'Kashmir Files' Success Leads To People Recommending 'Parzania', A Film On Gujarat Riots

The Kashmir Files has turned out to be one of the biggest success stories in recent years. The film directed by Vivek Agnihotri has been doing record-breaking business at the box office and it continues to grow with each passing day.

The film is based on the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles.

The film has received such an unprecedented response not just from the audience but from the politicians as well that it has been declared tax-free in several states in India.

Interestingly, the massive success of The Kashmir Files has led some people to recommend another political thriller Parzania that was released in 2007.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Parzania starred Naseeruddin Shah, Sarika and Parza Dastur and was based on the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Recommending the film, one social media user wrote, “If you love movies based on true stories like #thekashmirfiles, I have more options for you. #Parzania:Inspired by a true story, a Parsi couple attempt to find their son who went missing in Gujarat Riots. #Firaaq:A haunting portrayal of Gujarat post the 2002 riots. #GujaratFiles”.

Another user tweeted, “To those who are watching and believing #TheKashmirFiles , should also watch #Parzania - #GujaratRiots 2002”.

One tweet read, “Watched Kashmir Files? Felt enraged? Fully understandable. Now also watch these 2 movies -Final Solution by @rakeshfilm -Parzania by @rahuldholakia And show that your anger is not selective & political”.
