Somedays you just want to laze and watch a larger-than-life movie with an ensemble cast like a K3G or a ZNMD, but on some days, watching a movie which is relatable on so many personal levels becomes a privilege we all want to savour. It's not every day that Bollywood does a great job at showing the problem of the β€˜aam aadmi’ but here 5 brilliant movies which realistically depict exactly that, and do a great job with it:

1.Β Khosla Ka GhoslaWe all know a certain β€˜taya ji’ or a β€˜chacha ji’  who have been duped in terms of property and investment. This is one comedy movie which throws light on the reality of what a common man endures in his life, in a super realistic way. Some of our parents save money all their lives to build a home for the family and naturally, if that is taken away illegally, it would shatter anyone. This movie makes you laugh and reminds you that not all business deals are legit.

2.Β QueenOne of the two reasons why this small budget movie broke records (besides Kangana’s brilliant act) is its basic storyline. Sure, the twist in the tale where the bride, when abandoned on her wedding day, decides to go for a solo honeymoon might be slightly exaggerated, but it is a very real issue that so many women, as well as men, face in their lives. The movie teaches you a simple thing, i.e- if you don’t take control of your life, the society will do it for you. Setting yourself free and not seeking constant validation on β€˜log kya kahenge’ was a great reminder.

3.Β Oh My GodI guess a movie like this won't be made again in Bollywood but this one represents the blindness of religious leaders or what one calls β€˜andh bhakt' in a very simple way. This film explains how the β€˜aam admi’ is ready to spend his hard earned money on religious leaders in order to make the almighty happy, and forgetting the fact that these so-called duping souls can not be a catalyst for attaining β€˜moksha’.

4.Β Dum Lagake HaishaExtremely relatable is how one can best describe this movie. A simple boy marrying an overweight but very educated woman, setting eyeballs rolling and people judging her for her weight. Sounds familiar? That’s because this is a very common situation in the society, in urban and in rural areas, where women are targeted with body-shaming every second. This movie celebrates love in a beautiful manner, and that is all that matters.

5.Β Aankhon DekhiThis movie depicts the everyday struggle of the common man who is just trying to make ends meet and do things according to a certain societal perception. The whole β€˜log kya kahenge’ and succumbing to herd mentality is wonderfully addressed in this heart warming tale of a father who is resistant to allow his daughter to marry a man of her choice. Everything changes when he meets him and realises his pre-conceived notions were wrong.

When it comes to airport dressing, there are several B-towners who have pushed the sartorial envelope and stood out in some mind-boggling outfits, sneakers and accessories. The one who never fails to make a statement in doing so is Arjun Kapoor. Often seen at airports in extremely fashionable looks, mostly experimenting with street-style ensembles, he manages to pull off whatever he wears

Apart from his clothes, oftentimes he has also grasped our attention to his zany sneakers as well as quirky backpacks. All of these never fall in the affordable range. Despite that, he has been a source of fashion inspiration for many and his style statement only keeps getting better. Why do we say that? His recent look is a clear example of that yet again. He was basically dressed in a simple outfit but man, his accessories and sneakers, did create an outstanding ensemble. Take a look.
    Β© Kickscrew
Starting with his sneakers, Arjun is seen wearing Nike Air Jordan 1 Mid BG

Basketball Sneakers. These sneakers come with a rubber sole and have a mid-cut, with a round toe and flat heel. The colour palette with accents of red, makes the pair look eccentric.
    Β© Kickscrew
Speaking of their price, these sneakers are worth Rs 12,401. Arjun has worn some insanely expensive shoes in the past but these ones are comparatively a cheaper option if you ask us.
    Β© Off-White
The backpack on the other hand is the most versatile addition here. This one is Off-White's camouflage backpack. This is a canvas bag that has the logo in stencil design printed at the front. Furthermore, it has twin adjustable shoulder straps and zipped pockets on the front.
    Β© Off-White
The cost of the backpack though will set one back a bit. It retails for almost Rs 53,825. This excludes the usual customs and import duties levied on the backpack. That's one costly backpack!

As for his outfit, it looks like Arjun Kapoor has started working on his next project Ek Villain Returns. His hoodie is customised with the movie's name written in bold letters at the back. He combined it with a white T-shirt and black pants. His transparent sunglasses with a simple neck chain added more appeal to his look.

Overall, every piece here is in harmony and Arjun is clearly giving us a masterclass on how to dress for the airport. Kudos to that!

