Karachiites should brace for impact as weather forecasts predict a continuous spell of rain in the port city from Tuesday till the weekend.

Pakistan Meteorological Director Abdul Rasheed, talking to Geo News, said it is premature to say whether the rain will be heavy or light, but added that from Monday the temperature will spike in the metropolis and the sea-breeze may also halt on Tuesday.

He said Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, Mithi and other areas of Sindh will receive heavy rains as a storm system, present in north-eastern India, reaches here around Tuesday.

Rasheed said there is no threat of a hurricane but flash flooding fears exist as the drains of the metropolis are not properly cleaned and get clogged easily.

Moreover, with the sacrificing of animals on Eid-ul-Azha, which falls on Saturday, it is feared the careless disposal of animal waste may also clog drains further.

At present, the PMD website states that mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country, however, rain-thunderstorm is expected at a few places in DG Khan, Malakand and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) in the next 24 hours.

For the next 48 hours, the PMD website predicts rain-thunderstorm for Mirpurkhas and GB.

Last week, the metropolis was battered by heavy rain and thunderstorms, which led around a dozen people dead ? mostly from electrocution.
