    A strange yet impressive sight was witnessed in the UK, when a Pakistani truck was spotted roaming the streets of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, as if it was on a local street on a fine afternoon in Pakistan.

    Much to the delight of those present around to catch the rare glimpse, the truck driver also honked to further captivate his audience.
    Ayesha, who shot the video, was delighted to share her experience. ?People were stopping to admire the sight,? she said, adding that as a Pakistani she was thrilled to witness the spectacle of Pakistani culture on British roads.
    ?I wish we could have more of these, Pakistani culture is quite admired and appreciated here,? she said.

    Interestingly, unlike the trucks in Pakistan, the truck driver wasn't driving recklessly and the vehicle wasn't emitting the customary black smoke. 

    Recently, the ?Emerging Pakistan? campaign has been introduced in London.

    The campaign includes London?s iconic red buses carrying brand Pakistan -- a move aimed at introducing Britons and international tourists to Pakistan?s beautiful culture and heritage.
    Tens of thousands of people will get to see the London buses daily. During four weeks, millions will see these buses depicting the diversity and beauty of Pakistan.
    The initiative is a part of celebrations planned by the Pakistan High Commission London for the 70th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan this year.

    Durable peace essential for safety and security of the people and economic activities in Karachi. -ISPR KARACHI: A special meeting of Sindh?s apex committee, attended by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, on Tuesday reviewed the progress of the National Action Plan (NAP) and expressed satisfaction on improvement of law and order situation in the metropolis, said a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
    The meeting did impress upon the need for persistent efforts to ?achieve durable peace and stability within the province.
    Areas requiring further effort and focus were identified, including, police reforms, better coordination between federal, provincial authorities on NAP, early completion of safe city project and the need for speedy prosecution.
    ?The forum reiterated the need for durable peace being quintessential for safety and security of the people and economic activities especially in the metropolis,? said the ISPR statement.
    The army chief directed all stakeholders to further improve synergy, reaction capability of law enforcement agencies, decision making process and to hold public office holders accountable.
    General Bajwa suggested improvements in the internal functioning of Sindh police to include induction on merit, availability of young trained leadership and the strengthening of its leadership, said the statement released by the military?s media wing.
    "Stable law and order in the country is only possible with effective writ of the state through implementation of state laws, its willing abidance by the public and across the board speedy dispensation of justice. Despite considerable headway, we have a long way to go on these counts. Army shall continue to render its full support to all state institutions in this regard,? said the army chief. 

    The meeting was attended by chief minister Sindh, home minister, chief secretary, IGP Sindh, commander Karachi corps, DG ISI, DG Pakistan Ranger Sindh and other senior civil and military officials.

    Photo: Reuters FILE BERLIN: Germany is a big target of spying and cyber attacks by foreign governments such as Turkey, Russia and China, a government report said on Tuesday, warning of "ticking time bombs" that could sabotage critical infrastructure.

    Industrial espionage costs German industry billions of euros each year, with small- and medium-sized businesses often the biggest losers, the BfV domestic intelligence agency said in its 339-page annual report.
    The report mapped out a range of security threats, including militancy and increased far-right violence, but highlighted the growing incidence of cyber espionage.
    It cited a "noticeable increase" in spying by Turkey's MIT foreign intelligence agency in Germany in 2016, following the failed July 15 coup in Turkey, and said Russia was seeking to influence a parliamentary election on Sept. 24.
    "The consequences for our country range from weakened negotiating positions to high material costs and economic damage all the way to impairment of national sovereignty," it said.
    Key targets were the foreign ministry and its overseas offices, the finance and economics ministries, the chancellery and the German military.
    Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said the government was working closely with industry to better protect German firms, with the most affected sectors being the weapons, space and aerospace and car industries, as well as research institutes.
    Cyber attacks could not only lead to losses of information, but also, through delayed-action malware, trigger "silent, ticking digital time bombs" that could manipulate data and sabotage equipment, especially critical infrastructure, the report said.
    It said that the Sandworm malware, which computer experts have linked to Russia, had actively targeted government sites, the NATO military alliance, utilities and telecommunications firms in recent years.
    RUSSIA, CHINA, IRAN
    Russia, China and Iran were the main countries spying on Germany, albeit for different reasons, it said.
    Russia had a keen interest in the removal of economic sanctions imposed by the European Union for Moscow's actions in Ukraine, and the Russian hacker group APT 28, also known as Fancy Bear and believed to be state-controlled, continued to attack German political targets, the report said.
    Russia was also using so-called Internet trolls to influence public opinion and push pro-Russian views, the report said, citing a sharp increase in propaganda and disinformation campaigns using social and Russian-backed media.
    "It is assumed that Russian state agencies are trying to influence parties, politicians and public opinion, with a particular eye to the 2017 parliamentary election," it said.
    Iran was focused mainly on Israeli or pro-Jewish targets and political opponents of Tehran's clerical rulers.
    The report cited a sharp decline in potential attempts by Iran to buy dual-use items for its nuclear program, but said that was not true for its missile development efforts.
    Chinese espionage had increased since President Xi Jinping took office in 2013, and was focused increasingly on political events such as the upcoming G20 summit in Hamburg, as well as technology and critics of the Chinese government.
    It said Chinese intelligence was using social media sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook to try to recruit Western informants, and that the close links between government and industry meant state and industrial espionage were hard to distinguish.
    Turkish spying was focused on backers in Germany of both the banned separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Turkey blames for the failed coup, though he denies involvement.

    Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, speaking at a ceremony. ? Geo News FILE LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on Tuesday said that she "saw her father's eyes filled with concern and apprehension over her appearance before the Panama case joint investigation team (JIT)".

    The investigation team, constituted by the Supreme Court to probe businesses and financial dealings of Sharif family, has summoned the first daughter on Wednesday.
    Maryam, in a series of tweets on Tuesday said that her father has been through testing times in more than 30 years of his political career, acing out his rivals.




    "Yet as an affectionate and protective father, I saw his eyes filled with concern and apprehensions over his daughter's appearance before JIT," she stated on social media.

    She added that she reassured her father and told him that "I am your daughter, trained by you, will neither cower down, nor yield to pressure and nothing will deter me from taking up the cudgels against transgression and injustice".

    The first daughter also said that she would appear before the investigation team tomorrow and follow the rule of law like her father has always done.





    'No moral grounds for Maryam's appearance before JIT'
    Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif said there were no moral grounds for summoning of Maryam Nawaz by the JIT.
    "Our culture teaches us to respect women," he said, adding, "Women in the Sharif family were also subjected to mistreatment during the unconstitutional government of Pervez Musharraf".
    He, however, said that they admit the investigation team's privilege to summon a person before it as a witness.
    "Those giving examples of late Benazir Bhutto incarcerated our father and did not even provide him with medicines during detention," Shahbaz said.
    Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif?s elder son Hussain Nawaz appeared before the JIT for the sixth time.
    Maryam will be the sixth member of the Sharif family to appear before the high-profile probe team, formed on May 6 in light of the Supreme Court's April 20 judgment in the Panama Papers case.

    The US currently has 8,400 troops deployed under the NATO banner. KABUL: US Senator John McCain visited Kabul Tuesday and said that Washington was counting on Pakistan's support to eliminate militancy in Afghanistan.
    McCain´s statement came one day after he and a bi-partisan Senate delegation visited Islamabad, where officials said he reinforced the country´s essential role in regional stability.

    "We expect they (Pakistan) will cooperate with us, particularly against the Haqqani network and against terrorist organisations," said McCain, chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, in Kabul.
    The Senate visit to Islamabad and Kabul comes as the US is gearing up to send more troops to Afghanistan to support Afghan forces straining to beat back the resurgent Taliban.

    McCain called for more than just troops, however, urging "a strategy to win" the war which has dragged on for nearly 16 years and which even US generals concede is at a "stalemate".
    "The strongest nation on earth in this world should be able to win this conflict," he said, calling for diplomatic efforts alongside a military push.
    The US currently has 8,400 troops deployed under the NATO banner, and is thought to be mulling sending up to 4,000 more.
    Pentagon chief Jim Mattis has stressed his new approach, due to be presented to US President Donald Trump by mid-July, will have a broader "regional" emphasis, with no set timetable.
    Trump has remained remarkably taciturn on Afghanistan, but this month gave Mattis authority to set troop numbers at whatever level he saw fit.
    NATO, whose Operation Resolute Support numbers some 13,500 including the Americans, also promised last week to increase its presence in Afghanistan.
    Recent Taliban gains have shaken confidence in Afghanistan´s future and talk of sending NATO troops in has stoked fears the alliance could get sucked back into an unwinnable war.
    But Mattis refused recently to "put timelines" on the conflict.
    "The bottom line is that NATO has made a commitment to Afghanistan for freedom from fear and terror... You can´t let this be undone," he said in Brussels last week.

