Team India's gruelling home season that began in September 2016 will reach its tipping point when the Australian brigade arrives in the country for a four-match Test series slated to begin next month.
The Indian side has already proved their dominance at home by thrashing New Zealand 3-0 in Test and 3-2 in ODI series. If that wasn't enough, the Virat Kohli-led team fired warning shots with a 4-0 Test series win against England. Even in the three-match ODI series, India leads England 1-0.
While it has been a team effort for the home side to achieve favourable results in the recent series, Indian spinners have arguably been the difference. With the subcontinent wickets providing assistance to spinners, the duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have proved to be the ultimate nemesis for the opposition batsmen.
With Australia next in line to tour India, the Aussies seem to be taking no chances against the world's no. 1 Test side. And in a bid to counter the lethal Indian spinners, Steve Smith's men will now be aided by a former Indian cricketer.
Cricket Australia has roped in Sridharan Sriram as a spin consultant for Australia's upcoming daunting tour. On the other hand, England spinner Monty Panesar has also been roped in to assist Steve O'Keefe in his preparations for the India tour.
As Smith readies his battalion for the daunting task in India, here's some insight into their latest appointments:

Sriram, the former Indian cricketer, was also part of Australia's coaching set-up last year during the World T20 in India and the tour of Sri Lanka. "Sri has worked with us on a number of occasions now all across our pathway system and he is currently in Dubai with our Under-16 team providing his expertise on sub-continental conditions. He knows our players very well and has a wealth of knowledge on the conditions that our players will face in India," Cricket Australia's high performance manager Pat Howard said.
Apart from Sriram, Panesar's services have also been procured specifically for Australian spinner O'Keefe. Panesar, who had a successful 2012-13 tour of India, picked up 17 wickets and played a crucial role in England's series win.
"Having Monty come up is a nice way to kickstart the squad's thinking about playing in India. We want the batsmen to be thinking about what the bowlers will be trying to do to them over there and Monty can engage them that way as well as with the bowlers," Howard said.

Pitches in India have historically supported spin bowling rather than seam or swing. A ball bowled at pace may not carry well to the wicket-keeper taking the slip fielders out of the equation. With limited grass and little assistance for pace, the wickets create a good turn which has been put to effective use by Indian spinners lately.
Barring the Northern parts of the country where the climate gets a little cold for two to three months, India, overall, hosts a tropical climate. Given such extreme weather, the heat doesn't allow moisture to settle in the soil which dries up and begins to crack.
Thus, Indian pitches are generally dry and as the match progresses over the days, the surface crumbles and assists spin bowlers with adequate turn and awkward bounce. Hence, visiting teams such as Australia, rely on spin consultants to tackle the threat posed by Indian spinners.

Even if the wickets assist the spinners, the ability of Indian spin maestros to put it to good use cannot go unnoticed. The Indian spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja have, over the past few years, done exactly the same for the home side. Their variations in line and length on a spinning surface have been the nemesis for the opposition batsmen.
During India's 3-0 series triumph against New Zealand in 2016, Ashwin claimed a whopping 27 scalps including three 5-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket feats. While Ashwin emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the series, Jadeja was only second with 14 wickets to his name.
But, their best came during the five-match Test series against the visiting Englishmen who were completely bamboozled by the Indian spin duo. Ashwin took 28 wickets including three fivers and a 10-wicket haul and was once again the leading wicket-taker followed by Jadeja who also managed to claim 26 scalps in the series.
Against a team that heavily relies on their spinners, Australia are clearly doing their homework. However, despite the help of their so-called spin doctors, the onus will ultimately be on their batsmen who will have to bat a perfect game to stand a chance against the likes of Jadeja and Ashwin.

Virat Kohli’s transformation from a talented young Indian batsman to an invincible force in all formats of the game has been quite remarkable. The Indian captain was at it again in the first ODI game against England where he along with Kedar Jadhav tore England’s bowling apart. It was an extraordinary display of batsmanship from both players and one particular shot showed Kohli’s prowess against any form of bowling attack in the world. This flick six off the bowling of Woakes evoked a feeling of disbelief among commentators and spectators alike:

Now that you know that we are talking about a superhuman here, these are the five reasons why I think it was the shot of the decade.
    1. Because It’s Not Possible To Hit That Far Without Using The Back Hand © Facebook
As Sanjay Manjrekar correctly pointed out during commentary, Kohli hit it with a high elbow without making it look like a back hand slap. That is what makes this shot really special because even though Kohli might have required superhuman arm strength to pull it off, it was essentially a flick which went for six.
    2. This Shot Defies The Laws Of Physics © Facebook
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction? Guess not. The only reaction this shot evoked on the pitch was Woakes’ disgruntled look towards his captain asking to take him off the attack. Virat Kohli didn’t even flinch once while taking the shot and it looked like poetry in motion.
    3. It Came Off A Slower Bowl. Isn’t It Ridiculous? © Facebook
The whole point of bowling a slower bowl is to deceive the batsman into a false shot. Virat Kohli not only read the pace of the bowl but also made sure that he chose the longest stretch of the ground to stamp his authority over the bowler. This guy is a freak.
    4. Talent Takes You Far But Kohli’s Hardcore Training Off The Field Has Worked Wonders For His Game Strength © Facebook
Kohli pulled off the incredible shot quiet easily because off the field his work ethic and commitment is unparalleled. Not only does he put in the hard yards in the gym but also makes sure that he gets better with every innings and learns from his mistakes. This is what he said after the game about the shot: “Yes (surprised myself). Many times (smiling). It has happened a lot. I can recall many moments when I felt like I didn’t do this. I don’t know how it got executed. But I have always spoken to the guys in the change room about the same thing. If you are focused on the goal, on the target you want to achieve, you don’t necessarily need to think too much about the game, in terms of your personal runs or where you stand in the game.”
    5. And No Matter How Much Effort It Took He Was Still Standing Still After The Shot, In Total Control © Facebook
Don’t we love it when a good shot fetches the maximum with the batsman in perfect control long after it’s been dispatched? Kohli stood there after hitting it into the galaxy like just any other day in the park. The way he transferred the momentum from his arms to the bat without much resistance ruining his posture or composure was just incredible. It was the shot of the decade by a true legend.

