Rahul ‘The Wall’ Dravid has proved yet again what a gem of a guy he is. On Republic Day, Rahul Dravid turned down the offer of an honorary doctorate degree from Bangalore University and his reason to do so was even more endearing.
Dravid, simply said that he wanted to “earn a doctorate degree” by accomplishing some form of academic research in the field of sport rather than receiving an honorary one. “The Honourable Governor and the Chancellor of Bangalore University had approved to confer an honorary degree on Rahul Dravid, former captain of the Indian cricket team, at the 52nd annual convocation of Bangalore University scheduled to be held on January 27,” the university stated in its press release.

“However, Rahul Dravid while thanking Bangalore university, for recognising him for the honorary degree, has in all humility declined to accept the honorary degree. He has conveyed that he would try to earn a doctorate degree by accomplishing some form of academic research in the field of sport rather than receiving an honorary degree,” the release added.
Twitter is full of praise for the Indian stalwart too.
Rahul Dravid isn't just a legend in cricket but in real life too. Rejects Bangalore university's doctorate, says, "Would like to earn it."
    — Sonam Mahajan (@AsYouNotWish) January 25, 2017 Declines a Doctorate and Says He wants to Research in Sports and then earn a Doctorate on His Own ?? How can one b so Good ?? #RahulDravid
    — Prithvi krishna (@prithvikrish) January 25, 2017 Rahul Dravid humbly declines the doctorate offered by Bangalore University! #selfless #TheWall #RahulDravid
    — Prasanna Chakravarti (@pochygr8) January 25, 2017 Good thing that Rahul Dravid rejected this honorary doctorate. Otherwise his name would have become Dr. Avid.

Dravid, who is currently the under-19 coach of Team India, has always shied away from recognition and fame. And, this instance just goes to prove why we need men like him in the administrative side of cricket

As Havildar Hangpan Dada’s widow stood in front of the President to accept the Ashok Chakra for her husband’s act of valor and bravery in the face of adversity, one couldn’t help but notice that he had left behind two beautiful children. Dada’s supreme sacrifice had left a family in bereavement and yet all that his six-year-old son wanted to say was that he too, like his father, wants to be an army officer.
On May 26, 2016, Dada, as Sabu post commander of 35 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), received orders from his commanding officer to block four infiltrators at 12,500 feet in the Shamshabri Ranges in Naugam. Along with his team, the 37-year-old havildar engaged the infiltrators in a fierce gunfight. He charged at the terrorists and shot two of them on the spot. The other two fled and hid behind some boulders.
Spotting the two terrorists who had hidden behind boulders, Havildar Hangpan Dada lunged at one. The two were locked in hand-to hand combat, slipping and sliding down the hill, till Dada finally neutralised his opponent.
    © Twitter
However, the fourth terrorist then sprayed bullets into him. Ignoring his grievous wounds, Dada pinned down the shooter and severely injured him. The terrorist was eventually killed but Dada too died of his injuries. "Dada killed three terrorists in the operation single-handedly and his action led to elimination of the fourth terrorist," the award citation said.
Dada’s buddy Lance Havildar Vareshang of Sabu Post recalls how he motivated the team to find the terrorists. “It was turning dark but Dada kept motivating us to look for the terrorists. 'We have to hunt them down', he told us."
But now that Dada is no more, laying his life for the ultimate sacrifice, his six-year-old son wishes to step in his father’s shoes. "I want to be an Army officer," Senwang, Dada’s six-year-old son says.
    © Twitter
What Senwang and his sister will remember now is the bravery with which their father fought and helped gun down three terrorists. A soldier’s son wishes to follow his father’s footsteps and for that we are forever in debt of this heroic family.

Fresh off his 2016 victory at the World’s Strongest Man competition, his fourth win till date, Brian Shaw recently broke a freaking record that he didn’t even train for. That’s brute, right? Well, what else can you expect from the world’s strongest man?
    © YouTube
Shaw was casually working out at this gym with 2015 CrossFit champ, Ben Smith, and a couple other incredibly strong dudes, when he decided to get on a concept 2 rower. With 2 big dudes holding down the rower from the front end and a couple of weight plates supporting the rower from crippling under his weight, Shaw started rowing. A couple of strokes in, Shaw decided to test his rowing strength by going for the world 100 meter rowing record. To no one’s surprise, he murdered the record. Yes, just like that, he took down the previous record of 13.3 seconds by cranking 100 meters at 12.8!
    © YouTube
Here’s the video of Brian literally ransacking the rowing machine!