    KARACHI: Newly-elected President of Pakistan People?s Party women wing Sindh and MNA Shagufta Jumani called on party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Bilawal House on Tuesday.

    The PPP had last week finalised the names of the new office bearers for the provincial offices. The newly-appointed party leaders were for the posts of president, secretary general, and secretary information.

    The Bilawal House press release had stated that Shagufta Jumani, Sadia Javed and Dr Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto were appointed as president, secretary information and secretary general respectively, for the PPP women's wing.

    Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry. ? Geo News FILE ISLAMABAD: The joint investigation team (JIT), constituted by the Supreme Court in the Panama Leaks case, has summoned chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), sources confided to Geo News Tuesday.

    The investigation team issued summons to Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry to appear before it on Wednesday (tomorrow), sources said.

    Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's elder son has been summoned the most among Sharif family members
    Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif?s elder son Hussain Nawaz appeared before the JIT for the sixth time.

    "I maintain what I had said from day one that they will find no evidence against me and family simply because it does not exist. There is no evidence against corruption, misuse of office, money laundering [against the Sharifs]," said Hussain, following his appearance before the team of investigators.

    Maryam will be the sixth member of the Sharif family to appear before the high-profile probe team, formed on May 6 in light of the Supreme Court's April 20 judgment in the Panama Papers case.

    Now it is rusting hulk in a small town railway station, but Indian authorities want the stall where Prime Minister Narendra Modi sold tea with his father to become a global tourist magnet.
    The nationalist leader spoke often during his election campaign of his humble roots as a "chai wallah´s son" and the authorities plan a $15 million project to spruce up those roots in his hometown of Vadnagar.
    "Looking into the historic importance of the stall, we have decided to modernize it," Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma said as he announced the project in the town in the western state of Gujarat.
    "We want to restore the tea stall and develop it as a tourist spot. This is being done to put Vadnagar on the world tourism map," Sharma said in comments reported Tuesday.
    The tin sheet stall is currently unused and unloved on a Vadnagar railway station platform. Most of it is covered with rust.
    One of six children, Modi, now 66, is said to have spent much of his childhood helping his father Damodardas Mulchand Modi who died in 1989.
    As well as using his "chai wallah´s son" roots during the 2014 election campaign, Modi also held "discussions over tea" at campaign stops to take questions from the public.
    District collector Alok Pandey said there are seven or eight sites in Vadnagar, a town of 25,000 people, which will be developed under the tourism plan.
    He said the culture and tourism ministry had given one billion rupees ($15 million) "to develop Vadnagar as a tourist attraction".
    "The work has already begun and most of it will be over by the end of September," Pandey told AFP without saying what would happen to the stall.
    He conceded that the railway station was in a "very dilapidated condition."
    Vadnagar´s Sarmishta Lake, a clock tower, Buddhist excavation sites and the railway station will be renovated to keep tourists interested, he said.
    A makeshift tea stall on another platform will also get a painting and cleaning, the official proudly said.

    KARACHI: Sadia, a bride-to-be from Karachi, was heartbroken to find that her dream to marry in Lucknow has been shattered after the Indian High Commission in Islamabad denied her and her family?s visa request.
    The 25-year-old girl as a last resort turned to Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to look into the matter. Sadia put forth her plight to Swaraj on social media, but up till now failed to get a response.
    The girl is to marry 28-year-old Syed on August 1 in Lucknow; unfortunately, the two?s nationality became a hurdle in their unison.
    ?Es beti ki help kariye (Please help this daughter). You are my only hope,? Sadia tweeted to Swaraj, according to Times of India.
    In 2012, Sadia visited Lucknow and it was then her marriage was finalised. However, things took a murkier turn when the family of the bride was denied their visitor visa. The groom has also reportedly knocked on Swaraj?s door for help regarding the issue.