"Coming clean is my dynamic," writes the 44-year-old filmmaker who has been the poster boy for homosexuality in Bollywood, long, long before the invention of Instagram or Snapchat. Even though he’ll never say the three damned words, his extremely emotional tell-all memoir—co-authored by Poonam Saxena—is possibly the closest fans will come to knowing Karan Johar (and not KJO, his alter ego).
On Losing His Virginity  Karan Johar is not “proud” of the way he lost his virginity at 26. His lack of experience made him pay for *** in New York. An experience he describes as “nerve-wracking”. And just like anyone losing their virginity for the first time, he went at it again. "This time, I walked out with guilt. I felt miserable. It's not that the sexual release was fun. It just seemed a bit stupid; it seemed fake because obviously, the person assigned to please you is going to please you artificially," he said.

On *** Karan notes in his book, “People think that since I am traveling a lot, I am having a lot of ***. But it doesn't happen that way. A boarding pass is not a pass for ***. I am not in love with anyone anymore..."
    © Twitter
On His Fallout With Kajol  “I don’t have a relationship with Kajol anymore. We have had a fallout. Something happened that disturbed me deeply which I will not talk about because it is something that I like to protect and I feel it would not be fair to her or to me. After two-and-a-half decades, Kajol and I don’t talk at all.”
On Growing Up  "There was a big age gap between me and my father, and no one else told me about these things,” Karan notes referring to ***. Talking about his childhood, Johar continues, “I had a square group of friends: we were all very good girls and boys. We were the Gujarati bunch who would go for picnics. We were the most uncool, unaware and innocent lot!"

On Bollywood Karan openly writes about the fact that he was very “concerned” with what other film-makers did. He was always “jealous” and wished their films wouldn't do as well as they did. He was constantly troubled by Sanjay Leela Bhansali's brilliance and Raju Hirani’s writing skills. However, after all these years, Karan isn’t bothered anymore. "If I hear a film has done well, great. Good for you..." he maintains.
On Being Underrated  "I feel no matter what kind of films I do, I never get credit. It gets forgotten immediately afterward. I am still associated with popcorn, frivolity, NRIs and rich people..."

When Reliance Jio launched, it sent shockwaves through the Indian and world telecom industry as it presented very affordable plans for the 4G LTE only network. Reliance Jio is the only network that provides true LTE services and they have amassed over 72 million users in less than 4 months.
The service was launched in India 4 months ago where people stood in line for hours just to get their hands on a Jio SIM card. The company expected to garner 6 Lakh subscribers every day.
    © BCCL
However, it is not performing that well according to the company’s forecast and expectations as Ambani hoped to see over 100 million subscribers within these 4 months. However, Reliance Jio’s impressive ability to amass 72 million subscribers will cause a major disruption for the existing competition.
Airtel, India’s biggest and oldest network carrier has over 260 million users, followed by Vodafone who have over 200 million users.
    © BCCL
India is a very price-sensitive market due to which Jio was able to gain popularity amongst the youth. In fact, the company offered 1 GB of free data for free to new users until December 31st, 2016 (Now extended to March 2017) which was touted as one of the most customer-friendly welcome offers ever.
Although the company has been offering free data, it has also faced some major issues since users are unable to make phone calls to other networks. Being an LTE-only network, it also means that a lot of phones were unable to receive any signal due to the absence of LTE towers in many regions.

Until now, travelling from Chennai to Bengaluru would take over an hour if you take a flight or approximately 6 hours if you take the road. Would you believe us if we told you that you can cover the distance between Chennai and Bengaluru in 30 minutes! Well, we aren’t joking, neither are we talking about any magical carpet that can transport you this quick. This is actually a route that has been proposed by a US-based company, Hyperloop One, also the brainchild of Elon Musk.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this ambitious project has the potential to transform the whole dynamic of travelling from one city to another and the fact that they have chosen India for this project is what makes us beam with pride.
    © BCCL
So, according to the proposal, people will be able to travel in pods or trains at 1,200 kmph through a tube supported on pillars. What’s more, the train manages to hit this speed because it floats in a vacuum inside the tunnel. If this plan is implemented, then Mumbai will be over an hour away and Bengaluru will be just 30 minutes away. Whoa! This mean you can have breakfast in Chennai and brunch in Bengaluru. Even better, bunk two classes in college and travel between the cities like a boss. Reportedly, the company also shared the routes they are considering – Chennai-Bengaluru, Chennai-Mumbai, Pune-Mumbai, Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram and Mumbai-Delhi.
    © Twitter
According to the sources, the above mentioned routes were meant to run bullet trains and the Chinese and Japanese teams have already started examining the Chennai to Bengaluru route to figure out how the tracks can be laid to run high-speed trains. The company has already approached the Union Ministry of Road Transport for the same. A lot of consideration is put towards reducing the cost as well, for instance, solar panels will be placed on top of the tubes and windmills on the pillars to tap energy so that the operational cost is reduced. The first line in the world is expected to come up between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the next five years and will apparently cut down travel time from 90 minutes to 12 minutes.
    © Twitter
However, no matter how promising this project seems to be, the Indian Railways engineers are still doubtful about this. “Any plan which aims at high speed connectivity is good. But they may take more than a decade to take off because of different reasons," a senior railway official said. The official further added, “There will be procedural delays and time taken for approvals from the government.”
The estimated cost of this project stands at Rs. 300 crore to build 1 km of a high-speed line, but the company says it will take a smaller amount of Rs. 72 crore per km. Furthermore, there are a lot of apprehensions around it like topography, multi-level approvals and favourable infrastructure; so it’s too early to take dibs on this project. But, if it does get implemented, then this development is surely going to change the face of transport in India.

