ISLAMABAD: Monsoon rains continue in various places across the country, with authorities warning of flash floods in Balochistan.

A heavy downpour was reported on Sunday morning in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Nawabshah and Hub while showers are forecast in Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In Karachi, light rain which began Saturday evening continues intermittently. The Met Office has predicted the rain spell to last till Monday. As a result of the downpour, electricity was cut off in several areas. A spokesperson of K-Electric said 100 power feeders tripped due to the rain and several have been brought back online while work is under way to restore the rest.

Car swept away in Khuzdar

A family of five is feared dead after their vehicle was swept away in the rain in Khuzdar, Balochistan.

Reports stated that a strong flash flood sweat away a car on Tuesday. Locals and authorities were able to recover the body of one of the family members, while a search is under way to rescue the remaining family members.

Moreover, a bridge connecting the Quetta-Karachi National Highway has been swept away by the rain. As a result, traffic was suspended on the main route and hundreds of commuters were left stranded.
