'Tab Tak To Bahar Ho Jayenge': Deepak Chahar's Tentative Return Isn't Good News For CSK Fans

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) came into the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the defending champions but they are yet to register a win in the ongoing tournament.

Playing under a new captain Ravindra Jadeja, after MS Dhoni decided to step away from the leadership role, CSK have lost to Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants in their first couple of games.

One of the main reasons for their poor start has been linked with the absence of their premier bowler Deepak Chahar for whom the Chennai-based franchise splashed Rs 14 crore at the mega auction.

Chahar had suffered a quadriceps injury on his right leg and was ruled out for at least six to eight weeks.

Now, much to the delight of CSK fans, the pacer is likely to return to action later this month.

According to a Times Of India report, Chahar, who is working on his rehab at the National Cricket Academy is likely to be released in a couple of weeks.

The report states that Chahar should be fit for CSK's match against Punjab Kings on April 25. While the return of the pacer will boost the fast bowling department for CSK, fans feel his return might be too late for the defending champions to save their crown.

Chahar's absence was clearly visible in CSK's last fixture where they failed to defend 210 runs against Lucknow. Though the outfield was like 'Niagara Falls' as per their head coach Stephen Fleming, CSK looked a bowler short in that game and the dew certainly did not help their spinners who bowled just three overs collectively.

Chennai would be hoping to get some wins under their belt before the arrival of Deepak Chahar and for that, they need to pull up their socks in the fielding department.

Moeen Ali dropped a sitter to give Quinton de Kock an extra life and the South African wicket-keeper batter made the most out of it by scoring a quick-fire half-century.

CSK cannot afford to repeat the same mistakes again because they are set to take on Punjab Kings in their next match on Sunday (April 3) and the Mayank Agarwal-led outfit is filled with power-hitters who can change the course of the match in a flash.