The news hit the web and the rest is history. As you read this, the video is currently breaking the internet. Standing 6 feet 8 inches tall, consuming over 10, 000 calories a day and years of picking, pulling and pushing stupidly heavy objects does guarantee Herculean strength.

From being a state-level swimmer to a first class cricketer for the Maharashtra Ranji Trophy team, my childhood was immersed in sports. Cricket being my ultimate passion, playing for the Indian team was my only dream. I was at the peak of my career, when I injured my left knee while playing and had to undergo multiple-correctional surgeries. As a result, I was advised complete bed rest. From being a fast bowler to not being able to walk was devastating.

Although, physiotherapists helped me manage pain and resume walking, I could see large discrepancy between the doctor’s knowledge, physiotherapist’s application and the gym trainer’s ability to deal with my problem. None of them could really work around the injury to help me regain the athletic strength I used to possess. With 4 years of rehab work and 2 back to back surgeries, I still wasn’t back on the field. Besides the busted knee, I also had multiple bulged discs in my lower back (L4, L5) which meant no ‘deadlifts or squatting’ and a labrum tear in my right shoulder, which further meant no ‘over-head pressing’ too. So basically, I couldn’t do the movements that were essential to regain my athleticism. Despite my athletic background, here I was three years later, carrying 15kg of extra weight, heartbroken, depressed, feeling guilty about not being able to help myself.

The Experience Of A Newbie In The Fitness Industry
To start my fitness regimen, I sought help online and interacted with fitness experts. According to some - eating carbohydrates was absolutely forbidden. Some gave me a diet plan loaded with supplements whereas others advised intermittent fasting and other such extreme strategies. Interestingly, all the experts had research data to support their claims which was more confusing. This messed up my relationship with food and the way I thought about it. Similarly with training- I was given a traditional bro split of back-biceps, chest-shoulder triceps and legs and nothing particular to my needs. I was just another member of the gym doing the same workout as everyone else and not progressing much.
    A New Beginning
I was fed-up. I took the matter in my own hands and started studying sports nutrition and personal training. While studying, I started a sports nutrition store in my town where I also offered fitness consultation. In the last 3-4 years of consulting, I’ve met people ranging from the guy who needs supplement ‘only for biceps’ to the ones who needed supplements only to reduce belly fat. Some dudes come looking for steroids to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Their ignorant and single-minded approach encouraged me to further refine my knowledge which led to my transformation. I became process-oriented rather than goal-oriented.
    The Transformation
My transformation process took 2 years but the last 4-5-months of effort in right direction made the real difference. I never did anything extreme to reach there. For me, it was consistency that worked and goals which were realistic and achievable. From not being able to walk I worked my squat up to 1.5 times, and deadlift almost twice my bodyweight. This was not only a physical transformation but also a huge mental, emotional and spiritual one as well. I now provide online and offline fitness consultation to clients and injured athletes, with setting up realistic fitness goals and helping them achieve them holistically without any drug use. It’s not only the nutrition or workout plan that matters, it’s more about the person following it.

It seems like every other modern game is incredibly hyped and many times, the end result leaves us disappointed (Cough! No Man’s Sky, Cough!). However, there has been a game that has been in the minds of gamers for as long as I can remember and it's the spiritual sequel to 'Ico' and 'Shadow of the Colossus'. 'The Last Guardian' was originally in development for almost a decade and was finally announced at the E3 conference in 2009.

Ever since the game was announced, it's eventual release has been in turmoil and like every other fan; I assumed that we would never be able to play the game. However, in 2015, Sony confirmed ongoing development and we all went batshit crazy. Hell, I think I even threw my remote in disbelief.
The game was originally destined to come out on the PlayStation 3, but today it is one of most revered exclusives on the PlayStation 4. It was a long seven-year wait for all, and was it really worth it? Let’s find out.
Bafflingly Brilliant Much like its predecessor, 'The Last Guardian' is a puzzle-adventure game. You need to have a knack for solving problems so that you can proceed further. These puzzles and locations can be thought of as set-pieces as the narrative progresses once these problems are cleared.
    © Sony Computer Entertainment
As the player, you need to be strategic with your movement and the way you involve your massive cat-bird-dog thing. You need to motivate and encourage the befriended creature to move along with you and make it stand in the right places at the right time so that you can leap and grab those impossible ledges. The mechanics of the game are simple and straight-forward which is not necessarily a bad thing because the key focus of the game is its emotional and mysterious story.