    Xi and Putin slammed the US THAAD missile system installed in South Korea. -AFP MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping met Tuesday against a backdrop of mounting tensions over North Korea ahead of G20 summit talks with US President Donald Trump.
    The sit-down in Moscow is meant to focus on bolstering trade ties between the two partners, with deals worth billions of dollars expected to be signed.
    But the talks were also expected to discuss North Korea after Pyongyang claimed the launch of its first inter-continental ballistic missile, and Trump urged China to "end this nonsense once and for all".
    "Economic questions are always at the centre of our attention but we are also engaged in coordinating our efforts on the international arena," Putin told Xi at the start of the talks.
    It is their third official meeting this year.
    Xi in turn praised the "special character" of China´s ties with Russia.
    He called the two nations "good neighbours, faithful friends and reliable partners" in comments translated into Russian.
    Chinese state news agency Xinhua reported earlier that Putin and Xi "agreed to jointly push for a proper settlement of the peninsula issue via dialogue and negotiation" at a closed Kremlin meeting Monday evening on the eve of the official talks.
    Beijing - North Korea´s closest diplomatic ally - and Moscow have called repeatedly for calm on all sides, but Trump has warned Washington´s patience with Pyongyang is nearing an end.
    Xi and Putin once again slammed the US THAAD missile system installed in South Korea to protect against the North, Xinhua said. Both leaders argue that it threatens the strategic balance in the region.
    The Kremlin gave no details on what was discussed at the "informal" tete-a-tete Monday.
    The leaders of the two giant neighbours are expected to oversee the inking of a raft of deals worth billions of dollars as Moscow continues a pivot towards China it has ramped up since ties with the West slumped over Ukraine.
    Ahead of his arrival in Moscow Xi said that relations with Russia were currently enjoying their "best time in history" as he and Putin have struck up a close relationship.
    The Kremlin strongman is set to present Xi with a prestigious Russian state award at the Kremlin.
    After their meeting in Moscow the two leaders are set to head to the G20 summit in Hamburg where they will come face-to-face with Trump, a first meeting for Putin with the US president.

    ISLAMABAD: Sarfraz Ahmed, after steering the national team to win the Champions Trophy, was appointed captain of the Pakistan Test team on Tuesday.
    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan made the announcement at the ceremony held to honour the cricket team at Prime Minister House.
    Players and board officials were also presented with monetary rewards announced by the premier earlier.
    Sarfraz replaced Azhar Ali as the captain of the ODI format earlier in February 2017. He is also the skipper of national T20 team.