Gangster movies have their own appeal of narrating tales inspired by real life events which wreaked havoc to humanity. While Hollywood has done a far better job in depicting gangster history, Bollywood has decently managed to make a few movies loosely based and inspired by true gangster lords. Here are 5 movies which were based on real life gangsters:

1.Β CompanyThis super hit movie which was a big aesthetic surprise for people back in 2002 was rumoured to have been based on the real life friendship of underworld lords Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Rajan, who were pretty close knit prior to the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The movie stars Ajay Devgn and Viveik Oberoi in the lead roles and tells the tale of two gangsters who managed to stay close friends before falling apart.

2.Β Shootout At WadalaThis Sanjay Gupta venture was supposedly based on the life of Mumbai gangster Manya Surve. The fictionalised account follows Manya, who is in prison for killing a gangster who attacked his brother. When Manya finally gets free, he forms his own gang and vows to seek revenge.

3.Β Black FridayThis is one of the most authentic accounts which showed how the city of Mumbai fell under the shadow of the Mafia. Based on S Hussain Zaidi’s book, this Anurag Kashyap movie is a well researched project which depicts how the Mumbai’s gangsters were linked to Pakistan’s intelligence set-up. The film covers the 1993 blasts and the riots which broke after it and also depicts how Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon were attached to its execution.

4.Β D DayThis is yet another attempt at depicting incidents from the lives of Dawood Ibrahim. This one has Rishi Kapoor in the lead role who is essaying the character of Iqbal Seth, a fictional character. The movie follows Indian agencies trying to capture him and the mission falling apart due to some miscalculations in the plan.

5.Β Once Upon A Time In MumbaiThis one is inspired and based on the life of gangster Haji Mastan, who was the terror lord in Mumbai back in the 60’s and the 70’s. The movie was obviously heavily fictionalised but the portrayals of Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi’s characters were inspired from the relationship between Haji Mastan and his disciple Dawood Ibrahim.

In a bizarreΒ chain of events that has plagued the MV Ever Given, one of the largest container ships in the world, the vessel has now been impounded or β€œseized” by Egyptian authorities, who are now demanding more than $900 million for β€œincurred losses.”

    Β© Maxar
On 23rd March this year, MV Ever Given, which is a Taiwanese-operated vessel flying with a Panama flag, turned sideways after losing its course, and got wedged between the two banks of the Suez canal, and ran aground, causing massive disruption in one of the busiest sea routes in the world.

    Β© AFP
The 200,000-tonne MV Ever Given got diagonally stuck at a narrow portion of the canal, due to bad weather, a sandstorm that made navigation extremely difficult.

In an earlier report, it was revealed that the entirety of the crew onboard the vessel were Indians.
    Β© AFP
It is estimated that for each day of the blockage, cargo worth $9.6 Billion was held up between Asia & Europe. That comes out to a total of $57.6 billion over the course of 6 days.

Egypt itself lost about $12-15 million in revenue, for every single day of that blockage. This figure does not take into account all the expenses of refloating the ship and tugging it to a safe harbour.
During all this, a total of 420 vessels were stuck around the north and south entrance of the Suez Canal. The grounding of the ship and the intensive salvage efforts are also reported to have resulted in significant damage to the banks of the canal.
    Β© AFP
The Suez Canal Authority, acting on a ruling passed by the highest economic court in Egypt, theΒ  Ismailia Economic Court, impounded the vessel and presented a bill of $900 million to the Japanese owners of Ever Given, Shoei Kisen Kaisha Corp.

Each year, Egypt earns about 5.6-5.8 Billion dollars in revenue, thanks to the vessels and ships passing the Suez Canal.
    Β© Britannica
As per a report by Reuters, the SCA, or the Suez Canal Authority, as well as the various insurers and the Japanese owners of the vessel are negotiating about the $900 million figure. The same report claims that the figure was reached by the courts, based on "the losses incurred by the grounded vessel as well as the flotation and maintenance costs."

Japan-based Shoei Kisen Kaisha, hasn’t released a statement on the impounding of the ship, nor about the sum they are being presented with.

"Imagine all the people living life in peace." While these words may seem hard to imagine, considering the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and the worldwide atrocities, these are the lyrics of a very famous song that continues to be very close to people from all walks of life.
The words are part of the song called Imagine by late legendary English singer/songwriter and peace activist John Lennon, who achieved worldwide fame as the founder, co-lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of The Beatles.