You play as a child who finds himself in a very unusual setting and of course, the giant creature is right next to you. The very first thing you do when you wake up is to calm the creature down. You remove spears, free him from his shackles and name him Trico. You and your companion then embark on a journey to find out what got you there. Your eventual goal: get back to where you came from.
Compelling Storytelling © Sony Computer Entertainment
The storytelling of the game never gets in the way of the objective in hand. Since I already mentioned that the game is a puzzle-based platformer with massive sequences and set-pieces, you end up playing through the majestic universe very fluently which coincides with the story of the game. A lot of the puzzles in the game follow similar themes, however, the inclusion of your pet creature makes it exciting and thought-provoking. Trico acts as a companion who shares a unique relationship with your character. This is a story of a deep friendship between a creature and a small boy.
Trico as a companion fulfills the role he is meant to fill because of the great AI and movement. In fact, while playing the game, due to the nature of his size and movement, there was no way in hell this game could ever be published on the PS3. The creature behaves like a real animal, it gets angry, sad, happy, curious and sometimes even offers answers to puzzles. The movement of the creature can be described as majestic and detailed. You can even climb onto it’s back by holding on to its feathers.
A Marvel When It Comes to Graphics © Sony Computer Entertainment
As you can see, the creature is enormous and in order to reflect the finesse and nuances in behaviour and emotions, it takes a lot of computing power to achieve that. Which is probably why the game never released on the PS3 as it was originally planned. The game might be linear technically, but it feels massive. The outdoor locations appear vast in detail and scale. The art style also reflects that as it looks murky but attractive too, due to the nature of the style (Very Japanese indeed!).
    © YouTube
I am not going to lie, the game is not perfect as we did notice a few frame-rate drops here and there. However, these stutters could barely be noticed as I was too busy trying to solve the next puzzle. Apart from a few hitches here and there, the storytelling does more than makeup for it.
The Final Say © Sony Computer Entertainment
Now, when I first played the game, it did feel like a title for the PS3. But, I actually loved that bit about it. Today, every other game is an “open world” action adventure and this linear yet entertaining platformer came as a breath of fresh air in an already saturated industry.  You can expect up to 10-hours of gameplay and if you are stupid like me, you will often find yourself frustrated or scratching your head because of some really hard puzzles. Having said that, the game never halts your progress or makes you feel like a tool for your own inability to solve each puzzle. Hence, those 10-hours can easily be extended, depending on your style. Just remember, when the final scene plays out, you will never ever forget Trico. 'The Last Guardian' proves that the finer things in life are well worth the wait.

Fact: Anil Kapoor just doesn’t age. The 60-year-old, father-of-three, also knows how to keep himself relevant in the ever-changing entertainment industry—where roles are not really written for men (and women) over a certain age. But not for Mr. Kapoor who has branched out—and rightfully so—into producing movies. But as they say: once an actor, always an actor! And by the looks of it, Mr. Kapoor goes totally method for his upcoming role in Anees Bazmee’s ‘Mubarakan’. The romantic comedy—that also stars nephew, Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D’cruz and Athiya Shetty—will be the Anil’s first foray into playing an out-and-out Sikh character.

“Everytime I take on a new role the first reveal of the look is always exciting!! I present to you "Kartar Singh" of #Mubarakan !!!” Anil–who’s worked very hard with his stylist to get into the skin of the character—tweeted out in excitement. The movie is already gaining a lot of pre-buzz and we can’t wait for it’s release!

The Burj Khalifa, also known as the world’s tallest building, was lit up on Wednesday night in the tricolours of the Indian national flag. The official Twitter handle tweeted out last night “Tonight we celebrate India’s 68th Republic Day with a spectacular LED illumination of the Indian National flag on #BurjKhalifa! #India.”
The magnificent structure stands at 823 metres and was named after of the ruler of Abu Dhabi and the UAE, Khalifa Zayed Al Nahyan. The 68th Republic Day hosted crown prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayhan as the Chief Guest today and marks the strategic partnership between the two countries. The UAE signed the agreement today along with dozens of other pacts, which cover key aspects such as trade, security, defence, cyber space and energy. PM Modi stated that the two leaders have come to an agreement to continue to support each other and maintain the momentum of their relations. The two nations inked 13 pacts, which also include strategic cooperation.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said earlier in the day, “UAE is one of our most valued partners and a close friend in an important region of the world… We are working to connect the institutional investors in UAE with our National Investment and Infrastructure Fund,” Modi said, expressing gratitude to the UAE Crown Prince for taking care of Indian nationals living in the UAE as well as for granting land to build a temple in that country. “We also feel that our growing engagement in countering violence and extremism is necessary for securing our societies,” he added.

