Minister of Foreign Affairs Khawaja Asif said late Wednesday night citing fresh statistics that power generation in Pakistan has achieved a new record-high as of 9 PM the same night.

Asif posted a tweet just before 11 PM saying that the production of electricity was registered at 20,000 megawatts (MW) and that the country is almost nearing the completion of the ?Roshan Pakistan? promise.

The power division of the Ministry of Energy also backed the minister?s claim, saying that the milestone, which was recorded at 9 PM on Wednesday night, indicates the first time power generation has surpassed this figure.

A ministry spokesperson revealed that demand ? as of Wednesday night ? was observed to be 18,203 MW, whereas the power system has the ability to generate 20,000 MW of electricity, thereby implying that there was more electricity than required.

The power shortage, at present, is recorded at zero, the spokesperson concluded.