The Liverpool-born music legend suffered a tragic end at the hands of a person who posed as one of his fans back in the December of 1980. Despite the passage of decades, John Lennon's memory is as fresh as ever.

Now, what will be a treat for his fans and music aficionados alike, a newly-released footage from more than 50 years ago displays the rock legend working on an early version of the song called β€œGive Peace A Chance.”

The video, which dates back to May 25, 1969, and was recorded by cameraman Nic Knowland and sound recordist Mike Lax, features Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, singing the song's famous chorus, at the Sheraton Oceanus Hotel in the Bahamas.Β
The footage was just released to promote a box set called β€œThe John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band – The Ultimate Collection", which is reported to come out next week.Β
Soon after the release of the video, viewers posted their responses on the microblogging website, Twitter.Β
It looks and sounds so incredibly fresh. Feels like it could have been recorded yesterday. 52 years ago. Wow.

ALTBalaji is coming up with LGBTQIA+ two features; these include a series called A Married Woman, starring Monica Dogra and Riddhi Dogra, focussed on the same-gender love story between the two lead characters and His Storyy, starring Satyadeep Misra and Mrinal Dutt, also a gay love story. A few users complained that they were being released together.Β
Ekta Kapoor, who heads ALTBalaji, recently took to Twitter to post her response in defence of LGBTQ themed shows on her streaming platform.
This is for everyone who has been asking me why we are releasing two same gender love stories in a span of two months. To them, I would like to say that we do millions of opposite *** love stories & no one asks that.

β€” Ekta Kapoor (@ektarkapoor) April 13, 2021 Ekta shared a thread of tweets that read, β€œThis is for everyone who has been asking me why we are releasing two same-gender love stories in a span of two months. To them, I would like to say that we do millions of opposite-*** love stories & no one asks that. That’s how marginalized and lowly represented stories of the LGBT community are.”
    Β© Ekta Kapoor Twitter
She also added, β€œAcceptance for all kinds of love and ALTernate storytelling is what we, at ALTBalaji wish to showcase with our stories! Our recent launch, #TheMarriedWoman has been loved and appreciated by all! We’re humbled with the response of the audience and critics alike on our same gender love story!”

β€œHere’s hoping, our next show, #HisStoryy also makes a place in your hearts and helps people out there who are scared To be true to themselves. We hope you will give as much love to Kunal & Preet as you gave to Astha & Peeplika. Staying closeted could be claustrophobic, in a world where accepting one’s sexuality and gender choice is a constant struggle, let's normalize these love stories one step at a time. Thank you India for giving us this support and acceptance in this alternative storytelling space. As our favourite dialogue from #TheMarriedWoman goes- β€œLove is beyond everything. It’s beyond sexuality. It’s beyond conditioning. It’s beyond gender” #LoveIsLove,” she concluded in her series of tweets.
    Β© Ekta Kapoor Twitter
His Storyy recently ran into controversy after the show’s poster art was accused of being plagiarised from Netflix film Loev. ALTBalaji issued an apology for the same after filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane expressed his disdain on the subject. Loev director Sudhanshu Saria also mentioned the same on social media. The production house apologised for the error and called it β€œan oversight on part of our design team.”

In terms of controversies, the posters of A Married Woman were also accused of plagiarism (just like the recent controversy with His Storyy) and lifting the artwork from features like Ammonite and Persona.

There's a lot of buzz in B-town about Ibrahim Ali. Not just because he is a spitting image of his father, Saif Ali Khan but also because of his fashion game. He is often seen wearing some uber-cool outfits. From his flamboyant red pants to his super quirky sneakers, his style is rather unconventional and he can pull off almost anything with absolute panache.

Speaking of which, Ibrahim once again happened to wow us in a brand new avatar. The 20-year-old ruled hearts of many in a traditional, regal look which again reminded all of us of the younger Saif. Designer Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla shared a picture, in which Ibrahim can be seen flaunting his washboard abs in a front open jacket. He is wearing a patola mirror work jacket and resham threads on it. The upper is coupled with navy blue Pathani salwar.

The designers captioned the image and called Ibrahim "21st Century Boy". He kept his hair unkempt for this look and went sans accessories.

However, this isn't the first time Ibrahim turned muse for the designer duo. Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim both are often seen wearing outfits by them and have posted pictures in some classic ensembles. Take a look.