The Kirti Chakra and the Shaurya Chakra are peacetime gallantry awards, while the Yudh Seva medal is a wartime award.
The Army conducted surgical strikes on terror launchpads across the Line of Control in September last year, after a terrorist attack on an Army camp in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, claimed the lives of 19 jawans.
The strikes were widely hailed by as a strong move against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism, and the Army's new chief General Bipin Rawat has said it is prepared to use the tactic again if needed.

It has been speculated for two years that the Indian Navy was lobbying to get new fighter jets and now it has been formalised as the Navy is planning to publish an official request for carrier aircraft. The Navy is looking to purchase 57 Multi-Role Carrier Borne Fighters (MRCBF) for its already existing aircraft carriers.
Navy Chief Admiral, Sunil Lamba, has taken a concrete step to adding new warplanes and also decommission the MiG-29K’s at the same time. The official request states “The MRCBF are intended as day and night capable, all-weather multi-role deck based combat aircraft which can be used for Air Defence (AD), Air to Surface Operations, Buddy Refueling, Reconnaissance, EW missions etc. from IN aircraft carriers.”
The 55-page request clearly states that the Navy is now seeking a new generation of fighters with the latest technology to aid in warfare, payload and endurance. The Navy’s request of 57 new warplanes seems very serious and there is no surprise that the Ministry of Defence is anxious to issue licensed production under a technology transfer arrangement.
Currently, the Indian Navy’s portfolio of warplanes is not as extensive as other nations but here are some of the fighters the Indian Navy is currently interested in or are utilising.

    08th November 2016
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a ban on INR 500 and 1000 notes to be imposed within the next four hours.
Aside from the fact that the nation was in a state of pandemonium, there were fatalities.
What I’m trying to get at?
    Let’s see…
We’re in the 68th year of being a Republic. It’s a moment of pride and patriotism. We have the Indian flag hoisted high up, the national anthem being blasted out and national sentiments brimming from rigid nationalists who believe in doing absolutely anything for the country. Anything.
    © Reuters
That, right there, is the problem with our false sense of patriotism. What are we patriotic about, or towards? Our national flag, the national anthem, the sacrifices of our soldiers and founders? Are we proud of our government, our politicians, development of India as a nation?
Wait, what development?  Have we forgotten about the missing case of a Muslim student in JNU? He remains untraceable while the ABVP doesn’t really do much to provide his family with answers. Then, we have a nation ruled by politicians who consider it only fitting that women “call for” rape when they wear short skirts and socialize with men. We also have a nation that values the lives of its cattle more than the lives of its citizens. The cycle of interdependence and the biological food chain has got nothing on them. Let’s also not forget that we have a nation that has, at the helm of it all, appointed itself a Prime Minister who was once a catalyst in the Gujuarat riots. But, nope. Let’s uplift a ‘chaiwalla’ because it makes for an inspiring story.
Let this be known that after months, no, years of detesting our Prime Minister, I’ve come to believe in some of his policies. But I still don’t believe in our government, most of our politicians and least of all in the protectors of the law in our country. No one is better than anyone, true. So, who decided that Hindus were better than Muslims, or that cows were better than humans? Why not dogs, because they’re loyal to a fault? Or hens, for that matter? They have wings, too.
    © Reuters
We live in a nation where you can be lynched if you cannot stand for an anthem in the movie theatre because of a disability. We live in a nation where if a girl is out after 9 in the night, her work and the clothes she wears define her morals and the ratio of getting raped is directly proportional to her job and clothes. We live in a nation where Feminism comes with a false sense of entitlement and masculinity comes with being able to control women. Egalitarianism is defined by the number of zeroes on the cheques used to pay off crimes.
What patriotism?  Oh, you mean towards the soldiers who fight at the borders? What good is it doing? Are we closer to any false sense of freedom we might pride ourselves on than we were back in 1947? And how do you determine freedom when speaking your mind can get you death threats, living freely can get you assaulted and loving freely can get you massacred for honour? What freedom when the number of infants being killed is still strangely higher for the females. What freedom when the men in our country continue to treat women and animals like objects?
    © Reuters
If you want me to feel patriotic about the fact that we are a Republic who independently did away with the British regime of divide and rule, then tell me, how is our current so-called ‘democratic’ government uniting Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians?
Truth is, we are a nation that is harped on a false and trivialized sense of nationalism, drawn from how celebrities do us proud in Hollywood; never mind that our Olympic athletes are tiring out to do the same while getting paid a lot less. Truth is also, that we are a nation who finds it incredibly easy to post a patriotic status on Twitter, waiting to shame anyone with a sense of opinion.
Patriotism, my fellow Indians is very subjective, just like our misplaced sense of an egalitarian society is.
But, let’s act out and wish each other a very Happy Republic Day, hoping that each time we wish it out loud, on Facebook statuses, Instagram posts and WhatsApp messages, a farmer yields a healthy crop, a poor family living in the slum across the skyscrapers gets three square meals a day and that women find a man who offers her his seat without stripping her naked mentally.

