Cristiano Ronaldos Perfect Year Gets Better After Club World Cup Title

Real Madrid romped to their second Club World Cup title after getting the better of Japan's Kashima Antlers in the summit clash in Yokohama. Riding on the heroics of their star-player Cristiano Ronaldo, the Spanish giants secured a 4-2 win after being dragged into extra-time by the spirited Asian side.

Ronaldo, who has scored 16 goals in 22 appearances for Real Madrid this season, notched up a pivotal hat-trick to guide Zinedine Zidane's side to an emphatic victory. After scoring his side's second goal from the penalty spot, the Portugal captain settled the matter with a brace of fine finishes in the additional half-hour.

The 31-year-old won the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup with Real Madrid earlier this year which was followed by the Euro 2016 title triumph with Portugal.

After notable title wins, 2016 just got better for Ronaldo as he grabbed his fourth Ballon d'Or in Paris last week.

"This is the trophy we really wanted to end the year in the best way possible. I didn't think it would end like this: winning the final, scoring three goals and helping Real Madrid," Ronaldo said.

"We won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. I also won the Euros with Portugal. It was a perfect year. I am very happy to end the year in such a way," he added.
