    It’s not just the US, but the entire world is in an Obama hangover. No one can get over the fact that Trump has taken over and while prophecies are being churned out about what lies ahead in terms of the future for America, the Obamas are bidding adieu to the White House, albeit not to their responsibilities as a power couple, working towards making this world a better place.

    After being denied hotel rooms and forced to stay in Pune for another two days, Team India and the visiting English side were in for some more frustration ahead of the inconsequential third ODI at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
    Both the teams, after arriving in Kolkata on Friday, found themselves stuck in traffic for almost one and a half hours during their journey from the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport to the Taj Bengal hotel.

    A traffic snarl at Maa flyover on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass turned out to be the reason for the team buses getting delayed. Rapid Action Force personnel escorting the teams to the hotel were seen asking the motorists and bikers to maintain a safe distance from the buses.

    But the police had a tough time keeping the fans from getting too close to the team buses. The fans wasted no time and capitalised on the opportunity by clicking photos and selfies with the team buses.

    Traffic on the road from Science City to Park Circus was particularly bad due to the Bengal Global Business Summit which was being held at the Milan Mela grounds. President Pranab Mukherjee was in town for several engagements, while former PM Manmohan Singh was also in the city for the bi-centennial celebrations at Presidency University.
    Earlier, both India and England, were left stranded in Pune after their first ODI. The two teams were forced to stay in Pune due to unavailability of hotel rooms in Cuttack - the venue for the 2nd ODI.

    Post demonetisation, we have only seen people complain about ATMs running out of cash, but in a bizarre incident a bank in Rajasthan received a complaint from a guy, who received not double or triple but 20 times the amount he punched in the machine. Jitesh Diwakar, a resident of Tonk, Rajasthan, went to a Bank of Baroda ATM to withdraw Rs 3,500, but the bank decided to shower it’s ‘blessings’ on him and dispensed Rs. 70,000 instead. Wow! Now either this man’s stars are really powerful or the bank was overloaded with cash so it decided to do some charity work.

    When Diwakar swiped his card, he might have been expecting either the money or a receipt saying there’s no cash; hardly did he know that the ATM is going to be pouring money on him. Well, he isn’t the only one who got lucky, there were many others before him who received extra cash but it’s only Diwakar who chose to bring this to the bank’s notice. Others simply walked away with the extra cash, kissing their luck. Talk about righteousness and honesty? This guy has set the standards really high for us now. As soon as he got cash, he informed the Bank’s manager about this malfunction. It was later revealed that there was mix-up of notes when they were being deposited in the ATM – Rs. 2000 notes were loaded in the Rs. 100 slots.

    “Out of all these people, only one person contacted and brought the matter to our notice. We have taken a back-up of the ATM machine (records) from which we will get information of the people who withdrew money in these two hours. After tracking them we will ask them to return the extra money,” said Harishankar Meena, bank’s chief manager. While, talking about this technical glitch, he added “Technically, Rs. 2,000 notes cannot be loaded in the Rs. 100 cassette as the sensors won’t accept it. That’s why we have called technical experts to investigate how this happened.”
    Apparently, by the time the ATM was shut, it had already dispensed over Rs. 6 lakh cash. Meena also added that the bank will file a complaint with the police against those people who took away the extra cash and are trying to identify them. Well, we don’t know what’s worse – ATMs not having enough cash or we getting flooded with money that won’t even stay with us for long? Anyway, we really appreciate Diwakar’s efforts to bring this issue to notice and it should also become a lesson for the banks’ staff to pay more heed towards such technical glitches.

    Gujarat, this morning, saw 3.5 lakh Indians gathering in the Rajkot district to sing the national anthem. Let’s just say, it was a spectacle!

    All of them dressed in white, these 3.5 lakh Indians united to set a new world record of the maximum number of people singing the national anthem together.

    Back in 2014, Bangladesh set a world record by gathering more than 2.5 lakh people to sing their national anthem. With much pride, India beat Bangladesh and set the bar way too high with 3.5 lakh Indians singing the national anthem!