    Narendra Modi begins a first visit to Israel by an Indian prime minister on Tuesday, in a public embrace of a country that he has long admired for its military and technical expertise but which his predecessors kept at arm's length.
    India has traditionally trodden a careful diplomatic line in the region, analysts say, wary of upsetting Arab states and Iran - upon whom it relies for its vast imports of oil - and its large Muslim minority. It has been a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause, even as it quietly pursued ties with Israel.
    But now Modi is lifting the curtain on a thriving military relationship. He will hold three days of talks with his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, to advance sales and production of missiles, drones and radar systems under his signature "Make in India" drive, officials in Delhi and Tel Aviv said.
    Netanyahu, hailing what he described as Modi's "historic visit", said on Monday he and the Indian leader have worked together over the past few years to build a "steadfast friendship" between Israel and India.
    "This visit will deepen cooperation in a wide range of fields - security, agriculture, water, energy - basically in almost every field Israel is involved in," Netanyahu told his cabinet in public remarks.
    Modi will not travel to Ramallah, the seat of the Palestinian Authority and a customary stop for visiting leaders trying to maintain a balance in political ties.
    At home, the apparent shift in what has long been a bedrock of India's foreign policy risks sharpening criticism that the country's 180 million Muslims are increasingly being marginalised under Modi's Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, which swept to power in 2014.
    "Narendra Modi's visit to Israel will only strengthen its occupation of Palestine," said Asaduddin Owaisi, a member of India's federal parliament from a regional group that promotes Muslim rights.
    Burgeoning relationship
    In previous decades, under the left-leaning Congress Party, former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was a regular visitor to New Delhi, pictured hugging then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi when the two were championing the Non-Alignment Movement.
    In May, Modi hosted Arafat's successor, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and offered help in health and information technology, but the trip was low-key.
    The scale of the ongoing collaboration with Israel dwarfs anything India is attempting with the Palestinians, officials say.
    "We have a wide ranging partnership with Israel that ranges from agriculture cooperation to homeland security," said Bala Bhaskar, head of the foreign ministry's West Asia division.
    He said India's ties with Israel and Palestine were important in their own right and neither should be viewed through the prism of the other. But an Israeli diplomat said Modi's standalone trip to Israel was an important signal.
    The two sides are expected to announce strategic partnerships in areas including water, agriculture and space technology during Modi's visit.
    But it is the defence relationship that is most advanced - India is now Israel's biggest arms market, buying weapons at an average of $1 billion each year.
    Eli Alfassi, executive vice president of marketing at state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the country's biggest defense firm, said it was supplying India with drones, radar, communication systems and cybersecurity.
    Missiles, food security
    The centerpiece of the collaboration is the Barack 8 air defence system, built jointly by the two countries in a boost for Modi's campaign to develop a domestic defense industry.
    "We are adjusting to the 'Make in India' policy which says only local companies will win tenders, so we are setting up three joint projects in India with local companies," Alfassi said.
    IAI has signed a memorandum of understanding to build missiles with India's state-run Bharat Electronics Limited, launched a joint project with Dynamatic Technologies to make drones and is scouting for a partner for a joint venture for its subsidiary Elta, which specializes in electronic warfare and communication systems, he said.
    India is in the midst of a military modernisation program worth more than $100 billion to help counter rivals Pakistan and China.
    Israel, the United States and Russia are India's top military suppliers, and Modi's government has said it will favour countries that are ready to share technology.
    Avi Mizrachi, executive vice president of business development for Israel and Southeast Asia at Elbit Systems, which supplies electro-optic systems and upgrades of helicopters and combat vehicles, said it would be bidding for a tender to supply drones in partnership with India's Adani group.
    The two countries stress, though, that there is more to the relationship than arms deals.
    Modi will be discussing a plan for Israeli help in boosting India's food security, officials said.
    The plan is to expand 26 agriculture expertise centers that Israel has set up in 15 Indian states to help increase output of everything from vegetables to mangoes and pomegranates.
    Modi wants Indian companies involved in turning these small centers into commercial entities that would help tens of thousands of farmers to boost productivity.

    RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Bajwa on Tuesday visited Pano Aqil garrison, where he was briefed about the operational preparedness and internal security matters, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.
    According to the army media wing, the army chief interacted with officers and expressed his satisfaction on the state of preparedness and contribution towards internal security.
    The COAS also lauded the troops? performance during the recently conducted sixth population and housing census and other internal security tasks.
    Gen Bajwa, in his address, said that the Army shall continue its support to all state institutions for the prosperity of Pakistan and its people through selfless devotion and commitment, according to the press statement.
    "Country comes first, self later", COAS remarked, according to the ISPR statement.
    "We shall now consolidate our gains to further strengthening of the state, neutralising all negative stimulants", Gen Bajwa said.
    He also said that the country has come a long way in its battle against terrorism and militancy, added the ISPR release.

    An SNGPL spokesperson said the supply of gas was curtailed following a technical fault in the supply of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas. He added that the MOL plant has also been temporarily closed down for annual maintenance.
    The spokesperson assured that supply would be restored as soon as the situation is back to normal.

    Principal photography has officially begun for the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, directed by David Yates with a script by J.K. Rowling.
    Starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the second movie moves the action to Paris, picking up a few months after the temporary defeat of Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) in New York City. We?ll meet a young Dumbledore, played by Jude Law, along with younger versions of Newt, Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
    The scenes will take place in Paris, London, and New York, Pottermore unveiled, marking the start of the filming. They?ve also shared a few details about new characters:
    ?Standouts include a bounty hunter called Grimmson, played by Icelandic actor Ingvar Sigurdsson; William Nadylam as a wizard called Yusuf Kama; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Skender, the owner of a wizarding circus and Claudia Kim as one of the circus?s ?featured attractions?.?
    A newly released synopsis appears to reveal that Grindelwald will be breaking out of prison in the next film. Some may not see this as a surprise, but others speculated that he?d be held captive for all of FB2 and perhaps break out during FB3 or later, Hypable reported.
    ?As he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause ? elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from his former student Newt Scamander. The adventure reunites Newt with Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler), but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.?
    Also returning are Katherine Waterston as Newt?s someday-wife Tina, Alison Sudol as Queenie, Dan Fogler as Jacob and Ezra Miller as Credence. Zoë Kravitz?s Leta Lestrange is said to have a more prominent role after her brief introduction in the first movie.
    Fantastic Beasts 2 will premiere on November 16, 2018.

