Amid the Hijab controversy that is going around, Swara Bhasker extended her support in favour of a women’s choice of clothing and wrote, “shameful state of affairs.” 

Later, in another tweet, she mentioned “महाभारत में द्रौपदी के जबरन कपड़े उतारे गए थे.. और सभा में बैठे ज़िम्मेदार, शक्तिशाली, क़ानून बनाने वाले देखते रहे.. ऐसे ही आज याद आया। (In Mahabharata, Draupadi's clothes were forcibly taken off.. and the responsible, powerful, law-makers sitting in the assembly kept watching.. just remembered today.)” 

महाभारत में द्रौपदी के जबरन कपड़े उतारे गए थे.. और सभा में बैठे ज़िम्मेदार, शक्तिशाली, क़ानून बनाने वाले देखते रहे.. ऐसे ही आज याद आया।

Her tweet about Mahabharat courted controversy and a social media user tried to troll her by sharing a picture of her from the promotions of the 2018 film Veere Di Wedding.  

In the picture, the troll pointed out that she is wearing short clothes.  

The troll tweeted, “That is @ReallySwara, my friends, who is advocating for hijab.”  

Reacting to the troll, Swara responded saying that she is 'looking bomb' in the picture and added that she is simply advocating a woman’s right to choice of clothing. 

She tweeted, “Yeah, it’s me.. looking bomb Thank u! Thanks for sharing this pic of mine & reminding the world that I’m also a hottie ! I advocate Women’s right to choose their clothing.. you know ‘choice’ -koi nahi aap rehney doh.. aap karo slutshame kisi aur ko- usmey bhi fail”. 

The tweet by the troll was later deleted.

She later shared screenshots of the deleted tweet and other tweets trolling her and wrote, “Good afternoon Tweeple! Here is a sample RW tweet salad comprising Of Sanghis & their total failure to understand the concept of choice; their pathetic slut-shaming, and garnished with a desperate attempt to seem intellectual by quoting Urdu Shaayars Enjoy!!”