Without doubt, the most legendary boxing champion ever, Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest sports icons in history. Out of the 61 fights he competed in throughout his career, he won 56, including a whopping 37 knockouts. Flamboyant and cocky, Ali was supremely confident and vocal of his achievements, something he justified with each win. Like he said, “It's not bragging if you can back it up.”
Fierce in the boxing ring and feisty out of it, Ali was more than just a boxing star. Born as Cassius Clay, he chose a name closer to his heart, discarding what he called his ‘slave name’. Not one to be afraid of speaking the truth and doing what’s right, he openly opposed the Vietnam war and refused to serve in the US Army, as a result of which he faced a 3-year ban from professional boxing. A champion not only in the boxing ring but also outside of it, a role model for every dreamer who was told he wasn’t enough, Ali inspired many and continues to do so.  Here are a few quotes by the man that prove impossible is just an opinion, not a fact.

Are you a vegetarian who was made to believe that it is impossible to pack on muscle on a vegetarian diet? Is it really mandatory to consume typical bodybuilding foods like chicken breast, eggs and fish to build tons of muscle? Well, the answer is a logical no! While a vegetarian bodybuilder’s growth will definitely be slower than that of a non- vegetarian bodybuilder, there will be growth, no matter what.
    © Thinkstock/Getty Images
The Logic Firstly, the body isn’t concerned with the ‘food’ you consume but the nutrients you get from that food. Hence, if you’re fulfilling the nutrient requirements of your body, training hard and recovering, you will grow.  Another misconception planted in the minds of vegetarians is that proteins; the building block nutrient, is incomplete in vegetarian foods. And therefore, the protein content from veg foods doesn’t count.  Well, the fact is that our body has amino acid requirements not protein requirements. And, if we combine proteins from different vegetarian sources (for e.g. grains + legumes) we will get a full spectrum of amino acids thus consuming ‘complete protein’. Also, another thing to keep in mind is that vegetarians can consume dairy, which in itself is a high quality protein source. Below is a table which shows the PDCAA scores (currently adopted as the best tool for analyzing protein quality) of proteins from different sources.

To our surprise, Chicken is also at a 1.0 PDCAAS ranking and so is milk.
Here’s a 2800 calorie diet ideal for underweight people ranging from 65-75kg.
The macronutrient breakdown of this diet is as follows:
    • Protein- 150g
    • Carbohydrates-330g
    • Fats-95g
The overall diet is arranged in such a way that you will get around 20-40g protein with each meal. Also, it would be ideal if you use a food weighing scale to ensure you’re eating the mentioned foods in desired quantities.
Note- Raw/uncooked weight is mentioned aside every food item.
Meal 1 - BREAKFAST Paneer Bread Sandwich (100g paneer, 4 slices bread)
    ½ Litre Double toned Milk
    10g flax seed powder
    1 Serving Multivitamin
    2000IU Vitamin D
    Meal 2 - Brunch Nuts (30g)
Choose from a variety of nuts
    e.g cashews, almonds, wallnuts, peanuts
    Meal 3- Lunch 2 Rajma (50g)
    3 roti
    Curd(150g)
    Green vegetables
Meal 4- Pre Workout Protein-Banana Shake
    ½ Litre double toned milk
    2 big bananas
    1 scoop whey
    Meal 5 - Dinner Rice (50g)
    Paneer (100g)
    2 bowl daal (50g)
    Green vegetables
If you are skinny and trying to put on mass and basic structure to your physique, couple this diet with a compound lifting routine. Focus more on multi-joint lifts rather than isolation work and you should totally see some gains.

The moment we hear someone say ‘The Great Wall…’ we instantly think of China and the historic significance it holds. Well, fair enough, our textbooks have taught the same. But, thanks to some archaeologists in India, we now have a ‘Great Wall of India’ to be proud of. This marvel, discovered in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, is supposedly 80 km long. Well, this discovery is definitely worth cherishing, given the fact that this mysterious ‘diwaal’ as called by the locals, managed to remain intact and hide its existence for so long.

If historians are to be believed, this wall that stands halfway between Bhopal and Jabalpur and is India’s largest fortification. The wall is said to stretch from Gorakhpur-deori to Chokigarh in Chianpur Bardi in the Raisen district, and cuts through Vindhya valleys, teak forests and even runs through a 20-year-old dam. Talk about an archaeological marvel!
    © HT
Well, this discovery has also brought with it long-abandoned dwellings & debris from magnificent temples and statues and if historians are to be believed then they have just scraped the surface of the secret and there is much more than what meets the eye. Historian Narayan Vyas estimates that this wall might be from 10th or 11th century when warrior clans ruled the world, but there is no solid proof to back that fact up. “This could have been the border of the Parmar kingdom,” Vyas added, while referring to the Rajputs that ruled west-central India between the 9th and 13th centuries. Check out the video of this amazing discovery:
What’s more, the wall itself speaks for its rich infrastructure. For instance, the wall is made from large evenly-sized stones that interlock like Lego bricks, without even using mortar. Reportedly, the seals or inscriptions don’t connect it to any king or a time period, so it’s hard to decipher how old this wall actually is.

Microsoft has filed a patent in which it details that they are currently working on a foldable Surface phone that converts into a Surface Tablet. In general, patents feature some of the craziest concept art we have ever come across and some of them never even make it to the production line.
However, there are many patents that actually become a reality and Microsoft’s own Surface Studio is a prime example. Microsoft filed for a ‘Mobile Computing Device’ patent in February 2016 and it later turned out to be the newly launched Microsoft Surface Studio.
© US Patents and Trademark Office
Last year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that the company was only three years away from making phones that could double up and function as a PC.  Microsoft has been pushing the envelope and we showed you all, last week, how they are more innovative than Apple today.
Microsoft’s patent for a ‘Mobile Computing Device Having a Flexible Hinge Structure’ shows how they will achieve what they are aiming for.
© US Patent and Trademark Office
Thanks to hinges, the phone will fold out flat and also double up as a tablet when required.

