Newly Released 50-year-old Footage Shows John Lennon Creating 'Give Peace A Chance'

"Imagine all the people living life in peace." While these words may seem hard to imagine, considering the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and the worldwide atrocities, these are the lyrics of a very famous song that continues to be very close to people from all walks of life.

The words are part of the song called Imagine by late legendary English singer/songwriter and peace activist John Lennon, who achieved worldwide fame as the founder, co-lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of The Beatles.

The Liverpool-born music legend suffered a tragic end at the hands of a person who posed as one of his fans back in the December of 1980. Despite the passage of decades, John Lennon's memory is as fresh as ever.

Now, what will be a treat for his fans and music aficionados alike, a newly-released footage from more than 50 years ago displays the rock legend working on an early version of the song called β€œGive Peace A Chance.”

The video, which dates back to May 25, 1969, and was recorded by cameraman Nic Knowland and sound recordist Mike Lax, features Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, singing the song's famous chorus, at the Sheraton Oceanus Hotel in the Bahamas.Β

The footage was just released to promote a box set called β€œThe John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band – The Ultimate Collection", which is reported to come out next week.Β

Soon after the release of the video, viewers posted their responses on the microblogging website, Twitter.Β

It looks and sounds so incredibly fresh. Feels like it could have been recorded yesterday. 52 years ago. Wow.