    CHITRAL: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Tuesday that it is the first time that big crooks are being questioned over corruption in the country's history.

    Speaking to supporters in Chitral, he said "this is your money that they have looted". 
    Referring to the ongoing Panama case investigation, he said the Sharifs are being held accountable by the joint investigation team.
    Khan said the Sharifs laundered money after stealing it from public funds, and now make ?innocent faces? when asked for explanations.
    ?Now the princess [Maryam] has been summoned and they are making a huge hue and cry. Have you forgotten about Benazir Bhutto?? he asked.
    The PTI chief is in Chitral where he inaugurated a small-scale hydroelectric power supply scheme.
    It was owing to Imran?s visit that he failed to appear in the Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday to submit his reply in a contempt petition against him. 
    Addressing his supporters, he said there are two major problems facing the nation: water and electricity.

    ?You will be surprised to know most children die in Pakistan because of drinking contaminated water. This is extremely shameful for us. Since the government does not fulfill its responsibility common people have to bribe the authorities in order to get clean water. Providing a basic necessity for the people is our policy. This is the right of the people. This is the responsibility of the government,? he said.

    The electricity produced in the country is really expensive because it is made with imported fuel paid for by dollars which leads to taking international loans, he explained. "To return those loans we have to tax our people. If this tax wasn?t there then things would be relatively cheaper,? he added.

    Khan stated that Pakistan was either importing fuel or using coal for its electricity which was also harmful since it caused pollution.
    ?Our future is dependent on hydroelectricity. In the 1960?s when we relied on hydroelectricity, the prices of electricity were the lowest and there was no load-shedding,? he claimed.

    This will be the first time the army chief chairs a meeting of the apex committee in Karachi.
    Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other senior civil and military officials will be part of the meeting.
    Sources said items on the meeting agenda of the highest security body of the province include reviewing the security at Central Jail, Karachi as well as the recent escape of suspected terrorists from Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. 
    The last meeting of the apex committee was held on Jauary 2, 2017 and chaired by the Sindh chief minister.

    Sindhi folk singer Allan Faqeer. Photo: File  KARACHI: The sixteenth death anniversary of Sindhi folk singer and recipient of President?s Pride of Performance, Allan Faqeer is being observed on Tuesday, July 4.
    Born in 1932 in Jamshoro district of Sindh, Allan Faqeer rose to fame singing Sufi songs comprising verses from Sufi saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai?s poetry.
    Allan himself chose the suffix ?faqeer? for his name, The News reported.
    Allan Faqeer- the singer of 'Humma Humma (Allah Allah kar bhyyia), a fusion of pop and folk singing, not only took Pakistan to the centre of the world music arena but also led to his co-singer Muhammad Ali Shehki to new heights of popularity in the late 1980s.
    He was bestowed with the Presidential honour of ?Pride of Performance? in 1980. The Sufi singer also received Shah Latif Award, Shahbaz Award, and Kandh Kot Award.
    Allan Faqeer passed away on July 4, 2000.

    The futuristic Hanna-Barbera show, originally set in 2062, was about a family living in a space city.
    But would audiences ? and critics ? appreciate an updated Jetsons with actual people?
    Live-action cartoon adaptations on the big screen historically have not been met with much praise, so perhaps a television version will fare better.
    Here's a look at some of the cartoon adaptations that were probably best left alone.
    The Flintstones (1994)
    Photo: Shutterstock  The Flintstones was highly anticipated when it was released, with a great cast including John Goodman, Rick Moranis and Elizabeth Taylor.
    It performed reasonably well at the US box office and really flew internationally. But that did not mean people liked it.
    "It isn't just awful. It bombs itself into the Stone Age. As Fred Flintstone might have put it: Yabba-dabba-boo," the Washington Post said.
    Scooby-Doo (2002)
    Photo: Shutterstock On paper, a Scooby-Doo movie is a great idea ? mystery, suspense, a talking dog and those pesky kids.
    Audiences flocked to see it in its opening weekend but were mostly left underwhelmed.
    "Anyone looking for sophistication from a movie which features a two-minute-long farting contest between man and CG dog is going to be sorely disappointed," according to Empire. 
    It is healthy box office receipts led studio bosses to make a critically panned sequel two years later.