The phone could even have three screens in total

Screen resolution sizes are also detailed

It can also be folded like this to view two screens at once

A foldable phone is no longer a gimmick as every company is now investing their time in developing a one. We can expect the first models from Samsung, Xiaomi and LG very soon.
If Microsoft is successful in manufacturing a foldable device like they have proposed, we can assume that they will be dealing out a dose of  tough competition to the market leaders and might even take over the smartphone market as we know it.

    Name: Shivendra Shahi
    Time To Transform: 3+ years
During my school days I used to be an active kid. I was a sportsman and even won numerous medals. I was really good at cricket and since I wasn’t really good at studies, I decided to make a career in sports. I was best at basketball and cricket, so I decided to train professionally during my graduation period. But then again, my academic performance was pretty poor and eventually, I discontinued playing. I decided not to indulge in any sport and work on improving my academic performance. That’s exactly where it all went wrong. I had started the process for collateral damage!

I failed semester after semester. After 3-4 years I was at a point in my life where my sporting career was no more and my academics was depressing. I was sad and depressed. This made me adopt reckless eating and drinking habits. Never went to college for almost 3 years because I wasn’t eligible to attend due to my semester backs.  All this while, I was getting fat, lazy and full of negativity. Then I reached a point where I lost all my hopes and even thought about ending my life. I was known as the lazy fat loser!

When all my colleagues graduated, I was left alone and hopeless. That’s when my father forced me to join a gym and start working out. I started working out with nothing positive in my life. I was a 100kg loser when I started working out. A few months in and I started losing weight. I started feeling active but after sometimes my results stood still. The reason was my lack of knowledge about nutrition. I was only focusing on weights and cardio. Then I started reading researches and articles on diet scheduling. Soon I felt that the most important thing is to educate yourself in the right direction.

What I learned, I applied. After a few more months of physical and mental challenges, I thought maybe this is the thing where I can start a new life. I saw a career in fitness.  I discussed it with my parents and they supported me. Today I am a fitness model. When I started working out, I had never thought that a fat, lazy and unfit guy will become a fitness model and athlete. It took me 3 years to turn my negatives into positives. As you read this, I am positive, full of energy and a competitive physique athlete as well. I live a healthy and clean lifestyle throughout the year. Remember: Focus on lifting and nutrition. No cardio, no drugs!

One of the best songs that the year 2016 gave us was ‘Channa Mereya’ from ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. Arijit Singh lent magic to the song composed by Pritam and written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. It was a surprise tear-jerker for even the most hardened of hearts.
A teary-eyed Ranbir Kapoor singing from a broken heart, the song touched a raw nerve with most of us. ‘Channa Mereya’, besides ruling the charts, has tempted many aspiring singers and musicians to come out with the covers. While some have given it impressive vocals,
some have played with the music,
But this particular tabla cover by Shobhit Banwait is one that has left us mesmerized with its sheer simplicity.
Shobhit doesn’t meddle with the vocals or the music of the song; he simply adds the melodious beats of his tabla to it. And boy, it does wonders. So perfect it is, we wonder if the makers of the original would think this would have been even better!

In what turned out to be a pulsating contest, Team India began the Virat Kohli era with an emphatic three-wicket win against England in the 1st ODI at the MCA stadium, Pune on 15 January.
Chasing a mammoth total of 350 runs, the Indian side notched up the target with three wickets and 11 balls to spare, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Kohli (122) was once again at his prolific best, but it was the new addition Kedar Jadhav (120) who stole the show and left England shellshocked.
Despite losing the first four wickets for a mere 63 runs, India came back strong on the back of a 200-run partnership between Kohli and Jadhav for the fifth wicket. It was only the sixth occasion when a target of 350 or more was successfully chased down in ODI history, with India doing it thrice.
In case you missed India's thrilling chase, here's a look at five talking points from the game:
The King Of Run-Chases © Twitter
Kohli is arguably one of the best and most consistent batsmen in the modern-era of cricket. But when it comes to run-chases, there is no other batsman who does it better than him.
Best Test player ... KOHLI                                 Best ODI player  ... KOHLI.                             Best T20 player ... KOHLI
    — Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) January 15, 2017 So, when India found themselves reeling at 4-63, Kohli did what he does best - smashed a century and anchored his side home. It was just another day at office for the Delhi lad who smashed eight exquisite fours and five towering sixes in his 105-ball innings.
VIRAT KOHLI  IS FROM ANOTHER PLANET #Fact
    — Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) January 15, 2017 Out of Kohli's 27 ODI hundreds, 17 have been scored during run-chases. It's also the joint-most by any batsman along with the great Sachin Tendulkar. But, Kohli has done so in 96 innings compared to Tendulkar's 232. The Indian captain has now scored 15 hundreds in successful run-chases - the most by a batsman in ODI history.
Why don't you just admit you are an alien, Kohli? Why don't you? Why? #INDvENG #Kohli #replug pic.twitter.com/GuHF54vCbg
    — Sonali Dhulap (@pillya) January 15, 2017 Also, in the eight matches where India have successfully chased the targets of 300 or more since Kohli's debut, the right-hander has smashed hundreds in six of those games. No wonder, he is being labelled as an extra-terrestrial being.
Rise Of A New Champion © Twitter
If Kohli was the baton-bearer for India in the run-chase, Kedar Jadhav was equally outstanding in the supporting role. Coming out to bat with India struggling at 4-63, Jadhav showcased nerves of steel while wreaking havoc on the opposition bowlers during his 76-ball 120.
    Kedar Jadhav ,take a bow.
An innings one dreams to play.#INDvENG
    — Mohammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif) January 15, 2017 For a batsman who has more than 3000 runs at an average of over 50 in domestic cricket, Jadhav performed way over the expectations of the Indian fans. The right-hander notched up his second ODI hundred in just 65 balls - sixth-quickest by an Indian batsman. He has now gone past 50-run mark twice in his nine ODI innings and has converted both into centuries.
Cramps in his legs but still had might in his hands & a big heart to go with it. Well played Kedar Jadav ???
    — Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) January 15, 2017 Apart from showcasing his ability to play counter-attacking cricket, Jadhav's intent to stay at the crease despite being troubled by cramps and fatigue highlighted his character as a player. His addition to the side is clearly a good sign for Indian cricket in the coming days.
    Dhoni Nails DRS © Twitter
On the eve of the 1st ODI, Kohli had cited a stat (an un-verifiable one) that apparently pegged Dhoni's success-rate with appeals at 95 per cent. Whether or not it really is that high, Kohli reaped his first direct benefit of his predecessor's judgement after umpire CK Nandan turned down a caught-behind appeal against England skipper Eoin Morgan.