The notorious rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal has dominated the tennis world for the past decade. The duo has won pretty much everything there is to be won in the sport while enthralling the fans with scintillating gameplay.
Now beyond their prime, both athletes are plagued with injuries and struggling to keep their bodies intact to push beyond their playing years. Fans who once called them the sweethearts of tennis, were now predicting an end to their glorious careers.
So, ahead of the coveted Australian Open this year, not many would have backed either of the two to come close to challenging the modern giants of the game in the tournament, let alone win it. And, they were probably not wrong there, given their recent outings in the sport.

Federer (35), making a return after a six-month break with knee problems, was the no 17 seed - his lowest position at a Grand Slam tournament. On the other hand, Nadal (30), who has been struggling for consistency, was seeded no 9 for the tournament.
But, none of the pundits or even the fans would have anticipated what really unfolded in the recent days of the ongoing Australian Open. The two tennis veterans seem to scripting an altogether different story in the tournament as they secured their semi-finals berth in the tournament.
    © Reuters
Federer inspired his fans to dream again by dismantling Mischa Zverev - the man who stunned world no 1 Andy Murray earlier - 6-1, 7-5, 6-2 with a clinical display of all-court tennis to reach his 13th Australian Open semifinal.
Chasing his 18th Grand Slam title, and first since 2012, the Swiss ace neutered his left-handed German opponent's serve-volley game to set up a last-four meeting with fellow countryman Stan Wawrinka.
    © Reuters
Following in Federer's footsteps, Nadal, too, showed his old-school class during his 6-4, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 win over Canada's Milos Raonic to reach his first Grand Slam semifinal since 2014.
The 14-time Grand Slam winner saved six points in the second set before dominating the third against his third-seed opponent. Nadal, who won the Australian Open in 2009, will now lock horns with 15th seed Grigor Dimitrov.

Though some might rue the chance to witness the Nadal-Federer tie in the semis, but given the fairytale run of these two tennis legends, we can probably expect the clash of the old school at a bigger stage in the final.