    This week the audience is gearing up to witness a clash at the box office between Hrithik’s ‘Kaabil’ and Shah Rukh’s ‘Raees’, and the opinion is divided amongst the fans. While it is already an established fact that the Roshans are miffed with SRK for releasing his movie with their production, there are some ardent Hrithik fans that have been rooting for him. The recent celebrity screening of the movie had every one falling in love with the revenge drama.

    With a crazy critical response like this, seems like the Roshans should not worry much about clashing with the King Khan. SRK is an audience magnet, but Hrithik has proved with time that his dad always uses the Midas touch and this duo is a power-packed combination of talent. ‘Raees’ and ‘Kaabil’ are releasing on 25th January.

    So, on Tuesday, the airport authorities at the John F Kennedy International Airport found cocaine worth $70,000 concealed in what should originally have been a box of delicious Tastee Jamaica Beef Patties. The twelve packages were wrapped in duct-tape and the box was found on one of the travelers at the airport.

    Looks like that particular passenger was looking to get really high and just wanted some Mexican food to go along with is. Sigh. During the passengers’ customs exam, the airport authorities found a box of Tastee brand Jamaican beef patties. On close inspection they found that there wasn't any meat in those patties. What they found was a truckload of cocaine! Talk about a lucky bust! 
    Clearly, the authorities had no beef with that, pun intended.

    So, this Bengaluru-based startup is offering every Indian an opportunity to leave their name on the surface of the moon for a price of INR 500 for each name! Yes, yes. And there’s more. 
    TeamIndus, a space startup based in Bengaluru, is set to engrave the names of each and every donor who signs up for the above mentioned amount, on a small-sized aluminium device that is to be placed on the moon when their lander descends on its surface.

    Set to travel for 3.84 lakh kilometers on December 28, 2017 for a soft landing on January 26th 2018, the mission will be entirely crowd-funded. With 10,000 names already in the final list, the company is looking to take their profits sky high. Pun intended!

    Driving on Indian roads is a pain in the neck. From unruly drivers shouting abuses to stray pedestrians who decide to cross roads in the middle of traffic, Indian roads never have a dull day. Kudos to you if you’ve been able to keep your cool so far. As if that’s not enough, finding an address is never easy, no matter how amazing Google Maps is.

    When you have to find something like ‘Pappu mithaiwala’, whose shop is next to Dimple Beauty Parlour on Sanmati Lane, it’s understandable if Google Maps doesn't help you. It’s sensible to switch to our own desi Google Maps, which is, the Indian janta!
    We in India are a helpful society. We provide help even when not asked for it. Unsolicited advice is our favourite pastime. But we aren’t always very forthcoming when actually asked for help. If you have ever asked for directions on the road, you’d know what we are talking about.

Today he has published his predictions for 2017 and some of them are crazy as hell. He published his prediction on psychics.co.uk and some of the predictions include:

Chris Morlong, the founder of Money.co.uk, revamped his company headquarters into a fantastic castle, which has its own ‘Star Wars’-themed theatre, an ice cave, Rolling Stones-themed washrooms and much more. The revamp, for which he hired celebrity interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, cost him a whopping £3million.

    Mike Tyson’s controversial life has been the subject of numerous documentaries and many still wonder how he blew $300 million in just two years. In his autobiography ‘Undisputed Truth’, however, there are a lot of instances which prove why his lifestyle was not sustainable by any standards.
    Take, for example, how much *** he was having between 1992 and 1995. He reveals in his autobiography that at the time, before going to prison in 1992, he was sleeping around with 15 women every day and that he was having ‘so much *** that he was too tired to even go to the gym and work out.’

    You know how Milind Soman is. The man lives fitness. From endurance running and cycling to swimming, he’s crushing distances after distances. Running cross country distances is kind of his weekly habit at age 51. If you are sedentary, live off junk food and addicted to a poor lifestyle, you should definitely look up to Milind for some serious inspiration.

    Anyway, this time Milind Soman isn’t in news for running distances equal to how much a fat dude would walk during his entire life, in a day.   Staying true to his nature of a fitness guru, Milind is nowadays asking his fans to do push-ups when they ask him for a selfie. He only clicks a selfie with them when they are done doing push-ups on the spot while he watches over. There can’t be a better bargain and way to motivate people to get fitter.