As soon as the ball whizzed past Morgan's bat, Dhoni went up immediately in loud appeal - he usually doesn't if he is not convinced - and then signalled to Kohli that he use the DRS. Kohli instantly asked for the referral, and the decision was rightly overturned.
Looks like, Dhoni could surely try his hand at umpiring after his retirement from international cricket.
Ashwin Does A Dhoni © Twitter
Ravichandran Ashwin has enjoyed the tag of India's premier spinner over the years. But, the spin maestro had a forgetful outing in the 1st ODI against England. Without any purchase from the wicket, the Indian offie went for 7.87 runs an over - his worst in any ODI in which he has bowled more than five overs.
But, despite struggling with the ball, Ashwin had something to cheer for during India's chase. With just one run needed from 12 balls, Ashwin wasted no time and emulated his former skipper by smashing a biggie off Moeen Ali to bring India home.

    — BCCI (@BCCI) January 15, 2017 It was a clean strike from Ashwin - something he was seemingly pleased with - and worthy of being compared to Dhoni's signature finish to a game.
Bumrah Misses His Mark © Twitter
Not so long ago, the death-over bowling was India's achilles heel in limited-overs cricket. But, the addition of Jasprit Bumrah - a death-over specialist with a knack of bowling yorkers consistently - changed the fortunes for Men in Blue.
But, the 1st ODI against England witnessed a rare sight of Bumrah struggling to contain the opposition batsmen. The right-arm speedster took two wickets at the expense of 79 runs in his spell of 10 overs. In the nine ODIs he has played so far, Bumrah finished with an economy rate of more than six an over for the very first time.

One umpire was Indian, other was Dharmasena. Explains#INDvENG
    — Sir Main Dad (@SirJohnRoe) January 15, 2017 If leaking runs wasn't enough, Bumrah's surprising lack of discipline was evident in his three no-balls and a wide. The England total that was initially looking to be somewhere around 300 mark, went onto become 350 following Bumrah's lapse in concentration.

Last night’s ‘Koffee With Karan’ was mostly forgettable , thanks to Sonam Kapoor being pretentious AF and Kareena simply refusing to give us much scoop but there’s one thing that was hard to look over – Kareena Kapoor constantly throwing shade on Sonam Kapoor throughout the show. If it had to be explained in a picture, it’d be this.
    © Hotstar
Mean things are always nice to revisit, so here’s a breakdown of each and every time Kareena Kapoor (not so) lowkey snubbed Sonam Kapoor without her getting to know of it.
    1. The eye-rolling began even before the show actually started.

    2. When Sonam said she absolutely loves Kareena and Kareena couldn’t care less.

She was literally just sitting there, flicking her hair while Sonam went on and on praising her.

    3. Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor were having a conversation about Kareena and Saif’s ‘blue blood attitude’. Sonam Kapoor butted in for no reason and let’s just say Kareena burned her down with this glare for interrupting.

    4. Most people would be flattered with someone praising them but Bebo had “Err...can you not?” written on her forehead the whole time Sonam was trying to be her self-appointed PR.

    5. Karan Johar asked both of them, Sonam first, and Kareena later if being fashionistas ever takes away from being recognized as actors of substance. Kareena agreed but then quickly declared herself the ‘actor’ on the couch.

Now come on, read between the lines!
    6. When Sonam Kapoor spoke of being her only competition, Kareena Kapoor was internally rolling her eyes and it was QUITE evident.

    7. Kapoor thought it was a good opportunity to announce her Hollywood debut and forget a congratulatory hug, Kareena Kapoor poured molten lava over it.

    8. Basically, every time Sonam opened her mouth, Kareena looked for fucks to give.

    9. Karan asked if Sonam would like to be set up with Ranbir Kapoor and become Kareena Kapoor’s sister-in-law and Kareena pulled off, well, a Kareena.

    10. She threw diplomacy out of the window when it came to competing against Alia and Sonam in a GK test.

She couldn’t resist rubbing it in Sonam’s face.

    11. Kara asked her to rank Sonam, Deepika, Alia, Anushka and Katrina and she killed ‘em all with her sarcasm. Not even kidding. She didn’t even care about the fact that Sonam was right there!

    12. When Karan asked what Sonam Kapoor’s worst performance was, Kareena was quick to answer ‘Thank You’. She literally couldn’t believe she was sharing the couch with Sonam Kapoor.

    13. Sonam Kapoor turned the show into a snooze-fest with her irrelevant, almost senseless and pretentious answers and Kareena Kapoor called her out on it.

She tried to cut it short so people could move on and Sonam would shut up.