It dawned on me on a Sunday morning, as I lay awake in my bed…alone. I had woken up surprisingly early that morning; and sleep never came back to me. The level of alertness that I was astounded me to an extent. I had been going over my life the past few years. It had been anything but boring. The people I’d met; the places I’d been—in my head and on the map—it had culminated in that Sunday morning.
I remembered the first time I had ever loved someone who wasn’t my friend, or family, or pet. I remembered the first time someone who wasn’t my friend, family, or pet, loved me back. It was a very interesting thought. It made me realize something that day…
That there are, essentially, three different kinds of love.
    © Unsplash
    Here’s how I characterised them.
    1. The First  It’s the irrevocable kind of love. It hits you and it hits you hard. It’s like a gun to your head and a bullet to your brain. You’re shot; you’re wounded and only one person can ever heal you. It’s like being made aware of your own existence. It makes you realize that you could feel so much; you didn’t even know you had so many emotions in you. You didn’t know you could feel the things you feel right now, before this moment; this person. It’s new. You’re new. The world around you is new. You’ve been born for love. And so, you hold this person’s hand and stir up a storm; throwing caution to the wind, the earth and the fire. You’ll light up together and burn everything in your path even if it means you’ll illuminate each other’s hearts. It’s you and it’s them and no one and nothing else matters. You could create a world of your own, start a war with the world because you know you have this person and this person has you. You’re so blinded by their love that you block out all other feelings; all other realities. All you see is them; all they see is you. You’re a mirror staring into a mirror.
    © Unsplash
And then, the very storm you stirred up, uproots you. The fire you started burns your soul. The war you fought leaves you shattered and worn. Suddenly, the realities come crashing down and you realize that you’re holding a grenade. The gun goes off; the bullet gets out the other side of your brain and you’re falling to the ground… all by yourself. You’re crashing against the waves of the ocean and you’re drowning in the sea. You reach out to gasp for air but you’re suffocating and choking.
This is the kind of love that shows you can feel—in ways you thought were unimaginable. This is the love that shows you can hurt in ways that could break your heart into a million different pieces. Your heartbeat is never the same again. Your mirror is broken. And so are you.
    2. The Second   It’s the careful kind of love. You’re getting back up again; dusting the past off… with a little help. Someone walked past you and noticed you, fallen; struggling to get back up. They offered you their hand; so, you took it. They helped you back up. You learned to walk again; sure, there’s a limp in your walk; the bounce is missing. But, hey, you’re walking again. All thanks to this person. They’re always there, by your side. They offer you a shoulder to cry on; they give you their hand to hold. They hold you when you’re shaking and they carry you when it gets tough. They’ll smile to show you that there’s still hope. They’ll even wipe away the tears. They become your walking stick, your pillow to sleep and your blanket in the winter. They warm you in the cold and they shelter you from the rain. They know you’re not ready to get back out again; so they’ll go out there for you. They’ll stand in the rain for you. They’ll carry your burdens for you, hoping and waiting that you’ll share the load one day. They’ll wait. They’ll show you that you can still feel good; that all is not lost; that love still exists for you. All you have to do is reach out.
    © Unsplash
You’ll learn to feel again, for the first time in a very long time. And so, you’ll confuse that good feeling with love. You’ll substitute it with love. Because they love you back. Because. This love will have a reason. You will love them because. They become your comfort zone because you’re too scared to accept that you’re too wounded to go back out in the real world. You’re comfortable because they’re convenient. They’re your trampoline; your buffer; your sojourn. There will be reason to your love. And that’s when you’ll know; it’s never really love.
    3. The Final  It’s the kind of love that makes you realize why the first kind never worked out because you were blindsided; the second wouldn't work because it was a backup. This kind of love comes when you've fallen, and bounced back up; when you've grown into the person you were meant to be so you could meet the person it was truly meant to be. You’ve hurt in every way that you could and you’ve healed. But, you’ve learned to heal others along the way, too. You’ve been broken and bent; but you’ve put yourself together again. You’ve been scarred; but you’re done hiding them. They see the hurt; they see the scars. They show you theirs. They touch you in ways that you’ve never been touched; not just physically, but, mentally. They really see you and then, they see through you—all the facades you’ve been putting on, all the walls you’ve been building up come crashing down. They don’t wait for you to come to them. They demand you to meet them half way. They’ll open you up like a book they’ve been waiting for all their lives.
    © Pexels
From the first time you see each other, you know there was a reason why you went through life the way that you did. The broken roads led you to one another. The first and second kinds prepare you for this kind of love. And when you get it, it's about loving unconditionally. It's not about stirring up a storm, lighting up a fire, ro starting up a war. It’s about facing the storm together, even when you’re in the eye of it. It’s about igniting each the spark for each other and taming the wildfires. It’s about winning battles together and fighting each other’s demons. Yes, you will still fall. But you will never hit the bottom. You will fall; but only to rise together. It will be like standing at the edge of the cliff, knowing that you’re rooted to your spot, as long as you’ve got each other. It’s about riding on the waves and swimming the seven seas. It’s about loving, holding on and never letting go. It’s about fighting and making up. It’s about untying one another from the chains, yet not leaving each other.
That's the kind of love you want to wait for. It comes later than ever. And it will never come easy. But, when it comes, it comes to stay forever. It may not come at the time you want; but it will come when the time is right.