    As you may read from my previous blog posts, I have been sick for the past few weeks and was unable to train for the marathon tomorrow. I suffered a stomach and chest infection thanks to the Delhi weather which has forced me to retire from the run.  I was supposed to compete and beat my competition from the Indiatimes and Health Me Up team; however, it seems like it would not possible anymore for me to represent MensXP at the race. However, we do not give up that easily.
    Yash Sharma, our fitness writer and contributor has volunteered to replace me and represent us at the race tomorrow (God bless his soul). Now in my opinion not only is he a good replacement but I feel he will do a better job at it than I ever could. Just look at him!

    So, just to let our competition know what they’re are up against, Yash Sharma is a national football player which means he can run for days. Apart from being a footballer, Yash is also a personal coach who helps people with health and fitness. Judging by his pictures, it seems like he knows what he is doing. And, to add another notch to his belt, Yash can bench press 150 kgs. That’s double my body weight!

    Have you ever been in a fight? I would like to think that most of you reading this have gotten into at least one nasty scrap in your lives. I know I have. And honestly, it was probably the most exhilarating thing that I have ever been a part of. Forget about your weekend drug binge in Goa or your brain-melting party in some farmhouse somewhere, the act of physical combat is like no other high in the world. Nothing comes even close. NOTHING!
    Remember in ‘Fight Club’, when Tyler Durden waxes poetic about the ‘virtues’ of fighting? What was the quote again? Something about walking in like a wad of cookie dough and leaving like you’re carved out of wood? Yeah that’s the one. Well, the men and women fighting in the Super Fight League on the 20th of January had walked out of Fight Clubs all across the country long ago and are clamouring for blood at this point. They made their way to New Delhi to test their skills in the constricting confines of a cage; the prophetic battleground, so to speak.

    Indian Mixed Martial Arts has come a long, long way. Back in 2006, in the musky and testosterone filled gyms in Mumbai and Delhi, there were already a ton of ‘smokers’ or fights that were unofficial and unsanctioned. Guys walked in with egos that could crush a tank and left the mats, broken and bloodied, never to seen again. Those were the wild days of Indian MMA. And boy, were they wild! Fast forward to 2016 and the Super Fight League is setting up shop in the heart of New Delhi. The venue is the famed Siri Fort Auditorium and there is an entire month’s worth of fisticuffs for Delhiites to sink their teeth into.

    Under new management and a new vision, the minds behind India’s biggest Mixed Martial Arts promotion have revamped the show and signed on the country’s most dangerous and skilled fighters. Divided into 8 teams, each representing a different state, these men and women will be pitted against each other in epic battles that will definitely change their lives. For better or worse.
    On this cold Friday evening, the Delhi Heroes were up against the Haryana Sultans. Led by the infamous 9 second knockout internet sensation, Jason Solomon, the Delhi team were up against a stiff test. The fighters from Haryana looked to be ready for war and by god; it got hostile in the cage real quick.

    The Haryana Captain was up first and he delivered in spades. Narender Grewal grew up kickboxing and practicing Wushu and eventually moved into MMA at the age of 20. He made his debut in 2012 and possesses a record of 6 wins and 1 loss. A rare blend of aggression and technique, Grewal pieced up his opponent with a slick uppercut and smashed him on the ground to give Haryana its first win.
    The featherweights (65 Kgs) were up next and although it was a rather uneventful fight between Delhi’s Jacky Gahlot and Haryana’s Pawan Goyat, it set the stage for the women to walk in and take care of business. Daisy Singh and Sushila Dahiya put up a decent scrap but the technique shown was just not up to par. Both women gassed out in the second round and it led to an all-round tepid affair.