    14. This time Sonam Kapoor tried to mock Kareena Kapoor and Kareena refused to even react to it.

    15. Karan ended the show by mocking Sonam Kapoor’s ‘lifestyle changes’ and Kareena had the bitchiest laugh ever!

We all know the Samsung’s next flagship phone is all set to arrive soon and the launch of this phone probably has put more pressure on the Korean company than ever before.  Samsung lost many valuable and loyal customers thanks to exploding battery on Note 7. However, if Samsung wants to bounce back, they need to build a kickass flagship phone. A phone that will have improved specs and functionality and give the iPhone 7 a run for its money.
    4K Screen  © YouTube
Samsung is responsible for making some of the highest quality screens known to man and they have opted to use Quad HD (2,560 X 1,440) display on their phones for a while. However, there are rumours surrounding the Galaxy S8 that it might finally have a larger (5.7-inch) screen and a screen with higher resolution. It is said that the phone might sport a 4K Super AMOLED display, which will also enhance the phone’s VR capabilities.
    Higher Performance © Qualcomm
Samsung has always been making the Galaxy S phones with two different processors and it S8 will be no exception. The Exynos chip and a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip will power the other.
Samsung might use an Exynos 8895 chip, which will aid in giving 1.8x more graphics than the S7. Samsung will be using Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor, which will give a 20 percent boost in performance as compared to the S7. It is estimated that the Galaxy S8 will have 6GB of RAM or even 8 GB. Either way, it will be much higher than the S7.
‘Bixby’ AI Assistant The iPhone invented one of the most important features the phone could have -- Siri. And since then, every smartphone manufacturer has been including some sort of AI assistant in their smartphones. Microsoft phones have Cortana and the Google Pixel phones have the Assistant. Samsung is all prepared to launch their own AI digital assistant dubbed as Bixby. Viv, an artificial intelligence company acquired by Samsung last year, and it is the same company that developed Siri before selling it to Apple.
    All Weather Proof © YouTube
Whether you are at the beach or in a desert, Samsung phones have been known to be water and dust resistant. Samsung has been waterproofing phone for years now and the S7 marked the company's first phone to have an IP68 rating. Which means that the phone can be submerged in up to 4.9 feet of water and can last in that depth for up to 30 minutes. The IP68 rating also means that the phone can withstand dust and sand without a need of a cover.
Two Cameras? Samsung always improves on their cameras on the Galaxy S phones, and sometimes drastically. However, there is no rumour or news on the same from Samsung for the S8.
Apple introduced a dual-lens setup on the iPhone 7 Plus and it only seems logical for Samsung to follow suit. Since the S8 is rumoured to be using Snapdragon 835 chip, the phone will be able to support a dual camera feature.
Ditching The Home Button © YouTube
Samsung is reportedly planning to remove the home button altogether and embed the fingerprint scanner underneath the display. This will enable the Korean company to keep the same dimensions as the S7 or even shrink the size.
Apart from all the other things mentioned above, there are still features that we still have no clue about. Whether the phone will ditch the headphone jack or not, how much battery will it have? Will the front-facing camera get an upgrade? These are just some of the questions we wish we knew the answers to.

Let’s get the facts straight—eggs are one of the healthiest, inexpensive and most complete sources of protein available on the earth. If you are a vegan who has read plenty of articles saying “why eggs are bad”, I feel sorry for you and the one who wrote that article. Let’s get it going and tell you why eggs are amazing.
    © Thinkstock/Getty Images
    1. Inexpensive Source Of High Quality Protein A typical medium-sized egg contains 6gm of high quality protein plus all the essential amino acids. Protein coming from egg is better than that of plants because plant proteins don’t have all essential amino acids.
    2. Contains Choline It is a water soluble vitamin which is great for men and even better for women. Women with diets richer in choline may have lower risk for breast cancer. Adult male needs about 550mg of choline a day and whole egg contains around 150mg of choline. So, just 3 whole eggs a day will make you meet the required intake.
    3. Highly Satiating Eggs make you feel fuller for longer. Don’t be surprised if you don’t find yourself overeating or looking for food after consuming eggs. This is true but only if you consume whole eggs and not the whites alone.
    4. Zero Carbohydrates Eggs contain no carbohydrates whatsoever. So if you are planning to lose weight, eat eggs, don’t run away from them. Warning: I am not in any way suggesting that you need a zero carbohydrate diet to cut fat.
So, whether you are an iron pusher or someone trying to simply eat healthy, eggs are meant for you.
Whole Egg Vs Egg White: Never Ditch The Egg Yolk © YouTube
An egg yolk contains around 4gm of fat out of which 2gm is monounsaturated, good fat (as they are called) and 2.5grams of protein in addition to it. An egg white contains only protein, i.e. half of the total protein content of an egg. So you not only ditch the good monounsaturated fat, but also the Protein when you ditch the egg yolk.
I’m not saying that you can eat whole eggs as much as you want but ditching them completely, isn’t a good idea either. There’s definitely room for whole eggs in your diet depending on your activity levels, heart health and how much room you have for fats in your diet. Your trainer/nutritionist can tell you better about the right quantity.
White Eggs vs Brown egg © Thinkstock/Getty Images
I don’t care what your grocery guy tells you but get this straight, both white and brown eggs. No, brown eggs are not any healthier than white eggs either. Brown eggs simply come from a different breed of hens, which are often bigger birds and require more food than standard white-egg-laying hens. Those costs are usually passed on, adding to brown eggs. Well, if you are someone who thinks “more the price, better the quality”, then you can continue eating brown eggs.
Why Do Some Eggs Have Double Yolk? Are They Safe To Consume? © Wikimedia
Double-yolked eggs are often laid by young hens whose egg production cycles are not yet completely synchronized, or by hens which are old enough to produce extra large-sized eggs. In Hong Kong and India, chicken are actually bred to lay double-yolked eggs that are highly sought after by customers.

After a BSF jawan’s moving rant about the poor quality of food served to soldiers posted at the border put to shame an entire country, another video has surfaced.
    © Facebook
Soon after the video went viral, the BSF jawan had gone ‘missing’ and rumours of his ‘difficult past’ started doing the rounds. Just hours ago, Army chief Bipin Rawat has issued a warning to the forces, prohibiting them against using social media to defame the army. This video, that comes at an opportune time, shows a jawan singing a song about the harsh conditions on the border and how politicians don’t really care about them. He sings about how while the rich dine in luxury, the jawan get only pickle with roti.
National Herald posted the video on Youtube and posted a rough translation of the lyrics that are in Punjabi.
Politicians don't seem to care two hoots about youths who are in military.
They go to sleep after wishing good night,
    we celebrate Diwali on borders.
When Delhi and Mumbai are fast asleep,
we ready ourselves to move towards trenches.
We don't care for salad and fried foods,
whatever we get cooked in our community-kitchen, satisfies us.
While you eat your dinner at Taj, we get only pickle on our roti.
When we broad-chested soldiers stand in trenches, no one can dare to cross the border.
An AK 47 on our shoulder feels like paternal blessing.
It has been ten months now,
I am not getting days off,
all the tears have fallen from her eyes.
One who is married to us,
she feels neither married nor unmarried.
The video is not dated and it is not clear that it has been inspired by the BSF jawan’s rant or not, but one thing that’s clear is that at the end of the day, our soldiers suffer at the hands of corrupt bureaucracy.

