While the world is still coming to terms with the recent brutal killings, especially those that rocked London, Manchester and Mogadishu, New York became the latest victim to a terror attack which has claimed innocent lives. On one hand, where young kids were gearing up for their annual trick or treat ritual for Halloween, a 29-year-old man mercilessly plowed his truck into civilians on a lower Manhattan bike path, near the World Trade Center memorial; killing as many as eight people and leaving over 11 injured.

Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, who came to the US from Uzbekistan in 2010, has been identified as the suspect who allegedly first drove over the bikers and then rammed into a school bus. Saipov was shot in the abdomen by the cops and underwent surgery as well. Reportedly, authorities found a note inside the truck that connects this attack to ISIS, but nothing has been verified as of now.
Moreover, according to a report in BBC, Saipov allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest) while abandoning the truck after claiming several lives. Certain videos have surfaced as well where the suspect is seen running away with what appears to be two guns.
Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York, was quoted by CNN https://edition.cnn.com/2017/11/01/us/new-york-attack/index.html, “This was an act of terror, and a particularly cowardly act or terror aimed at innocent civilians, aimed at people going about their lives who had no idea what was about to hit them.” He feels that this was an act to intimidate the city and break their spirit.
Of the victims who lost their lives in this gruesome attack, five were from Argentina who reportedly came to New York to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their graduation from high school. Argentina President Mauricio Macri expressed grief on twitter and condemned this attack that took lives of Argentine citizens and left one severely injured.

— josh goblin ð¹ (@joshgroban) 31 October 2017The love and support that is continuously pouring from around the world only proves that terrorism can never succeed in creating fear, but only make people stronger and unite them.