    The following tussle pitted experienced veteran, Rajinder Singh Meena from Delhi taking on Farhad Hazratzada from Haryana by way of Afghanistan. It was a quick fight and it showed that if you’re not someone who trains day in and day out to crush fools, then you’re not cut out for MMA. Period! Farhad steamrolled Meena and essentially strangled him silly with a rear naked choke and forced the Delhiite to yield in under three minutes. As soon Farhad leapt for joy, I could see the agony and heartbreak in Meenas face. This was a man that couldn’t believe he’d just lost. Frustration and anger poured out of his eyes and one could feel his pain, just for the briefest of seconds. This is the moment that everyone has had to face at least once. Knowing that there was nothing you could do to stop the inevitable.

    Jason Solomon had been viciously knocked out back in 2015. An opponent change at the last minute forced him to alter his tactics and it just wasn’t his night then. A brutal right hand by Amitesh Chaubey laid him out and had people wondering if Solomon would ever step into the cage again.  Thankfully, it was a little different this time around. Matched up with a concussive striker in Amit Kumar from Haryana, Jason had to survive the storm of all storms when Kumar looked to repeat the KO that shocked the world. He had Solomon in all kinds of trouble as he cracked him with nasty rights and lefts but couldn’t put away the Delhi native. Eventually, Solomon found his groove, landed two knees but was dropped yet again with a left hook. This time Kumar engaged him on the mat and found himself eating punches till he gave up his neck was choked out by Solomon. The crowd erupted as you could clearly see that the multitude of fans were there because of the brash Delhiite.


    It was a redemptive performance from Solomon as he tries to put the viral video of him getting knocked out behind him. It wasn’t easy but he got the job done.
    The final fight of the night saw Canadian Matt Baker apply a slick triangle choke as he shifted off mount and made his opponent tap out in a minute. It was a quick fight that left the masses salivating for more.

    Look, this isn’t for everyone. It’s tough, it’s brutal and it’s not for the faint of heart. Broken bones and bloody noses are just an occupational hazard and that’s how it goes. From great pugilists like Muhammad Ali and Pernell Whittaker to the modern masters of Martial Arts such as Demetrious Johnson and Jon Jones, professional fighting showcases elite superhumans who also happen to be stone cold killers. Make no mistake, you’re nothing going to punch out or smash a professional fighter no matter how many bars you’ve bounced at. It’s not going to happen. You’re more likely to end up in the emergency ward. So look, enjoy these athletes from the safety of your couch because when you’re watching two people trying to kill each other right in front of you, at some point, even you are gritting your teeth and calling out for blood.     Glenn Mcgrath, one of the best medium pacers the cricketing world has ever witnessed, has some juicy details about how he was sledged by none other than Sachin Tendulkar. Speaking during an interaction at the Chennai International Centre, McGrath said, “I think there is no bigger insult than saying to an Australian that he is a bad loser or a cheat.  Even Indians sledged. I was even sledged by Tendulkar in English.”
    While Tendulkar was always a little subdued on the field and maintained composure while dealing with the feisty Australians, he didn’t hold back that aggression while batting.

    Further adding to the issue of sledging, McGrath said, “When I was commentating, I asked Michael Vaughan (ex-England skipper), are the Australians worst sledging team in the world. He said `No'..and that we are not bad...but he did say Sri Lanka was the worst. I don't know if it was to do with any England-Lanka rivalry...But they didn't get caught like us! But if we played India or Sri Lanka, they would say something to us but no one would see it...but if we responded to it, then they go to the umpire saying things.”

    Whatever be the case, nobody would contest that Australians are the best of the lot when it comes to sledging and that it would be a great weapon on their tour to India because everyone knows how difficult it would be to counter Ashwin and Jadeja in these conditions.     In his speech, this is what he said:

    Donald Trump channeled Bane in his speech. Not Batman, not the Mayor, not Officer Jim Gordon, no. He channeled Bane and we don’t really know how much coincidence is. Or worse, what kind of evil coincidence this is.

    There have been plenty of iPhone 8 rumours floating around the internet, for example, there are expected to be three versions of the next iPhone which is scheduled to launch later this year. Previous rumours suggested that there would be one 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and two 5.5-inch variants and one of these will also sport an OLED display.
     The iPhone 8 will also come with a glass back and stainless steel chassis as suggested by previous claims. The handsets are expected to have a complete overhaul when it comes to the design and looks.