Sports mirror society just like any other aspect of culture. It can act as a mechanism for both political and societal change. It does not exist in a vacuum and just functioning in isolation from what is happening around the world is definitely not how it's supposed to be.
Sportspersons are influential public figures who are likely to make an impression on the country's youth. Their stand on issues, other than sports can undoubtedly influence the minds of their fans.
So, when they distance themselves from important issues prevailing in the society, they unknowingly tell the youth that it is probably okay not to have an opinion. That it is okay to continue living within your own walls, and not engage.
However, one Indian sportsman has been breaking the barriers and setting an example over the years. Yogeshwar Dutt, who has been a prominent voice amongst Indian sportspersons, has once again taken a muscular stand off the ring by refusing to accept dowry from his in-laws.
The Olympic medallist, who will tie the nuptial knot with Sheetal Sharma on 16 January, accepted Re 1 as 'shagun' and refused any other form of gift from the bride's family during his engagement in Sonipat.
    सनातन धर्म में किसी भी शुभ अवसर पर शगुन या नेग दिया जाता है,मैंने एक रुपये का शगुन स्वीकार किया है ना कि दहेज।शब्दों के चुनाव ठीक से करे। https://t.co/5hwiEWu1Fb
    — Yogeshwar Dutt (@DuttYogi) January 15, 2017 "I saw my family struggle to collect dowry for the girls of the family. As a result, I decided on two things while growing up - I will excel in wrestling and I will not accept dowry. My first dream has been realised and now it is time to keep my second promise," the 34-year-old Indian wrestler said.
But, this isn't the first time Yogeshwar has acted on issues other than sports. The wrestling maverick, over the years, has been sharing his high set of principles and a very strong sense of right.

    — Yogeshwar Dutt (@DuttYogi) February 13, 2016 During the nationwide uproar sparked by some anti-national elements in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Yogeshwar didn't shy away from voicing his opinion. Unlike the cricketers and a majority of other sportsmen for that matter, it was clear that Yogeshwar wasn't going to be content just wrestling bodies but was interested in wrestling minds by joining the debate.
The Indian wrestler wrote a patriotic poem to criticise the alleged anti-national activities on the JNU campus and shared it on the social media. In his poem, the London Olympics bronze medallist compared 'anti-national elements' to Mahmud of Ghazni and even questioned their Right to Expression when they choose to demean the country.
Dutt also accused the students and their supporters of dishonouring the sacrifice of Indian soldiers, including Lance Naik Hanamanthappa - one of the 10 soldiers who died in an avalanche in Siachen in February, 2016.

    — Yogeshwar Dutt (@DuttYogi) January 4, 2017 When the disturbing videos of Bengaluru's mass molestation case surfaced, the Indian wrestler was quick to rally behind the victims and condemned the shameful act. Voicing the popular notion about the heinous incident, Yogeshwar took to social media and shared his video message.
London Olympics Medal Upgrade Russian wrestler Besik Kudukhov, who died in a car crash in 2013, failed a WADA dope test conducted on his sample from 2012 before Rio Games. As a result, Yogeshwar, who had bagged a bronze medal in men's 60-kg freestyle category in London, joined Sushil Kumar as the other silver-medal wrestler from the 2012 London Games.
However, Yogeshwar wasn't keen to collect the upgraded silver medal on humanitarian grounds. "Besik Kudukhov shandaar pehelwaan the (Besik Kudukhov was a magnificent wrestler). Unke mirtyu ke baad dope test mein fail ho jana bahut dukht hai (His dope test returning positive after his death is very sad). Main khiladi ke roop mein main unka sammaan karta hoon (As a wrestler, I respect him)," Yogeshwar wrote on his twitter handle.
    Besik Kudukhov शानदार पहलवान थे। उनका मृत्यु के पश्चात dope test में fail हो जाना दुखद हैं। मैं खिलाड़ी के रूप में उनका सम्मान करता हूँ।
    — Yogeshwar Dutt (@DuttYogi) August 31, 2016 "Agar ho sake toh yeh medal unhi ke paas rehne diya jaaye (If possible he must be allowed to keep the medal). Unke pariwar ke liye bhi samaan purna hoga (It will keep his family's honour intact). Mere liye manaviya samvedana sarvopari hai (For me humanity is above everything else)," he added.
    अगर हो सके तो ये मेडल उन्ही के पास रहने दिया जाए। उनके परिवार के लिए भी सम्मानपूर्ण होगा। मेरे लिए मानवीय संवेदना सर्वोपरि है।