    European shares were also set to open in the red, with financial spread betters expecting Britain's FTSE 100 and Germany's DAX to start off 0.2 percent each, and France's CAC 40 down 0.3 percent.
    MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 0.6 percent after rising earlier.
    Japan's Nikkei also surrendered earlier gains to drop 0.1 percent, and South Korea's KOSPI extended losses to trade 0.6 percent lower.
    North Korea test-launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile on Tuesday, South Korean and US officials said, days before leaders from the Group of 20 nations are due to discuss steps to rein in Pyongyang's weapons programs.
    The missile flew 930 kilometres (580 miles) before landing in Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone, the South Korean military and Japanese government said.
    Tokyo strongly protested what it called a clear violation of UN resolutions, and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said he will ask the presidents of China and Russia to play more constructive roles in efforts to stop Pyongyang's arms program.
    North Korea said it will make a major announcement on Tuesday at 3:30 pm local time (2.30 a.m. ET), South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.
    The South Korean won dropped 0.4 percent to 1,151 won to the dollar as of 0532 GMT.
    The nervous mood pushed the safe-haven yen up 0.4 percent to 113.02 yen per dollar.
    "As concerns surrounding the firing of ballistic missiles brewed midday, we are seeing the slide in the Japanese market spreading across to the rest of Asia," said Jingyi Pan, market strategist at IG in Singapore.
    "Reports suggesting that the missile had landed in Japan?s Exclusive Economic Zone certainly bring about deeper concern compared to past instances."
    Hong Kong's Hang Seng posted the biggest loss with a 1.6 percent drop, after earlier slumping more than 2 percent.
    Chinese blue-chips fell 0.9 percent.
    Australian shares bucked the trend to surge 1.6 percent, bouncing solidly from a 2.3 percent loss over the previous two sessions, helped by the nation's central bank steering a neutral course on rates in contrast to some of its peers who have recently turned more hawkish.
    The broad Asian share market performance was in stark contrast to the overnight increases in European and U.S. shares, with oil's longest stretch of daily price gains in over five years boosting energy shares.
    The S&P 500 index and the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted gains of 0.2 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively, led by financials and energy shares. The Nasdaq lost 0.5 percent, as the rotation away from technology names continued.
    An error in Nasdaq's computer systems on Monday evening in the US caused some third-party providers to incorrectly show large after-hours swings for the prices of Amazon Inc, Microsoft Corp and Apple Inc shares. Google parent Alphabet Inc and eBay Inc shares were among others that appeared to be priced at $123.47 on some financial news websites.
    The actual prices of the stocks were not affected and no trades were completed at that price, a Nasdaq spokesman confirmed.
    US markets are closed on Tuesday for the independence day holiday.
    European markets posted even stronger gains, with the FTSEurofirst 300 jumping as much as 1.2 percent following losses last week.
    In currency markets, the dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of trade-weighted peers, was steady at 96.23.
    On Thursday, it jumped 0.6 percent after a private index of June domestic manufacturing activity rose more than expected while other data showed government outlays on construction projects in May at their highest in more than four years.

    "Expectations towards the Federal Reserve hiking interest rates later this year had perhaps sunk too low," said Shin Kadota, a senior strategist at Barclays in Tokyo. "We are now seeing such lowered expectations being reversed a little."
    The Australian dollar slid 0.65 percent to $0.7609 after the Reserve Bank of Australia's neutral outlook on rates disappointed speculators betting it would join other global central banks that have recently turned hawkish.
    The euro was little changed at $1.136 on Tuesday.
    Sterling inched up 0.1 percent to $1.295, but failed to make up most of Monday's 0.7 percent loss after poorer-than-expected data from Britain's manufacturing sector.
    Crude futures posted their first session of losses in nine, ending their longest run of gains since February 2012, as traders closed positions ahead of the US holiday.
    US crude slipped 0.5 percent to $46.85 a barrel.
    Global benchmark Brent also fell 0.5 percent to $49.44. On Monday, it closed up 3.7 percent, its biggest one-day gain since December 2016.
    Gold inched up from its lowest level in more than seven weeks hit on Monday on the dollar's strength. Spot gold was up 0.3 percent at $1,224.49 an ounce on Tuesday.