    However, latest reports suggest a new feature that was previously unknown. The new iPhones are expected to have wireless charging. Lite-on will be one of the suppliers that Apple is going to be using for wireless charging components.
    “Taiwan-based Lite-On Semiconductor, a maker of discrete and analogue IC components, has entered the supply chain for the next-generation iPhone 8 by providing GPP bridge rectifiers for the support of fast wireless charging, according to a recent Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
    Lite-On Semi has reportedly obtained half of the orders for GPP bridge rectifiers that will be used in the wireless charger for the upcoming iPhones, the report cited industry sources as saying."
    The new iPhone is expected to launch in September 2017 and we will keep reporting on new information about the handsets when we come across some more news.

    Deepika Chowdhury, India’s only International Federation Of Bodybuilding (IFBB) figure pro athlete is going to represent India at the very prestigious stage of the Arnold Classic on the 17th of March 2017 in Melbourne, Australia.  After Mr. Olympia, the Arnold Classic is the second biggest bodybuilding championship across the globe.  Deepika bagged her pro card last year and till date, only 2 Indians possess the much coveted IFBB pro card, the first was Varinder Ghuman from Punjab.

    A molecular biologist by profession at the National Institute Of Virology, Deepika is based in Pune, Maharashtra and is an inspiration for several aspiring female athletes in India.  She has already proven her mettle at numerous international stages like The Steveston Metropolitan Championship, the Atlantic States Championship, NPC Eastern USA Championship and so on. In the upcoming championship, she would be sharing the stage with her own coach, Gennifer Strobo, who is also an Olympian.

    Deepika is a Team Bombshell athlete, which is the largest and most prestigious professional competitive fitness training team in the world. In our conversation with Deepika, she said, “I am really excited to represent my nation at the dream stage of Arnold Classic. I have been working really hard for this. The best part is, that I am going to share the stage with my own mentor, Gennifer Strobo, but frankly speaking, I am little nervous too." She also thanked Shannon Dey, the CEO of Bombshell Fitness company for her constant support to Deepika.  Well, Deepika has already been making India proud at the international stage.  Let’s wish her luck for her another upcoming international championship and let’s pray she comes back with another jewel to her crown.

    Andrew Hall suffered serious burn injuries after an e-cigarette exploded in his mouth while he was vaping. It cost him 7 teeth and 2nd degree burns. Here’s the graphic video of the complete incident.

    He also posted some visceral images from the incident on his Facebook page through a post which has since gone viral. 

     “I’m currently in the ICU and doing well,” he wrote. “I vape…I’ve been doing this for about a year now and assure you I did not do anything I wasn’t supposed to … but it exploded in my face.”

    “I’ve lost at least 7 teeth, 2nd degree burns to face and neck and have been pulling chunks of plastic, teeth and foreign objects from mouth, throat and lips,” Hall continued. “I was lucky and there was a huge amount of damage to the room in my house. ”

    For all those e-cig buffs out there, watch out because if Samsung doesn’t get you, these cigarettes sure will!

    It all started 8 years back as a scrawny kid at the age of 17. My uncle, who I have spent my entire childhood with, introduced me to the pull up bar and inspired me to use my body weight to work out adding in variations along with push-ups and running. I would follow his instructions and workout in the hallway near his room. He would coach me every single day for an hour. I would really look forward to training with him and soon it became a habit! Eventually I started working out in the society park and started researching about body weight training. That's when I was introduced to the world of Calisthenics. At the same time, I found my inspiration in life - Bruce Lee!

    I soon spent most of my time researching, studying and practicing his martial art form - Jeet kune do. My workouts would include pull ups, push-ups, dips, core and cardio. I kept improving the intensity by adding weights and performing the movements. I performed these movements for four years straight while studying hotel management in Bangalore at IHM. I soon realized that my true passion was the fitness industry. My diet would include meat, eggs, dal, rice and ghee. I've always loved animals and thanks to my aunt, who always did a lot of work for animal welfare, I grew up learning to show compassion to all animals. However I wasn't exposed to the slaughter industry or the goings-on of the world where animals are subject to so much cruelty for food, fashion, entertainment etc. It was in Bangalore that I came across articles about the slaughter industry and I realized that eating meat was contributing to this. So, at the age of 21, I quit eating meat but continued eating eggs and dairy because I still didn't know how to build strength and muscle without consuming animal protein. While in Bangalore, I also studied Krav Maga - an Israeli martial art and developed my skills. When I moved back to Pune after my hotel management degree, I would travel to Mumbai every weekend to further study Bruce lee's Jeet kune do under Bruce Lee's student.
     