The National Defence Academy of India trains cadets of three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, and is one of the most prestigious and professional military training academies in the world. Formally commissioned on 7th December 1954, the National Defence Academy was raised on 16th Jan 1955 and became the first tri-service academy in the world. It boasts of a rigorous and grueling training regime to produce men of iron and the same is reflected from its glorious alumni base which has gifted India 27 Chiefs Of Staff till date. And thus, it is worth discovering what goes in making the toughest and the most brilliant servicemen in the world.
Based in Pune, Maharashtra, the NDA training guide aims to ‘equip cadets with mental, moral and physical attributes’ worthy of leading troops to victory in ‘conventional, non-conventional and asymmetrical conflicts’. Be it the situation in Kashmir or the threat of Naxalism in the east, an NDA cadet is trained to protect the interests of the country in the harshest of climates and against all adversities.
    © Twitter
A normal day in the life of an NDA cadet begins early morning between 0400 and 0600 hours with the muster fall-in (morning roll-call). The morning training is referred to as physical conditioning and includes a grueling schedule of drills and PT. After that another two hours of morning classes commence called as ODTS (outdoor training drills). When a cadet is through the morning schedule, he returns back to his squadron and rushes for the academic classes (bachelors in sciences) all within a matter of minutes. Any indiscipline in terms of punctuality is strictly dealt with. The classes last till 1400 hours and another 45 minutes are given for lunch. There are no rest gaps in between and the cadet then makes it to the PT classes or a sport discipline of his choice. This time between 1500-1800 hours is reserved for developing a spirit of ‘camaraderie and sportsmanship’. 1830-2030 hours are reserved for studies after which dinner is served. Dinner makes way for another hour and a half of PT and games. Lights go out at 2215 hours and the cadets repeat the same cycle for three years in training.
This grueling routine is followed day in and day out to inculcate the values of ‘service before self’ and only the best of men make it through the course. In the 127th course at NDA (2011-2014 batch), almost 40 cadets dropped out in between the course because they couldn’t cope with the rigorous routine at the academy. Not all men are cut out for serving the nation at the highest levels and the National Defence Academy is a platform which only breeds the best.
    © Twitter
Apart from the specific training modules of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force termed as service training, NDA imparts Physical Training and Equitation Training other than Drill which is the most loved and popular module in training. The modules are dynamic and often cadets are involved in endurance competitions which might last for 40-60kms including long run backs with battle loads while competing with other squadrons.
The training at the academy is intense and hardcore and the cadet gets a chance to develop a disciplined lifestyle which helps in his personal and professional life. Every other day at the academy offers a different challenge to toughen up the next crop of servicemen. The transformation from boys to men ushers in a strong breed of Indian military personnel, equipped to defend the country in the best way possible.

Do you know about the most powerful anti-oxidant in the world? You probably wouldn’t. It’s called Alpha Lipoic Acid aka ALA. It is one of the most powerful antioxidants present today and is widely used as a supplement in the world of bodybuilding, fat loss and general well-being.
What is Alpha Lipoic Acid aka ALA? © Thinkstock/Getty Images
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA), also known as thioctic acid, is basically a fatty acid also found in the human body. It exists in the mitochondria of the cell and is involved in energy metabolism. Since it is an anti-oxidant its prime function is the prevention of free radical attack. Being both water and fat soluble, this unique trait of ALA allows it to cross the blood brain barrier and therefore, makes it the most preferable anti-oxidant by most fitness coaches and athletes in the world.
Benefits Of ALA ALA is a very versatile antioxidant, capable of fighting against almost every free radical species. It is known to prevent various types of oxidations and inflammations that occur in the body which further prevents heart diseases, liver diseases, obesity, Alzheimer’s disease and a few other neurological issues. It is also known to oxidize nutrients from the food by converting simple sugars into energy.
ALA And Insulin: Diabetes And Muscle Repair   © Thinkstock/Getty Images
ALA has proven to a boon for diabetic patients because of its insulin mimicking traits which helps in enhancing the insulin sensitivity. It is capable of functioning in both extracellular and intracellular environments in the body. Lifters who train at a high intensity can boost muscle repair and recovery by supplementing with ALA.
Food Sources ALA in food sources is almost negligible. However, organ meats such as liver and to a lesser extents spinach and broccoli contain small traces of ALA.
Dosage There is no specific recommended daily dosage for ALA.  However, one can consume 100-300mg of ALA as an anti-oxidant post workout. In order to take it as an insulin mimicker, one has to exceed the dosage till 600-900mg, 30min before meal. Hence, if you are looking for a powerful anti-oxidant to add in your supplement stack, ALA is a great option.
Note: Do not confuse it with Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA) which is an omega3 fatty acid.

Animals and humans are supposed to co-exist, or that is what ideally Mother Nature would want. Humans have always been territorial and tried to snatch away the natural habitat of other animals. Cutting trees, abandoning forests, making the world a concrete jungle, killing animals for food and what not. One such horrific story belongs to a gentle Kalidassan, an elephant who went on a rampage because of what he had to go through.
    © Facebook
Elephants are decorated and used in processions, marriages and other grand events. A huge animal and usually not volatile, elephants are resorted to cruel conditions and training to ‘behave’ in human terms. Kalidassan met the same fate and was used in processions until he could not take it anymore.  During a procession, constantly walking for hours with no food, noise and firecrackers triggered him and he turned violent.

“The elephants are decorated with beautiful caparisons and made to parade for as long as 10 kilometers [6 miles] on a single day of festival, carrying effigies of deities amid noise of orchestra and fireworks that sometimes agitate the highly-sensitive animals and result in such incidents”, a news piece recently reported.  Kalidassan had to eventually be tranquilized and the rampage continued for 4 hours. What are we doing in the name of entertainment? Snatching habitats and taming other living beings to cater to our joy? How can we find happiness in such cruel things? God bless our humanity.

A passenger aircraft that crashed last summer might have been brought down due to an exploding iPhone, which belonged to the Pilot. According to the investigation, the phone’s battery might have overheated and sparked a fire and caused the flight to crash into the Mediterranean.

According to CCTV footage, co-pilot Mohamed Mamdouh Ahmed Assem left his iPhone 6S and iPad mini next to 4 perfume bottles, which had been on top of an instrument panel of the Airbus A320.
French investigators are currently trying to find the cause of the crash and according to them the fire broke out on flight 804 and items that were placed on the glare-shield caused it.

The plane that crashed last year killed all of its 66 passengers that were flying from Paris to Cairo. The black box of the plane indicates that a fire broke out in mid-air which was followed by fire alerts and smoke detectors going off on the flight deck.
The CCTC footage indicated that devices were placed on the glare-shield prior to taking off. However, there is still no proof whether the devices remained there for the entire duration of the flight. Egypt claims that there were explosive placed on board the aeroplane; however, French investigators call this allegation implausible.
Stability of lithium batteries on smartphones has been a controversial topic ever since Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 started to overheat and catch fire across the globe. In fact, the phone was even banned by airlines in order to avoid similar situations as Flight 804.
An Apple representative said: 'We have not seen the report but we understand there is no evidence to link this event to Apple products.
'If investigators have questions for us, we would, of course, assist in any way we can.
'We rigorously test our products to ensure they meet or exceed international safety standards.'