One of the most prominent modernist writers of the twentieth century, Virginia Woolf lent a soul to modern writing. Her novels often followed stream of consciousness and the stories moved back and forth in time, just like our memory does. One of the pioneers of stream of consciousness writing, Woolf charted the psychological and emotional journeys of her characters acutely, and also talked about post-war depression.
Most loved for her works “A Room Of One’s Own”, “Mrs Dalloway”, “To The Lighthouse” and “Orlando”, Virginia Woolf poured out her soul on paper. Her works have been translated in over 50 languages. Here are 11 quotes by her that are as beautiful as they are poignant.

Watched this special by #BoBurnham yesterday with some near and dear ones....... . Been thinking a lot about dating culture... social media culture... the way it has altered the way we interact.... curbed our inclination towards intimacy with strangers.... and then Bo said this!!! Read on.  The sync.  Just something to think about.  No hate. . . "What I found is that I don't think anyone isn't a performer!  I was born in 1990 and I was raised in America.  It was just a cult of self expression.  Everyone was taught to just express themselves and have things to say. I think everyone was taught that.  But then most of us discovered that no one gave a shit about what we had to say.  So we'd flock to these performers by the thousands because there are a few of us who have found an audience... and then I'm supposed to stand up here and tell you to find your dreams!!!! Like this is a meritocracy........ but it's not.  I lived a privileged life, AND I got lucky, AND I'm unhappy........... they say it's like the ME generation.  It's not.  The arrogance is taught.  It's cultivated.  It's self conscious. It's conscious of the self. It's social medias answer.  Everyone is asked to perform everything for each other all the time for no reason.  It's prison. It's horrific.  It's performer and audience melded together all at the same time. What do we want more than to lie in our bed at the end of the day and watch our life as a satisfied audience member??? I know very little about anything.  But what I do know is that if you can live your life without an audience, you should do it." . . All this I post on Instagram.  I know.  Touché.  Like I said.  No hate or judgment.  It just moved me.  I felt called to share.  Bless your day. . . Photo by @keegancrasto

Monica Dogra is the reason why naked portraits were invented.
"Instead of attempting to empower those born female by encouraging them to move further away from femininity, we should instead learn to empower femininity itself.  We must stop dismissing it as "artificial" or as a "performance", and instead recognise that certain aspects of femininity (and masculinity as well) transcend both socialisation and biological *** - otherwise there would not be feminine boy and masculine girl children.  We must challenge all who assume that feminine vulnerability is a sign of weakness.  For when we do open ourselves up, whether it be by honestly communicating our thoughts and feelings or expressing our emotions, it is a daring act, one that takes more courage and inner strength than the alpha male facade of silence and stoicism. . . We must challenge all those who insist that women who act or dress in a feminine manner take on a submissive or passive posture.  For many of us, dressing or acting feminine is something we do for ourselves, not for others.  It is a way of reclaiming our own bodies and fearlessly expressing our own personalities and sexualities.  It is not us who are guilty of reducing our bodies to mere playthings, but rather those who foolishly assume that our feminine style is a signal that we sexually subjugate ourselves to men." #WhippingGirl #juliaserano . . Blame it on our lifestyles; it’s hard to evade stress. Half of the present generation isn’t even aware that they suffer from numerous passive stress conditions.  The names may change but the truth remains the same; the majority of us are stressed out. When it comes to men, this condition goes through the roof. A very recent survey by the University College Of London, concluded that gaming is one of the best stress busters for men.
    © heatst
The study also discovered that men are less likely to take help or talk about their condition when compared to women. A whopping 29% of the male population resort to gaming to evade stress. What’s worse is that over 52% females took to stress depressant pills to curb stress.

The study comes as a rebuttal to those who think and propagate the thought that gaming has no social and psychological purpose whatsoever. With the advancement in the world of gaming, games have not only become fiercely realistic but have also given a platform to like-minded people to come together as a community. The growth of gaming has been evident and has its impact on individual lifestyles. More or less, a huge chunk of the male population will agree with the findings of this study.

Many people consider using a pattern lock system on Android phones secure and the best way to safeguard their device; however, according to security researchers it has been declared that Android devices using pattern lock systems can be broken in 5 attempts.
Pattern lock is a popular feature on Android phones, which is being used by millions as a way to protect their phones. Users have only five attempts before getting it right after which the device becomes locked for a short time.

Researchers from Lancaster University, Northwest University in China and the University of Bath in Germany have declared that attackers can break the pattern within 5 attempts. They can use video and computer vision algorithm software to unlock devices.
Attackers can secretly film the owner of a phone drawing the pattern lock and can then use software to quickly track the owner’s fingertip movements. The tracking can be carried out depending on the position of the device.