    I also did a certification in fitness and learned body building techniques and body mechanics. Within a month, I was squatting and deadlifting as if I had been lifting weights for a year - this was all thanks to the years of Calisthenics. I started working at the functional fitness club Multifit as the core team member and head coach two years back and progressed in functional training and Calisthenics. By this time, I was more exposed to the cruelty in the egg and dairy industry and wanted to turn vegan. I just didn't know how to do so without losing muscle and negatively affecting my physical performance. It was then that I came across a scientific fitness based organization called Alpharaj and met the founder Aman Duggal.
     

     He helped me turn vegan and educated me on how to consume enough nutrients through vegan food and supplements to suit my workouts and martial arts routine. It's now been a year since I turned vegan. I have put on muscle and bettered my overall performance. I feel fitter and more at peace and eating plant based food has only further aided my growth and stamina. The only thing I recommend to people is that there are no shortcuts to a fit physique!

    Titled ‘A Colourful Landing on Pluto’, the video starts with a distant view of the dwarf planet, featuring its largest moon, Charon and leads to “an eventual ride in for a ‘landing’ on the shoreline of Pluto's informally named Sputnik Planitia”, according to NASA. 
    Maybe this is the prelude to an actual trip, no?

    The whole world is talking about President-elect Donald Trump’s swearing in and inauguration day ceremony. President-elect Donald Trump himself is talking about it (and I’m pretty sure he’s talking about it a lot more than most Americans are). So, what exactly is the swearing-in ceremony and what happens at Inauguration Day? It’s not anybody’s guess.

    It’s pretty structured and formatted. This is what it’s like. 
    The President-elect’s swearing-in is always held on January 20, every four years; unless it falls on a Sunday, in which case, a private swearing-in is followed by a public ceremony held the next day. 
    The oath is 35-words long and is specified in Article II, Section 1 of the U.S Constitution.
    “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
    The phrase ‘solemnly swear’ can be substituted by ‘affirm’. 
    The oath is taken on a Bible; although it’s not a constitutional requirement. Donald Trump is supposed to be using two Bibles—one that Abraham Lincoln used for his inaugural back in 1861, and one that was gifted to him by his mother as a child. The Bible is then held by the spouse, in this case, Melania Trump. 
    There is a worship service held on the morning of January 20 for the President-elect, post which he goes to the White House to meet the President for coffee. Together, they then accompany each other to the Capitol. The official ceremony is set to start at 11:30 a.m. sharp at the Capitol’s West Front. Six religious leaders are part of this ceremony that includes a Catholic cardinal, Black, Hispanic protestant leaders and a Jewish Rabi who pray together. 
    The ceremony sees the country’s leading decision-makers gather together in one venue for a few hours to witness the swearing-in of their president, while another cabinet minister, member of the U.S. Congress and another aide are flown out of the capital city to an undisclosed location. This is to ensure that in case of a catastrophe, the nation still has three political leaders left. 
    The oath is administered at 12 noon sharp and a 45-pound aluminium briefcase, containing the code of the formidable U.S. nuclear arsenal, changes hands during this time. After the oath, the U.S. Marine Band plays ‘Hail The Chief’ and the newly-sworn-in president is saluted with 21 guns. 
    The old President, along with his family, is immediately flown out of the Capitol while the new First Family attends a traditional luncheon.

    At 3 pm, the President and Vice President lead a traditional parade from the Capitol to Pennsylvania Avenue and finally, onto the White House. The President’s arrival at the White House will see new tapestries, décor and any other design changes that the family may have previously specified.