    Yet that is the reality facing 84th-ranked Alexandr Dolgopolov when the Ukrainian faces one of Wimbledon's all-time favourite sons in Tuesday's first round match on Center Court.
    Things could not have been more different last July.
    That painful tumble in Federer's semi-final defeat by Milos Raonic sparked a chain of events that many feared would end the Swiss great's storied career.
    Just days later, he put a full stop to his 2016 season, saying he needed time to receive "more extensive rehabilitation" on his stricken knee which had required surgery months earlier.
    But the man who is a month shy of his 36th birthday has been rejuvenated by the enforced six-month break.
    After capturing a record 18th grand slam trophy at the Australian Open in January, he is once again proving to be a formidable force -- winning back-to-back titles at Indian Wells and Miami for the first time since 2006.
    While he shunned the entire claycourt season to give himself "the best chance for Wimbledon", a ninth title at the Halle grasscourt tournament has put him in the zone for Wimbledon.
    "I don't want to be at the mercy of my opponent. I want to take charge, play aggressive myself," Federer, seeking his first title here since 2012, told reporters.
    "So for that I need to be fast on my feet and quick in my mind. I just need enough rest so I can play enough inspired tennis."
    Considering Dolgopolov has not taken a set off Federer in three meetings, the chances are he will be cannon fodder for the Swiss as Federer begins the pursuit of a record eighth Wimbledon title and a record 85th match win at the grasscourt major.

    Overturned oil tanker pictured on the National Highway following the explosion that claimed 208 lives. Photo: File   LAHORE: One more victim of the Ahmedpur East oil tanker fire succumbed to injuries on Tuesday (today), taking the death toll to 208.
    The deceased, who was being treated at Jinnah Hospital Lahore, passed away early Tuesday morning, focal person Dr Amir Mehmood said.
    A total of 61 injured in the incident are being treated at different hospitals. 23 of the 61 injured are admitted to Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital, 16 to Nishtar Hospital Multan, 14 to THQ Hospital Ahmedpur East, and eight to Jinnah Hospital Lahore. 
    The incident took place on a route of the National Highway on June 25, a day before Eid was to be celebrated in most parts of the country.
    A large number of people were charred to death on the spot as an overturned oil tanker exploded. 
    The deceased and injured included passers-by and residents, who had gathered to collect oil that was leaking from the tanker.

    Xi arrived?s two-day visit to Moscow on Monday comes before he travels to Germany to take part in an upcoming G20 summit in Hamburg.
    Before his departure for the state visit to Russia, Xi said, "Our two countries have built a high level of political and strategic trust? I believe the visit will lend new impetus to the growth of bilateral relations.?
    "Economic cooperation and trade is the most wide-ranging area in our practical cooperation and enjoys great potential," he added.
    He also expressed hope that the G20 will continue to "uphold the spirit of partnership for win-win cooperation?Global growth continues to gather momentum, as both developed countries and emerging markets show stronger economic performance. However, grave challenges remain. Therefore, it is particularly important for the G20 to play its role as a premier forum for international economic cooperation.?
    ?This evening, within Chinese President Xi Jinping's official visit, there will be an informal dinner for President Putin and Xi Jinping at the Kremlin,? said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He added that Xi?s official visit, which includes bilateral talks, will begin on Tuesday.
    ?It will have an unusual format [of the meeting]: the leaders will meet [Russian and Chinese] representatives of the public, businesses and media, who will briefly inform Putin and Xi Jinping on their cooperation,? added Peskov.
    Putin will also bestow upon Xi one of Russia?s utmost honors, the order of St. Andrew the First-Called, for his efforts towards bolstering ties between Russia and China.
    Xi?s meeting with Putin will be the third of its kind this year.
    According to Russia?s ambassador to China, Andrey Denisov, during the visit, China and Russia will sign multiple contracts for the collective worth of over $10 billion in various fields.

    The Indian troops killed the youth during a crackdown operation in Bahmnoo area of the district.
    Two youth, Jehangir Khanday and Kifayat Ahmad, were also killed in the same area, yesterday, the KMS reported.
    Four residential houses in the area have been damaged so far during the ongoing operation.
