Apple Officially Unveils The Beautifully Designed iPhone X & It Leaves Most Android Phones Behind



We've been covering rumours and leaks about the latest iPhone for almost a year on a daily basis and the time has finally come when Apple officially announced the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X is obviously the star attraction as it hails a radical new design as compared to any other iPhones launched previously. Having said that, Apple did announce the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus as well that has some major improvements in the familiar iPhone 7/7Plus chassis.

It's Called The iPhone Ten (X)! 

The star attraction of the show has generated more interested by enthusiasts, journalists and fans than any other smartphone in recent history. The marquee device has the latest features Apple has to offer which includes 3D facial recognition, wireless charging, a vertical dual-camera setup and augmented reality features.

The iPhone X which stands for ‘ten', features two 12-megapixel lenses i.e. one being a telephoto lens and the other being a wide angle lens. Both lenses have dual-optical image stabilisation and help in taking clearer pictures. The iPhone X also has quad-LED True Tone flash for uniformity of light. The iPhone X's dual camera setup can take bokeh shots just like the 7 Plus but the vertical setup also helps in Augmented Reality features. The home button is now removed and you can simply swipe up to unlock the phone. You can also swipe up for multi-tasking. You can always say “Hey Siri” to launch the assistant application, however, the large button on the side can also be used to launch the virtual assistant.

Apple calls it the TrueDepth camera system, which includes a flood illuminator, infrared camera, front camera, dot projector, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, speaker and microphone. The combination of all the sensors learns your face and aids in facial recognition during day or night. Face ID works with hats and beards as well. You can use Face ID to make payments with third party apps and Apple Pay.

The iPhone X is powered by the new A11 Bionic chipset that has six cores and enables the device to be the most powerful iPhone by Apple yet. The iPhone X also comes equipped with the W11 chip which means it can easily connect to AirPods without any hassles, just like its predecessor.

Apple has a developed a charging plate of its own and it works with the Apple Watch, as well as a new wireless charging AirPod case. Apple dubs it 'AirPower' which is the hub for all Apple devices that can charge wirelessly.

The iPhone X comes in two variants i.e. 64GB/256GB and the pricing will start from $999 (INR 89,0000 MRP). The iPhone X will be available in India from the 3rd of November onwards.  

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (Not 7S and 7S Plus)

The two models have some major updates due to which the two smartphone do not carry the 'S' branding. The new update in design enables the iPhone 8/8 Plus to be wirelessly charged just like the iPhone X. The two phones also have a speed boost thanks to the same A11 Bionic chip and have new software features that are exclusive to the new handsets. The new chipset is said to make the iPhone last longer in terms of battery life and also perform 70% faster than the iPhone 7. Both handsets now have Bluetooth 5.0 and support the AirPods and BeatX headphones.

The iPhone 8/8Plus has a new 12-megapixel camera that provides 83 percent more light and also more power-efficient. It will also take pictures with deeper pixels. The iPhone 8 Plus has two new sensors in its dual camera with f/1.8 (wide angle) and f/2.8 (telephoto) apertures.

The biggest news is that the both variants now support wireless charging, just like the iPhone X. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will come in two variants i.e. 64GB/256GB and will be priced starting at INR 64,000. It will be available for pre-order starting 15th September and will be available in stores on 22nd September in the United States. Both the iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus will be available for purchase in India from the 29th of September.  

Apple Watch Series 3 (The one that'll let you talk to your wrist)

Apple announced the latest version of the Apple Watch i.e. the Apple Watch Series 3 which has in-built cellular capabilities. You can also stream Apple Music to your wrist, and listen to it wirelessly via the AirPods. Under the hood, the Series 3 has a new dual-core processor delivering up to 70% more performance. Siri is quicker than ever and this time around Siri will respond with her voice. You can use her to recite information such as weather updates. The smartwatch has a custom "W2" wireless chip that is designed to be both fast and power efficient for WiFi and Bluetooth.

You can now count the number of flights of stairs you have climbed as the new Apple Watch has an altimeter installed. The Apple Watch Series 3 uses an E-SIM which is smaller than the traditional nano sim and Apple has used the display of the smartwatch as the antenna array. The Series 3 will have new bands. Silver, Space Gray and a pinkish aluminium finish options. There's also a new ceramic "Edition" watch. The Series 3 will retail for $329 (INR 21,900) with no LTE; and $399 (INR 29,900) with cellular features.