“Within seconds, the algorithm produces a small number of candidate patterns to access the Android phone or tablet,” the researchers said in a university statement.
“People tend to use complex patterns for important financial transactions such as online banking and shopping because they believe it is a secure system. However, our findings suggest that using Pattern Lock to protect sensitive information could actually be very risky,” said Zheng Wang, principle investigator and co-author of the paper.
Researchers from said Universities came to this conclusion when they evaluated data collected from 120 unique patterns provided by users. The researchers managed to crack over 95 per cent of the patterns they had collected, that too within five attempts.
“Contrary to many people’s perception that more complex patterns give better protection, this attack actually makes more complex patterns easier to crack and so they may be more secure using shorter, simpler patterns,” added lead author Guixin Ye from Northwest University.
However, if you feel that the patterns that you are currently using are fairly complex and feel confident that it cannot be broken, think again. Researchers could break all but one complex pattern within the first attempt. They even cracked 87.5 percent of median complex patterns. So beware and take a little more care when locking your phone.

I have always been highly passionate and inclined towards achieving my fitness goals. I was always a fat kid and that motivated me to change. I started working out at the age of 16 and it's been about 6 years now. Of course, I started from scratch with absolute no knowledge. Desi coaches guided me and I took advice from big dudes on steroids. I was doing everything that was best possible with my ability. Time passed and whatsoever, I did gain good amount of muscle. But I was still fat. There was a thick layer of fat over my hard earned muscles and I didn’t know how to get rid of it. Like every other dude, I was wondering about six-pack and a ripped to the bone physique.

I went to a number of trainers and all they would tell me was to use roids, each one of them. They almost made me believe that steroids were all that I needed to achieve my dream physique. I remember once out of frustration and eagerness, I went up to a supplement store to actually buy some steroid based tablets which apparently helped to cut off fat from the body.

Well today, I thank god that I pulled back and didn’t use any juice.
Finally, after lot of surveys and trials, I came across an instagram profile of an online coach whose profile claimed to transform people naturally. I was amazed to see his posts but at the back of my head I had my doubts. It was still hard for me to believe that that transforming naturally was possible. But then one fine day, I decided to start with his the online program while still in a dilemma about the whole concept of virtual training. The day I had registered in for the program, was the ultimate turning point of my life.

With decent muscle mass and a lot of fat to shed, my journey with Amrinder Singh started. I had my share of ups and downs but I never gave up. I trained day in and day out. Gave it all I had.I experienced doubt, pain, confusion and failure. Let me tell you, unless your girlfriend understands you, or you will be single.  You will be given props for your hard work and people will want you to do good but never better than them.

It’s not every day that you hear inspirational stories of selfless people, but when you do come across them, you just can’t help be in awe of their actions. One such person who has inspired many people with his good deed is Firoz Merchant, a Dubai-based Indian businessman who has pledged to spend $1 million i.e. nearly 4 million dirhams to help free the prisoners in the UAE. Now, before anyone starts having any negative thoughts about this guy, these people including some Indians were put behind bars for not being able to pay their debts. So, he is not helping any bad guy. Merchant, who is the founder and chairman of Pure Gold Jewelers, has in fact, already paid 150,000 dirhams to free 132 prisoners from Ajmaan Central jail.

The money that Merchant is going to spend will not only be used for people who are in jail for non-payment of debt, but also those who couldn’t come out of prison because they didn’t have money to return home despite completing their jail term. What’s more, Merchant will also buy tickets for them to go home, “I decided to pay off their debts and get them air tickets so that they can go back to their home countries. Funds to be made available will be against cheque bounce of up to AED 30,000 for rents, school fees, medical, car loan etc.” Apart from the tickets, Merchant will also be giving 100 dirhams equivalent of local currency for people to reach home. He further added, “Most of these prisoners told us that once they land in their home countries, they will need public transport to reach their villages. It only made sense to give them some petty cash so that they manage the last leg of their journey.”

Sympathising with their situation, Merchant said, “These people are unfortunate victims of circumstances and are not real criminals. They have ended up in jail because of debt-related cases and I want to do my best to send them back to their families.” These prisoners are said to be from India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Philippines, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Ethiopia, Syria, Yemen, Oman and Ghana. We truly appreciate the efforts Merchant is putting in to help those people.
