ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Friday that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz attacked the country's judiciary today for the second time.

Posting his comments on Twitter, Imran said the commotion in the accountability court today was carried out protect the more that Rs30 billion 'loot' of the Sharif family that is stashed abroad.

"Now we know the drama of darbari Ahsan Iqbal over the Rangers' presence in NAB court ? it was to leave the NAB judge unprotected," said Imran.

He was referring to the October 2 incident when the Rangers took control of the Federal Judicial Complex and did not allow anyone, including Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, to enter the premises.

The Accountability Court-I is hearing three corruption references against the Sharif family and one against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in light of the Supreme Court's July 28 judgment in the Panama Papers case.

Today, as the court was set to indict Nawaz (in absentia), his daughter Maryam and son-in-law MNA Capt (retd) Safdar, lawyers stormed the courtroom in protest against police action against them, causing the judge to adjourn proceedings.

The police had disallowed the lawyers from entering the judicial complex.

Continuing his comments, Imran said clearly the PML-N is bent on destroying all state institutions. He asked the public to be "prepared to stand up and defend our state institutions".

He said the destruction of state institutions means the disintegration of the state.

"This is the Sharif agenda which nation must counter," he added.

On November 28, 1997 activists and leaders of the PML-N stormed the Supreme Court, manhandling judges and damaging the premises, while the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Sajjad Ali Shah was hearing a contempt case against then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Reacting to today's incident in the court, PTI Spokesman Fawad Chaudhry called for the resignation of State Interior Minister Tallal Chaudhry ? who was present in the court today ? and placing of Maryam and Safdar's name in the Exit Control List.

He claimed that today's ruckus in the court was a thought-out conspiracy by the PML-N to delay the Sharif family members' indictment.

PPP hits out at PML-N

Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) spokesperson Chaudhry Manzoor said the PML-N today has repeated its past of battling the courts instead of facing them peacefully.

He said there is no law and order in the country, adding that Nawaz Sharif is taking the country towards a state of anarchy.

"He?s [Nawaz] is proving true the Supreme Court?s statement that he is a godfather," said Manzoor.
