statements," an ECB spokesperson said.
